Always a culinary treat here. The bartenders are top notch so don't miss one of their crafty cocktails. The gumbo with potato salad is dark & perfectly seasoned. The scallops are cooked perfectly and the pick chop is the best in the city. We have yet to be disappointed with anything we tried. Love the charming cottage that has such a cozy warm dining experience.

A place me and my friends frequent often. When I have out of town guests this is always my go to choice. Great service (love the bearded bartender!!) excellent food and the menu changes enough to be surprised on multiple visits. Always recommend!!

The food was fantastic. We ordered oysters, which were lightly fried and resting in a sweet barbecue sauce. Then Parmesan fries to appease our toddler (bring a highchair if you'll need one). My husband ordered steak and potatoes, which he loved, while I ordered lamb with Taziki sauce. I don't normally choose lamb, but this was literally falling off the bone. The fried Funfetti donuts were delicious, but we definitely recommend the deconstructed key lime pie. Worth a try and a return!

The food was good, service was ok. And everything was good until we went to leave. My husband asked Bree if she could take our picture, she sighed and said if it was any other night, she was just too busy! WHAT!? There were 5 tables with 2 people ( this includes me and my husband) at each and two tables with 4 people, REALLY!? Maybe the Chef used to work at Commanders Palace but they sure don’t treat their customers like Commanders Palace does! I won’t be going back! If I could give zero stars that’s what I’d give.

Amazing food in a low-key area. Good cocktails, eclectic menu that changes seasonally and an outdoor courtyard that is perfect when the weather is just right. Bring a date or group of friends and you won't be disappointed.

Rue 127...amazing for lunch, amazing for dinner. Ray is a artist. When the food comes out you sit and stare at it a second not wanting to mess with the display of it all. If I could eat at one place and only one place the rest of my life, Ray would hate me because this would be it. The hanger steak during lunch is my go to but if I'm in the mood for fish, I do the fish which is always cooked to perfection. It's cliche but the mood they set in this place is unique, no other way to describe it. It's small so make sure to book a reservation.

Zasu in New Orleans is a culinary heaven. I love having a woman chef at the helm, especially one as skilled in seafood as Chef Sue Zemanick. This place is perfect for seafood lovers and those who appreciate the creative magic of a chef truly in her element. Our meal spanned the seafood spectrum, and I couldn't help but turn it into a tapas-style tasting experience to try multiple dishes. The blue crab fettuccini was creamy and rich. The snapper was tender and beautifully presented. The hamachi crudo was the favorite, with a subtle horseradish kick that added a fresh, spicy contrast to the fish. Then there were the scallops, seared with a golden crust with a meltingly tender in the center. The gem salad was crisp and refreshing, which I used as a palate cleanser between bites. And the seafood sweet potato soup was pure comfort in a bowl. Ok I'm full now. I'm so glad we ventured out of the city a little to find this spot. Bless you chef. Amazing!

Decent food and cocktails. The restaurant has a cute ambiance, but more importantly, it has soundproofing boards - which can be uncommon in New Orleans because restauranteurs love their classic tin roofs. The highlight for us was the veal marsala, which was a special item on the menu, as well as the Blue Crab Fettucine. I'm giving it a 4 star because the bread service was pretty average, and they charged us $10 for it. The soup sounded better than it tasted. Overall, we had a lovely meal. I do think all the items on average were $5 above the New Orleans average. We'll definitely be back, though!

I decided to treat myself to a "nice" dinner during my work trip to Nola. This was amazingly delicious food! My sweet potato soup came with 2 perfectly fried and seasoned oysters. The fluke special came atop a warm grilled corn salad that tasted like summer on a plate. If I could have gotten away with licking the dishes I would have! Not prohibitively expensive and well priced for the quality of food.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Celebrating our anniversary and they made us feel so special. Beautiful little building hidden behind the vines to help keep the outside noise out. Fresh, light and amazing food, not your typical New Orleans fair. Friendly and knowledge staff, I let the waiter do my wine pairing and he knocked it out of the park! Highly recommend and will be back.

The food was delicious, we enjoyed everything we ordered: octopus, scallops and pork cheek appetizers, red snapper and pirogies. The server was very attentive but could have been more knowledgeable regarding the menu and preparation. Presentation was lacking some but the flavors in the dishes made up for it. Even though I'm being a little overly critical of the subjective points, it was the best food we had while in NOLA.

