"India’s western state of Gujarat is known for its focus on vegetarian dishes and sweet and sour flavors. Rupa Vira is one of the few places in the area to serve up a traditional Gujarati thali, which is available for dinner on Fridays through Sundays. It starts with an assortment of appetizers known as farsaan, and the main platter features dishes including sweet, yogurt-based kadhi, puri fried puffed bread, and assorted vegetables. You might need a nap afterwards, but it’s totally worth it." - Aparna Krishnamoorthy

Food was great. Too noisy. And the food was spicy for our taste. The gujarati thali was absolutely amazing and tasty. Strongly recommend the same if you need to taste a variety of vegetarian dishes and sweets. Service was quick, fast and professional. If you are craving for Indian vegetarian this is the go to place for you.

My review is for a take out order. We ordered the Angoori dessert along with an entree item , naan etc. The naan and entree were ok , the entree size was very small for 16$ , the shocker was the dessert. The attached picture is the dessert we got Angoori basoondi, shocking 5 pieces of teeny tiny rasgulla floating in a condensed milk , evaporated milk concoction cost 9.95 $ 🙀 ! How ridiculous does that sound :) … not even a stray piece of cashew or almond or pistachios 😂😂😂 … sorry this price for this poor food isn’t worth it.

I mean 35 bucks for a thali (meal) is just too high. Main course was good but very disappointed by the dessert. Cocktails are unique but very expensive. I was there on valentine day and our overall experience was not good.

Been to this restaurant few times now. Staff is nice and friendly….We were seated quickly. We ordered kadai Paneer, Methi Mutor and Paan drink. Food was served at right temperature, normal spice level and delicious. This is purely vegetarian restaurant and food tastes good. Also they have normal roti(phulkas). Will go back again to try other dishes and snacks. They have a good variety of snacks and street food menu options.

Having heard a lot about this place, was finally there to have early lunch. And was certainly not disappointed. The sitting space is limited, however since I was early there so had plenty of tables to pick from. Service was good and quick. Ordering from QR menu seemed more optimized than some other places. Food got served quickly after ordering. Spice levels were balanced on all dishes. Chili paneer was spicy but full of flavors and the desi restaurent touch. Masala dosa was very well made. Sambar was more west India taste than South India taste, which was very refreahing as well. The vada pav was amazing. The balance of sweet and spicy chutnies made it so enjoyable. Overall good food, balanced spices and right size portions ( not too small, nor too large) Good place for some desi vegetarian food.

Went for dinner. Pan Gulkhand drink was overpriced. I wouldn’t order it again as it seemed like we were drinking liquid form of pan while eating. Spinach mango chat was light on stomach and flavorful. We also ordered chana batura and pav bhaji. Both were mild and good. Pav bhaji was served with a bowl of fried rice/rice pulao - never seen this combo before. Overall satisfied except for the overpriced, and wrongly ordered drink.

This was our first time dining experience at Rupa Vira. We order few drinks, soup, appetizers and thali. Drinks were good but felt slightly overpriced. The soup ordered was tasteful but would have enjoyed more if it was hot given the rainy day. It was almost lukewarm to cold. Hara bara kabob was a slight disappointment in terms of quantity and felt was overpriced. The chinese bhel was spicy, tangy and refreshing for the pallette. The Gujrati and Rajasthani thali was good for one person and good spread of food items. The taste was also pretty close to the authentic food dishes of Gujrat and Rajasthan. Although a good experience, it was slightly on the expensive side.

Decent food and service. Tried a number of dishes, and they were good. If possible, I would recommend having a reservation as they can get busy. The portion sizes are small, and a criticism is that, atleast on the copy of the menu I was given, there were no prices so it was hard to estimate- in the end, its on the more expensive side.

Yelp
Great food and service. If you are missing good home made Gujrati khana, this is the place to go. Love the kadi and undhyo. Gujarati thali is perfect!! Ambiance is okay - could be better.

Yelp
Unfortunately, not the best as I had hoped. The place is clean, has good music, is spacious, and has nice decor. Yes, it's located in an industrial building which is odd but nonetheless, a nice place inside. The food Gujarati Thali had lots of options and was zesty and spicy. I enjoyed it. The Masala dosa though was soggy, and although I would have said something - due to poor service - I never got a chance to. The two people working there at the front were on their phones the whole time. They never once came to check on us, nor did they even ask if we needed anything. When the check came, they didn't inquire about our experience nor asked what we thought. Perhaps this was a slow period and a one-off experience, but honestly, they didn't seem interested. Whomever is hiring, training, and managing employees needs to do a better job.

