I just love Korean BBQ and I get it every time I can. On a weekend trip to Boston, I checked out this restaurants and it didn't disappoint. There was no wait and we sat immediately. There was a little wait for the food to come out but, it was fresh and delicious. we ordered shrimp, marinated beef, and pork. We finished off dinner with some cooling refreshing ice cream.

The ambiance was relaxing, not too hot because of the heat of several people cooking at once. The hostess/ server was so efficient, attentive and patient She took her time to explain the options available to us. It was a good experience for a first timer. They are a bit pricey compared to other hotpots I've been to but they are worth the experience. The food tasted good. I didn't enjoy the calamari though, didn't like the sauce on it, which ruined the taste for me, but otherwise, everything else was fine. I would definitely recommend it.

The food here is always great, so delicious but what makes it exceptional, is the service. The kindness and attention shown to you as a customer is fantastic. We mentioned once at the beginning of our meal that one individual in our party got to pick whatever they wanted because it was their birthday. We were surprised at the end with them singing Happy Birthday to him and giving him a big bowl of ice cream with a candle in it. This was his second time choosing to spend his birthday here and I can say without a doubt there will be plenty more special occasions celebrated at Royal in Quincy!

Google
I’ve dined at Royal Hotpot many times and figured it was finally time to leave a review. This is easily one of the best hot pot spots in the South Shore, if not the best! (I haven’t tried the Korean BBQ yet.) The food quality is consistently high, and the prices are reasonable for what you get. The ambiance is great, and I always enjoy the music. While they also offer sushi—which I usually get—the real star of the show is the hot pot. The rolls are decent and worth trying, but if you’re here for hot pot, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend a visit, and I’ll definitely keep coming back!

Google
The best hotpot spot I’ve ever been to! I’ve tried countless hotpot places, but this one easily became a favorite. The presentation was impressive, and the value is unbeatable—amazing quality at an incredible price. We ordered the winter special for $85, which included two drinks and two appetizers, and added the $27.95 beef and lamb platter. It was perfect for four people! The service was exceptional as well, with Carmen taking great care of us. Highly recommend!

Google
The food lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. It was overpriced, especially considering the quality. The shrimp tasted unfresh, and some of the beef was still chewy. There were also not enough vegetables or noodles in the combo. Honestly, nothing about the meal justified the high price. Although the restaurant itself is beautiful and elegant, the food did not live up to that standard. I won't be returning. I ordered three sushi dishes, and they served the sushi on a wooden cutting board, which looked unprofessional, especially given the $100+ charge for one person, I feel like the high price is unreasonable for the small portions and lack of any distinctive flavor. I'm extremely disappointed. I can't understand how this restaurant still receives positive reviews. Maybe I’m wrong, but this was not the experience I expected. I hope others pay attention before choosing to dine here.

I love this place. The food, the service, the ambience - everything is extraordinary. We tried the hotpot chicken spicy and it was very delicious. I would recommend this definitely specially for non vegetarian lovers and people who love Korean and Chinese cuisine. Thank you!

Yelp
Second visit... and this place is definitely a favorite! The sauce bar is a whole experience -- endless options and combos to level up every bite. If you're not careful, your table will be full and so will you. We did the BBQ + hotpot combo for 2... there were 4 of us and we STILL couldn't finish it. Also grabbed the potstickers (pretty sure they're laced with crack and the chicken with chili sauce -- OMG. Drinks? Lacking a little on the liquor front, but that's not stopping me. The food is absolutely worth it.

Yelp
Food was good and tasted fresh. Service was very attentive and overall good experience although a little pricey. Probably would try the other options next time. Nice to have the convenience of a parking lot next-door

Yelp
We tried a few dishes, they were mid. Did not do hot pot or BBQ so maybe those are better. Brought out wrong items at first but fixed long afterwards. Sushi - not great, would even say over has better at my local market basket. Bulgogi - Spicy wasn't very spicy,General Tso sauce. Non-spicy tasted like sugar beef. A seafood noodle soup - not much seafood with you also had to de-shell yourself and too many noodles, too little seasoning. Overall wasn't great. Servers were nice when I saw them which wasn't often. Not awful but not something you will want to take home either.