Great and interesting meal. Started with the pork cheeks and that was probably my favorite dish. The pork was slow cooked but had a nice caramelized crunch to it, along with a good combination of vegetables. Followed with an arugula and hazelnut salad, no complaints. For my main, I had the short rib and it was both tasty and filling. I should not have had dessert but given how nice everything else was, I went for the passion fruit semifreddo and was not disappointed. Very friendly and helpful service, they really seemed to care that I was enjoying the meal.

After reading all the positive reviews online, we were very excited for our reservation, but unfortunately didn't feel the meal lived up to the hype. The restaurant is very small, but well decorated. As mentioned in a few of the other reviews, it is extremely loud once inside. That's great for making the restaurant feel lively, but I wouldn't recommend going expecting to have much of a conversation over dinner. Our waitress disappeared for long stretches of the meal. I'm not sure what she had going on in the back; however, the entire dining room was visible from our table, so it very clearly wasn't other tables keeping her away. When she was available, she was polite enough but certainly not overly friendly. It definitely could have been a bad day, everyone is entitled to those, but it certainly was not the level of service we expected going in. When it came to the food, we started with the scallops which were admittedly delicious, but they unfortunately turned out to be the highlight of the meal. From there we had the braised short rib, which was extremely tender but largely bland, and the salmon, which was also bland with exclusion of the beurre blanc which was far too tangy and over powered the entire dish. All in all, we went in hoping to love it, but in a city with as good of food as New Orleans, you can find far better dining options at half the price.

I came to NoLa very excited to try Chef Zemanick's restaurant, and am less enthused writing my review. The atmosphere is absolutely enchanting - rich blue with giant enveloping artwork, private booths with humming conversation, glowing lights that emerge sculpturesque from the ceiling. The host staff is inviting and lovely, service and management less polished. I started with the Sweet Potato & Goat Cheese Agnolotti. Flavor and texture was superb, with the sweetness perfectly balanced by the tartness of the goat cheese and some crunch added by the walnuts. Pasta was Al dente, however; would recommend halving size of the agnolotti to maintain firmness of texture & concentrating flavors. I chose the Crunchy Green Salad on recommendation and was saddened that so many beautiful ingredients could turn so tasteless - feta providing the only flavor on the plate, was over salted, and greens needing citrus or some acid to contrast. I don't know how the Jerk Braised Pork Cheeks were served up so tough, but at least the flavors were on point. Chocolate Malt Semifreddo was very frozen and mostly marshmallow... I'd pass. Maybe the carrot cake is a better choice! Menu changes up, so the hope is for some impressive new dishes my next time around.

Cute little friend or date night spot in Mid-City! First time here and the food was so flavorful! It is really cute and the people working there were so nice. A little on the pricier side but it's good for a special occasion! Here are some comments on the items: - Mocktails were YUM - Crispy Pork Cheeks a must - Agnolotti was good and filled a lot but would have liked it to have another topping, it was like fried potato chips, didn't really go with the pasta - Beef Short Rib Bourguignon was melt in your mouth soft and it also had tiny pieces of bacon on the side that were amazing - Fish was a special and okay, the gnocchi it came with as a side were good - Chocolate peanut butter ice cream was to die for - Coconut buttercream cake was good but didn't have as much passionfruit as we would have liked

We come to NOLA often and decided to try some places we had not been to before - and Zasu was first on that list. Love the room and the seating was very comfortable. The menu was a good mix of options for vegetarian/pescatarians as well as meat eaters. Staff was welcoming and helpful with questions and service. I had the trout special and we also had the octopus appetizer and salmon entree. Drink choices were special and very satisfying.

Amazing restaurant. Worth the brief cab ride out of French quarter to Mid City neighborhood. The cocktails were creative and delicious. The food was perfect... arugula salad with finely shaved Parmesan, hazelnuts and charred haricot verts, spicy sweetbreads over rice, tuna crisp and trout special with sautéed super fresh vegetables. Service was excellent and atmosphere was stylish. The only thing... portions are in a small side. If you like a big, heavy meal... this is not your place. This place is about exceptional quality not excessive quantity.

