The Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Austin

"Turns out kids can’t tell the difference between barbecue that people wait hours for and barbecue at places where you can sit immediately. While many Rudy’s locations are huge and located in gas stations, their barbecue is much better than you’d expect. Which means Rudy’s is your best bet in terms of the quality-of-meat-to-time-you-waited ratio." - adele hazan

Rudy’s Country Store & Bar-B-Q North Lamar - Review - North Lamar - Austin - The Infatuation

"While all Rudy’s tend to be huge and some look like gas stations, their barbecue is in fact better than you’d expect. There's often no wait, and they also do breakfast tacos." - Adele Hazan

Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q Review - Barton Creek - Austin - The Infatuation

"There’s a time and place to wait in line at a food truck for award winning brisket. However, there’s also a time and place to drive to a gas station and have a tray of freshly sliced barbecue in front of you in less than five minutes. When you’re after the latter, go to Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q. It’s the only fast food option on this list, and it’s perfect for when you want to avoid all the BS that often comes with getting barbecue in Austin." - Adele Hazan

There are many barbecue chains in Austin, but Rudy’s is the best. All their barbecue meats are excellent, but their sides are really special. I and particularly love the creamed corn, which sometimes is enough to get me to go here instead of another barbecue place. Their green chili stew is also excellent, and I think it’s made from brisket and chicken along with some vegetables and chilies. The potato salad is very good, as is the three bean salad. They have a fun hand washing machine that shoots out jets of whirling soapy, water, that is probably not as effective as just washing your hands with soap and water, but kids like it, and It’s probably better than getting barbecue sauce all over the handles of the sink from peoples greasy hands! Is Rudy’s as good as a place like Franklin? Definitively not, but you also don’t have to wait in line for three hours, and if you feel like getting barbecue at 9:30 in the evening, Rudy’s will be open, where is Franklin will probably have been closed for six hours already. Despite the fact that it’s a chain, they have still maintained their quality.

We walked in and we were greeted by the amazing staff on April 4 at 5 PM. They were so kind and they gave us a taste of samples so we knew what to choose. It helped us decide what we wanted to get and we were very pleased with our brisket sandwich and our pulled pork sandwich. The staff is very attentive and served us promptly and with a smile the place is very clean. The banana pudding is delicioso. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try Rudy’s or barbecue. This is a wonderful place. I’m definitely coming back.

Google
Vegetarian here, so I personally can't speak for the BBQ, but my son was very pleased with his meal. They gave him nice sized samples.to help him decide on the meat. The staff was nice and accommodating. I had a tasty baked potato with sour cream and butter.

Google
Not our best experience this visit. No greeting as we arrived. The brisket and pork loin I ordered were both dry and required the sauce. The manager and cashier were friendly. The store was clean and relatively quiet making conversation easy. I have had much better BBQ on previous visits.

Google
This place never really disappoints unless you forget the BBQ sauce, which is a must-have. I got a brisket sandwich and added both BBQ sauces to it, and it was absolutely amazing. Make sure you try the sassy sauce. It's not spicy at all. Service was a little weird. Wasn't bad, though. Just had to wait for someone to help me, which a kitchen worker was trying to figure out as well. As for the atmosphere. It's not bad just not my cup of tea. Lol, it's like siting at a cafeteria. All in all it's a must try BBQ restaurant. Definitely coming back.

Coffee drinkers ⚠️staff was removing Pecan flavor so could only get Regular. Get to work open the cup & stuff is floating around. UFOs unidentifiable floating objects. Management spare me the we’re sorry reply.

Google
You couldn't ask for better size servings of barbecue meat, brisket, chopped beef, sausage, baked potato and ribs anyway and all the proportions were very generous to me and Berry filling and very well cooked. Thank you again. Really experience

Google
Breakfast tacos or awful I ordered brisket and potatoes taco and a bean and sausage taco. Brisket, potatoes, sausage were so dry it's unbelievable. The tortillas were not cooked and we're still raw. Never again! 😔