Yelp
You order a la carte here, but they have tons of options! But definitely very pricey. They had a set that was ~300 which was supposed to feed 5 people. We ended up spending around $90 pp but everyone was very full after! Love their dipping sauce station, so many fresh herbs and toppings to pick from, def top tier. Drinks are also really good, esp the cocktails.

Yelp
The a la carte ordering for Korean food at Royal is priced very reasonably and the quality is great! It's a fantastic spot to get your topokki and jajangmyeon fix if you're craving Korean in the South Shore! I've come to the restaurant several times for both lunch and dinner and there's never been a wait. I love the ambiance of the restaurant as there are partitions between tables which helps provide a more private feel when dining. Service can be a bit slow and the restaurant isn't great for large groups. I do think their hotpot is a bit overpriced; however, the presentation for hot pot items is very pretty!

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful with plenty of off-street parking. The service is good with the staff stopping by frequently to check on our table. The sauce bar has a huge selection and was kept clean. The menu is extensive and we decided to do the Korean BBQ. The combo didn't have options we would have wanted. The Banchan is pretty simple compared to Korean restaurants. The Korean fried chicken reminds me of a good Chinese crispy chicken wing with some sauce. The bulgogi and spicy marinated pork belly were my favorites. This place is a little pricey but is good to celebrate any occasion. Beautiful restaurant with solid food and great service.

Yelp
Very tasty. A bit expensive but worth it. My first hotpot experience. I sould just do bbq next time.

Yelp
First time here and already planning to come back with more family. We went around 2 on a Sunday and they had a few big parties but was quiet, by the time we left closer to 4pm they were starting to fill in. We had beef bulgogi which came from the kitchen, a specialty sushi roll and then the two broth shabu with our choice of meats and a vegetable display with udon noodles. You get to choose from a large sauce bar for what you want to pair with your food! Everything was delicious and the servers were very attentive throughout our stay. They seem to rotate between 3 servers to every table to help with showing what to do (we didn't need that) and refilling beverages and broth as needed. Will definitely be trying the Korean bbq next time!
google avatar

Yelp
We come here for hotpot only. Quick service! Still love their Mongolian broth! Make your own sauce at the sauce bar!
google avatar

Shelley Y.

Yelp
Service was friendly and food came out quickly. The floors and tables/seats felt sticky when we were there. Cocktails were too sweet for our taste and the meat quality was not good (for both hot pot and kbbq). Overpriced for the amount of food and quality. We also had an issue where our hotpot broth would splash on the kbbq grill, which would make the oil pop and splash us.
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
The service was very quick and ambiance was great-very fancy and high tech. I liked how the hot pot can be raised so you can see all your toppings inside. However, meat platter was very small in portion size and price was a little too high.
google avatar

Joseph L.

Yelp
The staff was very friendly and quickly sat usbon a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and I like the effort they put in to their decor. We tried all three options of hot pot, kbbq, and sushi. It's such a nice concept to be able to do kbbq and hotpot at the same time. For the hotpot you are also able to choose 4 different soup base. I especially enjoyed the option to lift the food in the hotpot so it is easier to reach. Everything we ordered, the veggies, meat, seafood, sushi were all very fresh. It was also a very fun experience to see the smoke coming out of their beautiful plating. Would definitely go back here whenever I am craving hotpot/kbbq/sushi at the same time.

Yelp
We had a Party of nine , our reservation at 5:30 had us seated in a remote room with only two tables for ten each . No one was sitting in the other table so we had the room to ourselves . It was cozy and the seats were very comfortable chairs. A big screen tv up on the wall with a remote control for us to change the channel to our overall liking. The Waitress I didn't catch her name was very friendly and very helpful to those in our party unfamiliar with how either Korean BBQ or Hot Pot . Me and my wife started off ordering a sushi roll each She got the Naruto Roll I ordered the Godzilla. Me and my wife shared the summer Korean bbq special. It was quite the experience and quite delicious. Cooking your own food as you sit down is a fun ordeal for me. Seasoning and spicing up the meats mushrooms and vegetables as well as cooking the beef to one's own liking . It guarantees satisfaction . When we left there were sooo many people waiting to get in. Including a group of 20 waiting for the two tables in the private room. I hope to one day soon return to this place with another large group. Me and my wife will likely return with just her myself and our two kids before that happens though. Such a wonderful culinary experience.

