Tried Rua Thai for the first time and had a great experience overall. One dish that really stood out was Pad Sa Tor (stink bean stir-fry). I had never tried stink beans before, and the server kindly explained what it was. It’s definitely a unique flavor — a little funky but surprisingly fragrant and very savory. The pork was stir-fried with shrimp paste, which added a lot of depth, and it paired extremely well with rice. Different from what I usually order, but I’m really glad I tried it. We also ordered the shrimp donut as an appetizer, which was crispy and delicious when dipped in the sweet chili sauce. The yaowarat duck was flavorful with crispy skin, and the pad see yu had great wok flavor. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. Overall, the food felt authentic, the service was friendly, and the menu had a lot of interesting options beyond the typical Thai dishes. Definitely a place I’d come back to if I’m craving Thai food with bold flavors.

We love the interior environment of this restaurant!! It’s so pretty and elegant. Our favorite dish is the Gra-Praw Over Rice. I recommend everyone to try it! The Tom Yum Soup is creamy and super flavorful! The mama instant noodle and crab curry are okay. Overall we had a great experience. The waitresses are all very nice!

Came here for a fun night out and RUA Thai delivered great atmosphere and food. The vibe is lively and really does feel like a Bangkok street stall. We loved the Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns—the instant noodle cup presentation was as tasty as it was fun, and the prawns were juicy. The Pineapple Fried Rice with Softshell Crab was also a standout, with the crispy crab adding a fantastic texture. The Appetizer Sampler is perfect for trying a bit of everything, and the Duck Crepe was a flavorful start. A solid choice for a casual, flavorful meal with friends!

Felt like stepping into Thailand 🇹🇭 the moment we walked in—beautiful Thai-inspired decor and a very relaxing vibe. The staff were friendly and attentive. We loved the chicken satay, Tom Yum Soup with Tofu (mild, warm, and comforting), and the Mama Tom Yum served right in the cup 🍜. The Duck Yaowarat was tender, flavorful, and perfect with rice. Overall, a chill and satisfying Thai dining experience.

Decor is super cute- traditional elements and lots of color and florals Staff is very friendly and attentive Food is delicious. Thai iced tea was great. Green curry with chicken very tasty. I had as is, so spice was a little more than medium. Spring rolls had nice crunch and the sauce had great flavor. The peanut dressing for the salad was light and tasty. Overall, great lunch experience. Would come again if I'm in the area.

Finally found the Thai spot we’ve been craving in BK! Rua Thai’s vibe is cozy and fun (floating market inspo is so cool), and the food is next-level fresh. Shrimp donuts were crispy perfection, Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns had insane flavor and spice, and the drunken noodles were loaded and wok-tossed just right. Friendly service, great portions. We’ll be regulars now. 🌶️🍤 Highly recommend to anyone hunting for authentic Thai in Brooklyn!

If you’re getting tired of the usual Thai dishes, this spot near Dumbo is such a fun surprise. Definitely has that street-food vibe, basically heaven for anyone who loves fried goodies and carbs. 🍍 Royal Pineapple Fried Rice Came here mainly for this and it did not disappoint. The pineapple is sweet and fragrant, and the soft-shell crab and fried shrimp are super crispy. The cashews add a nice touch too, wish they were a bit crunchier, but overall the dish is addictive. 🍩 Shrimp Donut Dip it in the sweet & sour sauce and it’s perfect. 🦀 Crab Curry Crispy soft-shell crab with yellow curry is already a win, but mixing it with rice is when you realize there’s so much crab meat hidden at the bottom. Extremely satisfying. 🍗 Rua Volcano Thai version of sweet & sour chicken, comforting and so easy to enjoy. 🥭 Mango Sticky Rice The sticky rice is soft, sweet, and rich because the coconut milk is fully cooked into it. Only downside is that it’s not mango season, so the mango wasn’t the sweetest, but now I finally understand why this dessert is often “summer only” at many restaurants.

Loved everything ordered here! The Pad Krapow Pork was super flavorful with just the right amount of spice, and the Thai Tea Pad Thai was such a fun twist — rich, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced. The Leaf Pudding was light, fragrant, and a really unique way to end the meal. Cozy vibe and great Thai comfort food.