Yelp
HOWDY, partner, if you haven't saddled up for breakfast tacos at Rudy's, you might be missing out on the wildest culinary rodeo in town! I ambled in, drawn by the mouthwatering scent of that wood-fired goodness, and lemme tell ya, my taste buds were ready to two-step! First off, the options! It's like a taco buffet in a tortilla, and this ain't no ordinary spread. Feeling adventurous? Try the "El Diablo" with spicy sausage that'll have you hollerin' hotter than a Texas summer! Want something classic? The egg and cheese combo wraps you up like a warm campfire blanket. And that brisket taco? It's like a hearty embrace from a long-lost cowboy friend! Now, hold onto your hats, 'cause here comes the quick breakfast taco to-go bar! If you're in a hurry to wrangle up your day (or just can't wait to chow down), you can grab a breakfast taco faster than a jackrabbit on the run. Load it up with all your favorite fixin's and hit the trail with a tasty breakfast in hand. Who says you can't ride into the sunset with a taco in your grip? But let me tell ya, it ain't just the food that makes Rudy's special--the staff is truly amazing! They greet you like family and serve up those tacos with a smile that could light up the darkest barn. Need a recommendation? They'll steer you right faster than a trusty steed! Each taco is customizable, so you can mix and match like a true culinary cowboy. Want avocado? You betcha! Salsa? You got it! A side of "Why didn't I do this sooner?" Well, partner, that's a given! I took a bite of my taco and suddenly understood why breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you reckon you can't have a hoedown before noon, you've never tasted Rudy's breakfast tacos. They come in various options, ensuring even the pickiest ranch hand leaves with a grin (and maybe a dab of salsa on their shirt). So, if you're lookin' for a breakfast that'll kick-start your day with a hearty laugh, a side of adventure, and some top-notch service, Rudy's is the place to hitch your wagon. Just be warned: one taco might lead to another, and before you know it, you'll be caught in a delicious whirl that'll rival a good ol' Western flick! In conclusion: Breakfast tacos at Rudy's--where your morning is always a little spicy, a whole lot of fun, and perfectly portable for your next adventure! Brilliant Dining!

Yelp
I'll be honest--Rudy's and I go way back, but it's really all about the creamed corn. That sweet, creamy goodness is legendary. But beyond that, I've been pretty "meh" about their menu...until the other night. After nine days of pet-sitting and way too many meals at Central Market, I was ready for anything else. Rudy's was just across the street, so I wandered over to see if anything could surprise me. Enter: the prime rib. It was chef's kiss fantastic. I'll definitely be back for that little masterpiece. The creamed corn? As dreamy as ever, of course. But then...there was the buttermilk pie. Let's just say it's stuck in a time warp from 1972, and Nana called to tell me they've lost the recipe--and the crust. "Made from scratch?" By who? Because it wasn't anyone with a grandma-approved recipe. I'll be passing on any desserts from Rudy's from now on... but that creamed corn!

Yelp
I've been to Rudy's a couple of times and have never been too impressed. I get the sense that Rudy's is a bit of a local institution that's been passed by in the modern era. You can walk in, get some meats, have a good time, but don't expect to be blown away by anything you order. I've tried all the meats on the menu. If I have to be real, turkey is kind of my favorite followed by sausage - both quite tasty and neither require sauce. The brisket, on the other hand, doesn't have much taste and has been quite dry the times I've visited; the sauces help but still, I've had much better. All the side are pretty good but I'd recommend the green chile stew - probably not the first thing on the list you're looking at but it's quite good. Prices are reasonable and the vibe is classic. Just wish I enjoyed the meat more.

Yelp
Rudy's has got some of the best fast barbecue in Texas. All the people are fun and their wet brisket is amazing.

Yelp
I used to visit this Rudy's regularly when I lived on N Lamar, especially for their great availability of group seating. My work group, usually over 15 people, often meets here, and the experience is always seamless. Recently, I had a wonderful interaction with the manager when there was an error with my to-go order. They went above and beyond to make it right, which really stood out to me. My go-to is the Baker with two meats--it's the best value on the menu! Their turkey is my all-time favorite, followed closely by the spicy chop. This Rudy's is consistently reliable!

Yelp
Good barbecue and low-key ambiance. They offer both meat by the pound and sandwiches. Their moist brisket is top notch. I last came here on a Monday night and there was no line and the store was mostly empty. We got served quickly and the food was delicious. I really like their bbq sauce, which adds flavor without covering the smokiness of the meat itself.
google avatar

Yelp
Decent fast food barbecue. Nothing wrong with it but there are so many other bbq joints within this area if you are looking for for true Texas bbq.

