Some of the best pastries in the area! Super friendly staff! Ample seating, though it’s a popular spot so lines can be long and tables full o during peak hours!

It's a fantastic place to grab breakfast. The menu is expensive and everything is delicious. The line is out the door but move quickly. The employees are super friendly and the order comes out quickly.

Introduction: Ruby's Bakery in Lodi, California, offers a modern bakery atmosphere with a focus on quality baked goods and excellent customer service. Here’s my detailed review based on my frequent visits. Atmosphere: When you first walk into Ruby's Bakery, you're greeted by a contemporary bakery aesthetic. The front area features tables and chairs for customers to sit and enjoy their treats. The servicing area, where all the baked goods are displayed, is partially enclosed in glass, showcasing the array of delicious offerings. Food Quality: Ruby's Bakery excels in a variety of baked goods. Here are some highlights: Chocolate Chip Cookies: Warmed up, these cookies are gooey and delightful. Macaroons and Jam Bars: The jam bars are particularly noteworthy, with Ruby’s making their own jam from locally sourced ingredients. Lunch Options: I usually opt for the avocado toast, ricotta toast, or the egg platter, all of which are excellent. However, I find the deli sandwiches a bit dry. Sourdough: The sourdough bread can occasionally be hard, but the staff is quick to replace it if needed. Cakes and Seasonal Items: Ruby’s Bakery also offers a range of cakes made in-house, including a delicious seasonal chocolate mousse cake. While it’s disappointing that this cake isn’t always available, the other cakes are consistently fresh and flavorful. Coffee: The coffee at Ruby’s Bakery has mixed reviews from me. I typically order the vanilla latte with oat milk. While the coffee is good both hot and iced, there’s an underlying taste I’m not fond of, which I believe is due to the type of coffee beans they use. Value for Money: Considering the quality and taste of the baked goods, Ruby’s Bakery offers great value for the price. The prices are typical for a bakery, but the exceptional quality makes it worth every penny. Customer Service: Customer service at Ruby's Bakery is top-notch. The staff is incredibly friendly, greeting customers warmly and getting to know regulars by name. They are also very accommodating, ensuring a pleasant experience for everyone, including those with service animals and disabilities. Recommendation: Ruby's Bakery is a must-visit for anyone in Lodi looking for high-quality baked goods and a welcoming atmosphere. Despite a few minor preferences, the overall experience is consistently excellent. Conclusion: Overall, Ruby's Bakery provides a delightful bakery experience with its modern ambiance, exceptional baked goods, and outstanding customer service. It's definitely worth a visit for anyone in the area.

Google
I felt COMPELLED to write a review for Rubys but it’s be a public INJUSTICE not to tell people how.. good.. this place is.. let’s start with the made in house bread! The bread is of the highest artisan craft and then they go and slap in house house made sauce on it, the finest meats and cheese! Don’t they me started on the coffee! They a REAL BARISTAS brewing real coffee on real espresso machines and the end result is pure and utter indulgence perfection

Google
Another great find thanks to my daughter and son in law. Simple but filling breakfast. The sourdough bread is so light and airy with a crust you can crunch for days! Just the way I like it. Employees are quick and efficient, with great attitudes! This will be a go to on every visit.

Google

Google
Really nice local Cafe and Bakery. I've been here twice with my kids and we loved everything we tried. The first time we visited, it was early breakfast so we had the croissant, the ham and cheese croissant, a honey bun, and coffee. The second time, we had "breakfast items" same as we had when we first came. However, this time, we visited around brunch time. After we finished, we noticed lunch type of food coming out. We need to come back ASAP! A guy from the back gifted my 2 daughters a mini sourdough bread. They were speechless and the act/thought made them love this place even more. Definitely coming back soon!

Google
We make a point to always try a new bakery in our travels. Ruby's is near the top of our favorites. We got a loaf of sourdough bread that was absolutely fantastic. We also shared a Scone, the best ever, truly, never had a better one. Hoping travel takes us this direction again. Ruby's is amazing!