Yelp
I've been ordering food from this restaurant for many years now. Mostly I get Dabeli for takeout. But last week, I took my relatives from Orlando to dine at this place. And my relatives were a huge fan. This is a vegetarian restaurant and my non-vegetarian relatives loved it. We ordered a bunch of things. - Paani Puri: so good. We ended up getting 3 orders. The water was perfectly spiced and the puris were crispy and great. - Chola Bhatura: this was delicious. So well cooked and seasoned. - Manchow Soup: this was so good. Reminded me of the soups in India. They split this up in 3 small cups for us. - Dabeli: this is always so great. - Paav Bhaji: this was yummy too. A bit on the spicy side for me, but so good. - Falooda: this was a miss. Not a traditional Falooda at all, but more of a milkshake. These guys have another restaurant which is more upscale called Celebration by Rupa Vira, which has vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. But this place is purely vegetarian and great for Indian snacks and some signature dishes. Love it.

Yelp
The food is pretty good but the customer service could use a lot of work. The servers are very nice and great, but for some reason the owner never once came and greeted us, despite always being behind the counter. I found that to be very rude because my family and I at one point, dined at this place 3 times a week. Also, I have never been to an Indian restaurant that is so cheap about giving rice. One time we ordered 4 entrees and if you can believe it, they gave us half of a bowl of rice. When I asked for more rice, they gave me a weird look.

Anubhav B.

Yelp
Plastic in food at this restaurant. Worse of all, they have no remorse, chef was hiding inside and did not step outside...they were discussing inside how this happened. They offered 35% discount which is even more worse...apology means more than 35% discount.. So if you going or have kids better watch out and do not end up in hospital

Yelp
It's not your typical Indian Fare! I must say Rupa Vira takes you on a taste of India, but to a whole new level; traditional Indian food with a modern take. When you enter into the restaurant, you are taken in by the beautiful decor. Now the for the food, we were offered a variety of appetizers 8 in total, all beautifully displayed, and tasty as well. The appetizers were Kurkuri Tikki: a potato cutlet served with an apricot marmalade and red pepper hummus, lotus stem chaat: crispy lotus stem served atop yogurt, onion fresh fruit and yogurt pearls, shrimp pepper fry, Kasundi fish fry, chili cheese toast, chicken tikka, galouti kebab: flaky paratha and pickled onion, and black currant Dani puri. We were then offered 4 entrees, Murgh Tikka Masala: boneless chicken cooked in tomato and onion, dum biryani: rice and vegetables, paneer pudina khaas: cottage cheese cooked in a fresh mint cream sauce, daal Rupa vira: lentils, and an assortment of Naan. There were three desserts offered, phirni with mango panna cotta, gulab jamun trifle, and rashbhari ka ghosla. We were also introduced to an Indian beer, Rupee premium lager. This beer paired exceptionally well with the food, it was smooth, and went so well with the spices of all the food offerings. To sum up our evening, we were so impressed with all the food, the beer, and the beautiful decor! Rupa Vira's Celebration restaurant is a must try, and once you try you'll continue to go to!

Yelp
Really impressive menu and great service. Gonna be honest it was a little sketch getting there - Waze took me to the other side of the warehouse, but keep on circling and you'll eventually find it. Pretty cozy once you're inside - lots of dark colors and dimly lit but it's a vibe with friends. Gonna be honest, I don't remember the full names of some of my dishes but everything was great. The paneer was tender in the green sauce, and I liked how flavorful spicy corn was. We did try this one offering with plenty of sides and dips that I thought was great, but didn't really have enough to use for spreads. I later see another table and every peep there had their own, so maybe mistakes were made LOL. I don't have a good sense of right pricing, but for me it was a little high. 3-4 apps was around $20/person, and I think would've been higher if we got a curry or a carb like their fried rice. But overall I enjoyed it, think it's a good offering if you're in the area.