Yelp
Had been to Royal once before back in 2018. Sadly it was a one star wonder and the entire experience was disappointing & lackluster at best. However now...I stand corrected and thus rewarding them with the five stars they so richly deserve. A visit to their IG page is what drew me in to give Royal another chance. That & of course the endless persuasion from my girlfriend who loves a nice Hot Pot place & IG worthy food content. I can confidently say that Royal delivered in abundance, quality food with exceptional service in an atmosphere best described as aesthetically pleasing. The special added treat for us was... their also wide selection of marinated meats for Korean bbq! For their menu, they offer a variety of options along with some very diversely put together Hot Pot & BBQ combinations for you to experience the best of both worlds. Highly recommended & extremely reasonably priced for the sheer amount of food provided. Pick your broth, choose your meats and simply enjoy & have a wonderful time. If not those options, they also have an array of sushi options and entrees for you to choose from. Thank you Royal for the wonderful experience. We will most certainly be back. #redemption #redeemed Thank you Royal

Yelp
The food was so bussin it was insane and i got the hot pot thing combo or whatever and holy bro i was sent up to the gates of heaven cause of how good the food was. I 100% recommend and also the workers were very nice and polite. this one worker had amazing nails with like a hawaiian kind of design they were so tea. and the like vibe of the place was very nice cause it smelt good from all the food and they also give out free candy and i like the lights and seats of the place.

Yelp
Took myself down to Quincy to try Royal for the KBBQ! First of all, the place is huge... you are stepping into the palace of feasting. It was 2pm on a saturday and it was pretty dead but i guess it is more of an evening event. Service no surprise was smooth and I didn't have many questions since I've done this before. Get ready to spend because this spot is definitely pricey. They have combo sets that start at $100 but are only good if you want hot pot & kbbq and the meat choices given for the kbbq are not great... whose wants chicken for a KBBQ we want beef and pork! So we ended up just doing it a la carte style. Thinking about it now I just realized we could have done the combo and just cooked the hot pot meat on the skillet but alas didn't think that through. When doing a la carte you get to $100 very quickly but at least we got to get what we really wanted. My friend was the cook so she was doing her thing on the grill which also accommodates the hot pot but felt kind of small. Meat is meat and all in all yummy... I can't complain. They also do karaoke in the space attached which would be nice for a night where you want to do something fun but don't want to go out. Personally I don't think it's worth the visit to go to Quincy but glad I tried it. I will stick to my kbbq spots here in the city. Yelp
They were closing and we were tired and hungry so I quickly chose the Palace Deluxe Set The amount of food that came out was amazing. They gave us things for the Korean bbq and also hotpot along with bibimbap, tofu soup, sides, and egg soup (?). It was more than 3 of us can eat. I ate the vegan part with mushroom broth while my two lovely ladies enjoyed the meat and seafood. I can't comment on the meat but I loved the make your own sauce station and the mushroom broth. Our server was incredibly nice and helped us cook most of meal. Overall great dining experience!

Yelp
We have visited twice in less than a month. The hotpot is so good, they have a variety of broths to choose from, the Chongqing mala broth and the kimchi broth are our two favorites but the beef and tomato and the house special are also really good! The tables sit 6 comfortably but the people on the edges either don't have access to the veggies and meat towers or to the broth so i recommend only going with 4 unless you request a table that isn't a booth. The service has been ok both times although the waitresses can be a little rough sometimes but luckily you don't have to deal with them much. It can get pretty busy and a bit loud but the way the tables are set up it doesn't affect the experience much, if at all. Parking lot is available but can be a but small, and it's on a hill so beware to wear good winter shoes if you're going in the icy months or you WILL slide down the hill.