Yelp
What an absolute fine! I had a Croque Mosieur (IFKYK) sandwich for lunch, and it was divine! The strawberry cream cake with fresh berries, and cream was she perfection! The staff is very friendly and attentive, and I was amazed at how quickly I got my food despite showing up in the middle of the lunch rush. it's a cute little place with ample seating and off street parking. What more could you ask for?! Run. Don't walk. Everything about Rubys will delight you!! Sorry about the lack of photos - it looked too good and I was hungry!

Yelp
It took me way too long to try Ruby's. A friend of mine came for a visit last year and she stopped for a snack here on the way to my house and now every time she visits she wants to go back! Ruby's is a cute little bakery in the downtown area with lots of sweet and savory options. The first thing I ever got here was a blueberry and vanilla danish and I saved the picture to add to the review because it is simply beautiful. You can tell their treats are crafted with genuine care. When I bit into it, I swear time slowed while the crunch of the sweet crispy flaky pastry reverberated in my ears. I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, but I remember that moment. I regularly pay over $4 for a cheese danish at Starbucks, so at $6 for the beautifully crafted, crispier, fresher, more flavorful option I think their food is a very good value. I hate that I can't bring my dog inside and there is no outdoor seating so I have to have someone hold onto my pup while I go inside and honestly the only reason I'm not there 10 times as much. I'm so glad to have Ruby's here in our community

Yelp
Ruby's is definitely a local favorite! You're greeted every single time you walk in by their amazing staff. The time and dedication they take into preparing their pastry dough is so appreciated especially in the taste! My favorite item was their pan pizza with heirloom tomatoes and corn and with their ranch sauce on the side to dip the crust into was so delish!! The bakery/cafe is not the largest spacing in and of itself and seats do get full very fast but honestly it's perfect for this cozy lol town. A perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat with a bestie or bf in my case. Happy Eatings!!

Yelp
Their pastries and breads are simply beautiful and amazingly delicious! Everyday is busy, especially the weekends. New items come out through the morning but my advice to you is if you see it, claim it before the person behind you does. Everything goes quick! If you haven't been in, it's something to see (and eat)! A little on the pricey side but it's worth treating yourself!!

Yelp
First time I went in was when they had only been open for a few months. When we went in it was close to closing, so there wasn't too much to choose from. We decided to go back after seeing all their yummy looking food on their Social Media accounts. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by the friendly staff with a cheerful "Good Morning." We ordered the egg sandwich, a Vanilla Latte, almond croissant and 2 pastries to go. The egg sandwich itself was very tasty. The brioche was soft and buttery and the cheese was fried. The almond croissant was flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. The Vanilla Latte was a 10/10. It was NOT sweet, which I love and I actually tasted the espresso. Their berry danish was sooo yummy!! 10/10. Cute place to grab a quick bite or to just hang out with a cup of coffee and pastry.

Yelp
Ok so I was done fishing in the California Delta and I was craving something cafe-bakerish. So yelp popped up Ruby's, I got my directions and sped over there. As soon as you walk in the door, you say to yourself now this is the definition of Cafe-Bakerish LOL. Loads of fresh baked pastries on display - people inside are buzzing - smell of coffee in the air - this is the spot even before I tried anything. With so many options I chose the ham and cheese croissant, a blueberry scone (I was hungry) and of course cafe latte. The croissant was amazing - the scone was good and the latte was perfect. Always remember to get the latte for here it tastes so much better than in those to go cups. So do I recommend Ruby's - heck yeah I do, I just wish I was in the area more often because I would be a regular. Please do not hesitate when this place pops up in your Yelp search, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Holy moly what a gem!! Had the Almond Croissant w chocolate, a scone and Quiche. Took a loaf of sourdough home. Fun positive vibe from all staff. Amazing care with all they do from the oven to the table. Back again today for avacado toast. Espresso was amazing.

