Cafe for kosher Jewish comfort fare (including smoked fish & bagels) by a legendary purveyor.
"Delivery and takeout available - call or order through their website" - Hannah Albertine, Nikko Duren, Bryan Kim, Arden Shore, Matt Tervooren
"For smoked fish platters on the UES: This restaurant location of the Lower East Side appetizing shop offers all of the Russ & Daughters hits, including smoked fish platters, knishes, and egg creams. The restaurant is very kid friendly and kosher." - Eater Staff
"If you want a sit-down bagel experience near the park, go to Russ & Daughters in the bottom of the Jewish Museum on 92nd Street. This location doesn’t get quite as crowded as their LES places, and it’s directly across from the park at 92nd Street. Another option is to order your bagel and eggs at their counter and take it back into the park to enjoy." - Hannah Albertine
"While it would probably be worth waiting in line at Russ & Daughters’ shop on Houston and transporting everything uptown for a bagel and lox feast, you could save a couple hours by popping into their lesser-known location in the basement of the Jewish Museum just off the park on the UES. Just know you can’t do takeout or walk in for a meal on Saturdays (when it’s prepaid- and reservation-only due to Shabbat), and they’re closed on Wednesdays." - Matt Tervooren
"The fact that there’s a Russ & Daughters here is possibly the best-kept secret on the Upper East Side. It’s both a full-service restaurant and a takeout operation, and it’s buried in the basement of The Jewish Museum on 92nd Street and 5th Avenue. It isn’t the most accessible (you have to go through a metal detector at the museum, then hop in an elevator or take the stairs), but it still improves the quality of life on the Upper East Side. Stop by on a Sunday morning and get a bagel with some best smoked salmon in the city." - Bryan Kim