In New Orleans to visit my daughter. I keep a list of places I see featured in articles about great restaurants to try. Zasu was tonight's choice for dinner. This is a darling, little converted house in mid-town NOLA. There is outdoor seating as well as a surprisingly large interior dining room. Booths line the left side. With tables, that can be configured to accommodate a couple or a larger group, on the right hand side. The decor is a monochromatic emerald green, that gives a very elegant feel to the room. Service was excellent and friendly. The sommelier was able to direct us to a lovely bottle of Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, that went nicely with our selection of Salmon and Short Rib entrees. Both dishes were delicious! The proteins perfectly prepared and complimented by the accompanying side dishes. The delicate blend of spices perfectly accented the vegetables. Prices here are in the $25-30 per entree range. Soup, salad and appetizers are approximately $12-15. This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food. A very good choice for a special evening out!

We heard a lot about Zasu and wanted to love it. But alas, quite a disappointment. Let's start with the noise factor. This is a relatively small space with a handful of booths, a row of tables for two in the middle, and larger tables on the other side. Even though the restaurant was about 40 percent full, we could hardly hear each other talk. The restaurant chose to seat two tables of 7 each that were a group celebrating something professional. So our entire meal felt like we were in a sports bar rather than an upscale restaurant. Even our server noted she would have to shout at us to describe the specials. The restaurant; obviously is aware of its acoustic problems -- there are sound absorbers (instead of art) on the walls and even the ceiling. My advice: don't book large groups you know are going to be creating a problem your restaurant can't handle. I can't even imagine if the place was full. As for the food, it was solid, but nothing extraordinary. Not a lot of imagination with a menu that's fish-forward. Portions are on the small, fancy side. Everything was well plated. But again, nothing to write home about compared to several other restaurants with similar price points. We were lucky to get a terrific server who saved the night with her charm and attentiveness. Also of note: no employees were people of color that we could see.

Wow. Just wow! I've been wanting to eat at Zasu since it opened but just never got over there. But we were celebrating a friend's birthday and so Zasu was the spot! Cocktails were great (according to my friends) but I just had a single lovely glass of bubbles thanks to my stupid allergies. The 3 of us shared 4 apps including the soup of the day which had sweet potato and poached shrimp and a corn relish, stunning. The green salad was gorgeous and delicious. The tuna tartare was delicious as well but not as stunning as the other two I ate. Plus my friends shared a pork belly with grits app that looked hearty enough to be an entrée. For the main course, I had the pierogis (love to see an actual vegetarian entrée on a menu) which were rich and filling and perfect. My friends had the salmon and the fish special which was tile fish. They both raved. For dessert we had a strawberry tart, coconut cake and a chocolate semifredo. All were delicious. The tart was my favorite with the dough having the perfect amount of salt to off set the sweet strawberries. My friend who swore she didn't like coconut is still raving about that cake 2 weeks later. And the semifredo was perfectly set and was like the yummiest s'mores you've ever eaten. Service was great. Friendly and professional... the perfect New Orleans balance. Everything was spot on. Parking is a half block up in the back of the Gulf Coast Bank (accessed from Iberville St) or on the street. CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!

Outstanding in every way - table . Service , beverages, food, starters, entree, dessert , ambiance. Not "too" pretentious - easy to completely pass by. Quite ghetto , every other block on the way and back to the Parked car. Absolutely epic

I had an absolutely amazing time here! The food and wait safe were superb! Loved the atmosphere here! I celebrated my birthday and they made me feel so special! Having Chef Sue stop by the table made the experience most memorable! Highly recommend it's a must to stop by!

I don't know where to begin.... I go out to eat a lot. I would say more than most people for sure. I also like nice restaurants. I also live walking distance from Zasu. I couldn't believe that I had never been there. I've been wanting to go I think it's hard to get in there last minute and I guess for some reason I just never planned ahead. My spouse was on the waiting list for reservations for Valentine's Day and we were called the day before to be asked if we wanted to take a reservation that cancelled. So we gladly accepted. We first walked into the place, and I was blown away by how nice clean and adorable this place was . It was very hip , sophisticated and cool not trying too hard. The staff was so wonderful and friendly. I felt right at home instantly. Then came the drinks . Expertly made wonderful cocktails. Whoever made the drinks definitely put a lot of thought into it and knew what they were doing. Then came the food . Oh my god. As someone who eats out a lot (as I stated earlier ) and was a former chef, can I tell you how blown away I was by this food? Appetizers were amazing. The presentation was fabulous. The second course we had this soup that was one of the best soups I've ever had and I love soup. I had the lamb for the entrée it was cooked perfectly and the flavor was so fantastic.