Yelp
My family has been going to Rupa Vira for many years, and we're usually never disappointed. The food is usually good compared to the other Indian restaurants in the area. However, the prices are also a bit higher. After having many dishes multiple times from here, I can say that everything I've had has tasted great. Unfortunately, sometimes there isn't great consistency. Paneer butter masala one night might be the best thing you've ever had, and the next time it's a 5 out of 10. Whatever few negatives there may be, the positives of this place would have me recommending this place to any of my friends!

Yelp
We tried Rupa Vira's The Signature Indian Cuisine for Friday lunch and were pleasantly surprised with a variety of vegetarian choices! For appetizers, we ordered Gobi Manchurian and Dabeli. Both were tasty and well presented. We had a big group, so we ordered a lot of different dishes - Palak Paneer, Paneer Butter Masala, Phulka Roti, Puri, Undhiyu, Paneer Tikka Masala, along with Butter Naan, Garlic Naan, and a Batura. I must say all the dishes were subpar, but none the less, tasty enough to enjoy. They were all missing some salt and spice, but I guess that's what medium spicy is to most patrons. Entree prices are a bit steep compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to, so take that as a word of caution. I'll have to admit the staff was helpful and attentive to our needs, I guess that could be the highlight of our dining experience. The ambiance is decent, but nothing that spectacular to wow you. In the end, my group left with mixed feelings and that's all that can be said.

Yelp
After countless recommendations and reviews, I was excited to finally try Rupa Vira's The Signature. Although I've tried a lot of their menu at local weddings, this was my first time visiting the restaurant. We ordered the mix pakora and gobi manchurian as appetizers. The portions for both were huge! The mix pakora was average. The veggies were seasoned and cooked well, but there was just a lot of fried batter. The gobi manchurian was absolutely phenomenal. Each bite was super crispy and the sauce was to die for. I couldn't get enough! For the main course we ordered the paneer butter masala and malai kofta with garlic naan. Both were solid but there was nothing special; pretty similar to those of other restaurants. The portions for the two entrees was also smaller than expected. For drinks, we ordered the mango lassi. Although it was yummy, it was too small for the price listed! In regards to food, it seems like Rupa Vira's The Signature kills the appetizers and chat style foods. I plan to come back again and again to eat through the entire app/chat menu!

Yelp
This place always comes in the "top 20 best Indian restaurants in Loudoun " and I am always wondering how that happens. I went here once with a family and we ordered a diverse array of foods such as thali, dosas , and appetizers. Overall we found the food mediocre and extremely overpriced for the quality. The service was pleasant though. Overall there are other restaurants nearby with better bang for your buck

Yelp
This is a vegetarian restaurant. Especially their signature dishes were amazing. The restaurant is small and was busy on a Sunday evening. The staff were friendly but they should improve on their customer service (4/5). We had to wait quite a bit to place our order. But once we placed our order it was quick. Coming to the food: 1. We got both Rajasthani Tali (4/5) and Gujarati Tali (4.5/5). I would get the second one if I go again. 2. Palak Chat (5/5) - Crispy fried palak with a crunchy yogurt mixture at the bottom. Its a must order. Do not hesitate. 3. Dabeli (5/5) - 2 per order and are very good. I would get them again. 4. Gobi Manchurian (5/5) - I was a bit judgemental getting it, but I was wrong. It was very good. I would get it again. 5. Undhiyu (5/5) - I would order it again. It does not have a gravy, but it had a great taste and lots of veggies. 6. Dessers - Falooda (5/5) A must one to order. Srikhand (3.5/5) I know this is a signature dish of Gujarat. But I was not a fan, too sweet and on the heavier side. I would refrain from ordering it. 7. Drinks - Pan Gulkhand (3/5) I got the alcoholic one which was a bit bitter and cleansed my mouth with every sip. Aam Paana (5/5) - Tangy, salty and it was a great drink. Masala Chaas (5/5). I would get the later two. Overall a great vegetarian restaurant.

