The Best Restaurants in Oregon’s Willamette Valley | Eater Portland

"With exposed brick walls and a cooler full of tiramisu, chef and owner Dario Pisoni’s Rosmarino is basically impossible not to like. A native of Milan, Pisoni’s pasta and pizza are more Italia, less Olive Garden, which is to say the restaurant is focused on classic preparations and flavor combinations burrata and arugula, bucatini carbonara, and braised wild boar. Be sure to reserve a table ahead of time, especially on Sunday for weekly pizza and gnocchi night. For a sandwich or an easy dinner on your way out of town, check out Pisoni’s deli, Gusto Gastronimia Italiana." - Katherine Chew Hamilton

Just spent an amazing hour having the absolute best traditional Italian food I have eaten since leaving the East coast and having family meals...or those that I have cooked myself. Chef Dario has his restaurant Rosmarino Osteria Italiana firing on all cyclinders. The food, by far, exceeded expectations. In English, my wife had the mushroom rissotto while I ordered the special, short rib raviloi, AND the lasagna. The lasagna is made with chef Dario's nona's bolognese. I want to say more about the food quality and its traditional qualities but frankly, no words will suffice. If you think you enjoy Italian and want to try REAL traditional Italian, make a reservation for Monday or Thursday night. If, like me, you enjoy a top shelf Chianti, try their house private label. Grown, made and bottled in Italy for the chef, it is magnificificant. My wife also had the beet salad. This consisted of cubed beets on a bed of truffle cream and topped with crumbled pistacios and micro greens. I am not a beet guy but this was the best I have ever had. Take my word when I say...top shelf. Happy birthday sweetheart. I hope you enjoyed it.

Well today it's lunch, last time was dinner two years ago with my Mom for our birthdays. Server Brandon was awesome! Made thie experience unique. Well, back today with my mom in spirit as she couldn't make the trip. But, I'm back today for lunch.

Hubby and I came for our anniversary lunch and it was absolutely delightful! The menu changes slightly by the day and almost entirely by the month. Service was excellent - we were never left waiting - our dishes were served with great timing. Today was gnocchi for the main course and, oh my, does that gnocchi melt in your mouth! The flavors are delicious. The focaccia with the house branded olive oil and balsamic vinegar from Italy are to die for. All their pastas and sauces are made in house. I also really loved how the menu clearly indicated ingredients for those with dietary restrictions. Even better, housemade gluten free gnocchi was also available! Highly highly recommend this restaurant for a nice meal out!

Google
Out of all of the restaurants I've tried in my decades of existence, it would be hard to single out any restaurant whose food was better than this. The pasta is truly handmade and fresh (not just claims made on a menu). Even the espresso martini was memorable. I had the Alla zozzona, and I wish I could describe how delicious it was. Our only complaint? Our party of two couples were traveling and celebrating anniversaries, and shared this when we made reservations, and when we arrived. But we were seated in the very back of a converted (think plywood hotbox) area behind the restaurant on a 95 degree day. If the food had even been a little bit more disappointing, we would have gotten up and walked out.

This was such a cool, unique experience. Dario was awesome and the food was amazing! We did their Friday night 5 course special and it was definitely worth it. Highly recommend for special occasions!!

Google
Incredible dinner in Oregon wine country.... This is a must try if you're anywhere near here. Our server Brandon was great and the entire staff was friendly/welcoming. Our meal started out withe the prosciutto and burrata salad which was so fresh. The table bread was also fantastic. The main course was vecchia modena gnocchi which was smoked guanciale with butter and cream to go along the a diavola pizza which was exceptional as well. The pizza crust was so light and a little chewy in a good way. Perfectly spicy. Dessert was the raspberry sorbet and the blueberry cheesecake which were both great ways to end the meal

Google
Elite food, great service, homemade gnocchi do I need to say more? They used great quality ingredients. Went for my 31st Bday and fell in love. Can’t wait to come back!!! One of the best meals in the PNW period. The house made smoke panchetta in my dish was amazing. My wife’s braised beef short ribs in her gnocchi melted in our mouths. It is a must eat restaurant.

Google
Make sure to call and get a reservation. Friendly staff. The bread sample with the restaurant's oil and vinegar has a great flavor and is not harsh. Having gluten-free options for my wife was great. Sky was very helpful with the menu.