Rua Thai NYC is a Smith street staple serving up photo worthy cocktails and quality Thai food in Brooklyn. Don't skip the curry dumplings or the pineapple fried rice! It was well worth the visit! Solid service and calming ambiance as well!

Came to eat here at night and saw all the great reviews so figured I'd give them a chance for dinner. Started with the crab Rangoon and it was pretty average the oil they fry it wasn't fresh so there was black spots all over the Rangoon Five out of 10 And then I tried the Thai fried rice and upon my first bite there was a humongous bone wrapped around a piece of chicken which almost cracked my tooth. Minus that horrifying experience. The fried rice is pretty bad, lacking flavor and just seemed like empty carbs. 1/10 and almost caused my physical harm. Won't ever come back

3.5. After checking in at another local Thai spot and left ignored for 30 minutes, we upped and left. Next stop--Rua Thai. We took a leap of faith after an unpleasant experience last year and revisited. This time, all was quiet as we entered and throughout dinner. The large (almost too bright) chandelier was a stunning welcome and once settled, water was served in lovely copper cups. We shared the steamed vegetable gyoza for appetizer. Not bad but not the best. My order was Spicy Tofu with Chinese Broccoli. Good thing I asked for Steamed tofu since the dish is made with deep fried tofu. The other order was Chicken with Garlic. I had a taste and although the flavors were good, the chicken was overcooked. Service, at times, was lackluster and clumsy. Overall, we were satisfied and I will return again. In fact, the dish I ordered might be on repeat. I really liked it.

My mom said her friend thought the food here was yummy, so I brought her here to try it. The service was really great, and most of the food was ok, but I was really disappointed with the majority of their deep-fried foods. They were too dry, overcooked, and bland. Shrimp Donuts - Golden fried breaded shrimp donuts. $15 5/5 This was the best thing I had here. I know I said their deep-fried foods aren't good, but this was one of the exceptions. The shrimp was bouncy and succulent. The batter was just right and tasted pretty light. The donuts were served with a sweet chili sauce. Duck Crepe - Crispy duck, cucumber, mix salad wrapped in roti bread. $12 4/5 This was an inventive dish. The roti bread was nicely crisped. The layers of salad leaves and veggies gave a nice moistness to the dish. The duck was good too. One order of this is pretty filling despite being an appetizer. Kao Pad Muk / Squid Ink Fried Rice w/ Fried Calamari 3.5/5 It sounds interesting, but it was not memorable. The salted egg yolk flavor was very subtle, even though the salted egg yolk crumbs were sprinkled all over the dish. Not the best calamari I've had, but also not the worst. Not sure how strong the squid ink flavoring should be, but it wasn't very strong here. Pad see yu with crispy chicken - $18.95 3/5 You get to pick your desired protein with the pad see yu. I went with crispy chicken because I haven't seen that option before at other Thai restaurants. The pad see yu itself was pretty good, but the pile of crispy chicken on top was a no-go. As mentioned before, they don't do deep-fried foods that well. It didn't really taste like chicken because all the juiciness was sucked out of it, and it was hard to detect the chicken taste. The batter was too much (too crispy and dry). I should've gone with a different protein. Branzino with Massaman Curry 3.5/5 The massaman curry was great. It actually went really well with the deep-fried branzino. But the branzino was flavorless without the curry. My husband really enjoyed the fish, though, and my mom was obsessed with the curry. Royal Pineapple Fried Rice 3/5 The fried rice was fine, but I didn't appreciate how the seafood was piled on top of the pineapple opening. You have to clear all the seafood before getting to the rice. The seafood was deep-fried, which I wasn't aware of - maybe it was depicted in the photo, but I can't recall. And unfortunately, the deep-fried seafood was not that great. The shrimp, in particular, was overcooked. I did enjoy the big pieces of pineapple slices on the side. Pad Puk Tofu - Sauteed mix vegetables and tofu $17.95 4/5 I enjoyed this sauteed dish of vegetarian ingredients, but the price is pretty steep for what it is. It came with a plate of plain white rice. Chicken kra-prao - 1/5 You get to pick the protein for this dish, and we went with chicken. Something about the flavor was just not enjoyable for me, so this was my least favorite dish. It came with a fried egg on top and a bed of rice. The chicken part of the dish could've used some sauciness. It was very dry and didn't look appetizing. Teriyaki fried rice 4/5 I didn't try the steak since it was kind of red/pink, but I did enjoy the fried rice. My group said the steak was good, though. We had wanted to order an udon dish, but they ran out of udon for the day! It was only lunchtime when we went, so we were taken aback.