Yelp
Huge space, very attractive ambience, and excellent service. Can understand why the big parking lot was quite full when we went. Food was pretty good, not out of this world or anything but nothing to complain about. Hotpot was better than most I've had. Also had the seafood pancake and pork and calamari bulgogi. The calamari was a bit tough and probably frozen not fresh, and the pork was a bit sparse considering how much the dish cost, but it was well seasoned, not too spicy and not too bland. Seafood pancake was good although the actual seafood in it was slightly bland, again makes me wonder if it was frozen seafood they used. All in all, it's a solid place for a nicer, somewhat more upscale dining experience. Would be a good place to take a date. Would I make this a regular eating out place though? Doubtful.

Yelp
Our party of 4 ordered the chef's favorite set for $138. It came with a bunch of things for hotpot and the kbbq grill. The combo included things such as beef bibimbap, kimchi stew, corn cheese plate, and various meats and veggies for both hotpot and bbq. The korean dishes were ok, but definitely didn't taste like authentic Korean that you can get in Allston. The meats and veggies came in beautiful presentation with dry ice smoke and cool displays. Our waitress was very attentive and the plates were cleared from our table in a timely manner. The best part is that the table has a button for hotpot portion to lift so you don't have to go digging for your food. The decor is very well done and it's clean, so it's a great place for special date night, but it's not a place that I can picture myself going too often because of the pretty steep prices.

Yelp
Used to be such a spot with all the ayce options but i get it, times are tough with inflation and stuff so no more ayce but this place still has everything. If you're hanging out with picky eaters, you can't go wrong with royals. They got hot pot (which i think was decent fair warning could get very spicy), sushi which they offer lots of cool maki rolls and korean bbq which was ok. Our only complaint is everything is a lil pricey for the amount of food we got. Service was quick and they put your meat and orders on cool display carts and stuff. We might go back again and probably will try karaoke downstairs next time (yes! They also have karaoke and a cotton candy machine lol)
google avatar

Anasia C.

Yelp
Food is amazing as always. I absolutely love the dumplings, they are my favorite appetizer. Elva is just a great waitress. She's always so fast and informative, especially if you are new to Hotpot/KBBQ. I come here pretty often, she's always so nice. Music is always good and upbeat, sets the tone and you're bound to have a great experience.

Yelp
My friends recommended this place and I absolutely love it here! You can get all the tasty food, it's very cozy, very chill atmosphere. I recommend this place 10/10, service is also top notch!

Jay L.

Yelp
Great service and value overall. The quality of the meat was good. Didn't come with all the bells and whistles (banchan) that we get at a real Korean bbq restaurant. There's a wait so go early when the door opens.

Wing L.

Yelp
The staff was rude, with the price they charge, I would expect the service to be better. Our party of three had hot pot and sushi, we wanted a pot with a divider for the same broth. The staff were talking rudely telling each other what we were doing and making fun of us. Also, the staff who served us looked pissed and acted like she didn't want to be there. I would never go back there again!

Theresa M.

Yelp
Great food, service was stupendous and Carmen was very attentive and friendly !!! Thank you Carmen

Yelp
Upon arrival, there is a large parking lot with plenty of spots. We came on a Thursday night around 8pm and there was no wait. We had a larger party and we had to be seated at 2 different tables, one right next to the other. There are plenty of food options: hot pot, korean bbq, korean food, and sushi. There are sets you can order or order al carte. This place is more on the expensive side however well worth it. We also tried the lycheetini and mojito which were both pretty good. The sauce bar is INCLUDED in the meal with no additional cost. The meat is good quality and vegetables seemed fresh. The kbbq meat was full of flavor. Servers were attentive and came around whenever we needed something.

Chrissy K.

Yelp
Parking: Free lot Ambiance: Casual and nice atmosphere Price: Pricey. Everything is a la carte. Food: I ordered the shabu and it was definitely not the same as what I'm used to. The meat portion was good, but it wasn't as tender as what I expected. Everything was also a la carte. Even the vegetables, so I wish they provided the standard mixed vegetables with the meat ordered. I also wished there were a little more options at the sauce bar. The sauces provided were a good amount, but there was no ponzu or shredded radish, which are usually standard. The soup base was really good, I ordered the tom yum less spicey. And I like how they provided the sifter to take out the oil. You can also lift the base of the hot pot if you lose your vegetables or meat.

