The 37 Best Restaurants in Milan, Italy | Eater

"Third-generation chef Michele De Liguoro and his sister named Rovello 18 after the address of their family’s fine dining restaurant Da Pierino, a Michelin-starred destination in the 1950s. De Liguoro isn’t chasing a star at Rovello 18, instead offering a more casual answer to Da Pierino. The homey yet upscale osteria fare includes pasta paired with creamy broccoli rabe, clams, and bottarga, as well as crispy risotto al salto topped with Lombard taleggio. Diners can watch the action unfold in the open kitchen while enjoying seasonal antipasti, including sauteed artichokes, puntarelle salad, and grilled pepper tonnato (caper-spiked tuna sauce). Rovello 18 is also a wine destination: Its collection of over 800 bottles is replete with microproducers and crucial bottles from Italy and France. Know before you go: If they’re fully booked, you can likely find a seat at the bar." - Elizabeth De Filippo-Jones

Rovello 18

"This lively and welcoming bistro furnished with smart wooden furniture is the setting for cuisine which focuses on carefully chosen ingredients presented with the minimum of fuss. Although the menu features a few specialities from Milan, most of the dishes here are Mediterranean in style. Interesting wine selection, including by the glass." - Michelin Inspector

Amazing dinner experience. Food was delicious and dishes were curated according to the season. We sat in the bar, which allowed us to see how the staff prepared the dishes, a beautiful and entertaining scenery to accompany the meal. The only thing I would point out is that the portion is rather small for the price point. Besides that, the environment is cozy and welcoming, and the staff is kind and friendly. We ordered the linguine with the vongole and the pappardelle with the funghi porcini, along with a small snack as a starter and four bottles of water, spent €80. Would revisit for a special occasion. Very nice place.

An alright experience but consider that is nothing out of this world. The prices are on the higher side, together with the rest of the city but unfortunately the food did not meet the expectations. As mentioned in other comments, we were also sat on the counter with a reservation. Which is stated on the reservation. The service was alright, the waiters are nice and welcoming. The space is also modern, well kept and there is attention to detail. For example the water glasses are a beautiful twist. About the food, unfortunately I was not very impressed. Don’t get me wrong, it’s quality food but for the price and how they position themselves I think its not there. We were served stale bread which we asked to be replaced and they did. The pasta dishes were good but lacking some details. For example, I was not served or offered cheese with the ragu. On highlights, the zucchini flower is delicious and well prepared.

Wow I don’t have enough words to tell you how good this place is you just need to go for yourself. Highly recommend getting a seat at the open kitchen was a great experience. Every dish was delectable. As someone from nyc with some of the best food this place was right up there with it.

We had a wonderful experience at Rovello Milan. We sat at the counter and watched the kitchen at work. It was like witnessing culinary art in motion. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, the service attentive, and every dish was beautifully crafted with authentic flavors. A truly memorable evening!

I guess the location of the place has changed now, we visited the restaurant when it was in Brera. We had dinner from here. The service was top notch, the 2 staff who were waiting on us were amazing, great suggestions and very polite and welcoming! While the menu was limited, we had their pasta, wine and dessert. Everything was top notch! Lovely Italian dinner experience it was. Also, they have a Michelin recommended bade in 2021 it seems, deservedly so! A little pricey you can say, but it was worth it. I would say the place deserved a larger outlet and better environment. Hence I believe they may have shifted into a larger outlet now.

I really enjoyed Rovello 18. As a solo traveler, getting a last minute reservation at the bar for one was easy. It was a great way to meet and chat with other ppl… especially if you’re traveling alone. Food is more elevated so expect to pay a bit more, but is worth it.

We loved our dinner experience! Our reservation was at the counter, we enjoyed watching the kitchen prep. Our waitress was friendly and great, she offered great suggestions for wine and food. We got the Pinot Grigio which was delicious. They have a wine menu for bottles under 40€ which we appreciated. For appetizers, we got the tuna stuffed peppers and the raw bra sausage with focaccia. The tuna recommendation was fantastic, we really enjoyed it. For entrees, we got the cacio e pepe and the octopus. The cacio e pepe was so so good and the octopus was cooked to PERFECTION. For dessert, we got the tirimisu which we devours in two seconds. It was a great first meal in Milan we definitely enjoyed every single thing we got.