Our table started with tuna appetizer and the fish was on point but it was salty. We also had the grilled octopus which I thought was fantastic with lemon added to the sauce. The pork cheek was also fantastic but may have been overcooked. I ordered the Oaxacan old fashioned which I thought was phenomenal. Shout out to the bartender. Definitely recommend. I ordered the beef bourguignon for the main course and it was perfect. The flavor was to die for. The meat was so tender. Also had a nibble of the salmon and definitely glad I took the bourguignon. Overall great vibe in the restaurant. Perfect for a small family dinner or with close friends.

Excellent service, lovely dining room that is on the smallish side but is quite charming. The menu is well planned with a variety of choices without being overwhelming. Started with the Arugula salad, it was fantastic! Ordered the Red Snapper for an entree and will probably order dessert. 5 stars.

An incredible first meal during our trip to New Orleans. We started with the special of red snapper cheeks and shared the short rib. We loved our server and the place was so cute!!! Loved everything about Zasu!

Excellent service and excellent food. A great choice for a nice dinner or a romantic night out. You can ride the streetcar up Canal from the quarter to Carrollton. Allow about 20 minutes. We really enjoyed our dinner. Appetizers: Caramelized Sunchoke & Chevre Agnolotti honeycrisp apple, sage breadcrumbs - AWESOME, don't miss the little heavenly pillows Tuna Crudo crunchy vermicelli, serrano, cilantro, yuzu-soy ponzu - excellent with a spicy kick Entrees: Wild Mushroom & Potato Pierogies caramelized vidalia onion, asparagus, onion creme fraiche - the mushroom pierogies were very good but the caramelized onions overpowered the mushroom flavor Beef Short Rib Bourguignon fingerling potatoes, baby carrots, haricots verts, braised shallot, bacon - excellent and very tender Dessert: Chocolate Malt Semifreddo cookie crumble, hazelnuts, toasted marshmallow - the toasted marshmallow on top of the ice cream was outstanding

This was the best meal I had in New Orleans. Fresh delicious ingredients through three courses. Though this is an upscale restaurant better suited for adults, they were very accommodating of our young kid with the menu. House cocktails were also perfect and a nice complement to the meal. I loved the colors and decor as well. I highly recommend to anyone who likes delicious food.

Charming, intimate place a couple of miles from the French Quarter on the Canal Street streetcar line. Friendly and efficient service. The menu is creative and very well executed. We had octopus and scallop starters, followed by short ribs for me and a trout special for my wife. All delicious, with ample assorted vegetable garnish. Wines by the glass were well matched. For dessert, we shared a rich chocolate almond budino. Two thumbs up.

Wow, wow, wow. One of my neighbors raved about this place and they were very sad that they could not enjoy a meal at Zasu during the pandemic as they were closed for a while. They just reopened their dining room in September and we went there for a dinner one night all together. You might be wondering about their location but I swear you passed by it so many times! I believe they turned what used to be a house into a restaurant and their entrance is so small that it is easy to miss but it is right by Dosan Noodle house in Mid-city. The restaurant is very small and do not quote me but they might be able to squeeze 10 groups at a time, where each group consists of less than 4 people. On the menu, they had 3-5 items per course so it is perfect for those who get overwhelmed by large selections. We shared about 5 appetizers among 7 people - grilled octopus, risotto, tuna tartar and sweet potato gnocchi were all phenomenal. My favorite was the grilled octopus. They used the tiny ones so it was not overwhelmingly huge and chewy - perfect bite size. I ordered that night's special which was a snapper but I swapped the setting with another entrée which was more Asian inspired. I really did appreciate that they accommodated my request and it came out absolutely perfect. Everybody in our table were happy with their entrée selection as well. The real special of that night was the truffle add-on - it was like $25 up charge but they shaved a generous amount! My company definitely enjoyed it. Even though their bar is so tiny, cocktails did not fall short of expectations. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant. Give it a try!