Yelp
I know Texas BBQ is a thing, and highly competitive. I'm from out of town, and a friend stopped here for take-away, so I decided to pick some up for my family as well. There wasn't a big line, so the staff was patient while I decided. I got brisket, sausage and turkey. I also got new potatoes and cole slaw and finally had to get the cobbler. They asked if we needed bread, and I'm glad I said yes. Very soft, thin white bread. The service was great. The restaurant was clean. But they didn't offer me any BbQ sauce. Oh boy! Everything was well packed and tasted great.
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
Rudy's for me is the old faithful of bbq joints. It's not artisanal, but it works. Most locations have gas stations, to give some context. Get the moist brisket, creamed corn, beans and potato salad. It comes with nearly a half loaf of white bread and pickles and onions. I love the old school coolers with drinks as you wait.
google avatar

Kendric D.

Yelp
Rudy's was not too bad, I thought it had a good taste. The brisket was a little dry and somewhat tough, the pulled pork was juicy and tasty, and peach cobbler was great and sweet! The bbq sauces were not too bad I just wish they had one a little sweeter. Overall the staff was friendly and gave us free cups! You can get seated fairly quick, the overall feel is pretty laid back! I'd come back to try more options on the menu.

Gabrielle M.

Yelp
The food is outstanding, with tender, flavorful meats perfectly smoked. The sides complement the main dishes beautifully, offering a true taste of authentic barbecue. Each meal is a hearty, satisfying experience and a high-quality BBQ.
google avatar

Clint S.

Yelp
Central Texas is known for having the best barbecue in the world, and there are certainly plenty of places to get some, but I personally don't need any high end places where I have to stand in line for hours. Rudy's serves up equally high quality meats from friendly locals for much cheaper and no hassle of waiting. Plus they pay their employees a livable wage.
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
Wanted to try a little bit of everything. My fave was the baby back ribs, moist, flavorful - falls off the bone. Second was the moist brisket. I do love my moist meat!! Ha! So good. Lastly, the pork loin. Kinda dry but was really good with their house made Rudy sauce. The cole slaw pretty standard. The banana pudding...could use more vanilla wafers and less whip cream but still pretty damn tasty! Go and get the ribs, you'll thank me later.

Yelp
I had reason to go downtown this morning so I came to the Rudy's on Lamar for breakfast. In the past regardless of the location Rudy's has always had consistent breakfast tacos. This is no longer true. The tortillas at this location are awful. I don't get it Rudy's, the franchise owners had such a great thing going and now that corporate has taken back over you keep trying to cut costs by buying bad ingredients. You have central market across the street where they make great tortillas. Why ruin my breakfast with crappy tortillas?! And why don't the employees say "howdy" or even "hello" when I walk in the door anymore? Corporate has taken Rudy's down a bad road. Makes me so sad...

Camilla R.

Yelp
The cashier Jack was so nice and friendly! He made the experience so much better and comfortable. The restaurant was also very clean and well put together. The cashier jack helped me order as it was my first time and the potato had a perfect amount of sour cream & butter. It was a perfect meal. Amazing bbq 10/10.

Kristine L.

Yelp
A little birdy told me this place was better than Terry Blacks - so I had to try it for myself! I came on a Sunday evening with only a few people in the restaurant. They have so many coolers lined up by the cashier filled with drinks in case the line gets very long. We didn't need to this time around. We ordered the moist brisket (1/2 lbs) and baked beans. To be honest, the meat had a great smoked char on the edges, but the meat itself was alright. I also couldn't tell the difference between the original bbq sauce and the sissy bbq sauce. I was also not impressed with the plain white bread. It was a little stale in my opinion. What was really cool was the automated hand washing station. There is a machine right by the sinks that soaps and rinses your hand all in one! I'm not sure it actually cleans your hands, but it felt really good after my meal. Overall, a decent bbq spot, but not my favorite.

Alexa S.

Yelp
I love Rudy's. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I love their food. This is a great location.

Tommy M.

Yelp
This was my first official Texas BBQ. Ordering was easy, but make sure you order enough... I never knew pulled pork, moist brisket and baby back ribs would be this delicious! I had ordered for a small get together and everyone LOVED it, including me! The people working there were very helpful, and I have to give this place 5 stars! I first tried the pulled pork and could not believe the flavor was so outstanding- I could have died right then and been happy. It was a little slice of heaven in my mouth!
google avatar

Miguel T.