Yelp
Where do I start ? Well , I can at least say that it is one of the best Italian food I have ever had ...so good that during my vacation in Oregon , I went back a second time ( 1 hour detour to come back to this delectable cuisine from Dario The masterful chef ) . We came the first time on a Sunday to have the pizza and gnocchi ...OMG the best gnocchi ever ! CJ ,our waiter gave us a great service and was so nice ! The second time , Rachel was our waitress and just like CJ was outstanding . This restaurant is a true gem both for the food and service ...I am posting some pictures because words cannot describe how delicious the food was ...

Yelp
This was a very pleasant surprise, we would come back to Newberg just to eat here. The pizza is delicious and gnocchi is the best we've had. The hostess and the servers were exceptional nice and very engaging. We enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, attentive service and overall feeling of the restaurant. If I were to change anything I would've made the back patio just a bit warmer, it was a cool day. We will be back as soon as we get a chance.

Yelp
We did a special occasion splurge for a Friday night, local wine, multicourse meal. It was worth the drive. The owner/chef welcomed everyone, and the week's featured local winemaker was there as well. Both the chef and the winemaker introduced each course as it was being brought out by their small army of servers. When we're at a restaurant that is fancier than normal for us, my wife's theory is to "trust the chef" when we find an ingredient or two that we generallly avoid. This theory was put to the test multiple times on our visit, and, I'm happy to say that our trust was well earned. Some of the specific ingredients were chosen to highlight characteristics of the wine. It was splendid. Both the chef and the winemaker came around to each table, giving everyone the chance to talk with them. A very special night.

Yelp
We came out here for a Sunday, though there was a lot to like about the restaurant I'll get the one thing I didn't like out of the way. The only pasta to get on Sunday is gnocchi. I like gnocchi, heck I probably love it since I can't avoid ordering it, but when the whole table has gnocchi it kinda is a bummer especially when you see the sauces are done well and the gnocchi is good. My gripe is because not all sauces go with gnocchi and I think it's a missed opportunity to really show their full skills. I need to go back on not a Sunday or try the 5 course meal next time.

Yelp
We got to taste the food of Northern Italy. It was truly a wonderful experience. I had their short ribs special with roasted carrots and mash potatoes. It was delicious. For dessert we had their coconut cake and it was so good. Everyone was so kind to us and helpful. I would go here again. It was a pretty clean and nice time.

Yelp
Outstanding, especially the attentive service. 5 of us had a wonderful dinner. The soup of the day had grapes and items I've forgotten, but I haven't forgotten the flavor. We also had the Bresaola cured beef and cheese, which was like prosciutto on steroids. I love Cecio &Pepe Al tartufo and theirs was outstanding. The Arrabbiata and Bolognese were perfect. The Pappardelle with braised wild boar was a killer. I could eat everything on this menu. We shared sorbet for dessert.

Yelp
Came in for lunch on a Saturday to be able to try some of the pastas. This place requires reservations, so please make note of that! It's a super easy process via open table. If you are unable to make it, you do need to cancel within a certain time frame otherwise you will be charged. This is not out of the norm for a lot of places, just something to keep in mind! We tried 5 different pastas between the 4 of us-- Pesto pasta Truffle pasta Bolognese Risotto (not the special one, the one on the menu) Wild boar pappardelle We also tried 3 different desserts Overall the food was good, but it felt like every dish was lacking in some way. The noodle in the bolognese and wild boar were not as thick (width was fine) and was a little more slick/slimy than what I was expecting. The sauces on these two pastas were great though! I loved the pasta texture in the pesto and truffle pastas-- perfectly Al dente and were able to carry the flavor of the sauce perfectly. The truffle pasta was a little too cheesy, which I'm a little shocked I'm saying that because I love cheese. The pesto pasta had great flavor and definitely one of the better pestos I've had. For risotto, I usually prefer a mushroom risotto so will definitely have to come back. The desserts are unique and definitely not too sweet. I love tiramisu, so I am biased and will say you should definitely get it. It does have a hint of orange, so don't let that throw you off. I personally really enjoyed it :) Overall, the food was good but not something that I am dying to come back for immediately. However, this was only the Saturday lunch menu, so I would definitely give the other menus another try, like the Sunday pizza/gnocchi menu!