My friend and I decided to check out Rua Thai on a Thursday at 5:15pm. The interior has an instagrammable aesthetic, perfect for catching up with friends or for date night. We were the only people in the restaurant the entire time, but it was a stormy day, so that could have impacted the decisions of others. I got massaman curry with tofu ($17.95) and my friend got pad see yu with pork ($17.95). The branding on my friend's pad see yu was a nice touch! Though prices are comparable to other Brooklyn thai places, I do think the dishes are on the smaller side. Generally, the food was tasty, and I would recommend it if you are in the area. For me, I prefer a less liquid consistency to my curry and a stronger peanut flavor. I had no issues with spice for this, so it's a good choice if you are sensitive to spice. Service was very attentive! We had consistent water refills and check-backs. I would come back to try one of their special dishes, to see if those deliver more on flavor.

Came here for an early belated birthday dinner with a friend of mine. We ordered crab rangoon, curry dumplings, crispy chicken pad see ew, and chicken drunken noodles. The food was delicious. The curry dumplings are filled with shrimp and chicken. They were spicy but delicious. If you have a low spice tolerance, don't order it. The grab rangoon was the surprise treat for the night. I tend to not like crab rangoon from too many places because often times the cream cheese flavor is too strong and overpowers the crab. However, they did a great job here of balancing the flavor profile of the crab with the cream cheese. If you're in the Cobble Hill area, definitely check them out.

When there are so many Thai spots within a few blocks, it can be hard to choose where to go, but this is one of my favorites in the area. The curry and noodle dishes are consistently great, and the massaman is my go-to. Takeout is just as good as dining in, and the portions always come with plenty of protein and veggies. My only small complaint is that the spice level tends to run mild even when I ask for it, but everything tastes so good that I keep coming back anyway.

Ate lunch here on a Saturday. The food was very delicious. The appetizer tray comes with a variety of sampler with different sauces which I really enjoyed. The clay pot rice was good but the only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't enough meat in it. The calamari is crispy and the spicy sauce accompanied with it made it very delicious. The servers were very attentive. Refilling our waters frequently and always checking up on us throughout the meal. This is a great place to have lunch or dinners beautiful pictures of Thailand fill the walls of the restaurant.

Like the Phoenix, Rua Thai has arisen from the ashes of Kor Tor Mor, bigger and better than its predecessor. Actually, it's not bigger. It's exactly the same size as the previous restaurant. But so far, I do like it better. I think you have to dine in to get the full effect of the "Floating Market Inspired" cuisine, but thus far I'm deeply, deeply content with the extremely flavorful takeout we've been getting. Unlike some dime a dozen Thai delivery joints we've encountered, Rua incorporates little touches that amp up the flavor of old standbys like Pad Thai and red curry into something I actually want to eat. My guess is it's a little more lime, a little more fish sauce, and a lot more deliciousness. My daughter even branched out into pad see ew (a first) and now loves it, even if she calls them "mushroom noodles." I guess they look like mushrooms? I dunno, but I can't wait to dine in and see these beautiful dishes as they were meant to be eaten.

I was walking along Smith Street when I stumbled upon this beautiful restaurant. I was in the mood for some Thai food for a while and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the Shrimp Donuts for my appetizer and they were very delicious. For my entree I had the Pad See Yu with Chicken. It was well prepared and very tasty. I enjoyed my meal and I would definitely come back here to try other options on the menu. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The customer service was excellent.

I enjoyed my visit to Rua Thai; the customer service was terrific! The ladies were very attentive and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we wanted. I initially came here for the shrimp doughnuts, but I was disappointed because they didn't taste like shrimp. I tasted more oil than anything else. We also ordered calamari, which was better than the shrimp but lacked flavor. I ordered a drink called Kwan-ream it had coconut rum, amaretto, matcha, and kinako. I tried to like it but it was way too sweet for me. The waitress was understanding and switched it for me to a Tom Ka Za. That drink had rum, coconut, lemongrass, and limeleaf. It was better and had a good balance between the sweetness and alcohol. I plan to return again to try other items from their menu and hopefully I have a better experience.