The hubs and I attended the beautiful outdoor wedding of a new friend last night, and as the reception was outdoors and it was a little chilly, we headed out a smidgen early to have dinner indoors. We didn't know if it would be possible to walk in at 9:00 anywhere in the city and get a table, but when we called, the hostess at Zasu was kind enough to fit us in and had a 2 top ready for us upon arrival, We parked across Carrollton and walked the few steps to the front door of this charming little spot. We were customers of Rue 127, so were curious to see what changes had been made to the interior, and there were lots. Their buildout is perfect! More tables without feeling cramped, beautiful lighting, precious booths along the wall that used to be the hallway, and the paint color is gorgeous. Also the vibe is lively and intimate. It's noisy but in such a good way. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their food and the company of their groups. It felt very European. The meat and potatoes of our visit: The service was impeccable. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive, as was every other staff member we encountered. The food was delicious. For appetizers we chose the grilled octopus - so tasty and interesting, and the scallops - also yummy but the portion size was small. Maybe 3 scallops rather than 2. Two scallops for what I think was $16 is just too few. For entrees we chose the short rib which was super tender and served with an excellent potato side, and the chicken which was flavorful and served with a great crisped rice side. I'm so glad we finally made it to Zasu and I'm sure we'll return.

Definitely in my Top 3 restaurants in NOLA. Can't believe it took me so long to find this place?! Very pleasing Decor, amazing service and perfect food! This is a MUST try for all! We had the Halibut and the Pierogis! Scraped our plates clean. Also tried two desserts and both were surprisingly good! The coconut cake and the malt chocolate...they will have to be ordered every time we go. This place is upscale casual, but, you'll feel comfortable erring on the side of looking nice. It's pricey and worth every penny! Excellent!

Fancy vacation dinner. Hospitable Service. Great recommendations for vegetarian and Kosher style pescatarian. Agnolotti And Tuna crudo were perfect. Crunchy green salad was beautiful and tasty. Pierogi and Carmelized onion perfect. Salmon just. Right. Brown sugar tart was surprisingly nuanced. All in All, a great meal.

WOW. Behind the vines. They should have made the gate taller so I don't have to see the Walgreens sign while I sit outside on the deck. Fall weather is the best. The green on the walls is sophisticated, I love it! The butternut squash soup has shrimp and crab meat. Who doesn't like a hot soup on a French shotgun porch in the fall?! Best Friend came and we shared a salad. We laughed because it didn't have lettuce. We licked the plate as we ate the last bite. Crisp greens beans, cucumber, sprouts... it was delightful. Friend has the special - carp. As a vegan I enjoyed the short rib. House Cab will do. All desserts.

My friend and I had an ahmazing dinner at Zasu this week. It has been a long time since I ate somewhere in NOLA where every dish was perfect but that's what we experienced here this week! We started with the Grilled Baby Octopus and the Seared Scallops. They were both fantastic but I would give an edge to the scallops because I am obsessed with crispy rice and the flavor was perfect! For my entree I tried the Seared Snapper which was perfectly cooked and delicious. I also really loved the perogies even though I'm not a huge perogi fan. I would definitely get those another day! For dessert we split the chocolate cake and the pavlova. They were both amazing though I would give a slight edge to the pavlova. The restaurant itself is a beautiful jewel box and the service was wonderful too. It was a little pricey but definitely worth it. This would be perfect for a special birthday/anniversary meal.

I really wanted to love Zasu. I did not. The service was ok and the drinks were fine (which is table stakes in NOLA), but the amount of food served was minimal and the prices were not. I LOVE pierogies, so I decided to order the Wild Mushroom Pierogies. I saw the price for the pierogies was $32 so I assumed that would be a reasonable, entree-sized potion, ie at least six or perhaps eight of the delicious little pillows of goodness. I was shocked when the plate came to the table with JUST THREE pierogies. In other words, each mushroom pierogie costs more than $10. Where did they find these mushrooms... were they growing on unicorn turds? Three normal size pierogies is not an entree portion. And $32 for three mushroom pierogies is ricockulous. I don't recall anything else about the meal... my wife's whatever was fine but I left the restaurant feeling completely ripped off and I definitely will not go back.