Yelp
Packed on weekends but the line go fast. Had a brunch and everything was delicious, priced reasonably too.

Yelp
Everything about this place is 5 stars! The cleanliness of the inside, the staff was so friendly, the food was delicious. We ate inside today and while we were eating, multiple people came in and staff knew everyone by name! They have a smaller menu but I think that's how they make everything so delicious. We tried the ham and cheese sandwich, which was cooked perfect, cheese was so melty and the ham was cut just right. Only thing we didn't enjoy on this sandwich was the Dijon mustard, felt like it overpowered the sandwich. We got a box of sweets to go. We tried the crumb cake, sugar bun, and coconut almond macaron. The macaron stole the show, it had a slight crips on the outside with moist coconut goodness on the inside. We will for sure be back here!!

Yelp
There are places in the world that are worth a wait, bakeries in the world worth a long line, windows of pastries, seeet and savory, tastes which tempt a snatch and grab. Ruby's is such a place. Croque monsieur? A must mon fils. Sticky buns? Not icky. Let's also go with a danish and a croissant or two. If it's quiet and lazy, you'll love the space. If busy? Grab a table when you can but be ready for a noisy room with satiated happy conversations. Coffee? Of course, and of the same ilk as the baked goods. You can't go wrong grabbing a cappuccino.

Yelp
Looking for a great espresso or fresh baked pastries? You have to try Rubys!!! But I loved the soup and sandwiches even more!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Ruby's has the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had! Perfectly gooey in the middle and crispy on the outside! Love how they add flakey salt on top, very nice sweet and salty combination! The peach pie was also delicious, not too sweet and the crust was perfectly flakey and crispy! Customer service was exceptional! I was greeted right when I walked in and an employee gave some great recommendations as well! Highly recommend their iced vanilla latte with oat milk! I came later in the day, so the pastry selection wasn't the greatest, but I will definitely be back soon earlier in the morning!

Yelp
Good bye.... Ruby Tuesday!! Sorry, first thing I think of. The next thing I think of are delectable, decadent, delights such almond/chocolate croissants, beautifully decorated cakes and danishes. The CC cookies are always worth getting even if it's to eat later on after dinner with a nice cold glass of milk. They offer tasty breakfast toasts/sands/pastries with eggs and bacon and avocado and other fancy type of breakfasts which may include chorizo and potatoes. I like!! They offer Insight Coffee and their vanilla lattes and mochas are really well made with the right froth and sweetness. It's a fast paced environment but never too busy for a "good morning" or "thanks for coming ," shout out. Plenty of parking in front or the back. Busy bustling atmosphere. Lots of eye candy behind the display glass and you can even see the bake staff doing their thing in the back creating magic! Check out Ruby's on Church. Preach!!

Yelp
Came in on a rainy afternoon after the Lodi antique show on recommendation from a friend one of the vendors at the show. My avocado toast with two over easy eggs was a nice breakfast size with just the right amount of avocado spread. The bread toasted the edges had a nice crisp bite. My husband's breakfast sandwich he was pleased with and the bacon as crispy as he likes. I enjoyed my coffee an he enjoyed his hot chocolate as we watched the rain out the front window. Customer service was friendly the short line moved quickly. This is a small dinning area the seating is cozy can be too cozy for more than two, luckily it wasn't too busy during our visit. The customers appeared to be locals friends family. Yes recommend coming in.

Yelp
Excellent food and baked goods. I enjoy the variety they offer. My go to place for a nice breakfast.

Yelp
I might live in Sacramento but don't mind driving to Lodi for some delicious pastries !
google avatar

Yelp
Went back and Oh My Gosh, got my sugar bun, chocolate chip cookie and fruit bar to go. My guy and I had the avocado toast with egg and ricotta toast. Pure delight!!! This is our spot not, why go to France for pastries and food when we have Ruby's!!! Love this place!!
google avatar

Zachary V.

