I am no stranger to the Ruby Slipper, but it was my first time at this location. We went on a Sunday with no reservations and were lucky to get a table in 10 minutes. I enjoyed the Spanish Omelette with chicken sausage and it was exciting breakfast perfection. My partner loved the Hot-Smoked Salmon Omelette which was a unique and pleasing combo. I also loved their vanilla ice coffee here that helped start my engines to face the Nola heat.

We loved Ruby Slipper so much we went back for a second day in a row during our recent trip to New Orleans. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with the sweet heat fried chicken and the chicken was excellent! Juicy and flavorful! The biscuits are good as well. No one was really upset with anything they ordered!

This spot was highly recommended to us, being first time NOLA visitors. Unfortunately, I was pretty underwhelmed. As far as the atmosphere goes, it was a typical brunch spot with some cute colors thrown about. The service we received from our server, I will say, was very good. She was very kind, friendly, sweet, & welcoming. The food I’m giving 3 stars. My husband absolutely loved his spicy honey chicken breakfast biscuit—he said it was amazing. My food, however, was disappointing. The French toast bites seemed like they were cooked too long—some of them were very hard and crunchy. The fried chicken was… chicken. The spicey honey sauce was good but nothing special. (Please excuse the Paw Patrol pups in the photo… we included them in the pic for our kids). I was bummed since this place was so highly recommended. If we ever go again, I will definitely be trying the bananas foster French toast, which I kind of wish I had tried instead.

Stopped by twice during our weekend trip to New Orleans and it was absolutely amazing. I have not been able to stop thinking about the food, especially the biscuits!!! Not only was the food great, the service was excellent. Chris and Nandi were very attentive and friendly. We cant wait to go back again.

Google
The place was crowded but we were still comfortable, didn’t feel “squeezed in”. Started with the mimosa flights which were very reasonable priced for the large amount that you’re given. Personally, it didn’t taste fresh, was more gimmicky and less about appearance or taste. Breakfast was decent, nothing amazingly fantastic but not bad. The special butter with the biscuits was really good! And the grits had a nice texture too! For the prices, and location, it’s someplace I would recommend but not something I’d go out of my way to go back to. Our server was fantastic though, very friendly and sweet. It was her first day and she did great, got everything right.

Google
We had the most amazing food and service at the Ruby Slipper! The Trifecta was awesome! The White Chocolate pancakes were scrumptious and still dreaming about the sweet heat chicken and French toast! Paired with Mimosas and friends that like to share made a perfect brunch! Our bartender/server was on point and all smiles. Can't wait to go back!

If you really want to have a taste of the true New Orleans experience? Must stop by the Ruby Slipper/Sunshine! Amazing the food was beyond delicious, atmosphere is just terrific and the service is so welcoming and warm. LOVED Kelli and Melissa at the bar. Gave me the best fried green tomatoes BLT! The Irish coffee with true espresso!

Google
I was terribly disappointed in this location of Ruby Slipper. The atmosphere is nice, colorful and fun. The seating person was also very friendly but my server appeared to be overwhelmed, not at all outgoing or attentive. The food was the biggest disappointment. The chicken biscuit was dried out and tasteless. The potatoes came ten minutes later and were grossly undercooked and hard. I paid and left, not able to eat either. In fairness I have eaten at other locations and have been very pleased.

Yelp
Food was pretty good here. My fiancé had the catfish and grits and he loved everything about it. I had the shrimp and grits which was also good. Only recommendation is if you are going there make reservation and be prepared for long wait times and it's a small place so 40min wait time will really be 60-80 minutes.

Yelp
Great food! Short wait but they got us in quick. Eva was our server and she was amazing!

Yelp
While visiting the Big Easy during Mardi Gras, I was in the mood for brunch. After visiting the Ruby Slipper a couple of times, knew it was time to go back. The Decatur location was closest to me & glad I went. There was a line & I was greeted at the host stand by Stanley. Stanley gladly took my name but I asked if there happen to be a spot at the bar for just one. He turned around & told me to wait a couple of minutes as he cleared me a spot. Sat me down quick with a smile. Was immediately acknowledged by one of the bartenders saying they would be right with me. Kelli & Jaylynn were working that day. Started my day with an Irish coffee & it truly hit the spot. It did take a moment for me to decide, but didn't feel rushed. Yes, Kelli & Jaylynn checked on me, but only to see if I was ready & encouraged me to take my time. After a couple of moment, I chose the southern breakfast. It was the fried green tomato that sold me. Yes, it was simple, but extremely satisfying. And, that fried green tomato, was better than expected. If you are in NOLA, make sure to visit @brunchwithruby.