You know the feeling you get when you're favorite song comes on the radio or you see an old friend and you reminisce over the good ole days, what about when your favorite team wins the championship game or taking a walk on the beach and getting to watch the sunset? It's a warm fuzzy excited feeling, proud and happy, content and loved. I was so fortunate to experience all of these feelings and emotions from dining at Zasu last night. From the moment we walked up to the adorable establishment to when we were greeted by the warm hostess Trisha and given excellent recommendations by the bartender Tyler, every single piece of our dining puzzle was put together so beautifully and meticulously I know that I will never have another experience as perfect as this one. We had the pleasure of dining outside where the weather could not have been better! A sweet two person table with all of the intimate yet exhilarating vibes. The array of greenery amongst us outside added warm and inviting ambience. To start I ordered the Butterfly, a vodka based cocktail with a light and exciting taste that tickled my tastebuds. For our appetizers we tried Veal Short Ribs, Korean chili glaze and scallion egg fried rice, Beef Carpaccio, pickled celery, blue cheese, grilled bread and a spicy aioli, Citrus Poached Shrimp, hearts of palm radishes, grapefruit and a brown butter vinaigrette. We also tried the Asian Pear and Fried Celery Root salad with toasted hazelnut, basil and Parmesan. For our entrees we chose the Crusted Grouper and the Beef Bevette which I paired with a delectable Argentinian Malbec. What meal would be complete (at least not for my sweet tooth) without not only one dessert but a selection of several?! We had the Coffee Semifreddo, Passion Fruit Creme Brûlée, Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream and Pistachio Pavlova along with two coffees. Each dish was artfully prepared and presented as a one of a kind masterpiece with all of the elements pairing so superbly with one another. All of our senses were piqued and heightened to the fullest with every bite! Amidst all of this, the owner and James Beard Award-winning chef who has also appeared on Top Chef and Top Chef Masters, Sue Zemanick, came and introduced herself to us! Naturally, I was star stroke as she is culinary royalty but she was as down to earth as could be and an absolute joy to be around not to mention a cuisine genius! Leaving Zasu tonight left a spot in my heart that I know will never be filled to the extent it was filled tonight. The bar has been set exponentially high and I will remain forever grateful to have had the pleasure to experience such a divine culinary experience. The warmest of thank you's to Chef Sue, our server Louis, General Manager Chris, Tyler, Trisha and all of the staff at Zasu!!! We can not WAIT to return!

We sat at 1 of the 3 tables outside. They do not have a heat lamp so I would recommend bringing a coat if you're expecting it to be chilly. The Sunchoke and chèvre agnolotti with apple garnish was one of the best bites of the trip. Delicious. The tuna crudo with yuzu soy sauce and chips were fine. As expected. A little spicy. The halibut in miso broth with shimegi mushrooms was very bland. The fish was also quite dry. I was really disappointed with this dish as I had high expectations and didn't even finish it. My companion ordered the special tilefish with a creamier sauce. This fish was definitely juicer than mine but it was also bordering on bland as well. The dessert options were a semifreddo, galette, ice cream, and coconut cake. Nothing really jumped out at us so we passed. Drinks were good. My companion had a Manhattan and sazerac type drink. Overall, one outstanding dish and others were ok or subpar.

I love everything about zasu, the space, drinks, food, and service are all top notch. It's my favorite restaurant to celebrate special occasions, though I wish I could eat here once a week. Everything is consistently delicious. Don't skip dessert!!

The food is absolute perfection. The service staff offered impeccable service. The chef is a James Beard award winner and you can sense that fact by the innate desire to lick your plate. I highly recommend you order each course...it will save you time when you order more food in the middle of your meal. I will be back!

I've ordered from Zasu a few times and it's always good. This might have been the best yet. Ordering is easy online. You schedule your pickup time and they bring it out curbside. Super easy and convenient! The salad was good. It was a salad. Not much more to say. Now for the exciting part. Lobster Pot Pie. It's not your traditional shortcrust pie but more like a lobster "chicken and dumplings". It's amazing. A rich, creamy sauce covering huge junks of lobster meat topped with gruyere drop biscuits. Big seafood flavor. Zasu has an ever changing menu so you never know what's next but you can be sure it will be worth the money and the calories!