Yelp
I love love love this place. If you haven't been, go. What are you waiting for? The food is amazing. Service is amazing. Can't wait until we can come again'

Yelp
This was one of the funnest dinners Ive ever had! We had reservations on Saturday, for the 5 course pre fixe meal and wine pairing. The inside of the restaurant was nice and cozy. The staff were super nice and greeted/seated us quickly upon entry. Dario and his wife were amazing and it was so fun to participate when Dario was introducing each dish. Honestly every dish was amazing and I couldn't pick a favorite. The starter was a squash and corn soup. The soup was creamy and was perfect for a cold night. Our other appetizer was kind of like a quiche with radicchio, spinach, and cipollini. This savory pie was delicious!! I ate every crumb on my plate. The primo was mushroom risotto. The risotto was cooked perfectly and was very creamy and cheesy. Our main dish was lamb. I don't really eat lamb because I don't like the gamey taste, but this lamb was so tender and had no muttony taste at all! Our final dish was an almond and pear puff pastry pie for dessert. And of course, this dish was delicious too!! Each wine paired well with the each dish and Dario was very entertaining. I will definitely be coming back here because each dish was amazing!

Yelp
Several locals suggested we try to get a reservation here. We called and got lucky! Within a few hours we had an epic meal, starting with delicious peach Moscow mules, followed by a Caprese salad and incredibly fresh pasta. Highly recommend Pomodoro & Basilico and Crema Di Pesto. The best pesto I've ever had. The staff and Chef Dario were welcoming, sincere and memorable!

Yelp
A near perfect score! Wow the burrata and prosciutto salad was my favorite! The meat was freshly sliced and the cheese so decadent and rich. Yummm. Not pictured, equally as fantastic and low key scrumptious was the bread and olive oil dip. Fluffy and filling focaccia bread and a diy olive oil/vinegar plate. Loved that! When you feel like treating yourself nothing hits the spot like Italian and this was an elevated experience. The seasonal risotto had a generous amount of mushrooms and a fragrant cheese, delectable. Although I found it a bit Al dente for my taste. But wonderful flavors and textures otherwise. I tried my fiancé's Bolognese, I think it was my least favorite. I found the noodle texture a little elastic like and not as stunning flavor profile as the other dishes. But overall a place we would happily visit again. I will definitely make reservations next time. Although the patio is practically completely closed in and there are heaters, on a winter night without a jacket you'll be chilled. I'd like to try a carbonara or cacio de Pepe on our next visit.

Yelp
Best Italian food I've had in Oregon! The food was amazing, every pasta was cooked to perfection and nice portion sizes. They have a bunch of wine you can choose from and the service was amazing. Super friendly, knowledgeable about the food and wine, and they were talking and laughing with us. If you're in the area make a reservation. It's hard to get into but plan ahead. I promise it'll be worth it.

Yelp
Amazing a little pricey but some of the best food I have ever eaten. Fantastic service.

Yelp
We recently had the pleasure of eating at Rosmarino's and I will say it was a great experience. Service was super friendly and professional. Food came out much faster than I would have imagined. The ambiance is nice, simple decor with exposed brick walls. Almost made me feel like I was in a small trendy NYC place. You'll definitely need reservations unless you just happen to get lucky. Be sure to read their website carefully as there are only two days a week in which they have an ala carte menu. The others days are all prix fixe menus. We were a bit confused by this until someone at a local wine tasting room explained it to us. The dishes were amazing. I'm not sure I've ever had better pasta. Try one of their cocktails. Their ginger beer is made in house. My single tiny subjective comment would be that I wish they had more dishes without pork in the sauce, but that being said we were able to find a lot of things to try. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Worth going to! We loved the food and wine pairings. The experience is much like you have experienced in Italy, at least for this occasion. Wonderfully done.
google avatar

Yelp
The gnocchi is so good and soft. I didn't realize this was what the texture of gnocchi was supposed to be like, but IT WAS INCREDIBLE AND LIFE CHANGING. I got the wild boar gnocchi because the server recommended it. It is very hearty and rich--great if you are a big fan of meat and want something more filling. I could only finish half of my bowl because it was super filling! It is very strong in flavor and well seasoned. The all' alpina was absolutely fabulous and creamy. There are generous chunks of pancetta and mushrooms scattered and the entire dish was very well seasoned. Both dishes were more on the salty side. Service was so great! Most people dining in had made reservations but they were not accepting any more reservations when I checked so they made an exception and helped us to a table. We got our food really quick and enjoyed the suggestions of the waitress. The lighting and ambiance of this place is super neat and my friend and I had a great time chatting. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and lots of space between tables so you don't overhear others.

