"Fact: Pizza is pandemic food. I’ve had more slices in the last year than in my 30-something years of existence combined (or, at least, it feels that way). One spot I can’t get enough of is Rotten City Pizza in Emeryville. Their pizzas are large, the crust is thin with a nice stiffness, and they use high-quality ingredients for the toppings. Before the pandemic, I used to love grabbing a pie from there and enjoying it over drinks at Prizefighter down the street, but my go-to move now is to get their new “fat slice,” which is essentially two large slices (a.k.a. a quarter of a pizza) topped with cheese, pepperoni, or whatever other pizza they’re serving that day. Get one and enjoy it under some sun down the street at Doyle Hollis Park." - lani conway

"The East Coast inspired pizza spot is open for pickup and in-house delivery (within Emeryville, with a three-pie minimum for delivery). It’s also on Postmates." - Luke Tsai

I love this place! They're just off the main streets and on a corner,so easier to see. I ABSOLUTELY could not get out the door without digging into the wings, since they were served up piping hot....and I definitely grabbed a pizza slice for a bite as well. These guys are friendly, hospitable, and really, in my opinion, the dough behind their delicious pizzas!!! And I really enjoyed the IPA choices, cold and great with the food.

Heroic slice on Hollis Street in the former location of the East Bay "red light center", Rotten City (so named for its prohibition-era reputation) offers a white slice, a cheese slice, a mushroom slice, a pepperoni slice and some other fancy schmancy additions. The dough here is crispy, flat, and hot with hints of sourdough and fermentation, and stands up favorably to all East Coast style contenders. While not being a dine-in spot, my two slices did not survive the trip to the hood of my car. Crunchy, chewy, lots of umami in the cheese and sauce. A really well done slice for Emeryville, plus Keith and Mike are super cool, and great additions to the neighborhood and have been here for about 15 years. (I slept on this place like forever. Apologies) Highly recommended!

Got a classic Neapolitan, the slice you should always judge a pizza place by. Crust was tasty with a nice crisp and cheese was decently well rounded, with just a little funk. Sauce was meh, tasted heavily of dried herbs and not much else. Would have been a great $3 or $4 slice. But $7?? Quality was not good enough to justify the price, sorry.

Great pizza spot. Does it by the slice, Double slices. Friendly staff phenomenal ingredients. The pizza is made properly and that says a lot Im definitely not generous about my pizza praise and I will be coming back here.

Perfect new york style pizza! From the texture of the dough, the texture of the cheese, the greasiness of it, the crust on the edges, everything was spot on and good! High quality ingredients. Overall, best pizza of this style I've tried in the bay area!

I love rotten city pizza! I used to go here all the time and then when I moved away I was super bummed because no other pizza place could even come close . The pizza is just as delicious as the day this place opened (always consistently perfect!!). Honestly, its the most amazing pizza I've ever had! Staff was really friendly and it was a fast and easy pick up. Can't wait to come back! Thanks!

Update 4th and last time: No extra fresh cheese as ordered, very very little Italian sausage or mushrooms. RIDICULOUS!!! NOT AGAIN!!!! time customer. I ordered the Calabrian Pizza, tomato sauce, cheese blend, house made Italian sausage, gaeta olives, Calabrian chili sauce, toasted fennel seeds. First, I should have checked how hot the Calabrian chili sauce is. It's very hot, so I won't do that again. I battled it throughout the night, if you know what I mean. 😵‍💫 That being said, it was a very good pizza. Yes, I'd prefer that they used a whole milk mozzarella, instead of a cheese blend and, yes, I think it's a pretty good crust, but the flavor could be further developed. I'm not sure if it's the flour or, maybe the rise could be longer. It's got the right texture but it's missing better flavor. The other toppings were great. Update: 2nd time. The cheese blend and crust problems have lowered my rating. Go to Nick's for a much better crust and cheese. I wish they just had a regular whole milk mozzarella option for their pizza and developed better flavor in their crust. They have the potential to be an excellent pizza. Update: 3rd time and probably last time unless I'm really desperate. Sadly, their Website didn't give me a chance to use my rewards points. It should be automatic. I ordered a margarita pizza to avoid the terrible cheese blend and get the fresh mozzarella. Now, again, I'd prefer just whole milk mozzarella, with a fresh cheese option. The cheese was almost not there. So was the basil and, the sauce, which is delicious, was mostly clumped in the middle. Again, the crust needs more development for flavor. As for the $17 of added pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms, there were about $6 worth of actual ingredients. As all have said, it's way over priced and skimpy. It is only due to laziness that I may order it again. You need to do much better at these prices.

Standout local pizza spot that is much roomier inside than expected. The thin style of pizza is well done with a good sear on the crust that stays crispy throughout with a nice chew and an excellent variation of toppings. Their sub selection is also great. Nice beer selection as well. A new outdoor patio compliments the upstairs play room with two TVs, pool table, and board games for a fun group outing.