Yelp
Ruby's has the best pastries in the 209! All their staff are very friendly and inviting! You can smell the aroma of the pastries from a block away. It's not really a place to study though, it's more of a socializing environment since it's kind of loud. Overall I'd give it 5/5 stars !
google avatar

Masha D.

Yelp
It was magical !! We bought one round of breakfast, and then got a couple more for "later". Would go back in a heart beat if I didn't live in Colorado.

Yelp
Well... another location that had a big hype that missed the mark unfortunately. The place is small so if you're coming with a bigger group don't count on comfortable seating arrangements. All but one table is made for bigger groups. The line got long and there's no clear indication how or where to order. The coffee was just ok.. nothing exciting or new. Staffs customer service is 50/50. The place is modern and cute. Maybe more enjoyable during the week: staff is young and maybe not as experienced. Not sure if I would give this place another try.. especially because everything is higher priced. Which I don't care paying more for quality service and food! This sadly missed the mark!

Yelp
came to Ruby's and was greeted with a warm welcome! Ordered a cup of hot coffee and freshly baked croissant which was so buttery and flakey! definitely recommend! it was a little loud and they didn't have wifi to do some work on my computer but thankfully I had my kindle to do some reading!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this bakery cafe for the last few months and finally today was the day. I read an article from a food blogger about his travels to Lodi and this bakery. He said "the sugar buns were better than a Michelin rated Bay Area bakery" so I had to try them. The cafe/bakery was very cute, tidy, with plenty of seating for a small cafe. The staff were attentive and very accommodating. I ordered a dozen sugar buns to take to my staff at the Mercy Cancer Center in Sacramento. I decided to cut them into quarters as they looked very sweet. Similar to a croissant or cronut & was much like a "morning bun" from Freeport Bakery in Sacramento, but only better! Delectable pastry,, with an essence of orange citrus goodness. I can't believe this bakery is less than two miles from my house and my waist line is going to hate me!
google avatar

Winston L.

Yelp
No decafe coffee, no where to stand while waiting for an overpriced decafe coffee. Nice baked goods, but they convinced me starbucks isnt that bad.
google avatar

Nicole H.

Yelp
Delicious, buttery perfection!! Everything I tried was incredible, we ordered a lot to go (everything looked so good ). The staff is so friendly and greets every single person that walks in the door no matter how packed the restaurant is. Ruby's bakery is great breakfast or brunch spot!
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Holy Moly, the croissants from here are UHMAZING! I came to visit a friend who had a box of assorted croissants shown in the picture. There was an everything with cheese and peppers, ham and cheese, and hazelnut chocolate of some sort. It was absolutely delicious (my 10 month old agrees). I don't live close, so decided to grab some on my way home. Picked up a seasonal danish, butter croissant and a chocolate croissant (equally as delicious). The young lady helping me was so sweet, talking to my baby and was very personable! I loved seeing the 30+ banneton baskets of what I would assume was bread of some sort, as there's a huge glass window where you can see everything behind made.
google avatar

Jillian D.

Yelp
Impeccable service, amazing pastries, and the food is equally as delicious as the pastries!! Not pictured because we inhaled it: Avo toast with cherry tomatoes and a balsamic chimichurri with a fried egg (could eat this every.single.day) Bf ordered the breakfast sando and added bacon and avo (he is now addicted!!) We tried this place the weekend we were moved out of Lodi and will be making special trips just for Ruby's!
google avatar

Carolyn H.

Yelp
Great food and coffee. It's an actual working bakery! I got the iced decaf americano (fabulous) and the egg plate (bacon was delish). My husband ordered a drip coffee to go with the deli sandwich (loved it). My son had the classic croissant with cappuccino (nicely foamed). It was a bit warm in the bakery cafe during the summer. Most of it is self-serve, but the food makes up for anything that is lacking. We would come back again for sure.
google avatar

Gillian A.