Yelp
I have been here gazillion amount of times and this time it was a great 5 star experience. My favorite go to place in Ashburn for amazing Gujrati food. And with no disappointment, even this time in these circumstances, the restaurant managed to keep the customers happy. I have been a big fan of their Thali so decided to give it a try. Daaaamn *__* I loved it. Since it was an order through Grubhub, they took care of all the customizations that I had requested. For example, I didn't want to have dessert so had asked for an appetizer replacement which was offered without any haste. The highlight of the dish was Undhiyo - lots of mexied veggies and Methi muthiya. Not just that, the thali was nicely packed. Another recommended dish was Sarson ka saag. This reminds of Punjab, so one can imagine how delicious this dish was.Only downside was it didn't come with Makkai ki roti which would have been like an icing to the cake. Nevertheless, I had a great food experience as ALWAYS *__*

Yelp
This used to be our absolute go to Indian restaurant in the NoVa area, as the taste was authentic and the options were plenty to choose from. Being of Indian origin, the only reason I would like to go and eat Indian food, would be if the taste is exquisite. However, recently, we have had 2 below average experiences with both take out and catering orders. The sad part is we told the people that we are giving them a second chance as the recent takeout order was just average at best. The staff assured us they will personally make sure everything was up to par. We have been sadly disappointed enough, and will not be taking any of our business to this establishment. Hopefully, they can go back to their glory days again!

Gabriella C.

Yelp
This was a long car ride, but totally worth it. This has to be the best Indian food I ever had. Previously, I was not an Indian cuisine loving person. I wasn't a fan of the spices and how spicy Indian food could be. However, this place has changed my mind about Indian food forever. Inside the place was clean, and the service was very good. The waiters seemed very nice. The food came out quickly as well. The butter masala was the best I've ever had, the biryani was also really good. The garlic naan, amazing. I will be returning as soon as I get the chance.

Aditi J.

Yelp
We've been to Rupa Vira specifically on days when we're hungry enough to devour their thali and the quality and taste of the food is consistent and never disappointed. It can be a little greasy at times but still beats Thalis I've had at other places. Highly recommend this place.

Usa G.

Yelp
The Rajasthani thali was okay--churma was way better than the dal baati. Other than this miss, the rest of the food was fairly good.

Yelp
My family and I have been dining at Rupa Vira's The Signature since the restaurant opened years ago. It's our go-to spot for celebrations as a family and we love the food. Today we dined in at the restaurant for a Birthday dinner. All four of us ordered the Gujurati Thali. The food was decent, and the meal was enjoyable up until I found a piece of glass in my mouth. It was very jarring. I believe it came from their mixed vegetable pickle. We immediately called our server over and explained that I had found the glass in my meal. A manager came over and explained that it had likely come from a dishwashing accident and comped our meal. This explanation was extremely unsatisfactory. How does a dishwasher accident splash pieces of glass into the food?! That is so unsafe! I'm an adult and thoroughly chew my food, so I was able to find the glass before I swallowed. Around me at the restaurant today, however, where multiple families with children! What if this incident had gone much worse and a child had actually swallowed the glass? The restaurant can and should do better where food safety is concerned.

Shirish B.

Yelp
I have enjoyed food at this place since it was opened. However, my last 3-4 visits were very disappointing. The taste has dropped few notches and service is very slow. Last week, we ordered Indian masala chai at the end. A cup of chai was $5. Cannot believe it was more than Starbucks coffee. Should have looked at the menu before ordering. So the restaurant has become pricier too.

Shweta S.

Yelp
Went to dine on a Saturday Evenings and the place was pretty full. Luckily we got a table soon and ordered a whole bunch of food - pav bhaji, dabeli, sev Puri, crispy baby corn, chili garlic fried rice and gujrati thali. The dabeli, pav bhaji, sev Puri and crispy baby corn were delicious! The fried rice was underwhelming and dry but the food seemed pretty good. But here's the kicker- These places take pride in being a fine dining Indian cuisine restaurant but show no effort in improving their hospitality. They just slammed all the plates on the table and seemed to be in a rush to get the plates out of way! They could clearly see us still eating but still came rushing to take out the dishes and we had to tell them that hey we're still eating! In a complete contrast, the thali took more than 45mins to arrive. We asked for the status 4 times, and were told it's almost done. We counted 7 thalis that were served to people who came in before me. I am pretty sure they forgot to put the order in the first two times. Most of the food was good but safe to say, I am not going here again.

Ramya R.

