A family-run institution since 1994 overlooking the Southwest side; loved for huevos rancheros, chorizo stacks, and anytime margaritas. Current hours on the restaurant’s site and local press nods back its staying power.

We've been here plenty of times throughout the years. First and foremost the driveways are extremely steep! Low clearance vehicles will not make it in the entrance near the jeep tours. You have to go to the further entrance and still go at an angle and SLOW! Breakfast is my favorite time of day! Everything is absolutely amazing and prices are great for the portions you receive! Service is always fast and friendly. Good is always phenomenal!

The food is just okay, its very much tuned for the pallet of the typical Colorado Springs resident. I got the fried chimichanga. When it came out, it was nice and crunchy but thanks to the green salsa on top it quickly became soggy. Ask for the salsa on the side. It feels like the flavor is purposefully being held back. Some things like their salsas are so well made, but then the main entrees are just so bland and uninspiring. Its okay for what it is and for the price. If you are from an area that has authentic Mexican food like Arizona, New Mexico, or California, you probably won't like this place. But if you aren't used to good Mexican food (Tex Mex), youll definitely love this place. For me its a hard pass but If you think salt is spicy, this place is for you.

We have been going here for years. The service is always excellent and the people are very friendly. I love sitting in the room with the big fireplace, stained glass and gorgeous view. The food is always so delicious.

I wanted to try something new for lunch on my birthday and decided to check out Rudy’s Little Hideaway after hearing some great things. First off, the view was beautiful. I sat outside on the patio, and the overcast weather actually made it really pleasant. My server, Yasir, was an absolute gem, sweet, helpful, and very attentive. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. The food was just… meh. Very typical, uninspired Mexican fare, nothing that stood out or made me want to come back. I ordered a combo plate with an enchilada, a poblano stuffed with chorizo, and a tostada with beans and rice. I asked for my green chili on the side (I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to spice). The enchilada’s cheese wasn’t even melted, and the meat, beans, and rice lacked any real flavor. The poblano was just okay, probably thanks to the chorizo, which added the only noticeable flavor. The margarita was too sweet and not well-balanced, which was a real disappointment because I know and love my margaritas. I was really hoping for better. Funny enough, the photo I took makes the lunch look beautiful, but trust me, it tasted nothing like it looked. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

First stop on the COS trip. Mmm! I love trying new foods, especially authentic local dishes. Recommend!

Stopped for brunch. Food is good and reasonably priced, except my husband's Machaca Scramble had more beans than scramble. Chips and salsa were fresh. They were expecting a large party on the patio, so we could not sit outside this time.

Great breakfast. I will be back for lunch and breakfast again soon. Carnitas were perfectly cooked and the green chili smothered burrito didn't disappoint either.

Yelp
We went for a late lunch. It wasn't very busy. It took at least 30 min for the food. I got the chicken tamales with green chili. It was good but a lot of masa. The chicken could have had more flavor. But rice and beans were really good. One of my adult children had the fajitas and said it was good. My husband and other adult child spilt Rudy's molcajete. I got a little taste and wow! It was awesome! I'd totally get that next time. Rich flavors and slow cooked meats, excellent. Service was friendly and it's cute inside. They gave a nice deck for outdoor dining that looks out to toward the mountains. My suggestion... get on the mocktail wagon! My adult children don't like alcohol so they like specialty mocktails. Also, breakfast, add some specialty coffees. :-)

Yelp
This is a great breakfast place - opens early (6:30 am in summer, 8am after 8/5/25) and has reasonable prices for hearty servings of good food. The decor is simple and rustic, and reflects the Mexican food thing. Service is quick.

Joy S.

Yelp
Rudy's was amazing! Our server Alexis went above and beyond the call of duty. My husband is a true connoisseur of Carne Asada, and he said it was the best he ever had. The patio view at sunset was amazing. I can't recommend this place highly enough. We'll be back!

Judy G.

Yelp
Great food and the service was great. Went with a big group for breakfast. Service was fast and helpful. The mexico ambiance was cute.

Yelp
Tucked away behind Motor City lies a delicious Mexican restaurant called Rudy's Hideaway. Their breakfast nachos are a home run hit everytime. The wait staff are super friendly. They make you feel like you are among your Aunt's and Uncles. Rudy may pop over to wipe down a nearby table and check on you real quick. Have room for something sweet after your meal? You have not lived until you try their blueberry pancakes ! Pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee

Linda S.