Yelp
This was some really good food. It was like eating at home very laid back nothing fancy the food speaks for itself. Great place to just enjoy good food and friends.
google avatar

Frank T.

Yelp
Their BBQ is top notch and no frills. Laid back setting with all the tasty BBQ you can imagine. And they don't run out either like the other places and tastes just as good if not better. So lucky to have one right around the corner from me. Added plus is their Breakfast Tacos, which you can grab and go, and won't cost you an arm and a leg like some of those trendy but not so tasty places.
google avatar

Yelp
I have to say, it really hurts me to say this because I actually love Rudy's. Especially the other locations, the one off 183 is fantastic. Rudy's is known for its enthusiastic staff, a high-energy atmosphere, and really quite good food. But this location is different. It's more quiet, almost somber. There's a strange smell, like there might be a gas leak or something, and the food has a similar taste. I don't know what's going on with the management here, but it doesn't really live up to the Rudy's that I know and love.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
Rudy's consistently provides great food! I had the pleasure of working across the street and had access to some good barbecue. Since it was late in the evening, I opted for a brisket sandwich, slaw and a sweet tea. First, the buns were lightly toasted, buttered and the brisket was skillfully sliced and placed on the bun. The coleslaw was finely chopped and creamy. After I dressed the sandwich with coleslaw, onions, pickles and there signature sauce, I bit into this sandwich and was extremely pleased. Also, each bite of the sandwich was accompanied with a scoop of coleslaw. Ultimately, I enjoyed premium brisket, coleslaw, sauce and buttered bread with each slice! Finally, Rudy's continues to provide good food at most of there locations. By all means, visit this location while you are in the Central Park area. You will be pleased!!
google avatar

Laure H.

Yelp
Surprised this place doesn't have more reviews. Their food is really good! I ordered the pork sausages, brisket, cream corn, and potato salad. I thought the meat was excellent and the brisket a perfectly amount of smoked (get it very moist)! Cream corn was also surprisingly good, and the sausages really tasty albeit a bit too oily. The only thing they are missing is Mac and cheese :(( A bbq place without Mac and cheese... how can this be? Also the inside is very cute and Texas-y, perfect for tourists

Yelp
We stopped here for a work lunch order. This is a local favorite to bring visitors from out of town to dine. It's also a great location to meet up with large groups, especially in the party room. The service is friendly and fast. The atmosphere is perfect for the classic Texas barbeque experience. You can bring your pup and dine, but seating is limited outside. We normally grab bagfuls of breakfast tacos to go from here. As with most bbq places, you choose the meats, sides, and quantities of all. You pay by weight for the meats. For this last visit, we picked up lean brisket, pork ribs, sausage, and individual pecan pies. The bbq "sause" was already prepackaged for convenience to go. The brisket was tender perfection and as lean as requested. The pork ribs were tender. The sausage is substantial. The pecan pies were worth trying as well. Needless to say, it was finger-licking good stuff!
google avatar

Regina M.

Yelp
The quality of food from a take out place should not be so hit or miss. I sometimes pick up their custom made breakfast tacos for another person. Sometimes they are very good, sometimes they lack ingredients, sometimes they are practically inedible. If we go to the trouble of complaining, the store is good about replacements, but I would prefer to expect quality every time. This happens too often. Since the food is take out and wrapped well (and for another person!) it does not feel right to open and inspect it each time. Nor would the problem be obvious. The person I bring this to is polite and would not speak up, but I have begun to ask about the quality. This last time, they said that the meat was bland and rubbery. I'm no judge of good bbq, but that does not sound right to me!
google avatar

Tracey Z.

Yelp
Classic Texas BBQ chain for a reason! Always such a treat to come here. You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu here - although I really recommend the brisket and creamed corn. The brisket is so soft and tender and packed with that unbeatable smokey flavor. The creamed corn on the side pairs perfectly, very rich and creamy. Personal favorite is the potato salad! This place is perfect for anyone visiting town who wants a taste of Texas BBQ. Don't forget to washing your hands :).