Yelp
We were here to try out some authentic Gujarati food after being recommended by some of our Gujarati friends. The ambience was a bit disappointing with no effort put into the decor. The food-we ordered the signature Gujarati thali-the appetizers were good but the main Thali with entree's,khichidi was bland and lacked flavor.Rice was given in a small bowl. Masala Chaas was good. We also ordered Paan milkshake which was the only saving grace for the entire order. The prices are high. Service was slow even though there weren't many tables to attend to. Overall not a great experience. Looking forward to try the weekend lunch buffet which everyone seems to recommend.

Kena M.

Yelp
I cant stop ordering the butter masala, and my carnivorous partner keeps prompting return visits for the thali. There's so much to chose from. Its flavorful and has been steadily wonderful for the 2+ years we've been going back for more. Thank you Rupa Vira's. :) :p

Yelp
This place is one of a kind and at the absolute forefront of evolution of Indian cuisine in the states. Rupa Vira's excel's in offering variety, uniqueness, and fresh taste in a casual atmosphere with the service and presentation of fine dining. Up until a few years ago, Indian cuisine was pretty standard no matter where you went. North Indian comfort food that relied heavily on sauces to make up for lackluster dishes. However, Rupa's is the contrary with dishes ranging across the Indian continent that are as fresh as your family's kitchen. They offer some of the standards, but really the variety and uniqueness of their menu will not leave you wanting for anything else. The location is by close to 1 Loudon, but is an area that has more of a warehouse feel. The inside has ample seating with an open layout and modern decor that's great for a dinner with friends or family. The staff was professional and attentive and kept the table cleared and our glasses filled. Surprisingly they have a modern bar area and a lengthy drink menu. This is truly a can't miss restaurant.

Kamal S.

Yelp
Beware food lacks the taste and soaked in oil. If you any health issue with oil then don't try at all. We almost got sick with this food because of excess oil in it. Revisited this place again after almost 3 years. We ordered Gujarati and Rajasthani thali. Both thali's failed miserably. Food had excess oil and it was not even warm. Puri and paratha's were soaked in oil. All the dishes in the thali had no taste at all. We couldn't even finish half of the thali and started feeling saturated with oil in it. Food made us feel sick after eating it. Don't trust any reviews about this place here and in fb groups. You will regret it and might get sick like us.

Arati S.

Yelp
This review is for their Indo-Chinese offerings which we had catered recently. Rupa Vira used to be our go-to place for good Indian and Indo-Chinese food. After giving plenty of chances to redeem themselves after ordering sub-par take-out food by placing a catering order, we have been completely dissapointed with the quality of their Indian-Chinese dishes. Their chili garlic fried rice was a favorite in our household, and when we placed our recent catering order, we specifically told them that we had been dissapointed with our previous take-out order when we had ordered the same dish. They told us that a manager would personally oversee our order this time and we would have nothing to complain about. Sadly, we were dissapointed once more. Two days ago we ordered 4 shallow trays of food which included their Chinese Bhel, Baby Corn Schezuan, Chili Garlic Fried Rice and a Paneer Chili gravy dish for a birthday party celebration in our home where we were charged close to $200. Every single dish we ordered was simply terrible. Being hardcore foodies, my husband and I do not mind spending money for good food, and when a restaurant is charging top dollar for their food items, you expect that the dishes delivered will be excellent. Not in our case. The food items lacked individual flavor; they all tasted the same! The person who made these dishes probably had NO experience in making Indo-Chinese food. Not only did we feel that our money was wasted, our birthday celebration was ruined. In an area where Indian food options are plenty, I would not recommend ordering Indian-Chinese take-out or catering from Rupa Vira at all (unless something is drastically changed).

Erik S.

Yelp
Very different Indian menu from the usual buffet/tikka masala standards. Staff is very helpful describing dishes. Service is prompt. Pani puri, palak paneer, and really really good carrot halwah. Highly recommend.

Hp G.

Yelp
Flavorful but pricey. Do not rush customers to finish their food just because u have someone else waiting without reservation.

Ketki J.