Yelp
First time at this little place. The food is phenomenal. Honestly the best fajitas I've ever eaten. Everything was fresh and freshly prepared even the chips and guacamole are homemade. Great food great service and great prices.

Yelp
SLO-o-w service, great food and prices. Eggs not as ordered. Our favorite place to eat on the patio.

Yelp
Every time I come to the Springs I visit Rudy's. One of my friends who loves spicy food introduced me to it years ago and I've come here ever since. They have a lot of great dishes, but my favorite is the El Rey burrito, which has polish sausage, potatoes, eggs, cheese, green chili...yeah, all good stuff, and a nice burn. Service is always good and it's a friendly, relaxed place. It's off the beaten path but packed with locals, one of the ways you know it's good.

Chris ..

Yelp
On the good side, cheese enchiladas (with the red sauce) and the hash browns were very good and a tremendous value. The HB's were perfectly cooked. The enchiladas were hardy enough that I could taste the cheese. I would order this again. On the bad side and therefore, only 3 stars, the refried beans were overly runny and tasted as if the lard was rancid. The food was warm, but not hot. The corn tortillas were overly steamed and would not hold together. Given the great ratings for Rudy's, I left disappointed.

Yelp
It's a great TexMex place that I believe is underrated. When my husband and I travel, we usually don't go to the same restaurants twice, but we just had to come back for the basket of churros! I wish we took pictures of our dinner, but the burrito, enchilada, tamale combo was great and the Power Bowl was delicious!

Christina S.

Yelp
Went to Rudy's for breakfast this morning and I was so happy to see fair prices on the menu ! The food was delivered to our table rather quickly ! I love that you could tell it was made with "real" and fresh ingredients. The green chili was so flavorful + hot. Definitely worth the trip across town !

Yelp
Service was prompt and efficient. Food was ok, better than Taco Bell, but not Senor Manuel's.

Yelp
Burrito chimichanga with carne asada and green chile...oh my goodness! Just amazing...the ambiance reassured you, you were in the right place for Mexican food and the service was everything you'd expect it to be. Coming from Texas, I'm definitely a little apprehensive about getting good Mexican food when I travel. Rudy's didn't NOT disappoint and I could eat there every week! The food came out fast and piping hot. The chimichanga was fried to perfection, the burrito was big enough to feed two people. The green Chile brought out all the flavors and they didn't skimp on the carne asada. Paired with the usual company of rice and refrained beans and I left there a happy woman.

Yelp
We came to this cozy little place after waiting over an hour at another restaurant. Arrived here about 20 minutes before closing and had no idea but the staff was very welcoming and had no issue with serving us! It was quite a relaxing atmosphere with a good amount of natural light and perfect music to set the mood. The food came out quick and everything requested was brought with our meals. Just wish the green chili was a bit more spicy. I'd suggest this restaurant to anyone that enjoys Mexican cuisine, I'll have to try more of the breakfast items next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
We loved the convenience of coming here for lunch after a fun Jeep ride with Adventures Out West - right next door. I had the burrito with green sauce and my husband had tacos - all very flavorable! The chips and salsa were also delicious. We were waited on by two people who couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. You get a very reasonable amount of food for your money. The dining area was clean and there was enjoyable music playing. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
My significant other and I have been coming here for over a decade for breakfast most weekends. The food is excellent. It is genuine Mexican food from a very specific province. The owner Rudy gets to know all of his customers by coming around and greeting everybody at the table. He does a lot of the cooking and is responsible for most of the recipes. This business has been around for something like 30 years because it's so good. The prices are very reasonable and it is unlike any Mexican restaurant in town because it is specifically very genuine food, made from scratch. He does not get this stuff trucked in frozen from Sysco. In fact, no big truck would ever be able to come into or fit anywhere near his parking lot and there is no way he can even get deliveries of that kind. (I'm a retired trucker - I know of what I speak.) The service is excellent, the food is excellent, the customer service is outstanding, and I cannot think of a single complaint I have ever had about their food. Or their service. Or the charming atmosphere or the wonderful view of the mountains. A lot of tourists like going here but there are also hundreds of regulars that fill up the tables every weekend. They have a pleasant outdoor patio as well for dining during good weather. Can't say enough good about them!