Yelp
Okay Lodi, I see you. Small city with now one of my top bakeries that I've tried in NorCal! The croissants here (plain one and everything one) are huge! They're special also because they're outrageously fluffy on the inside while still having a crispy and flaky outer crust. As they're very light I didn't feel much guilt devouring one lol. I prefer the plain one over the "everything" one (it has everything but the bagel seasoning) though as I'm not the biggest fan of the savory cream cheese in it (a little curdled; this croissant pretty much would be fine with no filling at all). The chocolate almond croissant uses a different pastry dough and is more dense. It's alright; the chocolate is laid down so thickly that it's really hard to taste any almond flavor. Still good though with the delectably light chewy bite to it. If you see the chocolate chip cookie, get it. Perfectly chewy with pockets of delicious high-quality chocolate (tastes similar to the one in the chocolate almond croissant). Not overly sweet either. Coffee cake is super moist. Very friendly staff. Definitely a must-try if you're in the area or just passing through here (Lodi) via Highway 99!

Yelp
Great bakery cafe with fantastic food, baked goods, coffee, and service. I couldn't suggest it more.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything here is first rate. Highly recommend the sugar buns. Staff is friendly, attentive and care about the details. A vibrant environment - great for meeting friends and running into the movers and shakers of Lodi.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute spot with delicious goodies! I love bringing the rustic sourdough home to slab on salt and butter.

Yelp
I was in town for business and read that this place had really good reviews, sorry I decided to give it a try. and it did not disappoint! Everything, the savory, and the sweet is delicious. Cute vibe too.

Catherine C.

Yelp
Love their fresh baked goodies and bread. It's such a great treat. The only thing is they have short hours. I love their food as well.

Karen J.

Yelp
I had a turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich and can honestly say it was the best sandwich I've ever had. The sandwich was not only delicious but huge! I took half of it home for dinner. Great customer service and clean establishment. I will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little bakery we ran into after our Spa Retreat weekend! Yummy treats! Long line so it must be good! It went by pretty fast and efficiently. Will definitely be visiting again!
google avatar

Leilani L.

Yelp
Customer service at Ruby's was exceptional. The vibes are great, the food is even better!! Also, they serve Insight coffee!!! So good!
google avatar

Veronica N.

Yelp
I would say the ham and cheese croissant is my favorite here, everything else is like any other pastry. I will say that our family pre-ordered a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving and when they went to pick it up, they had cut into it and sold some slices. They offered to give us the pie as is but they missed the point that we needed it for our thanksgiving gathering and then tried to refund us via gift card instead of our money back. ‍

Yelp
Orange sticky bun. Try it and you are hooked for life! All of their baked goods are wonderful. Have not tried the in-house breakfast, but this place is lovely. It gets crowded and noisy on the weekends, but you can get their items to go too..
google avatar

KristieD H.

Yelp
Today this will be short... Chocolate Chip cookie ALWAYS a 5! Asparagus and cheese on sourdough toast was ok.. a 3.5. Kind of hard to eat whole asparagus on toast.. need to cut it up. Flavor ok but not wowed. Bread I can tell is a 5 though. Drink was a strawberry lemonade and that's a 4. Service a 4; they are kind enough but somebody else snatched up my drink and they had to remake mine. It took awhile cause they are busy .
google avatar

Jasmine L.

Yelp
This is Lodi's hidden little gem right here. Morning buns are a must (but you cant go wrong with any other pastry either). Drinks are delicious and the staff is always friendly.
google avatar

Liz L.

Yelp
We ordered a cold brew and a hot latte. My cold brew was so bitter I ended up throwing it away. My husbands latte was just okay. This was our 3rd visit but I was so disappointed with my drink I may not go back. Drinks 2 stars. Service 2.5 stars, the lady taking our order seemed to be overwhelmed. The croissants are 5 stars. I'm not sure if we just went at a bad time but the quality was not there on this last visit.
google avatar

Gina S.