Yelp
Rupavira Restaurant Ashburn @thesignatureva 1) Rajasthani Thali - Although most dishes were tasty, they were on the greasy/oilier side so I couldn't eat more than a few bites per dish. The thali consisted of paratha, dal baati churma, kachori, gatte ki sabzi, rice, pickle, salad and an assortment of chutneys. 2) Dabeli - Yum! Would reorder.. 3) Chilly Paneer - Unfortunately there was little balance of flavors and tangy was the only flavor we could taste. 4) Masala chai - Refreshing. Worth ordering

Yelp
Had a craving for Dosa on Sunday and didn't feel like driving to Dosa Grill which is located on the Other side of Loudoun County but has great dosa so we decided to try the Signature restaurant in the Ice Rink Restaurant that opened up recently ( so many have changed hands at that same location ) . on entering decor and buffet looked great but we were told no Dosas but to their their sister restaurant a few miles away in Ashburn. Located in a small strip with grocery stores we were surprised to find out it's Been open for 5 years . Smaller than the other , nice decor we were told a 30 minutes wait as they were expecting Group of 20 we were about to give up but put our name on the waiting list and 5 minutes later received a text ( nice system) . Guess the group was a no show . We ordered a la carte and the dosas were served piping hot. Quite good but we have to say that the Dosas at Doa Grill was slightly better and had 5 different sauces which made it uniqueZ Having said that Theo was full service with a great decor full staff to serve and a great looking buffet . Oh and clean rest rooms . For dessert we had faluda drink which was awesome. We will definitely come back maybe to the one closer and bigger and see how it is . Apparently a husband and wife team. We wish them the best of success and maybe this one will be as permanent as can be . And it has guest WiFi which was awesome

Yelp
Went there Mar. 16, 2021. The food was GREAT. The service was GREAT. Whatever else, start with the Lotus Root Chat. It was unparalleled. Prices were about average. House wines are $8 for a decent pour. They also serve some Chinese and some fusion dishes. But I am partial to Indian, and of the dozen of so I have been to in the last several years, this one is BEST. I would say the food is not very spicy- even when I asked them to make it "Indian Spicy," which is usually a cue to max out the spices, it was still mellow. So for the non-Asians, it is very palatable.

Yelp
I'm still salivating over the meal we had here the other night. We got samosas, thali, mango palak chaat, chili baby corn and butter paneer. ORDERING Phenomenal. We ordered over the phone and I asked for the first item to be with yoghurt on the side. When I ordered the Thali (chef's choice), the guy asked if we were vegan (husband is lactose intolerant) and offered to make everything dairy free. He knew the menu perfectly and told me how much dairy was in each item. One nit is that prices have gone up slightly from the menu. About $1-2 per dish. Very reasonable given all they have been through, but just something to be aware. Still a great value. We (a couple) ordered $65 worth of food and had enough for 3 meals! PICKUP Contactless. My husband called when he arrived. They brought the food out and placed it in the car. It was nice and warm 20 minutes later. The mango palak chaat was deconstructed to preserve the crispy spinach. THE FOOD The Thali was the star and a must get. It's chef choice, and honestly I had no idea what I was eating, but it was all amazing and full of flavor. The palak chaat was terrific and gives Rasika a run for its money. Love that it came deconstructed so the spinach stayed crispy. Baby Corn was ok. Definitely interesting and good flavor but a little heavy. Paneer lacked a little flavor, although I did request mild. I blame myself for this one and would try it again without any modification requests.

Yelp
Very good food. We tried Gujrati Thali. But service was bad. The receptionist at front was rude.

Vijay S.

Yelp
I was at this place with family and friends and I tried samosa chat , chole bhature , Sichuan fried rice ,kadhi pakora . Overall the taste was not that much at par it was so so .What I don't like is the attitude of servers no one was in the mood to serve each time you need to call them and request to provide plates ,water etc. Also the person standing at the register had the highest attitude not giving a damn look to our call . Not going back again lots better places in the surroundings .

Yelp
Truly a hidden gem! Tucked inside a warehouse lies one of the best indian restaurants that I've been to. In addition to homemade indian food that's packed with real flavor from spices, the owner is very hospitable and sweet. After ordering 8 dishes, each one of them was delicious without butter, cream, oil, or salt. I was considering using Rupa for my wedding (preferred vendor of Morais Vineyard) and the owner pleasantly gave me a couple of free tastings along with some delicious drinks. I ordered Choola, Pa Bhaji, Dosa Bhaji, Vegetable Korma, Palak Paneer, Malai Kofta, Garlic Naan, Naan, and Guava Punch. The food was AMAZING!! The BEST part of the meal was the paan milkshake, it was divine! The only dish I didn't enjoy that much was Pa Bhaji, I probably wouldn't get it again. But I would order all of the other dishes. The bill for 8 Dishes + Drink came out to only $65 with tax. Overall, I highly recommend going to Rupa Vira's for lunch/dinner. The food satisfies my ravenous craving for indian food with impeccable service. Can't wait to be back! As a tip, the restaurant is located in ASHBURN, NOT FAIRFAX. I made the mistake of typing in Rupa Vira catering and drove to the owner's house! Turned around and drove to Ashburn - totally worth the trip!

