The Best Indian Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"A franchise from Surat in India, Royal Dine offers an extensive menu of Kathiyawadi fare from the westernmost region in the state of Gujarat. This hyper-regional cuisine is a fusion of Gujarati and Rajasthani fare. Pick from dishes such as Sev Tameta, an entree made with stewed tomatoes and topped with fine chickpea sev, or Kaju Gathiya Nu Shaak, a creamy entree using cashews as its main ingredient. To pair with the meal, ask for a ghee-laden, freshly made rotlo — a griddle-fried, gluten-free pearl millet bread. This bread does not show up on the menu. Add a side of Desi Gud with ghee, a homestyle condiment of shaved jaggery smothered in rich ghee. Additionally, there are three large screens playing sports, with at least one cricket match and a fourth playing desi music videos complete with karaoke lyrics." - Nandita Godbole

I am Mexican and greatly enjoy exploring Indian cuisine, particularly curries, which I find exceptionally flavorful. On my recent visit, I tried the Paneer Masala Dosa and the Plain Naan, both of which were truly remarkable. Although my expectations were modest, as I simply wished to experience something different, I was pleasantly surprised and highly satisfied with these selections. While the restaurant did not offer Samosas or meat-based dishes on the day of my visit, the options available were nonetheless excellent, and the establishment conveyed a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. I have no complaints regarding the experience; however, I would like to offer one suggestion for international visitors unfamiliar with Indian gastronomy: including photographs of the dishes on the menu would be very helpful. In my case, many of the terms and names were unfamiliar, given their specificity, and visual references would have enhanced the overall dining experience. ¡Oh! That said, the waiting time for both the dishes and the bill was somewhat lengthy—approximately 40 minutes. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this place. Hope to visit you soon again.

Some of the best Indian food we've ever had! Highly recommend the biryani, chicken tikka, butter chicken, garlic naan, vada pav and punjabi samosa. SERIOUSLY the samosas alone were probably the best I've ever had in my life. Also loved to see that the menu is 70-80% vegetarian. 10 out of 10

Google
Our food (we had the Royal Special Cheese Paneer Butter Masala and an order of gulab jamun) was incredible, and our server was outstanding. A couple of caveats - we requested our meal (which was easily enough for both of us) mild to medium, but we should have asked for it just mild. The gulab jamun, while delicious, was also a lot sweeter than we were expecting. We don't live in the area, but if we are back through again, we may well be back!

Delicious food. Methi pakoda and vegetable Manchurian is a must order in the appetizers. Baingan bharta and bajri no rotlo was amazing. Everything that we ordered turned out to be pretty amazing. Almost all the menu items are totally customizable as they make everything from scratch. Service was so good. If you have any dietary restrictions, you can call them in advance and let them know about it so that you don't have to wait much on a busy day when you dine in.

We have been to Royal Dine and we have not been disappointed. Both times we tried their Kathiyawadi dishes, and they were delicious. So far this is the best Kathiyawadi food we have had in the US. Service is great. We can't wait to visit again and try their dahi papdi chaat and Manchurian as recommended by the team.

Tried the Pani Puri, Ragda Chaat, and Mutton Biryani. The Pani Puri was crisp and flavorful, the Ragda Chaat was too tangy, but the Mutton Biryani was outstanding with its rich aroma and taste. The ambiance is vibrant and visually appealing, with a modern design and attention to detail. A great dining spot, and it’s open till 11 PM!

Google
place was very pretty and I liked the environment but the service and food was horrible. They didn’t have half of the menu items and he didn’t even ask us for our drinks or anything first, he just was in his own world on his phone and stuff. The food sucked, the chicken 65 was SO soft? That wasn’t supposed to be soft, that grossed me out and I felt absolutely disgusted. 🤢. The naan was okay but overcooked and dry, we literally dipped it in the raita because it was the only good thing. The chicken curry was gross, it felt uncooked and the meat in it was supposed to have bone but didn’t! It sucked and for a 2 hour drive here I would never go back or recommend this place. Also, the straw he gave me was gross and dirty and they overall are terrible. Would NOT recommend.

Yelp
Came around 8pm on a Friday. The space is really big and most of the tables were empty although more people did trickle in later. We saw they had a buffet so we checked it out and compared it to the menu. Since the buffet was only $13 we went for it to try different things. Buffet included rice, Dal, 2 chicken dishes, mutton, samosas, paneer, butter naan, and gulab jamun. Menu was South Indian. The chicken and samosas were my favorite. It's real heavy food so be prepared and there weren't any vegetable options which I would have loved. Be sure to come hungry if you do the buffet! Service was kind and attentive. Parking: private shared lot

Yelp
(I LOVE INDIAN FOOD.) Three things they don't tell you that they should: 1. If you like spicy the buffet is for you if you don't they have a sweet sauce you can pour over it to make it tolerable but it still has a kick. You can also order from the menu but the items I tried that way didn't impress me. 2. Nothing is translated. You don't recognize it, you are on your own 2. Even if you are with a group everyone is charged separately with additional surcharges so you are paying near $17.00 not the $13.00 advertised. Most buffets employees are quick to pick up used plates but not here. They piled up all the way up until two hours later after my group left. They were not apologetic about any of the above which shows a lack of respect for the customer. We were a large group (and we were not Indian) and it didn't seem like we were that welcome. I will not return.

Yelp
I ordered the chicken biriyani, which came in a clay pot. The portion was generous and it was flavorful, though I wouldn't call it the best biriyani I've had. Even though the menu and website advertise a buffet, there was no sign of it during lunch hours on a weekend. The restaurant was empty when I was there. Service was unattentive - even though I was the only guest! I had to ask twice for water. When it finally came, it came in a plastic bottle and no glass was provided. Although my opinion is based on just one visit, I'd say that there are plenty of better Indian options nearby.