Love this place. You cannot go wrong with the tuna app and fish entrees. Halibut is a must!! The strawberry dessert was incredible

Excited for the opening of this restaurant. Arrived for the earlier seating mid-week and the host was friendly and our server was quite knowledgeable. His recommendations for wine and food were spot on. We started with the octopus, veal shirt ribs and agnolotti. The agnolotti was absolutely divine. Octopus was good and perhaps since I'm of Asian descent wasn't as keen on the shirt ribs with a hint of the Korean flavors. It was still tasty, but given the authentic Korean food available to me where I live (City of angels) when I go back I would pass on that dish. Both salads were delicious. The fried and shaved hearts of palm and roasted and raw radishes were both bright, crisp and flavors really on point. The pickled quail egg was a delightful bite. For entrees. The sautéed snapper was cooked to perfection and accompanying white beans had me going back for more. Sautéed Halibut was good, but my preference is snapper to halibut as a fish overall. Personal preference. The wild mushroom and potato perogies were a standout dish and not to be missed. I was SUPER excited for the pot de Creme. One of my all time favorite desserts. For me, it was a bit on the richer side (I prefer mine a bit lighter) but the warm olive and cornmeal cake was surprisingly tastier than I would have thought. Great texture and just the right amount of sweet to round out our meal. Will definitely be back.

Man this place was SO BOMB. I eat at a lot of restaurants of this caliber, a lot. Most of which have been in Austin (where I've lived the past few years) but, I've definitely been around. This was my first experience at a nice dinner here in Nola and man it couldn't have gone better. We were a party of 3 and sat close to the back corner of the dining room. Our server I believe was named Allie, though, I'm not entirely sure on that. Our reservation was for 7:30 on a Monday night. Not gonna lie it was surprisingly dead at that time, but picked up later on in the night. I guess that's just the city? Y'all a bunch of night owls huh. We ordered quite a bit, I'm going to rattle off most of it here; the octopus, fettuccine, pork cheeks, soup (miso butternut squash with shrimp), the Pierogies, the short rib, and the off-menu special for the night which was a halibut dish. Oh yeah and we got all 3 deserts, the tart, the semifreddo, and the Budino. The starters were good, the white anchovy butter, I think that's what it was, on the fettuccine was awesome but I would have liked more on the dish just because it was so good, ended up scooping the bottom of the bowl to get all the last bits. Octopus was great, obviously very spanish but, that's only a good thing, and the pork cheeks were good too. I always like seeing turnips on a menu but, and I've even had turnips on some of the menus of restaurants I've cooked for, they're pretty hard to make a player in a dish. They went a bit unnoticed? Okay on to the soup. Fantastic. The texture was perfect, super smooth but thick enough to have substance if that makes sense. Sometimes they (other places) over blend and make it too thin or even watery in an attempt to smooth it out, or they run it through a chinois/China cap like 80 times and you loose a bit of that goodness along with it. Not this soup, it was perfect. And miso is kinda tough to balance too (obviously not for the pros in the back). Sometimes it's not noticeable enough, yet it can also very easily overpower something. Nah this was amazing though. The service was awesome too, the timing of all the courses were spot on, except the mains came out a touch touch late but that's just because the soup was gone in 30 seconds tops. And the server was there exactly when we needed her while still maintaining a good distance to not feel overattentive, which is all too common when a restaurant is having a slow evening. Ok so for the entree my mother and I both really wanted to order the halibut but felt as though it would be a waste since we likely won't come back to Nola for a very long time, so we wanted to order more variety and just share everything. Halibut was undoubtably a great call. Love me them mushrooms. Braised beef short ribs are braised beef short ribs. I don't want to take any credit away from the chefs but, anyone classically trained knows what's up with that kind of dish. And yeah, it too, was very well done. The pierogies were a last minute decision. Of all the items on their menu, this was the one I thought had the highest chance of being a miss. Dear god was I wrong. The PERFECT level of... crunch? Crisp? That texture was exactly what I would have wanted it to be. And oh my god that preserved lemon creme fraiche?????? That dish was crazy, we were fighting over those damn things. I don't want to write too much on the deserts because I'm a lightweight and the Oaxacan heat and glass of sauv blanc were enough to make anything taste good. Also, once you get into the groove of a really nice dinner with good company and a good general restaurant vibe, that's enough to make anything taste a bit better. I already think maybe this review is a bit too positive lol, not that I have any reason to say that, Zasu is awesome and deserves the praise. Check this place out for sure. Wish we could have seen the rest of their menu. Hamachi crudo is super trendy right now and where I'm from it's on every menu ever so we passed on it or else I would have been interested. Seeing how they did the halibut, and just based on what I've read of this kitchen, I somewhat regret not trying the snapper or the king salmon. And as I always say, salads are for regulars. They have their place, and they're a testament to a kitchens ability to get creative and make something so common, interesting and new (or prove how well they can execute the classics). But again, I'm an out of towner so, I'm aiming for the big hitters. Okay I need to stop typing. Eat here.