Yelp
Stay away from this restaurant. Used to be our place, we would drive 50 miles each way. Prices gone up Quality way down Quantity almost half Service sucks A very greedy owners!

Yelp
Our all time favorite restaurant and one of the safest options as we have visited it multiple times. The quality of the food is superb, Dhabeli being one of our favorite dishes. Recently we tried Rajasthani thali and every items on this thali were amazing in taste. My husband loves pav bhaji from there and many more items. If you are a fan of Indian snacks or craving them or of course if you are a vegetarian then I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
This restaurant is usually great. My friends and I drive from about an hour away because the food is so good. The service is really spotty though. Tonight the staff seemed annoyed because there were 10 of us, even though we called ahead. The meal portions were noticeably less than when we visited 2 weeks ago (with only 4 people). I order Chinese bhel every time because it is my favorite. Tonight there were a ton of tiny pieces of cucumber in it, which is does not come with. I told the server and he was rude about it. I would have never ordered it if it was supposed to come with cucumber because I hate cucumber. He said he would tell the chef despite telling me that I was wrong and he offered nothing else. We buy a huge meal every time we come and order takeout to eat the next day. We may reconsider the drive next time.

Yelp
This is for the takeouts I have had recently. Delicious food, very authentic Indian flavors and spices. One time I got chilli garlic Hakka noodles , super amazing! Exactly like I used to have back in India. 2 days back I had a takeout of dabeli and pao bhaji. Dabeli was excellent, so yummy , fresh and perfectly done. The chutneys with it were awesome too. Pao bhaji comes with pulao. Nice one, but could do better. Overall, a very nice experience indeed!

I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I ate good Gujarati food after a long time. Awesome guys.. keep it up!!!

Yelp
This restaurant has by far the best vegetarian indian Food! .... starting from the paneer, to the daal, to the different kinds of breads. The dosas and idlis were Really The best ive ever Had! We had heard great things about the food here but after coming to Virginia we ended up eating food from here everyday. The service was fantastic as well. The cleanliness of the restaurant is highly commendable too.

Yelp
The food was tasty, but nothing standout - neither in taste nor presention. I was rather disappointed in the service though. It wasn't unkind or rude, but it was absent. We waited for 10 - 15 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant before we had to flag someone down to take our order. This process of having to flag wait staff down repeated itself each time we needed something. Overall, I won't avoid the restaurant, but I won't go out of my way to come again. It was a so-so experience.

Yelp
We only had the thalis but they were both great. The Gujarati Thali especially is a full feast and worth every cent.

Yelp
Loved the thali carry out option for covid-times . Its a neat idea ! Dabeli and masala paav will be my all time fav. Kachori is just average .. looked like pani puris so was a bit disappointed. Yet to try other dishes but thali being my weakness I get sucked into ordering thali .

Yelp
I have been going to this restaurant ever since it opened up. Initially there was no problem with the quality of the food and service. During pandemic their food quality has gone real bad and portions have become very small esp thali. Thali prices have gone up and quality of food in thali is awful. Their undhiyu is frozen vegetables and I asked for substitute they didn't do it. However, earlier when we complained about the food the owners listened and improved. Recently I have become fond of their gobi and allo parathas I usually order their paratha for the breakfast earlier their paratha size were made on tava and they were big , thin and stuffed very well compare to any other place. This time we ordered allo ans gobi both paratha requested with onion and make it spicy they added onion but not spicy also, now they make it on Tandoor, when I opened the box both the paratha were burned I assume the "tandoori effect" but as I begin to eat it was uncooked felt like I was reading a dough. So I called the restaurant I was routed twice and finally I spoke to someone he didn't even acknowledged that it could be uncooked or a mistake he kept on saying we have always cooked in tandoor and I know very well they haven't been as I am a regular customer for the parathas . I don't care about getting another one not that he apologized or mentioned to re-order. He kept on saying that's how we do it I talked to the chef not acceptable. I asked him to show him via FaceTime or something he refused I even asked if I could bring it back to you and show you only thikh he could say oh we can make an another one for you but didn't acknowledge or say anything about the food quality. Uncooked food esp Dough can make one sick! I couldn't even eat the parathas and ended up throwing the food! Waste of time money and energy I requested to speak with the owner apparently he said he is busy very unprofessional staff! Not ordering food from them anymore. I have been very loyal customer tot them since the day they opened and it's their loss they lost us!