Yelp
Love that they have yelp waitlist. This is a great option as they do have a wait. Hostess was very kind and helpful. We were quickly seated after checking in. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the food quality was not worth it. I have been to another Ruby Slippers location and found the food to be great. Perhaps it's this location, or the combination of the timing being the weekend following superbowl and preparation for Mardi Gras. Coffee was great no complaints. Eggs Cochon Benedict came out with the eggs overcooked and no yolk to be found. Waiter was kind to bring out some fresh ones, but unfortunately when I cut into the pork and biscuit both were cold. He took it back and came out with a new plate. Unfortunately it wasn't better so I ate the eggs and biscuit. At another location it was served hot and the yolks ran all over the pork and biscuit. Sadly this location was either having an off day or just overwhelmed with the amount of people. My fiancés shrimp and grits was better than the Cochon dish, but nothing to give rave reviews about. While their customer service and ease of being out on the waitlist was great, we won't be back.

Yelp
Ruby Slipper is a cute and cozy brunch spot with a Creole fusion twist, and overall, it was a great experience! I started with a creamy vanilla latte topped with nutmeg and whipped cream, which was delicious--just a bit sweeter than I usually prefer, but still really well made. For my main dish, I had the French toast with fried chicken, strawberries, and maple syrup. The flavors worked beautifully together, but it was definitely a heavy dish, and I wish there had been something like whipped cream or a light topping to balance it out. We also tried the catfish with grits, which was another solid choice. Overall, Ruby Slipper is a great spot for brunch, but just know that the dishes lean toward the rich and indulgent side. If you're in the mood for a hearty, flavorful meal, this is definitely the place to check out!

Yelp
The service is always phenomenal! My husband and I love coming here. We brought our 1 year old for his first Mardi Gras. No matter what we order the food is always delicious. The Bennies and pancakes are amazing. And don't forget one of their great mimosas.

Yelp
It came highly recommended and maybe that was the issue-couldn't live up to the hype. Norman was an outstanding server and the coffee was decent.

Yelp
Had a great experience brunching at Ruby Slipper! Sol was our server and he was a ray of sunshine (just like his name implies). He had a great attitude and was very kind and helpful. I enjoyed my tomato Benedict and thought the biscuits were perfect. The ambiance is really cool. I would definitely come back next time I visit NOLA.

Yelp
Ruby Slipper Café - 204 Decatur St. Our last day in New Orleans, and we couldn't think of a better place to enjoy breakfast. Funny enough, on our first day, we visited the Ruby Slipper location on 200 Magazine St., just a few blocks away, not realizing there was one right across from our hotel! This location is smaller in space compared to the Magazine St. spot, but the food was just as delicious. What We Tried: * French Toast Bites: We couldn't resist ordering these again. They were just as amazing as the first time--crispy, sweet, and a perfect start to the meal. * Three Little Pigs Omelet: Both of us ordered this hearty omelet filled with applewood-smoked bacon, ham, sausage, and Swiss cheese. It's served with grits and a buttermilk biscuit. * I had mine as it comes, and it was absolutely delicious! * My husband substituted the grits for breakfast potatoes, which were a great choice and paired perfectly with the omelet. Atmosphere: This location is smaller and cozier, with a welcoming vibe. Despite the limited space, the service was efficient, and the food came out quickly. Overall Thoughts: Ruby Slipper Café continues to impress with its consistently delicious food and friendly service. Whether it's your first stop or your last in New Orleans, this spot is always a great choice for breakfast or brunch. If you're staying near Decatur St., this location is super convenient and worth a visit!