Popped into to this place for lunch and had a great dining experience! Wanted to try something new and the Tom Ka Soup with Chicken was elegant and flavorful with a unique broth. Ginger Sauce with Real Crispy Duck, as opposed to the Mock Duck option listed on menu. Asked our server and was told it was not real duck, but they could do real crispy duck, Duck was tender crispy and tasty with the ginger sauce. Another great find in this neighborhood joint.

I really loved the decor and ambiance of this place. Was greeted and seated immediately. It wasn't very busy at that point, took a few minutes before someone to come take our order. No biggie, we weren't ready. We had the spring rolls as an appetizer (very delicious) fresh, hot and crispy. We both ordered the shrimp pad see ew, my all time fave, I added salmon to mine. Why I thought it'd be mixed in, I don't know haha, but it was a piece of salmon on he side. My cousin noticed immediately, how her dish looked more flavorful with sauce ( look at the pics to understand). Overall the dish was tasty. To drink we boat tried the floating market, Tequila, elderberry kombucha, lime juice, sour mix with gummy bear garnish. There was no gummy bear garnish, but overall a good drink. I also had the lychee tini, which I enjoyed a bit more. It did take a while for the waitress to check in with us, especially when it was time to pay. But other than that, it was a very pleasant experience and I would definitely visit again.

I've been wanting to try this Thai spot for a while -- the food presentation looks amazing and there's a few trendy menu items I'm guilty of being intrigued by. Came during a weekend afternoon and place was kinda empty. The staff were nice and accommodating. Decor was a mix of culture and modern. Based off pictures, I really wanted to try their Mama Yom Yum Grilled River Pawns special but ended up ordering the Tom Yum Noodles Soup instead. Also got the Crying Tiger and Shrimp Donuts. I was surprised the Tom yum noodles came in a clay pot but the Tom yum soup was just the right balance of sour and savory that I like in authentic tom yum. My choice did not disappoint. The shrimp donuts were crispy and have a generous amount of shrimp. This is a must try appetizer. The Crying Tiger was also delicious. The beef was well flavored. The butterfly pea rice was interesting. Overall, great food and ambiance. Park Slope have some great Thai restaurants and this is definitely a top contender.

Great Thai spot that ranks among the best in the city. Here's what you need to know: 1. Excellent portion sizes... we split four dishes between four people and it was portioned perfectly 2. Flavorful and spicy... everything here has a great kick. In the best way possible 3. If you want to go salad, try something new and get the avocado mango salad. 4. Pad Thai is top 5 in the city easily 5. Good service and lowkey ambiance.

Came here for dinner to meet up with a friend visiting from Cali. Overall a wonderful time. Service is friendly and attentive. To start, I had the Spiked Thai Iced Milk Tea ($14) which they added coconut rum to Thai iced milk tea to make it an alcoholic drink. My friend and the Watermelon Mojito ($14) which is decent as well. To start, we ordered the Shrimp Donuts ($13), which is a must order. Also quite unique as I have not seen this offered at any other Thai restaurants. We also ordered the Grilled Chicken Satay ($10) which comes with a peanut sauce. A pretty standard dish. For entrees, we shared the Kai Tod Had Yai ($35). Per menu description, "most popular Thai southern style fried chicken", served with butterfly pea jasmine rice, massaman curry dip and roti flatbread. I like the variety that comes with this dish. We also ordered the Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns ($33) which is grilled shrimp with sautéed tom yum noodles. This is a very IG dish. We ended the night with Fried Banana w Honey ($8). If I wasn't soo stuffed, I would have enjoyed these more. Not too sweet.

I have to preface this review by saying that before Rua Thai, I was scared to venture outside of my local tried and true Thai place (Amy Thai Bistro) which has been my take-out place for the past 5 years, ordering from it at least once a month, and whose food I think is actually better than restaurants I had in Thailand proper. Rua Thai has made me a changed man and has persuaded me that good Thai in Brooklyn lies elsewhere and it doesn't have to be expensive or booji. We made a reservation for a Saturday afternoon which wasn't really needed due to the hurricane weather outside. The front part has doors that open up completely to the street, which is nice for getting air and people watching. The inside is well decorated with nice chiq touches of Thai culture, as usual. Upon the suggestion of the waitress, we got the Lab Chicken Wings, Beef Pad Kee Mau (Drunken Noodle), and Plad Tod Numpla (fried Branzino) which came with a side of rice and mango salad. The chicken wings were really juicy and tender, coming in a set of 5 with a nice tangy dipping sauce. The noodle and fish dish came out quickly after. The noodles were piping hot and had a good kick to it, with really good "wok hei" (wok breath) marked by the nice char on the flat noodles. The beef was also still tender and not overcooked, which is what usually happens. We were a little apprehensive about the fish, but our fears were alleviated because it was so so good and flavourful. The mango salad was unexpected but actually one of our favourite parts of the meal, with the sauce being so interesting and complex, but might be too fishy for most Westerners. All in all, I have a new favourite and I'm sad that I have to come all the way to Cobble Hill to have it.