Yelp
The food is delicious and the service is excellente'! You get massive servings at an affordable price. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it's the best place in town.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service! I have always gotten very good service at this place. It's nice to sit outside in the better weather and they have the best chips in town!
google avatar

Jodi W.

Yelp
Food is outstanding flavors and authentic. We had the chicken Tostadas and Smothered Green chili and red chili burrito with beans and rice. Beans are are delicious. Chips and salsa were incredible too- crispy homemade chips and extra tasty salsa. Super friendly and efficient servers. The only missing star is the outside building appearance needed cleaned up, mowed etc. We at first thought they were closed. We will definitely be back.

Levetts K.

Yelp
The food is delicious. I particularly like their breakfast selection. Careful going up the driveway.
google avatar

Jackson L.

Yelp
Service was fine. View is great! So that's nice. Food was pretty decent and the chips were amazing. Ordered a "churro Sundae" and literally got a scoop of vanilla with churros on the side of it. Not much of a Sundae if you ask me? Waste of money

Cindy M.

Yelp
Flies everywhere. Food not yummy. Did not take home leftovers. Will not be back. Sadly.

Yelp
Love this place! The servers are nice and attentive. Almost everything I've tried, I have liked. I love their huevos rancheros, chips n salsa, stuffed poblano is better than the relleno but like both, both red and green sauce is tasty! Plus, their prices are amazing! We always tip more because of this.

Doreen C.

Yelp
I cannot express how good their food is. The green chili and red sauce was amazingly good. The option to have both should be taken. The little angels sing while eating their menu items. So yes we loved it. The margaritas were on point. appropriate ammount of booze and mixture. It was clean, our server was attentive. We do highly recommend them. We will definitely go back.
google avatar

Yelp
What a surprise this place was. We nearly drove on by as it's quite dated and when you step in the need for a facelift was stronger. But let me say the food was terrific, and fresh. We wondered why the chips took a bit to get to the table until they came and we're fest and hot just out of the fryer. That's right they were house made. Do let looks deceive this was good fresh food and reasonably priced. We'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem. This place has great portions and awesome food. We forget about it most times because the location but it's great!

Dwain C.

Yelp
Awesome little hidden gem. Everything we've had there is excellent. Texmex enchiladas are especially delicious.

Yelp
My last review was three stars, I have to up it to four because today, it really hit the spot for lunch! I enjoyed everything, margarita, chips salsa, tostada cheese enchilada poblano Chile and rice and beans. I'm so glad I gave this place a second chance. Prices are reasonable too.

Carolann M.

Yelp
I ate here for the first time recently. The patio was a nice place to sit and have dinner, the food was really good and the prices reasonable. The only negative was they seemed to be short-handed (who isn't?) but we waited quite awhile for our food, and didn't get the best service, I would try it again though.
google avatar

Dave G.

Yelp
Food was excellent The staff was welcoming and kind The view of pikes peak from the patio was out of this world. I would recommend you find this little Hideaway called Rudy's.

Nick G.

Yelp
Been to this restaurant on two different occasion an both times the order was totally cold, nothing worse than cold Mexican food! The order was wrong the last time and had to wait for another cold plate.

Jasmine F.

Yelp
I got food poisoning two days ago eating their green chili enchiladas. I'm just now recovering. Don't go here....
google avatar

L R.

Yelp
This is a nice spot. The atmosphere is lovely. While not the best Mexican food around, it is very good. The service was good as well.
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Oh man. Where to begin? Don't go here for Mexican food. Bad experience overall. We walked into the restaurant and the vibe was very...slow, quiet, awkward? We walked in confused about seating. A waiter approached us and said we can seat in the porch is we wanted. We did. We walked outside and all tables were dirty. The floor was also covered in cotton balls, dirt, pieces of food. There was menus on the table already. After looking through it the waiter said they are the wrong menus. She gave us new menus. Then the drinks came out. They didn't taste like real soda. Very watered down. Then apparently the cooks wanted to go home 30 minutes early so our food was forgotten and ignored. The waiter that was assisting us (which was very sweet) said she reminded them of our order. So we waited around 30 minutes for our food. Then the food came out and it was not good. Very salty and no good flavor.
google avatar

Yelp
Omg! Amazing service and excellent food! Love love this place. Will definitely be back. And I do recommend the restaurant as a good place to enjoy breakfast
google avatar

Yelp
Reminded me of Grandma Guerrero's when family met every Sunday. Everybody would help Grandma make breakfast and lunch! The food was like Grandma's! Freaking delicious! Service was great! I guess the best time to go is during the the week....will we be back? Oh hell yeah!!!