Yelp
We always visit the Slipper on Magazine St but on this occasion, we had breakfast at this locale. This is southern cuisine at its finest whether you are there for breakfast or their awesome brunch. Biscuits and gravy are a must order. Don't fancy gravy order the biscuit and you will be comparing their off the chart flaky biscuits to all others and be disappointed that you are not at the Slipper. On this visit I ordered their Spanish omelet, and it was just stuffed with chorizo and veggies. I made sure to include a biscuit. This breakfast stayed with me throughout the day. I did notice that an adjoining diner ordered their Costa Rican breakfast. Warning: It was huge, and you could easily split this dish. Service on this visit was Meh. The waiter at the next table was outgoing and even offered to go drinks to his table. Ours appeared to be doing us a favor by taking our order and bringing us a 2nd coffee. This is out of the Norm as we always have great friendly service. Pro tip: Their adult drinks are heavy pours so enjoy!

Yelp
I heard so much about this place. Got some mixed reviews but definitely wanted to try it out for myself. I was quickly seated and a server came to hand me the menu and take my order. I ordered a few things just to try it out. I ordered the avocado toast. I felt like the avocado should've been a lot more in quantity than it was. I also ordered the mimosa flight. It was way too sweet for my liking. The beignets were nice, but I felt they were still moist. I'm glad I got to experience the place, but this won't be on my list of places to go when heading back to New Orleans.

Yelp
Best breakfast spot in New Orleans! French Toast, pancakes, biscuits & gravy or omelette to order...everything prepared to perfection! Staff gets you in & out with a smile! Always a wait, so get your name in online!

Yelp
Great service. Tasty food. Ample seating. I tried the cranberry juice. I had the banana foster French toast which was really great. Also with a side of bacon. Additionally had a French truck latte, I think, which was really great and flavorful. Overall very tasty food and nice service.

Yelp
I had to visit Ruby Slipper after learning their story! I suggest reading about how they got started before heading over because it will make your visit extra special! After putting our name on the list, we waited about 30 minutes for a table. The hostess came outside to tell us our table was ready, then he ushered us inside to the magic! We had Jaelyn as our waitress and she was the BEST! I highly recommend asking for her as your server because you will not be disappointed! The shrimp and grits here get 5 out of 5 stars! The biscuit w/ the sweet butter was the perfect match for the flavorful dish. The fried green tomatoes were just okay. I probably should've asked for them without the toppings since it was a lot. My daughter had the French toast bites and loaded tater tots and she devoured it all! The restaurant is a decent size with a nice size bar area. It's loud in there but that's not a bad thing! Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and having a good time! You get more than what you pay for at Ruby Slipper! I suggest giving one of their locations a try if you're in the area!!

Yelp
I got the fried chicken & French toast bites. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and hot. It was drizzled with hot honey which complemented the chicken very well. The French toast bites are deep fried which makes it very crispy. However, the entire meal ended up feeling very greasy and heavy. Cute little restaurant for brunch. Our waiter was incredibly nice. We found hair in our food & she worked to make sure we were taken care of and content.

Yelp
Horrible place. Very bad service, they don't care about customers at all, even those that make reservations the day before. They couldn't be bothered to even put on a pretend happy face. I will never go back to this establishment and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either.
google avatar

Wendilyn I.

Yelp
Join the waitlist before you go because this place a little small but very popular. And for good reason! The food is very reasonably priced and everything we got was tasteful and richly flavored, as you'd expect in NOLA. The Trifecta was a standout for me because it let me try three of their eggs Benedict in one combination. I also loved the sweetness of the berry chantilly pancakes. The mimosa flight was a very fun way to start the day. I will definitely come back for brunch!
google avatar

Terra S.

Yelp
I know this is a tourist place but we went when we couldn't decide where else to go and it had great constant service actually and tasty food. We had a breakfast sandwich, eggs Benedict, and bananas fosters pancakes which were all delicious! Place looks like a typical diner but food and service was great when we went.
google avatar

Hunter M.