Yelp
Loved this place! Went for the 5 course set menu. Food is delicious, wine is great (and excellent value), and this is truly a labor of love for Dario and his team. They even helped us to arrange a ride home with one of the cooks (who was lovely). Just go!

Yelp
Came here after Good: - The wild boar pasta here was great - it was a heavy dish though so I couldn't finish it but I really loved the texture of the noodles - Great service - really nice waiters here - Great bread - loved how much bread they gave and it was so good with the olive oil and vinegar - Nice ambiance and good for hanging out Bad: - This place was really busy so it took a long time for food to come out - The outdoor patio was too hot so it was a little uncomfortable to go outside Overall really enjoyed this place and it's so highly rated for a reason!

Yelp
My husband and I had a 4:30 reservation for our anniversary yesterday. We enjoyed every bit of our experience. We started with the bread and oil/balsamic vinegar, or as my husband calls it "pain in the olio". It was very tasty. We shared the porketta salad, also very good. My husband had the bolognese gnocchi and I had the red wine braised lamb gnocchi. Both were amazing. We finished with sweet cream and the lemon cream gelato. I also had the lavender mock tail which was so good . My husband brought home a margarita pizza for his lunch. Our server, Skye, was wonderful and very helpful. And of course Dario, the owner, greeting us and all the other customers was so polite and friendly. Everything felt lighthearted and inviting. Very authentic experience. I highly recommend and look forward to returning.

Yelp
What an exquisite evening. We came to celebrate our anniversary and Rosmarino didn't disappoint. The service, food and and space were perfect. My wife loves Bolognese - Our server recommended this one and it was amazing. Silky noodles with melt in our mouth veal meat sauce. I had the Special Risotto of the evening which was prepared with roasted red peppers and Gorgonzola. We will be back because it was simply wonderful.
google avatar

DM C.

Yelp
After reading the reviews, we tried while on our trip from East Coast. This place did not disappoint. Cute, cozy atmosphere. In addition to wine (Italian not Oregon lol) they have some great craft cocktails. We had the Cacio Pepe and Lasagna. Both great. The Lasagna is an absolute must! Both spouse and I agreed it was amazing. Bread and desserts so good too. Service was fantastic and helpful (server recommended a great wine). If you want some freshly made pasta, bread (really everything) this is the place! Btw, we did the a la carte menu since a weekday night.

Yelp
The most fun I've had in a long time. The food was outstanding and the wine pairing was perfect. Dario is a delightful host and chef. Can't wait to go back with friends!

Yelp
Let me just start by saying I LOVE this place. I have been multiple times for both a la carte, the five course wine pairing dinner, and for pizza and gnocchi and this place is superb every time. The service is amazing, they truly make you feel like family when you come in. Dario the restaurant owner, his wife Sheena, and all of the staff are absolutely lovely. During the five course meal Dario explains how the dish is made and why he chose that particular wine pairing. He also comes around multiple times during the meal to check how you are enjoying it. They do a 5:00pm seating and 7:30pm seating for the five course meal (comes with a wine paring for each course) on Fridays and Saturdays. I would recommend making a reservation a month in advance as the spots book up quickly. They serve pizza and gnocchi all day long on Sundays. We love how light the little gnocchis are and they don't feel too heavy. Cant recommend this place enough!

Yelp
Wondering why a restaurant could possibly have a 4.9 Star cumulative total score ? Simply visit and see for yourself! WOW!!
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
We did the 5 course dinner with wine pairing. Such a cute, romantic place. Great experience, the food was amazing as were the wines. Service was efficient and they did a good job delivering the food as well as picking up after each course. The only thing I'd say should be added to this experience is a clean fork for each course.
google avatar

Aurora P.