Yelp
Ruby's is amazing! The staff is so friendly, the service is quick, and the food is devine! I have yet to try one thing I didn't love. My favorites are the dark chocolate mocha, the sugar bun and the chocolate chip cookie. My husband loves the ham and cheese croissant.
google avatar

Raquel R.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. I come almost every weekend and try to bring someone new to enjoy the experience. Great customer service and delicious food/coffee! The baked goods are super fresh!

Joe M.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place but seem to only be in Lodi when closed! Today, I was getting some work done on my car and finally got to try it. The place was very busy at lunch time. The workers were very friendly and efficient moving people along so it did not take too long. Loved the high end bakery vibe with plenty of breakfast, lunch and bakery items. The quality and portions were on point and as high end as you would find in San Francisco, Walnut Creek and Danville with matching prices. Be ready to spend $12 for a croissant and very small cappuccino, throw in a 20% tip and you're close to $15. Is it worth it? Would not do it every day but came away satisfied with the quality of the items I bought!

Yelp
First time tasting their fancy crow sandwich and Im super impressed with how it's exquisitely put together. From the bread to the last layer of cheese on top

Yelp
What an adorable cafe!! I was immediately greeted and met with a clean interior. It was giving.... REFRESHING. Everything was cute and clean and also.... So so so bright. It was dainty for sure. I always love interiors with white/grey color aesthetics so it was giving....... Modern. I got a sugar bun and black 12oz coffee. The coffee was clean, nothing to rave about but very solid. The sugar bun was so yum! I'm just bummed they don't offer to warm it up.... I feel like it would've hit a little different... I would truthfully give this spot a 4.5/5 but not halfsies I guess so we rounding up!
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
This is a great casual breakfast spot. You order at the counter, and then they deliver your food to the table. It's super packed and loud, which would normally not be my vibe, but there's something about the place that makes it ok. The staff knows everyone in the cafe. They greet you when you come in, and greet many by name coming and when they leave. Now to the food. I had the coffee cake which is one of my favorite things on the planet. It had an amazing thick cinnamon sugar crust on top, the cake was so moist and delicious. It was the perfect size. Not too big and bready, and the perfect amount of the buttery sugar cinnamon crispy topping. I had the grilled ham and swiss, it was the best grilled sandwich I've had. The bread was perfectly browned and buttery without being greasy, it had a good amount of ham, and a spicy dijon mustard that wasn't to bitter, and had a horseradish type bite. The bread was a crusty rosemary (but subtle) sourdough, that was the perfect pairing to the sandwich. My husband had the breakfast sandwich and added bacon. It looked amazing, and he said it was delicious. He also got a side of toast with homemade jam, which I poached some of for my grilled ham and it was fantastic. I don't know what the jam was, but it was clearly homemade. Maybe marionberry? Next stop here lunch!! Check out the coffees too, they do an amazing cappuccino. The staff is a well oiled machine.

Yelp
You will love this place. Pleasant, relaxed vibe. Hardworking, thoughtful staff. Simple, yet warm atmosphere. And of course, delicious breads, pastries, and coffee. My favorite is the mocha latte & sourdough bread. Highly recommended. Enjoy.

Yelp
DANG! The food was so good! Loved the quiche and the hazelnut twist was to die for. The folks at Ruby's clearly take pride in providing a friendly, welcoming vibe. The barista, Megan, totally sets the tone. Can't wait for our next trip to Lodi so we can stop in again.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! It was my second time here and I was very pleased. My mom and I got the sugar bun and croque monsieur toast and wow I'm not sure which was better. Please please try the sugar bun it is life changing as it is moist and sweet and slightly sticky-just perfect. The toast was such a great savory pairing and the bread tasted so fresh. My mom got a white mocha I believe and she said it was so frothy and wonderful. This place was packed on a Sunday morning so people know how good this place is! The first time I went I forgot to review but their croissants are also amazing. And the service when it was less crowded was super friendly:)