Ron O.

Yelp
Great Mexican food and great service. Love this place. We're always happy with our food. That's all.

Yelp
First time at this resturant, as we had "heard" good things about it. First, we were there at 1 PM on a Sunday and we decided to sit outside on the deck/patio they have. Nice shade area, fans going - to help us stay cool. The view from the deck is fantastic. Service - really (really, really...) lacking. We were there for 1 hr and 20 min before getting our food. It took forever to get chips and drinks and forever to get our order, then forever to get our food. Now if the food was so amazing - perhaps theextreamly long wait would have been worth it. It was good food, but not anything to write home about. I had the Rudy's Fajita Special, which was Shrimp, Chicken and Steak combo with rice and beans. All of the meats were cooked well and tasty. The beans were good. The rice was tasteless. They only included 2 flour tortilla's and was a bit lacking on the guac and sour cream. My Wife and daughter both had a Chimichanga - which was ok, but not great. It was mostly beans and white cheese, not Cheddar (yellow). To be fair they did not want meat, only beans and cheese, it they obviously had 95% beans and only 5% cheese. The Chips - I thought were great, but that is because they have some sort of Mexican spice dusted on them, which my Wife and daughter did not like. My Granddaughter had the kids Quesadilla - which looked fine. Overall, we were not impressed with the food at all. However, due to the total lack of service, we are not sure we will return, unless we have 2-3 hours to kill.

Yelp
We used to get hit or miss service here, but the last couple visits have been excellent. The food is always good and it's kind of a little local secret restaurant. Sorry if I blew it guys!

Jeremy A.

Yelp
We were not excepting much out of this place. Turned out to be really good. The margarita was good as well as the food. Service was great and the views from the patio overlooking the mountains can't be replicated. The only knock I have is the flan. Def would visit again.

Royce H.

Yelp
Our favorite place to go for Sunday morning breakfast! We host our Christmas brunch here every year.
google avatar

Eric R.

Yelp
Took the wife here and its great mexican food, saying a lot coming from a mexican. Great food, good location. Their chorizo scramble with a side of beans its really good. Although they are missing the mexican cheese, some of that cotija and fresco. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves mexican food. I have not seen Rudolfo (Rudy) yet... so i can tell him thank you for the great food.
google avatar

Karina C.

Yelp
My son and I were looking to try something new so I came across this place. The place is big but a bit outdated but no biggy. When I saw the items in the menu I was excited to see some items I would normally see back home (Texas) so that was great to start off with. We finally ordered and the food was good. The pancakes believe it or not was my favorite part as they were fluffy and tasted like homemade. My chiliques were ok, my son like his sandwich so overall it was good but it took forever to bring out our food which is why I knocked it down a start and because the food was good but not great. Still a good place though overall and I may come back just bot my first pick.
google avatar

Casey K.

Yelp
What a delicious Mexican breakfast!! I had the Carne Asada with eggs. The flavor was delicious plus the pick was super tasty. The service was good and friendly. You can tell it's a good relaxing place for the locals with a nice twist on a normal breakfast.
google avatar

Sunnie D.

Yelp
Listed under dog friendly restaurant but they are not- big sign on the patio that says "no pets ". Please remove this establishment under this listing.
google avatar

julie r.

Yelp
Disappointed food wasn't good, it was bland, hash browns over cooked more like mash potatoes. Weird smell on the way in. Our waitress was nice. Daughter had a burger she said it was good but fries were bland.

Lee S.

Yelp
Great breakfast and such reasonable prices. Especially these days when there is so much price-gouging going on. Staff is super friendly and great service!
google avatar

Lynne P.

Yelp
Went for breakfast, large selection of items from Mexican dishes to traditional pancakes. Food and service were great, plus views from the patio are wonderful.
google avatar

Yelp
Rudy's has utilized the covid-19 situation to revitalize their menu. They follow all the required guidelines and have a little fun with the table distancing. Some great additions to the menu include a open faced Green Chilli cheese burger and nachos. The burger and nachos were well presented and had wonderful flavors. We could not finish our order. The team is always friendly and wonderful. They were very accommodating to those that did not have a reservation but placed them on a wait list collecting all the information need. We look forward to going back to try other new items on the menu.