Yelp
Excellent food, service & ambiance. The Chef, Dario comes out from the kitchen & chats with the customers. I felt like I was at Nonna House. Very reasonable prices. Next time, we'll have to try the Chefs Dinner pairings. This is the Best Italian restaurant in Newberg.
google avatar

Yelp
**please read the other 1 star reviews. Beware, this business' owner is unhinged. This place does not deserve any star. We came in without a reservation and they couldn't serves us (understandable). What I am PO'd about is I asked if I could use the restroom and they said "for customers only". WTF?! We tried to eat here and because you were booked you couldn't even allow a pregnant lady to use the restroom. Very unethical. ** to Dario Nice try with the narrative that we were unruly, drunks. My point is about refusing a restroom to people who had tried to be a paying customer. Also your wife politely explained that there is no bar at the restaurant, so I am really confused about your comment for shots. I was excited to eat at your establishment and have heard great reviews but the reaction we got to asking about the restroom and now additional response I will never visit again. Can't really understand how a business owner threatens a potential client. Let alone post a video without consent. I'm going to contact the Better Business Bureau.

Yelp
Where you want to be eating, drinking, and celebrating great meals. The wine wall is so much fun to explore. The menu offerings are so decadently delightful. The professional service is knowledgeable and on point. Thank You..

Yelp
The best Italian food in Oregon! From food, to service, to ambiance, everything is perfection! Dario & team know what they are doing and will be one of your best stops in the Willamette Valley.
google avatar

Yelp
This was amazing. Wonderful. Awesome experience. Let's start with the owner of the restaurant. We met Dario (not sure if that's how you spell it) and he was such a pleasure. Friendly and funny! He chatted with us for a bit and made sure we were satisfied with everything. The service was really great, too. Our waitress said they were short staffed and apologized for the delay in getting our drinks to us, but honestly there wasn't much of a delay at all. I ordered the cacio & Pepe al Tartufo for my lunch, which is a dish I've had a couple places, and this was my favorite. It was the perfect flavor and well balanced instead of being too much. For dessert, I had the most pleasant lemon berry cake with marscapone filling and could hardly believe it. I will be back and I'm already looking forward to it.
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
This gem of an Italian restaurant hardly needs my review, but it was such a great experience that it warrants another rave. We had a quiet Monday evening dinner, and it was delightful. We had the brasaola with arugula, and the roasted beet salad with truffled whipped burrata. We then had the boar pappardelle and the puff pastry wrapped beef sirloin. All delicious and of course the Italian wines were expertly suggested.
google avatar

Pratyush R.

Yelp
A pleasant surprise right in the heart of Newberg. Celebrated our date night and we got a favorite Italian place now. The chef is so social and friendly and introduced himself politely. The pizza is one of the best I ever had! It's the ingredients that are top notch and creates a juice tornado in your mouth right from the first bite. The Gnocchi is 5 star and must try. This place is always packed so plan well in advance. Highly recommended for people near and far in the Portland area!

Jim C.

Yelp
The owner of this restaurant is Dario from Bergamo which is not far from where our family lived for 15 years on Lake Como. He is absolutely true to his Italian origins and "fights the war" against Americanized Italian food. Come here to eat delicious food from a real northern Italian who wants his customers to enjoy authentic Italian food with a northern twist. The atmosphere is casually attractive and the wait staff are friendly and fun. Don't miss this Italian treat when visiting the wine country in Oregon

Kareem G.

Yelp
Hi , I went to Rosmarino two times and I would like to thank Dario, his wife and the team for the amazing experience . The food was sophisticated , healthy , a truthful Italian experience . Wine selection was excellent . I did appreciate that Dario is looking to make everyone happy , doing the extra mile to make the clients comfortable in a very fun atmosphere. Last but not least , Dario is a very nice, funny and personable person . He cares about his clients . I will be back . Highly recommend this restaurant . Karim

Yelp
Food is amazing, staff is attentive and efficient, and the ambiance is lively. Nice ROI!

Yelp
Everything about our experience here was fantastic. The food, drinks and service were outstanding. Our server was helpful and friendly. All the staff we had interaction with were the same. We had the burrata and prosciutto starter and a cocktail each. I had the house made limoncello spritz and my SIL had the lavender cocktail. Both are delightful. For our mains, I had the Pasta all'Alpina and she had the Bolognese. These are some of the best pasta dishes we have ever had. The ambiance was just right, even though it was over 90 degrees outside. The patio was decently cool and worth it! Can not recommend this place enough. We can not wait to go back!
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
What a fun and satisfying dining experience! We had minor concern about the patio seating in the cold of December, but other than some chill along the edges, it was fine. The very charismatic chef/owner explains every course with a touch of humor. Service was impeccable. Their version of a Negroni was probably the best I've had, apparently, it's their Italian vermouth that takes it over the top. I liked, but didn't love, the focaccia or dessert. However, all other dishes were wonderful. I'd opt for the wine pairing with prix fixe as their choices were excellent. With prix fixe I've found that five dishes is ideal, anything more, and all the tastes get lost.