Yelp
Now I know why everyone tells you that you MUST go to Ruby Slipper when visiting NOLA! The wait was long but worth it. We had a wonderful server named Judit who had great energy and was super helpful. The Bloody Mary was great. We had the bacon bits and fried green tomatoes to start, both were wonderful. For our main entrees we enjoyed the Trifecta, Shrimp and Grits, and the Sweet Heat Chicken & French Toast (syrup on the side). All of it was amazing. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Went to the one on magazine street and they did not have bananas for the foster French toast so we came to this location and they have it ! It's a very nice casual restaurant with a nice deco and quick service. Ordered the banana foster French toast. Ordered without bacon and it came with bacon. They took it back to remove the bacon. As we were eating it, found a small piece of bacon under the toast. The bread is a little soaked with the syrup on the plate so not great. The banana is a little crunchy so great texture. Love the fact there is raisins on it. Overall rate this as a 3.

Liz C.

Yelp
An absolute not-to-miss experience. We went twice and had the same exact meal because it was so delicious. My daughter and I keep kosher so it was a bit tricky to find places to eat in New Orleans, so we were so thrilled that we were in walking distance from this treasure. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes (granted we went off hours during a week day). You can't miss the french toast bites, the salmon avocado toast or the "one tomato, two tomato" - a Benedict with fried green tomatoes. The staff were friendly, but a bit rushed. The decor was cute.
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
Ruby Slipper is always a good choice and never disappoints. The Bennie's are my go to choices. This time I tried the tomato Bennie's which has red tomato's and fried green tomato's. The fried green tomatoes are very crispy. Eggs are always cooked to perfection. This place started my love of Bennie's so I always recommend this route. It is always busy so expect to wait but it is sooo worth it. We added ourselves to the waitlist beforehand but still ended up waiting about 30 minutes outside the restaurant around 9 am. We were sat at the bar so the bar is on the waitlist as well.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're going to a brunch spot in NOLA this is THE SPOT to go. Been here multiple times and it always hits. Always spot at the bar and a homey feeling. Coffee - dark and strong Drinks - flavor, balance, and enough alcohol to get you there Food - outrageous Staff - make you feel at home Don't think just go.

Yelp
Ruby Slipper was my #1 fave breakfast in our trip to NoLa. I don't even like biscuits. These were the most amazing biscuits ever. I suggest using their waitlist so you don't have to wait so long. We got on the waitlist at our hotel, walked over, and only ended up waiting 10 mins after checking in with the host. We ordrered the french bites as a starter. Although it came after we were about done with our entrées, it worked out perfectly because it was our dessert. These were PHENOMENAL, forgot to snap a pic. Greatest French toast bites ever. My bf ordered the trifecta. He agreed that these were top tier biscuits, although if he went again, he would not order this one since having shrimp in your breakfast is kind of weird. But, he said he loved the fried chicken one. My mom ordered the Migas which she loved, especially as someone who doesn't eat gluten. I ordered the Eggs Blackstone which was AMAZING! These biscuits are ridiculous, in a good way. The hollandaise sauce with the biscuit and poached egg and bacon... omg... elite combo. I think mine was the best out of all 3. The service was great as well.
google avatar

Dinese M.

Yelp
This spot was located across from our hotel on Canal Street so we stopped in for breakfast on the last morning of our trip and the food and service were really good. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and I liked the Mikes Hot Honey on the strawberries.
google avatar

Lydia F.

Yelp
After a long wait, we finally made it in to the Ruby Slipper. It was a bit frustrating because we joined the wait-list on our phone, and the server did not check us in when we came to the podium, so we ended up waiting longer than expected. The restaurant was packed and turning tables quickly. Every table was full and the small restaurant was packed. Our server was a veteran and knew the menu and all the offerings like a pro. I chose the Trifecta Benedict. It came with a fried chicken bennie, pulled pork bennie, and Cajun shrimp bennie. In hindsight, I would recommend just getting the fried chicken bennie because it blew the other two out of the water. Their sweet tea cut half with unsweet was perfect. The checkout experience with the electronic card reader the waitress gave us made it go much faster than usual.

Yelp
I've been to the Ruby Slipper on Magazine street quite a few times and had a wonderful experience. This location was in walking distance to my hotel so I thought I would visit before I left NOLA. I arrived on Monday morning around 8:30. The hostess although not the friendliest seated me right away. My waitress came over about 5 minutes later. She was lovely but I didn't get her name. I usually get the shrimp and grits but opted for the chicken and French toast bites with a side of grits and a cup of coffee. The presentation was beautiful. The food came out warm. The chicken was good. The French toast had a lot of cinnamon and was ok and the grits were mediocre. I personally wouldn't visit this location again but I wouldn't want to discourage people from visiting.