Billy V.

Yelp
Dan and Carmen gave me great advice on what to order. Our meal was fantastic and I can't wait to come back!

Nishelle B.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Royal is the only place that I will eat hot pot from! They're always clean, fresh and tasty! The staff is friendly and accommodating! There are always so many options to choose from, but you can never go wrong with the basics! I tried K-BBQ today for the first time! LOVED IT! Elva-Nina was AMAZING ! She worked really hard and ensured that we were well taken care of ! Will always choose Royal for a quick bite to eat!

Yelp
My wife and I were visiting some family friends in the Boston/Quincy area so we went to Royal Hotpot where our friend had been once before. It's a large place and has its own parking lot shared with some of the other businesses. We got the Korean BBQ and Hotpot Combo Platter which was more than enough food for 4 people and one toddler. The place was really clean and the meats (steaks, marinated pork), seafoods (homemade fish balls, squid), and veggies were very fresh and high quality. We substituted one of the meats for salmon (can't remember what we subbed for), and the salmon was good. Combined with all the different Korean bonchon and other side dishes (cheese corn, spicy rice cakes, bibimbop, salad) were pretty good. There's a sauce station where you can make your own sauces. The most impressive thing was their electric hot pot setup which had two soup stations and had not only temperature settings but also had a automated function to lift all the food contents out of the soup, opposed to using small soup strainers to fish out items. It almost looks like a deep fryer. We got one classic broth and another a spicy broth, the spicy broth gets stronger over time. This was a really nice hot pot experience, maybe we'll come back next time we visit.
google avatar

Sunina G.

Yelp
We had a great time here! We did the hotpot and got one spicy broth, a mild broth, and the piggy broth. The flavors were great - loved that the spicy actually had heat! For items, we got the meat platter, the veggie platter, the noodles, and lamb and beef platter. Everything was fresh and delicious. we also got the steamed egg (so good) and the teriyaki chicken to grill. Loved getting to create our own sauces (it was a fun adventure). Will def be back.

Jeffri B.

Yelp
Great service from Elva. she was very attentive and making sure we were all set through out. the food was amazing I love the chicken fried rice. the ambiance and setting is nice and so welcoming.

Danny D.

Yelp
This is one of my best favorite places , The warm welcoming from Carmen and the girls makes you feel really very comfortable and special, not talking about the food which is the best in town. I strongly recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere to enjoy food and ambiance. I give it 5 stars and 5 smiles .
google avatar

Jasmine T.

Yelp
YUM !!! Okay I will have to admit first time going to a hot pot so I was not sure what to expect . I visited Royal Hotpot BBQ and Bar because I was in the South Shore area. There is a huge parking lot so no need to worry about parking ! And yes it's free . As soon as you walk into the restaurant you are greeted by the sweetest servers ! They immediately sat me and my family to our seats. It was my first time so they took the time to explain the process to me . After she explained the process I got up and it was time to make my sauces !! I made this peanut sauce to glaze the meat and it was delish ! Talking about meat please check out the pictures you won't be disappointed. I give this restaurant 10 out of 10 for ambiance , food and attentiveness from servers . I would love to come back .

Yelp
Love the interior design. One of the reasons I would recommend this place. Food presentation is a win especially the smok coming out from the seafood platter. Tomato broth was delicious. It tops the other hotpot places I go for tomato broth. Loved the white fish and the measles the most in the seafood combination. Service was great as well.
google avatar

Billy B.

Yelp
I went there on a date. My friend had fun speaking Chinese to the waitress. She's been learning Chinese on Duolingo. We had great food and wine. Everyone was very friendly. We did the hotpot and grilling. We would definitely go back.
google avatar

Vanessa A.

Yelp
Plenty of parking here- lots of seating and they also offer private rooms. The options on the menu really are great for first timers as they offer different hot pot meals at different price points and they come with a good variety of food items. Here, you have the soup and grill in your table. The cotton candy machine is pretty fun touch for the children. The food was pretty fresh and presentation was beyond average. It's worth it to try this spot!
google avatar

Ti W.