Kelly S.

Yelp
The food was amazing!! Everything we had we so rich and delicious. Will definitely come back

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
The food is amazing! Dario takes the time to greet each and every table. He is such a great storyteller and really makes you feel welcome in his restaurant. The rest of the service staff is outstanding! As far as ambiance, do one of their wine and food pairings. You won't be sorry! The only thing that compares is a trip to Tuscany. Italian hospitality cannot be beat!

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place while I was visiting a nearby lavender farm and I couldn't be happier. This is by far the best Italian restaurant I have been to. I didn't have a reservation so I wasn't sure if I'll get a table but I was lucky I did. The menu has some great vegetarian options. I tried the Pesto Genovese and a glass of red blend and OH MY GOD! The pesto was soooooooo good, I could swear I inhaled the entire thing in a blink of an eye. It's made in-house and it was so creamy and delicious. They have a wine bar with little maps of Italy to indicate where the wines are sourced from. Very creative! The service was absolutely mind blowing. The servers were so pleasant to everyone and were checking upon and chatting with everyone regularly to make sure everything was okay. They have plenty of seating and parking is not too bad around the block. They even have a wine-pairing dinner with an exclusive chef (who was in Italy at that time) every Fridays and Saturdays. I will most definitely be going back to this place to try everything on their menu and the wines. A must-visit!!

Yelp
UPDATE: If you are reading this review, please make sure to read the owner's response below. It all makes sense. To answer his question, YES, there were multiple tables open during our dine-in experience, and after reviewing the email exchange that we had with the owner's staff, they were the ones that said they could squeeze us in. Seems very different from the story he detailed in his non-apologetic response. I will finish with, some of what I shared is what individuals in his OWN community shared. How could I have known he has turnover and that he leaves for extended vacations?? His own community thinks negatively of how his business is running... From what I've been told about our experience, it must have been an off night, or there was new staff needing to be trained better, but regardless I would never come here again or recommend it. I know they have a lot of five-star reviews, and everyone in the area raves about it, but anyone that works here and reads this review should know that our fifth anniversary was horrible. Please feel free to pat yourself on the back for that. If you're looking for a memorable night out, please go to Tina's instead. They are professional and provide a dining experience that is top-notch. My wife and I showed up early to check in for our reservation and upon entering the restaurant, were asked by a host or server (not sure what his position was) if we had a reservation. We told this individual what our reservation time was, and he began to say to us that since we were 18 minutes early, we should come back at our reservation time. He didn't say to wait by the side or sit outside but to come back... We get what he was trying to say, but the manner in which he did it was just awkward. We decided to walk around the neighborhood and shake off the uncomfortable experience, and immediately after taking a step outside looked at each other like, "WTF just happened." When we told this situation to friends who have worked in restaurants, they were confused about why showing up early for a reservation would be treated with such hostility. After returning at our designated reservation time (we made sure, we didn't want to be scolded again), we were sat at easily the worst table. It was right next to the serving station outside, where you could hear the servers gossiping, and everybody that needed to walk by came right next to your table. We noticed how every table gets bread and oil, but this was never brought over. Our server didn't even come to our table until 15 minutes after sitting down. At this point, they were already two strikes in for me, and I was trying to stay calm with it being our anniversary. When you have a bad table location you make sure to take mental note of the surrounding tables and which ones get filled. It was pretty shocking how long tables stay open between reservations and how people were seated... It was a choice by someone that we needed this awful table... The experience did not end there as about 50 minutes into our dining experience, one of the food runners came up and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. He looked at us weirdly when we told him we still needed to get our main course. After 50 minutes, we had only had an appetizer... crazy huh... For food, we ordered some bruschetta that was toast and cherry tomatoes... not anything to write home about. I will give them credit for the fresh pasta. It was tasty, but I would never return from our experience. So after finishing our main course, we did order a dessert. I was hesitant to give them any more of our money, but it was supposed to be a memorable dining experience. We split a tiramisu that we didn't finish. Then came the icing on the cake... After we had paid, the server said, "It's your anniversary, right? Well, happy anniversary". SOOOO he knew it was a special dinner for us, didn't put any effort into making it memorable, and once the check was paid, it was "happy anniversary." From what locals told us, the staff gets turned over quite a bit, and if that's the case, it's poor management. Poor training and poor etiquette by several members of their staff. We had to email about a reservation about a week prior because they were full on Open Table. If they aren't going to provide a professional service, don't take the reservation. People will easily go to a more professional establishment. Thanks again for the memorable night!