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here for a quick lunch after buying a new house. We need a good food base for moving and Rudy's provided. We ordered ribs and potato salad to split. The ribs were over cooked and unfortunately dried out. The potato salad was good. My husband ordered a 0.25 pounds of brisket which is also said it was a little dried out. The winner was my turkey. It was perfectly moist and delicious. I would definitely recommend. The service was great at the counter. We also grabbed a giant bottle of Rudy's sauce for home.

Yelp
No No No No No Dear Texans ... I am not giving the BBQ at Rudy's five stars. The BBQ at Rudy's is quite good. If you lived in anywhere other than Texas, North Carolina or Kansas City, You would think Rudy's BBQ is legendary. And for a place like New York State, you would be quite right. I am always happy to eat at Rudy's ... I take my out of town guests to Stiles Switch or La Barbecue or Micklethwait's. This is where you get the life-changing all-out intensive barbecue experience. If my guests are tourists who need photo ops, they get the Salt Lick or Smitty's. Some people care more about the pictures than the food. But for everyday eating you won't go wrong with Rudy's. Everyday barbecue in Texas is better than fancy food in most other places in the Universe. * * * That said, what is the five stars for? It is for their creamed corn. Have you ever had the creamed corn at Rudy's? Never mind the inedible slop called cream corn that was served to you for school lunch. Never mind that that same inedible slop shows up in cans on your grocery store shelf. Green Giant, Del Monte, the Store Brands, they are all the same. All awful. Rudy's has creamed corn for the gods. It is the best thing on their menu. It doesn't hurt that food scientists now have corn that ships that is just as sweet as if you picked the corn in the field two minutes ago and boiled it on the spot. It doesn't hurt that real white sauce is one of the finest ingredients on the planet. Yuppie cooks have forgotten how awesome a good white sauce can be. Put perfect corn in perfect white sauce and you have perfect pleasure. I will sign up for perfect pleasure every time. * * * Just for the record - the Rudy's take on pork ribs is not your standard take on pork ribs. There is almost no smoke in the meat at all. If you want sauce, you will have to add it room temperature at the table. As far as I can see, there is no fancy marinade and no elaborate dry rub. These are plain ordinary pork ribs. With just a touch of black pepper on the fatty parts. I can easily learn to love plain ordinary pork ribs with just a touch of black pepper. Some of the basic pleasures in life are simple. * * * All in all, a fine establishment that does not get enough respect in Texas. Worship at the Temples of the Great Barbecue Gods. The Great Barbecue Gods really are Great Barbecue Gods. But Texas Barbecue is wonderful stuff even when prepared by mere mortals. Particularly when the Great Creamed Corn God has a sanctuary in the back.

Yelp
I stopped at the north Lamar location for a quick lunch. I picked up one of the pre-made chopped BBQ sandwiches. It was barely warm, the bun was greasy and the meat was OK but not great. The worst was the cost, $8! I then went to Short Stop and got a cheeseburger and French fries for $8 which was a much better deal and it made my wife happy.

Darren U.

Yelp
Read Kev G.'s review from 8/6/23. I could not have said it any better. I'm looking at the positive though - it only cost me $35 to KNOW, DEFINITIVELY, BEYOND THE SHADOW OF ANY DOUBT, TO NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT EVER AGAIN. I guess I'll add that calling it the McDonald's of BBQ is actually an insult to McDonalds. One more note - when the lady at the front counter (who asked me if "I'd ever been there before", bad sign) put the brisket on the scale, I could see that it was terribly overcooked and dry (it was, I had to get home to find out it was also, somehow, miraculously without any flavor whatsoever (spice rub, Rudy's???). I pointed this out to the poor woman and she just gave me a blank stare. What an awful experience.

Yelp
Dropped off Mrs. Texas at the Red Stella Salon and headed straight to Rudy's for some Slap Yo Momma Good BBQ. They now serve sandwiches and baked potatoes. I got a chopped beef potato with butter, cheese, no sour cream. It was huge !!! I could only eat half !!! Not every Rudy's offers sandwiches or potatoes, and some offer a green chili stew which is Slap Yo Momma Good as well. Not every Rudy's location is the same as far as the menu or the quality of the bbq, but this location is a 5 Star location. Worthy of a bookmark and a try.

