Ruby Q Smoke Fusion Review - Fruitvale - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Ruby Q Smoke Fusion is located in Oakland’s Fruitvale next to The Aloha Club and La Grana Fish (a top spot for birria tacos). Like the name suggests, they specialize in smoked meats by the pound, which are, for lack of a better phrase, absolute fire. You can get chicken, brisket, or tender spare ribs doused in sweet, tangy barbecue sauce, and sides like potato salad, mac and cheese, baked beans, and smoked collard greens. And if you want to make things a little more interesting, get their smoked meats loaded on top of nachos, quesadillas, or street tacos." - Lani Conway

Where to Eat and Drink in Oakland’s Fruitvale Neighborhood | Eater SF

"Located in the Aloha Club-adjacent spot formerly occupied by La Guerrera’s, Ruby Q is all about smoked meats served in an array of formats, including several that give the barbecue a bit of a Mexican slant. Here, in addition to getting your pork ribs or brisket sliced up and served by the pound, you can also enjoy it on nachos, tacos, or quesadillas. The whole smoked chickens are a thing of beauty, and Aloha Club’s spacious outdoor patio is available for diners who are comfortable sitting down to enjoy a cocktail with their meal." - Luke Tsai

I am not one to rag on places for doing mediocre BBQ. I typically just make it at home and don't order elsewhere. That said, we decided to get a few dinners tonight. I've never seen ribs and brisket cooked line they were boiled and then covered in sauce? The sauce wasn't the worst but everything was fall off the bone most with zero texture. Bring your grams who doesn't have teeth? The hot link was great. Not sure what their putting in the coleslaw but it tasted like cancer. I didn't even bring it home for my chickens (I eat the eggs) Really was hoping for something good. Love club tac and Crockett! Not a hater just had a terrible meal.

Worst food ever!!!! Ribs tasted boiled and flavorless. They try and make up for it by adding a bottle of bbq sauce on top. Disgusting!

Wow. The ribs are absolutely delicious. Perfectly smoked with a BBQ sauce that pairs well and isn't too sweet. We got a bunch of sides and the favorite was the potato salad which has a nice creamy tang that pair perfectly with the sauce. The beans was a miss, tasted too much like molasses and the mac was not as good as the potato salad but added some variety. The owner is also very nice. We tried to order delivery on the 4th of July and he ran out of ribs. He called and told us he didn't have what we wanted and was willing to send us way more brisket for the same price. We didn't take him up on that and ordered another day but we appreciated the gesture.

TEMPORARILY CLOSED Go for the potato salad, grab some ribs with no sauce. Don't bother with the "peach-less" cobbler it was more cake than cobbler with rare sighting of peaches. I have limited resources throwing food away equals an empty belly. The links were burnt and thats no bark. This joint might be just a side piece when on dat side of town.

I recommend this business. The service was excellent. The ribs were tender, the meat fell off of the bones and I liked the barbecue sauce. The potato salad was good, it tasted homemade. The baked bean were okay. The peach cobbler was good but it was a bit overcooked. The portions were a good size and the price are fair. I will go back again.

I got the ribs and brisket. The ribs were tender and brisket had a good chew. 5 stars. meat itself had a nice smoky flavor. Both BBQ sauces were very good. The side dishes are the best BBQ restaurantI've ever had. The bake bean and potato salad must try. I will definitely be back to try other meats and side dishes!

Ruby Q Smoke Fusion is FANTASTIC! I ordered from their catering menu for a last minute event. All I can say is the food, the service, and the price was great. Thank you Ruby Q for making my event spectacular. Guests loved everything and continued to ask where they could get more. From the ribs, chicken, links, brisket, mac n cheese, beans...did I mention the brisket. The Brisket was my favorite as you can see. Banana pudding and peach cobbler was yummy. Everything was delicious. Best BBQ in the Town!

A Fruitvale Secret. This place is really incredible. Tiny, attached to a bar. huge portions but the best is the quality and price. It is so easy to get terrible quality BBQ in Oakland. Everything on the menu is top notch and you CAN NOT BEAT THE PRICE. For BBQ it is so reasonable. Don't sleep on the banana pudding, just get it.