Yelp
My wife & I ate at Rosmarino last night for the first time. Staff were very friendly and sat us quickly. All of our menu questions were answered. We were attended to throughout the night and received our first course in a timely manner. We order soup and salad, both of which were delicious. For the main course we opted for lasagna & the daily special risotto both of which were both amazing. We finished the night off with dessert which was delicious as well. This location was a little bit of a throwback for us as it used to be our weekly Mexican restaurant 10+ years ago. Ironically enough we were seated at our same place however the building itself has been transformed to be open with exposed brick walls. This will be our new go to restaurant for special occasions or a great meal. My only concern is being able to get a reservation as more and more people find out about this location.

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner with Dario and his crew. Highly recommend doing one of his amazing 5-course dinner. Not only is the food incredible, Dario's introductions to all the courses will make you laugh. Grazie mille per la bella serata

Yelp
We arrived early to our reservation and they sat us promptly. I ordered the bolognese and my husband got the pasta della nonna. My husbands dish was great- creamy and the sauce had a nice balance of flavors. My bolognese was ok- the noodles were cooked perfectly but the sauce tasted porky- like they didn't use fresh pork. You also have to buy the bread appetizer. Pretty good service as we were in and out in about 35 minutes. Will probably be back as they have an extensive wine menu but I would steer clear of the bolognese the next time.

Yelp
By far the best Italian food I've had in Oregon! It's amazing to find restaurants with phenomenal food, but the ones that really resonate with me also offer a top tier experience and this place did not disappoint! The chef came out from the kitchen to help us pick some wine (from their wall of wine) that would pair nicely with our meal but also fit our palates. He was absolutely spot on and we both were super impressed with his recommendation and the variety of wine they offered from different regions in Italy. 100% have him assist you, it's a wonderful personal touch! The Prosciutto & Burrata was served on greens with a burrata & balsamic reduction and it was heaven! I could've easily just had 3 plates of that and been happy. Highly recommend! All of the pastas were extremely authentic and tasted phenomenal! The Crema di Pecorino al Tartufo was my favorite - had the perfect amount of truffle to compliment the dish nicely without over-powering it. I also highly recommend the Pappardelle al Cinghiale. The slow roasted boar in it was extremely tender and the taste was top notch. Noodles were all cooked to perfection! Finished with some gelato and were talking about returning for their five course dinner & wine pairing event before we even left the restaurant! Go here, you will not be disappointed! I'd like to mention staff was also phenomenal! They were all incredibly warm and knowledgeable.

Yelp
The menu features a variety of classic Italian dishes, all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. One of our favorites is the wild boar ragu. The salads are also excellent, and we especially love the one with prosciutto and burrata cheese. The service at Rosmarino is top-notch. Dario, the owner and chef, is always around to make sure that his guests are having a wonderful experience. He is warm and welcoming, and he takes great pride in his food. We highly recommend Rosmarino Osteria Italiana to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Italian meal. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
If you've read the previous reviews what more could I possibly say. Key words you might have read-"amazing", "wonderful", "delicious", "excellent"-you get my drift. Well, here's a word I've not seen applied -ineffable-words cannot describe! This is food/a restaurant/experience you will not likely forget. I've eaten in Rome, Venice and Livorno-all have superb restaurants. To be honest this place exceeds my experience in Italy. The Portland area/and surrounding suburban areas has nothing even close to offer-and there a some very good places. Dario(chef/owner) is a charmer for sure but his food is off the hook!

Yelp
Service was 5 stars all day long. We came here on a Saturday evening for their 5 course meal with wine pairing. What an awesome experience!! The owner himself comes out and explains the meal and how it was prepared. This place is perfect for a date night or special occasion.