Yelp
I find I can get consistently good breakfast tacos at this location, with the same quality salsa.  Gold for that. The brisket is is delicious, always cut just right. I'm always given as much bread as I want (I make skinny sandwiches!). I love the cole slaw and potato salad too.  And the Rudy's Sause: gotta use it! And no, not the Sissy Sause (if you're an adult Texan). Let's talk about service: you will never find an employee at that counter who seems unhappy with their job. The set up of Rudys' causes customers and front line workers to really engage with each other.  And the folks here are great! My only problem with this location is that I've had problems with online orders. It's disappointing to open your bags to find missing or incorrect food. That said, each time, somehow the restaurant has worked to make it right.  However, we will not be ordering online anymore.  We will come here to dine in because we know it will be a experience.

Yelp
OMG!!!!Now this is Texas fast food at its best. We both ordered baked potatoes with butter, sour cream and cheese. We choose to add two meats. We got brisket and pulled pork. I also ordered a half sausage. The potatoes were the biggest I've ever seen. Done to perfection. No knife needed. The potato was so soft and creamy. The skins were also very soft. The brisket was so smokey and tender along with the pulled pork. I highly recommend it. The counter help was very polite and professional. We asked for extra sour cream,we got as much as we needed without any additional cost. Folding chairs and tables, all you need to enjoy excellent food . When in Austin Texas hunt this place down. It's only 20min from the airport. Enjoy!

Yelp
Delish! And clean. I took my food to go but felt very comfortable had I eaten there. Great atmosphere and service. Thank you.

Yelp
I'm all fired up about this Rudy's location. Clean bathroom. Parking at the door. Eat in or grab something already made to go. Great to have a stop downtown like this.

Yelp
This was my first Texas barbecue experience, and it was quite disappointing. We got the St. Louis ribs, brisket, sausage, cream corn, and coleslaw. I thought the ribs tasted absolutely horrible, but I might just have some weird, specific taste aversion. The brisket was pretty good, and the sausage was alright. A lot of people liked the cream corn, but I thought it tasted so bad. The coleslaw was good, but I always like coleslaw. It's nice they give you free white sandwich bread.

Our first stop in Texas! Once we figured out how to order the bulk meat, we had a great lunch, eating off the paper. We tried the brisket, the moist brisket, the turkey, and the pulled pork. I bought a bottle of the spicy hot bbq sauce to take home

Yelp
Every time I come to Texas I've gotta make a stop at Rudy's! Man, I love this place. The service is always wonderful, and the food is always amazing. Today I went with the moist brisket and the St. Louis style ribs. . Note - if you get the moist ribs, be sure to consume some tasty fat. It's good for you, right? You MUST get the creamed corn, as well. My dad got the turkey - oh baby. Bottom line -- you can't go wrong with anything here. Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Went to Rudy's while visiting Austin on a recommendation and it was what I hoped in BBQ experience in the city. The place is spacious with plenty of seating (many picnic-style tables), and they've got a good system to get you the tremendous food. It's the type of place where there's not a lot on the menu, but you still feel like you're missing out if you don't try many options because they all sound so good. At the register, they were incredibly friendly and helpful. They'll provide you with a few samples if it's your first time to Rudy's, which is a great feature and helps set the stage for your meal (they'll also give you a basic recommendation of how much meat makes for a good meal so you can make an educated decision). I ordered the moist brisket and a peach cobbler for dessert. BBQ sauce was readily available, but I only used enough to try because once I started eating the brisket, I wanted to savor the flavor of the meat without distraction. Writing this review makes me want to go back to Austin to eat at Rudy's - will certainly stop by if I'm ever in town again.

Yelp
4.5 stars! Good kind service, clean, casual, lots of regulars for your typical Texas BBQ! Prices are really reasonable. Food is consistent and tasty. The turkey is nice and tender. I like the spicy jalapeños sausage the best. Brisket is good, the moist is fattier meats and that one is definitely a favorite here. Potato salad is good and I love the extra raw onions to help yourself (along with pickles and bbq sauce). Generous complimentary sliced bread. Just the typical white bread. They also have a really convenient handwashing station outside of the bathroom so you can wash your hands before you go in. They even have an automated handwashing station but I haven't used it before.

Yelp
Please update your hours online online it says you open at 6:00am. It's annoying to drive all the way to your restaurant then have the employees stare at me when I try to open locked doors.