Yelp
Hands down the best breakfast I have ever eaten in New Orleans. We were a party of 4 and all ordered different meals. Every one of us said the same thing kit was the best breakfast we have had in New Orleans. We are tourist traveling but are well rehearsed in the food of the French Quarter as we come often. Service was excellent and the preparation and presentation of the food was over the top. They get you in and out quick. Forgot to add they are the only restaurant we ate in which did not up their prices because it was Mardi Gras
google avatar

april d.

Yelp
Judit was the best server- we had the best meal with kind and considerate attention. Thank you for a great breakfast!
google avatar

Tiffany J.

Yelp
If you are visiting New Orleans this is a must go-to! Their biscuits and fried green tomatoes are some of the best I've ever had. There was a long wait, about 30 minutes to get a table. We did feel a little rushed as our server asked us what we wanted to eat, even though we just sat down and hadn't ordered drinks yet.
google avatar

Jordyn M.

Yelp
Joined using the online wait list so only waited 5 minutes for them to wipe a table down upon our arrival. Ordered the southern BLT and migas (being from Texas a bit different from what I had in mind but still good nonetheless) Also ordered the vanilla iced coffee and the mimosa. It did take over 15+ minutes for either to arrive. Restaurant isn't that large for it to take that long in my opinion. Everything was enjoyable however though very personable, our server seemed a bit unfamiliar with the menu. We asked which mimosas were what flavors and were told he didn't know and then he handed us a menu for us to become the newest contestant on Gordon's Ramsey taste palate test and just sip and guess. Overall, it was good (though I do recommend the BLT, that was pretty fire) I wouldn't likely wait longer than 30 minutes in person though.

Yelp
Great breakfast/ brunch place in NOLA! This is one of many locations, but would felt a lot of locals partake. The portions are large, the service is great, and the ambiance is laid back. The food was good, but really large platters. If you order the pancakes, you really only need one!
google avatar

Dave U.

Yelp
Food: super huge portions. I ordered the sweeter menu items that I thought would be small but to my surprise the meal was over the top generous. The French toast included a large biscuit and fruit. The table ordered some candied bacon to share as well as bite sized French toasts sticks similar to the Burger long sticks that we enjoy on road trips. Staff: very attentive, quick to service and also very patient Ambiance: this is a popular place. We did the online waitlist and that really helped us get our table quickly: it's very loud just because the place is huge: the servers work hard and work like a team.

Yelp
My wife and I came here based on a recommendation from our hotel. We were so happy with the result! It was busy, but we were seated very quickly by kind staff. Everyone we interacted with were very kind and attentive. We got biscuits and gravy with fried chicken, and the sweet heat chicken and french toast. Holy hell, they were amazing! My wife got orange juice (which she said was amazing), and I got a couple of the iced Irish mochas. It was so good, we came back the next day! We got the same server (Judit), and she remembered literally everything we got! She recommended we try something different, and we did. Again, it was amazing. 100/100 recommend!

Yelp
The food was amazing and the wait staff was very knowledgeable. The atmosphere was upbeat and the establishment was clean

Yelp
There's always a wait at the Ruby Slipper, because the food and drinks are worth every minute you wait. We eat here every time we visit NOLA and the menu continues to evolve. Because they get super packed, service can get a little tricky but it's not due to laziness. With so many people to serve, they could use someone who's checking tables for drinks and another bartender or two. There was only 1 there this time.
google avatar

Mariah M.

Yelp
Not gonna lie, I had higher hope this spot. Tiktok gave me the insight for this place, so the girls & I decided to go as our last meal before our return flight. Upon entry, we were given a time frame of about an hour wait, which in reality was maybe half of that time. The staff moved fairly quickly with seating parties and our party of 4 was called soon. The establishment itself is crowded, a little tight on the inside. A lot of "excuse me" getting to our table. When we finally got our food, the food was... sadly average. All the girls at the table said their food was "okay". The catfish needed hot sauce, the grits weren't the best I've had. Just - literally average. Something to satisify the hunger desire. I guess we missed the hype. Because there are so many other brunch/breakfast spots to choose from in the surrounding area, I don't know if I would return unless someone requested us go and I just followed suite.