Cool space, great food with fantastic flavor and artful presentation, enjoyed by locals

Zasu has been on my list of places to try for quite a while. I was excited when they started doing their to go meals, however the majority contained some component with meat (which I don't eat). I was thrilled when I saw this past week's menu did not! The star of the meal was definitely the local drum wrapped in a banana leaf! I also loved the poached shrimp dish! The instructions were easy to follow and quick! I also want to add in that they are doing curbside delivery and when I arrived they were so fast! Everyone that we interacted with could not have been nicer! I'm already looking forward to future menus (which they do post to Instagram each week)!

Delicious! Short ribs were out of this world. Love the monochromatic interior. Cozy and cool with great service. All the food was good. Probably the best meal we had in New Orleans, highly recommend.

Fantastic!! My boyfriend is a total foodie so when this was his one choice to take me to for dinner on my FIRST dinner in New Orleans ever, even though it was a newer place, this speaks volumes... Upon arriving in our UBER straight from our hotel the exterior was so sweet, romantic even! Love their logo. Interior was so charming, love the decor Appetizers we tried; the seasonal marinated blue crab claws. I literally could've drank the marinade. So delicious. Loved the seared scallops, the dish was flavorful and the textures were delightful! and the baby octopus dish, smokey meets creamy perfection! My Boifran got the Bibb lettuces salad. I was SO jelly and decided I would eat all of the blue cheese off Bc it's keto friendly ha! Bottle of red wine we had was alright, it opened up over the meal and paired nicely with my braised short rib, hold the tatters, extra spinach. It. was. on. Point. My love got the snapper curry dish and it was great. Dessert, passion fruit tiramisu, so tangy and delightful! The best part of all was meeting chef and owner Sue at the end of our meal, what a lovely human being. Highly recommend trying this place out!

Incredibly creative dishes that took advantage of the seafood from the gulf (one of the best red snappers I ever had). Great drinks. Waitress was meh but other servers pitched in and made up for it. Great deserts too!

Good food. Terrible price. The staff is friendly and the interior decor is up to par. Bring a full wallet and leave with an empty stomach.

I actually thought the food quality was very good, but I'm sorry the portion size for the cost was somewhat laughable. I have been all over including fine dining in much more expensive cities such as NY, and I've never had dishes cost this much for the size. The pierogi entree was THREE vegetarian pierogi and some tomatos for $35? I literally left hungry and had to go across the street to Walgreens for protein shakes. I loved the flavor of the food but the cost and portions are out of control. We literally laughed when the main courses were placed down. Also, if a bill for two people to have baby sized appetizers and entrees is going to be $150++ do you think they could maybe put some fresh baked bread on the table?? Literally no bread service?? Could have easily been 5 stars if they would just 1. Add housemade bread service 2. Increase portion sizes by about 30% and 3. Reduce pricing by about 20%

An absolutely delicious and Fantastic spot! I went for my birthday dinner and enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the delightful cocktails.

Omg! What a totally unexpected delight. Cannot wait to return. 1st class from arrival till departure. Only gripe was my reservation time was not honored. It was nearly 30 mins after before we were seated at this restaurant that 'charges' for no shows???