Yelp
This is officially my second favorite Indian place! As someone who recently went vegan/vegetarian, I appreciate that their menu is entirely vegetarian. The flavor is incredible! It tastes like home cooked food. Flavor is balanced between the ingredients and heat/spice. Very pleasant meal. I am 100% coming back! We had vegetable pakoras which came in potato, onion, and chili pepper variety. All unique and tasty. Well seasoned and good heat. We also had palak paneer (my favorite) and it was AMAZING and fresh! The dal tadka had great texture - not too soupy and you could actually distinguish the lentils and other veggies. Lastly the baingan bharta was incredible! Good spice, complex flavor, great texture. Overall, not a single complaint! Loved it!!!! Check it out! Don't let the corporate office location fool you!

Yelp
We have been going to this restaurant for a while now and they do have decent food. But, they could use some lessons on being hospitable given that they are in the hospitality industry. We were asked to leave in the middle of eating being there just for about an hour. The reason given by the owner was that it was peak time and the longer we sat there the less money he would make since he needs a quick turnaround. We were 3 women that ordered two Thalis which he commented on as well. Inviting someone to your restaurant should be like inviting someone to your home. Everything should not be about the bottom line.

Yelp
I am not sure how this place got 3+ rating. We went at 1:44 pm and the buffet looked like totally empty and the trays were dried up. The food looked like needed to be refilled. I sat down and finally decided to order dosa whereas my friend said he will grab buffet. To his enjoyment turned into disappointment and to top up further the service was super poor and it seemed the way waiter was treating us was like doing favor. Sosa came out and it was horrible masala inside. My friend end few bites and decided he does not want to eat. Well we paid the bill and left. Never will I ever in life will end up st this place. Horrible and don't ever go there.

Yelp
Let me start with the positives: -The place was clean, and had a nice decor - something thats a luxury for Indian places these days. -Customer services was excellent and both the waiter and greeter checked in with us multiple times to ensure our food had arrived, was okay, and we had everything we needed -This is probably the only place in DC which has Indian street food (chaat), gujarathi food, and is pure vegetarian - something sorely missing and much needed in DC -The pan milkshake was fantastic! The dahi puri was delicious as well. The chinese and plain dosas with sambar were very good. Now on to the negatives: -While most of the dishes had promise and looked attractive, they had some taste issues. The Vada pav we ordered was not completely cooked, and you could taste the raw batter. That said, they offered to replace it when we mentioned it to them, which Indian places rarely do. The dabeli tasted good but was cold inside, as was the bread, which tells you maybe that they didn't make it fresh. The chinese bhel was decent but very little bhel to lettuce ratio :) and it could have been a little sweeter. -Also they brought all the items at once instead of phasing appetizers and main course which resulted in our food getting cold by the time we got to it. -Finally, the waiter had no clue what most of the dishes were or had in them. He meant well and was nice but every question we asked him he had to go ask the greeter/maitre'd to go find out what was in the dish. Overall, the place has a lot of potential and a huge differentiator as the only gujarathi/chaat place in town. I hope the owners take the feedback above and work to improve these things as it could really be a big hit in the DC area.

Yelp
Not hugely impressed with my Gujarati thali, my papad was soggy, undiyo didn't taste fresh, didn't enjoy the dal with sev on top. I only really enjoyed the rice and kadhi. It's a shame.

Yelp
Plenty of good reviews however . The food didn't live up-to the mark , the chilli paneer was frozen/ flash fried and put into the tomato ketchup sauce . The Hakka noodles were swimming in oil and somewhat passable and veg biryani was not restaurant quality . The portions size was smaller than the Michelin star restaurants and shockingly small for dinner portions . Placing it on the avoid list and wondering if some of the reviews here are written by the friends and family :)