Yelp
Ruby Slipper is an adorable little restaurant with amazing food, and I definitely recommend stopping if you're visiting New Orleans! It was quite busy when we went (Mardi Gras time), so if you're going during brunch or a busy time like that, I suggest calling ahead or making a reservation online (join the waitlist on their website). The service was great and quick for how busy they were at the time. The atmosphere is fun and bright, with a giant red slipper sculpture on the wall to finish it off. I went with friends and I had the Chicken St. Charles, which is fried chicken over delicious, fluffy buttermilk biscuits, topped with two poached eggs and a creamy pork gravy sauce. It was so filling and tasty - I had to share with my friends to finish it off. We also had some Mardi Gras French toast that was covered in edible glitter sprinkles in Mardi Gras colors. The French toast was delicious with a sweet cream sauce inside. It also came with potatoes and sausage which were expertly cooked. The food, service, and vibe were all A+ in my book!

Yelp
We found this spot thanks to our Lyft driver, and thank god we ended up here. Join the waitlist in the website because it's packed always!! Our server Iamunique so nice, so charming, she was the opening of what would be an amazing weekend in Nola. I tell you, everybody is so nice! Even another server fame and brought our pups some treats thank you! Obviously we started with beignets, because when in Nola you know?? So good! So different, the have like a cheese texture inside i cant describe it but it was good!!! If i describe every plate it would be A M A Z I N G !! The benedicts were on point, the chicken and french toast OMG so crispy, spicy ughhhh i wanna repeat!! The mimosas flight were not my favorite because im just an OG mimosa girl but still try them. This place so amazing, if i have to pick a brunch again it will be for sure here! It has a perfect atmosphere, it can be tight but you still cant hear neighbors talking. Will be back :)

Yelp
Everytime my wife and I come to New Orleans we go to this restaurant. The breakfast food is really good and the drinks are good as well. The service is good as well. All I say is slow down on the drinks because they are pretty strong.
google avatar

Yelp
Ah, the Big Easy--where the drinks flow freely, and time feels like a suggestion. We rolled up to Ruby Slipper with a group of 8, fully expecting a good ol' NOLA brunch experience. What we didn't expect? The wait. I'm talking a wait longer than a Mardi Gras parade with no beads in sight. Once we finally got seated--after some serious side-eye from the host for cramming 8 of us into a booth clearly made for 6--things started looking up. The drinks? Absolute lifesavers. I don't know what kind of voodoo magic they put in those cocktails, but I was feeling real good by the second round. Now, let's talk food. Or should I say...cold food. My eggs were chilly, my biscuit had the warmth of a January morning, and the sausage was practically begging for a microwave. Look, I came here to eat, not to reheat. But despite the food fumble, I can't complain about the atmosphere. The place was buzzing, the staff had that easygoing charm, and it was a solid spot to kick back and drink with the crew. Would I come back? Sure, but next time I'll set my expectations lower--and maybe ask for a heat lamp with my meal.

Yelp
Glad I came to try this wonderful establishment while in town for a couple of days. I came in to try the gf French toast but ended up ordering the Eggs couchon Benedict. I was not disappointed but I would have liked to try both. Anyway, I arrived a little after 9am in a Saturday and sat at the bar. I didn't have to wait. The service was excellent and the coffee superb! I asked my server what their favorite dish was and they recommended the couchon bene so that's what I got! Definitely worth a try when you're in NOLA.

Yelp
Food and services was great, the hostess not so much. She would seat people that had just joined the waiting list as opposed to those that have been in the yelp waitlist. The yelp waitlist list was double the estimated time.

Yelp
Good service at the table. Great food. The bananas foster had excellent syrup and bananas. Coffee was too weak. Very loud and cold draft from the front door in February.

Yelp
No wait on a Wednesday morning around 9am. Nice servers, clean setting. Iced coffee was yummy, food came out quickly. Loved my catfish and grits - the sauce was amazing and food came out hot. Nice quiet location near our hotel.

Yelp
Hostess made us wait until everyone arrived even though restaurant wasn't full. Waitress was a ray of sunshine. Good selection. Wish I would have ordered the biscuits & gravy. They looked amazing!