Sorry for the lateness in reviewing this. Hubby and I found this place unexpectedly after visiting a Japanese market nearby. The street is heavily occupied by tons of restaurants serving different cuisines. This place is beautifully decorated like an indoor garden. Mint was our server and she's Thai! We ordered, of course, Pad Prik Khing. We're pad prik khing eaters. We also ordered Roti Canai, Tum Yum soup and Colossal Crab fried rice. OK, Pad Prik Khing was excellent. Roti Canai was too. Tom Yum was delicious! Crab fried rice was less flavorful. I don't mind returning and trying other dishes like noodles and green curry to see whether they have the spices I want. Yeah, I live in New York and am struggling to find the right spice LOL. Great experience!

Rua Thai is GOOD! But in addition to the food, being good, I'm super grateful for the service and the fact that they actually were quite ethical and fair when I raised a concern. I brought my niece and daughter here for lunch, very randomly. My kid got the colossal crab fried rice, my niece got the chicken fried rice, and I ordered the garlic pepper chicken. We also had Thai tea and spring rolls. Spring rolls: I make my own dipping sauce, which is a little more savory. But, the rolls themselves, were a little sweet without any sauce at all. I didn't love that, but they were still good and fried well. Colossal crab fried rice: $35 but it was a good portion size and tasted really good. Chicken fried rice: standard, but really good. Great flavor. Garlic pepper chicken: very good. I could've lapped up the sauce. Thai tea: perfect. Not too sweet and the perfect amount of milk. Overall, I would return and definitely recommend to others. The decor site is so freaking cute, and the service was pretty good. Back to my comment earlier about them being ethical. So, after lunch that day, we asked for boxes for our food. The restaurant is the type to box up your leftovers for you. So, they did that. However, when we got home, I noticed that the colossal crab fried rice, which my daughter ate less than a fourth of, was packaged in a very small plastic container that was less than a fourth full. Additionally, there were two extra spring rolls in our bag. It was almost as if someone dropped some of the rice or spilled it, and threw the rolls in as a concession. However, nobody said anything. So, I called the next day and there was no answer. I called a couple days later, and someone answered. As I was explaining the situation, recognizing that this was a very small business, I didn't expect them to do anything or even call me back. However, the woman I spoke to said that she was going to do some research and call me back. Sure, enough, about 15 minutes later, she called me and said that she thinks there was an order mixup. And because of that, they'd be happy to remake the rice for me. I was elated. I told her I'd come pick up the next day. The next day, I called and placed the order over the phone, and 20 minutes later, we had another serving of crab fried rice. This one was just as delicious as the last. I have to give kudos where they are due. I've been to restaurants and other businesses before who do things like this and won't make it right. I appreciate them doing this and fixing it. I would definitely recommend.

We came here on a Friday and got seated quickly. We ordered drinks to start. We got the butterfly pea soda and the UmPaWa mojito. Both drinks were really good. I really like the mojito which tasted super coconuty and creamy. For mains, we ordered the mama tom yum grilled river prawn and penang curry. The mama tom yum noodles were super flavorful. The river prawn was pretty big and was very tasty. The curry was also pretty good. The flavors were just right and full of spice. Overall, a great thai spot with amazing drinks and good food.