Yelp
OMG I love this place. The wait was a little longer than usual. But there was a big party ahead of us. The food is always worth the wait. Brisket is juicy and perfect, I love the cole slaw here. And cream corn. Had a wonderful dinner, and the left overs will be great for lunch tomorrow.

Yelp
You have to love the old fashion feeling when walking in the door on this place. Nicely setup, makes you walk through your drink selections. It's nice change seeing glass bottles instead of the usual cans or plastic 20oz bottles. Food was great. The only thing I didn't like was it wasn't really warm. 5 stars if it was hot. I wish I would have had a picture. Portions are big, service is excellent. I will be back to this location.

Yelp
This has been my "go to" breakfast spot for the past three years. Usually a couple of times a week. Well, my past three times they have gotten my breakfast orders completely wrong. Not even close to accurate. I realize it's a challenge right now to find competent employees, but this is ridiculous. If you are willing to "spin the wheel" and accept anything they give you, then the food is very good. But, don't expect to get what you ordered. Follow up. While leaving, I happened to see the manager on duty. I told him about the last three orders being wrong. Included that I didn't get the brisket that I had ordered. He looked at me like "a cow staring at a gate" and mumbled "Sorry, I will ask the staff to be more careful in the future" and turned his back to empty a used coffee filter from the basket. I gave up and just walked out.

Yelp
I sure enjoy their breakfast tacos however every weekend they somehow manage to mess up a very simple transaction. This week no hot sauce. Rudy's makes an orange colored hot sauce which is very good! However this week there wasn't any available. I asked my cashier, expecting her to go get some from the back instead she said they "stopped making it."What? I don't believe that. I then asked if they had any in the back and she just shrugged. She wasn't going to check, she didn't care. The tacos, which are consistently excellent were horrible. Cold tortilla! 1st taco huge amount of egg, basically no cheese or bacon. I couldn't even close the tortilla. 2nd taco cold tortilla, filled w bacon pieces and cold cheese, and very little eggs. So many bacon pieces the taco tasted like bacon grease. Gross! Your tacos can be exceptional. Why are they not consistently so?

Yelp
This place is literally the McDonald's of BBQ$ They should be ashamed and embarrassed of themselves for even calling themselves a "BBQ" restaurant, ESPECIALLY in Texas! I ordered the "moist" brisket and it was like beef jerky. It was absolutely disgusting and tasted like lighter fluid. The turkey was decent but not great. The manager showed me moist brisket and looked the same. He argued with me stating that's how we sell it here and there was nothing wrong. The green chili stew was nasty! Had no flavor and was so spicy. Oh and my food is served to me in a empty pepsi bottle tray? What? How anyone thinks that this place is even considered "BBQ" is beyond me. Stay away and go to another bbq place that is authentic.

Yelp
OMG the best BBQ I've ever had! Yes, it's a lil on the pricey side but well worth it. Ordered the 2 meat sandwich (turkey and pork) as I already had red meat 2x in a row. Sounds like a strange combo but it was delish! Creamed corn was to die for and the potato salad was very good. Also got a mini pecan pie and that was good as well. The only con is you cannot order a chicken sandwich as they do not shred the meat.

Yelp
I came down to Austin for a wedding and my friend had her rehearsal dinner here. The food was delicious! We had brisket, turkey and sausage and it was all great. The brisket was amazing. Very tender and flavorful. The BBQ sauce was just right. A little spicy and a little sweet. Local friends said they also have a sissy sauce and a spicy sauce. For sides we had potato salad and beans. The potato salad was great, but I personally didn't care for the beans. I loved the ease of the meal and the large space. Great job Rudy's :)!

Yelp
First off, the employees here are so nice. This is the first time we have been and the young woman at the counter walked us through the menu and made us very comfortable. I like the drink selection as they have a lot of cool bottled beer and beverages. The problem is the food was not good bbq. And I will explain. We got baby back ribs, lean brisket and smoked turkey. This is the same items we get at every bbq place. The ribs were ok. They were tender. But they were soggy. There was no crust at all and no flavor in way of seasoning. The brisket tasted like it was steamed to be reheated from the day before. It was very rubbery. The turkey was moist but definitely lacked that flavor of bbq. I do have to say I saw someone else get brisket and his looked very good. He asked for lean too but his had a nice black crust. Maybe I just got a bad batch. However again, I am very impressed by the customer service there.
