The 13 Best Restaurants In Waterloo

"We just know whoever made the table plan for Roti King has a very high score in Tetris. The tables in the loud, chronically busy, verging-on-chaotic Malaysian restaurant are packed closely together, with the excellent, namesake roti being ripped apart on every single one. If the words ‘walk-in only’ make your heart beat manically, rest assured. Unlike its Euston sibling, tables free up fast here. Once you do get inside, you’ll feel equally impressed that you easily get through a bowl of roti canai (our favourites are the beef rendang or chicken) and nasi goreng, and a plate of pisang (sweet roti with banana) in 45 minutes." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna

Really tasty food, and good portion sizes. The mutton curry was very tasty, and I preferred that to the chicken. I didn't try any others. The menu is small, but that helps with selecting your options and ensures that they've refined those specific dishes. The food came incredibly quickly, but it took a long time to pay. We came for a late lunch, and there was no queue.

Ate here last evening with my friends, and we all ordered different dishes to try a variety — roti with beef rendang kari, kari laksa, nasi lemak, and kaya roti. The food was lovely! As a South Asian, I really enjoyed the bold flavours, though my North East Asian friends found the taste a bit overpowering for their palate. I especially loved the kaya roti — it tasted like caramel inside a warm, crispy roti, though it’s actually made with coconut jam. I also got a Milo drink, which was nice but had way too much ice; I wish there was more actual drink in it. The staff were incredibly friendly. A special shoutout to the lady who served us — she kindly let us sample the kari laksa before deciding whether to order it, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience. I’d definitely recommend trying the roti, Milo (just ask for less ice!), and nasi lemak.

Had such a great experience at Roti King, Waterloo! I had the roti canai with chicken curry. It’s a flaky, buttery roti paired with rich, flavourful curry, absolutely delicious!! My friends had the nasi lemak, rendang, and char kuey teow, and everyone loved how authentic and tasty everything was! Service was top notch👌🏼 Special shoutout to Mehedi, who was super friendly and welcoming :)) Our food came out really quickly too, despite the place being busy. The atmosphere was cosy and lively, perfect for a casual meal with friends hehe Highly recommend if you’re craving Malaysian food in London!

Love the food. Authentic and tasty. Comfort food. We ordered Kway Teow with prawns and chicken, Nasi Lemak and the vegetarian redang that was made with mushrooms. It was delicious and the vegetarian redang was so good.. you won’t believe it’s made of mushrooms.. like beef! And a portion of roti and lentils. We want to ordered everything on the menu. Brought back happy memories when I was with family in Malaysia. Great vibe. Super friendly staff. 😍

The food is okay. But compared to the original one in Euston, still can see the difference. The mutton in roti canai is too hard to bite. Stir fire noodles is not very special. It is okay for visit occasionally. Staffs are nice.

This place has a buzzing atmosphere 😎 I really enjoyed the Roti Chicken and Ayam Goreng Berempah (Fried Chicken) 😋 For dessert I really liked the Roti Kaya with coconut ice cream and Teh Tarik Hot 👌🏽 I enjoyed the Lucky Buddha Beer too 🍺 There's no booking here, so I recommend coming during less busy times. Hope you enjoy!! 😁

We were a group of seven dining at Roti King Waterloo — my family of four, plus our friend, her husband, and their son from the UK who were showing us around. Her husband discovered this place thanks to the excellent Google reviews, and now we know exactly why it’s so highly rated. When we arrived, the place was packed, and we had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated. The host was fantastic — very efficient and kind. Even though the restaurant was about to close soon (he never directly told us this), he proactively asked if he could take our orders while we waited, which was very thoughtful. There was a funny moment when my husband tried to sneakily pay for the dinner early, but the host caught on and quietly passed the card reader over to our friend, whispering that he was trying to pay. We tried to insist on paying, but it didn’t work — a lovely gesture we appreciated. For the kids, we ordered three portions of mee goreng, fried chicken, and two sides of roti to share. The husbands went for beef rendang and roti canai with mutton, paired with Buddha beers. My friend and I ordered beef rendang, mee goreng, and nasi goreng to share. When the nasi goreng arrived, we realized it had shrimp, which was a problem because my friend has a severe shellfish allergy. Thankfully, the generous server immediately offered to take it back and remake it with chicken. He also let us know the mee goreng had shrimp too, so we switched that for char kway teow instead. We loved how considerate and attentive they were about our needs. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. My friend and I devoured our meals, and the husbands loved theirs as well. My husband was so impressed he insisted it was “heaven” and ordered two more rotis. Our older daughter, who normally avoids spicy food, couldn’t stop dipping roti into her dad’s mutton curry — she polished it off happily. Several different servers checked on us multiple times throughout the meal, making sure we were well taken care of. It’s clear why this place is always busy — excellent food, exceptional service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Having just returned from Malaysia in December, the flavors reminded me so much of authentic Malaysian cuisine. If you’re in the area and craving fantastic Malaysian food with friendly staff and great vibes, Roti King Waterloo is a must-visit.

I found this restaurant online and saw that they have a few branches. I was served by Mookie, who was very friendly and kindly let me leave my luggage while I used the restroom. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was delicious—especially the Pisang, a pancake with condensed milk and banana. The beef roti came with a flavorful, spicy sauce, though the meat could have been more tender. Overall, it’s a great restaurant. It was busy and clearly popular when I arrived around 12:30