I thought about this review a lot and decided I had to give it what it deserved. The 2 stars are for the ambience and the some really nice staff. The server made us drinks pictured on their page, after seeing our fascination looking through the offerings. The rest of the experience left much to be desired. The pictures of the food here are absolutely gorgeous. I don't know how long they were taken, but my expectations were very high. Drinks were beautiful and the appetizers look really amazing. This was not the case. The Roti canai was watery and taste like spiced, coconut milk. I ordered canai, not chai. The flavors of the curry.... completely non-existent. Oh and what was in this separating sauce, might you ask? Four pieces of undercooked, unseasoned, sour potatoes. Roti.... gummy with a deceptive crisp on the outside. I set it aside and tasted my drink, it too was watery, lacking the distinctive flavor of Thai tea, only giving faint hints of milk and cheap alcohol. By this time, I was really sad and hungry. The garlic sauce shrimp arrived.... dry, with pieces of sautéed garlic sprinkled garnish. Once again, zero flavor. This wasn't even the most.... when I requested soy sauce, I was asked why. Whet????? I replied "the dish has no sauce or seasoning." The most was the indignant response, "this isn't a thick sauce. You never..." I cut him off and stated that's fine, thank you for the sauce. Sir. I love REAL Thai food. My apologies for looking at the photos and comparing it to some of the restaurants in the area, thinking this would be even better. I will stick to the spaces where my Folks approve of. Oh... and I was charged an additional $2 for the shrimp in my dish of unseasoned veggies and overcooked white rice. The utter shock and disappointment of my bestie over her favorite dish, massaman curry? I felt horrible for the rec to come here. Never again.

Inspired by the concept of floating market, Rua Thai instantly transports us to Thailand. The interior isn't overly decorated. It's cozy to sit by the window to enjoy their authentic street market food and sunshine on a warm day. ＊Fried Calamari*** The fried calamari really shines on its own! Tender calamari coated with golden crispy layer and bits of salted egg yolk. The seafood mayo dip was too delicious that we had to ask for more. Finger-licking good. ＊Shrimp Donuts* These donut-shaped shrimp cakes were generously stuffed with shrimp paste. The shrimp filling was bouncy and well seasoned. Heavenly with the sweet chili sauce. ＊Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns The signature sautéed tom yum noodles served in a Mama cup. 100% insta-worthy presentation. It had pieces of stir-fried prawns and a grilled prawn. The latter was overcooked. The noodle texture was indeed very good, yet I expected more seafood flavors from the seasoning. A pricey entree for what it was. ＊Colossal Crab Fried Rice w. Crab Rangoon Very fancy to serve the fried rice in a coconut shell with overflowing amount of crab meat. The fried rice tasted quite bland on its own, though the seafood mayo on the side gave much depth in flavors and spiced up the dish. It came with two pieces of crab rangoon. Highly recommend getting the rangoon for app. The crabmeat cream cheese filling surprised me. ＊Coconut Custard* This custard pudding is a less heavy variation of sticky rice. Stretchy and thick texture. Served hot. A not-too-sweet option to finish off the meal. ＊Elderflower Paradise (cocktail), Butterfly Pea Lychee Soda, Color Changing Lemonade Drinks are pretty and not too sweet. The elderflower paradise is their new cocktail with strawberry juice and cucumber. Very refreshing in summer. Their drinks are good but not very impressive.

I'm a sucker for colorful dishes (and ofc mango sticky rice) so Rua Thai in cobble hill fit the bill! I also really liked sitting by the open air windows to people watch! the service was quick when we came on a weekend afternoon. what we ordered: Shrimp donuts $13 Curry puff $10 Duck yaowarat $34 Colossal crab fried rice $28 Spiked thai iced tea $14 Color changing lemonade $8 Mango coconut sticky rice $15 Thai iced tea - dangerous cause don't taste alcohol much lol more creamy taste but still taste the Thai tea the duck was on a bed of greens which I appreciate!! Lots of crab and served in a coconut, but fried rice flavors were a bit more muted. Lemonade is refreshing! You get a shot of lemon juice to pour in. Sweet but not syrupy. Good Balance of acidity and sweetness I thought the shrimp donuts were unique! Crispy outside and strong shrimp flavor inside. I love the flakiness and strong curry flavor in the curry puffs. Overall, the food wasn't bad but not much stood out to me.