Yelp
Hotpot was good. The beef and lamb were fine. This is a great place for those who would like to try both hotpot and bbq. They also have sushi.

Bryan M.

Yelp
Best hot pot AND KBBQ in the area by far. Carmen was the best waitress. She swapped the BBQ plate often so the meat didn't get that burnt flavor and she was super nice.

Peter V.

Yelp
The food was so good. and the workers were nice. And nothing bad happened the place was clean and all. 5 stars
google avatar

Antonio S.

Yelp
Everything is great here! Food and the experience Tofu Kimchi Soup! Good stuff! Marinated Short Ribs
google avatar

Lan T.

Yelp
The presentation was good but the food was so so. Pricey. The wait was awfully long. You can make reservation on Yelp. The service was okay. It could have been better. The waitress helped the table next to me grill the food, but not my table. Not sure why. I thought that was weird but that wasn't the main reason why I gave 3 stars. I don't think I would come back, especially with so many other hot pot options in the area.

Yarisel A.

Yelp
Go to spot with friends. food and ambiance is great. shout out to the best server Dan for hooking us up!

Annilyn T.

Yelp
It's been a few years since I've been here before. It wasn't too bad. A lot of things have definitely changed over the years. First they no longer have hot pot which is a bummer! They got some combos which was pretty good and also a good amount of food for a party of 3 and a toddler. Only downside was the server didn't put it the sushi that my husband ordered and when it came (because we complained) it wasn't the one he wanted bear in mind the menu was so blurry that even when you zoom it in we still can't read it. I hope a manager looks into it to save other costumers in the future of being frustrated like us. The hotpot and kbbq that we got was not bad. Good amount of food. Would probably go back one day

Yelp
Had the pleasure of trying Royal Hot Pot this past weekend with some friends for the first time. Right when we walked in, I was immediately excited to eat as all of the food being brought to other people's tables looked delicious. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive, but good service couldn't save me from myself... As someone who loves spicy food, I'm constantly underwhelmed by the level of heat that most restaurants offer. Our server insisted that their version of spicy would melt my face off, and she was right. We went with medium spicy broths and they were perfect. I was sweating the entire meal (which I'm writing as a good thing), and my face tingled to perfection, but I couldn't stop eating the delicious food which made me sweat more, and made the tingling sensation in my face increase. By the time I finished eating, the temple that is my body was on fire, and would remain so for a day. Exceptional meal. Five stars.

Yelp
After a new makeover during the pandemic, Royal no longer has the AYCE option which is disappointing. However, now you can hotpot and KBBQ at the same time which sounds like the dream! I came with a group of 10 for a birthday and we reserved one of the private rooms for 2.5 Horus - minimum spending is $400. We ordered one of the sets which the waitress said it feeds 8 and then ordered a few other dishes and drinks to meet that $400 requirement. The staff was friendly and checked up on us frequently. The food came through quickly and it was all so delicious. Overall pricey for what it was but the experience with friends is priceless.

Yelp
This might just be my favorite hot pot place of all time. The service is worthy of 5 stars and the food is fresh and served quickly. It's also the most interesting hot pot restaurant I've been to in recent memory with displays of dry ice and beautifully arranged platters. They also have an intuitive pot that has a button that actually lifts the food out of the broth so that you can easily locate and pick out your favorite morsels that would've otherwise been lost in the abyss. The house broth is flavorful and coats your mouth in a rich fatty flavor that doesn't overwhelm the flavors of the food. I'm impressed!

Yelp
Dinner here was pretty good. I loved everything about it. I'm alittle particular on service, especially at a price point like this. The Yelp page even lists it at $$$. So that's why I took off a star. I ordered the spicy broth and royal beef party. Great presentation, but they failed halfway by not explaining the different types of meats. I even asked her if she could tell me but I don't think she heard me. Also I noticed on some Yelp photos that they had the bear shaped spice cube before they create the soup. Mine just came out as soup. Sauce bar has everything you need and more. Fresh cilantro, peanuts, peanut sauce and chili oil. I asked for iced tea and they only had the sweetened kind that tasted like one of those Asian canned drinks, not bad but I prefer unsweet iced tea. I would come back here.