I had such a fabulous experience at RUA Thai. I went on a Sunday afternoon with my daughter and we were spoiled with a lot of space to navigate around the restaurant. It's definitely spacious and allows you to bring your stroller in. I was immediately welcomed and seated. The drink options are spectacular from mocktails to cocktails to beer. My daughter had the strawberry guava fizz mocktail and I had the Lychee By The Sea. Both amazing choices and refreshing to have on the hot and humid day that we went. For apps, we got the shrimp donuts and roti canai. I loved both! The shrimp donuts are packed with shrimp and have a hint of sweetness. My daughter has never eaten shrimp but she did eat that donut up! The roti canai was amazing... I wish I had 2 rotis to finish my curry. I loved how creamy and flavorful the curry was!!! There was potatoes in it too. For entrees, we got the Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawns and the Duck Yaowarat. The noodles with the prawns.... Plated so beautifully. Delicious. The Duck... oh man... it says that this is a family recipe on the menu and I can tell. I haven't had anything like it. It was absolutely divine. I loved dipping it into the gravy too. The butterfly pea rice wasn't really much different from regular rice... or at least I couldn't tell the difference. But it was great to have with the duck! My daughter ate none of it since she was hype off her soda and full off her donut (somehow). For dessert, we got the mango sticky rice. The mango rose made it so beautiful. It was exactly what you expected it to be and I loved it. Definitely coming back here!!!! I loved it so much. :)

I was craving thai food for a bit and so my husband and I decided to come here for a lowkey anniversary dinner. Based on the reviews, we were expecting the food to be super good but I think everything was just okay or lackluster. We started with their appetizer sample where we got to sample their wings, skewer, dumplings and I think this was the best thing we had the entire night. We ordered our usual pad see ew, crab fried rice and a mango chicken. The crab fried rice was super oily and we thought the crab was non-existent which makes the price point for what seemed to be just egg fried rice. Next the pad see ew was the driest plate of noodles we had. The beef was dry and the sauce seemed also close to none. The mango chicken was decent but the rice that came with it was also just dry. Was nice to try this spot but we didnt love it.

I also gave the drunken noodles a shot since they're known to be one of the spicier dishes. They definitely have a nice kick, which I really enjoyed since I can handle the heat!

Beautiful presentation here but I wish the quality was better. Maybe my seafood orders were simply old that day, but the grilled prawn/crab just tasted fishy/rubbery nonetheless. I had to remove them in order to enjoy the rest of my meal. Great variety of menu items though. I did enjoy playful drink options like Spiked Thai Iced Milk Tea and Tom Ka Za, a Tom-Ka soul inspired cocktail. I wouldn't rush to recommend this location when other delicious Thai places exist in the same neighborhood though.

Had dinner at Rua Thai in Brooklyn, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The cozy vibe made it feel super inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening. The prawn noodles were absolutely delicious--so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The duck crepe was another standout, rich and packed with flavor. The larp fries were incredible. I loved the seasoning on it. The branzino was delicious. We love fried fish. The thai iced tea was super tasty as well. I do wish they had mango sticky rice, though--it would've been the perfect way to wrap up the meal. Service was fine, but it seemed like just one person was handling everything. Despite that, I'd definitely go back for the great food and ambiance!

Been ordering lunch from Rua Thai a few times a month this year and along with Goog it has become a go-to Thai spot. We havent had much luck with Thai spots that deliver into Red Hook as a few of our faves have gone by the wayside over the years. Rua is a solid spot. The lunch specials are great in taste,price and portion sizes as you get many choices of entree plus you get an app choice as well. I usually go with the Pork Pad See Yu, the broad noodles with plenty of well seasoned pork and chinese brocolli in the sweet soy sauce but i have had the chicken basil and ginger sauces as well and they are also quite good. Apps I stick with the dumplings which are a mix of pork and shrimp with that addictive sauce. My boss is hooked on the pork jerky. The delivery is always fast and the food is always hot and fresh.

This Thai restaurant is classy and has intimate vibes with Instagram-worthy, delicious food. The shrimp donuts with sweet chili sauce and perfectly fried calamari were standouts. Loved the noodles' presentation and its slightly spicy kick and the Massaman Beef Curry was hearty and flavorful. Drinks were tasty, but we wished for a stronger kick. The strongest cocktail was the Smoked on Smith (similar to an Old Fashioned).Friendly and patient service. There are a lot of Thai dishes that are more than your typical Thai price ranges.

I came here for my birthday and had such an amazing time! The venue is gorgeous, very aesthetically pleasing! I heard the shrimp donuts and duck crepes were out of this world so I had to check it out and it most certainly lived up to it's name! The food and service is excellent the vibe is luxurious and the drinks are so delicious! Will definitely come back!

Went at noon on a Sunday and the place wasn't packed - only a few tables taken. Service was very attentive and speedy. We ordered the Calamari, which was a bit tough, but paired nicely with the salted yolk crumble and dipping sauce, and Duck Crepes, which were just warm when it came to us - it was still also pretty good nonetheless. For entrees, we got the popular Mama Tom Yum Grilled River Prawn Noodles and Kai Tod Had Yai Fried Chicken entree, which were both the STARS of the meal! The fried chicken was boneless, crispy, and juicy, and the prawns were very flavorful in the sweet + sour Tom Yum noodles. Lastly, we closed our meal with their Coconut Pudding, which was oddly a bit salty on the top, but with the sweet dessert altogether, it wasn't bad. Overall, would give this meal a solid 7/10!

Rua is a very beautiful restaurant. Full of flowers and a boat as well. We got a few items on the day but I think the food is definitely spiced for the American palette. Not quite spicy enough unfortunately even though we asked for the food to be Thai spicy. The staff is super nice and helpful.

Spent the afternoon at this delicious Thai spot in Brooklyn. This restaurant is inspired by the floating markets of Ratchaburi, Thailand. Highlights of my meal was the "Crying Tiger" and the "Appetizer Sampler". If you enjoy dessert, definitly go for the "Mango Sticky Rice! If you're a fan of beef and seasoning, you cannot go wrong with the "Crying Tiger", I wish I had a second stomach because it was so good! I also liked trying the Appetizer sampler because they give you a bit of everything. Our waiter was the only working but he expertly took everyone's orders and got the food out in a timely manner. He also made the drinks and I loved the coconut mojito + color changing lemonade! The ambiance was very charming and I loved all of the decorations. There was plenty of seating and the bathroom was clean.

Decor is SO CUTE -- cute date spot! Curry dumplings were good! The salad came with a curry-like sauce which was a first for me; it was great! Chicken Pad Thai was good! Three of us went for a Sunday dinner -- The restaurant wasn't full (maybe a bit dark) and we wanted to try a new Thai spot in the 'hood. The Mee Ko Rad with shrimp was okay -- maybe a bit bland, but not bad. The Crying Tiger was presented very nicely and my son said it was quite filling. The servers were attentive though not overly obtrusive and kept our waters filled.

Overall, good food for the price and decent atmosphere, but service could be better. I walked in Saturday evening and waited about 10 mins for a table. Reserving ahead here is probably a good idea. Massaman curry (comes with rice) - this was too far on the watery side. Otherwise good flavor, and a good portion size. Drunken noodle - really enjoyed this. We were able to adjust the spice down a little, and preferred this over the curry. Rice soup - my friend's order, personally not a fan of rice porridge so I didn't try. She liked it, but there was an abundance of ginger that she had to pick out. They could have fit quite a few more tables in the room but I appreciate that they didn't, because it was calmer and more comfortable this way. Service was friendly but inattentive. We struggled to flag them down and it took a long time to get the bill and to eventually pay. I think they got distracted by the larger groups that came in, and on top of that were understaffed. With everything in mind I'd still recommend this place for some affordable, good Thai.

RUA Thai in Cobble Hill is a total vibe! The cozy space with floral accents and traditional Thai touches feels super welcoming. The service was efficient and friendly. We started with the Spring Rolls, which were perfectly crispy and packed with veggies and taro--so good we were fighting over the last one! The Grilled Chicken Satay was tender and amazing, especially with that peanut sauce. For drinks, my friend got the Watermelon Mojito, which was fresh, sweet, and so "baby girl" with its mix of rum, mint, and watermelon. I had the Call Me Green, a pretty little thing with pineapple juice, vodka, and a dash of blue raspberry syrup that was delicioussss and had us laughing through the night. For mains,I went with the Royal Pineapple Fried Rice, loaded with soft-shell crab, shrimp, and cashews, all served in a pineapple. Every bite was a happy dance moment. My friend had the Crying Thaiger steak, which was smoky, juicy, and perfectly charred--so good there were no leftovers. We finished with Mango Coconut Sticky Rice, which hit just right. Oh, and shoutout to the lollipop from the drink--it's the little things!
