Russell's Cafe & Bakery

What a fantastic place. Stopped here for lunch with my girlfriend. We shared the pulled pork sandwich and the turkey sandwich with a side of chips and a pasta salad. Everything was fantastic. The chips are delicious and super healthy. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean and stylish. You should check it out!

My wife and I had lunch at Russell’s yesterday. I had the club with pasta saladand my wife had the pork tenderloin sandwich with chips. Both sandwiches were $13.50. No complaints on the pasta salad or chips. Both sandwiches tasted fine but were short on meat - seriously short. The club had one slice of turkey and one slice of ham on it! Really! We sat in one of the booths and the seat on one side is covered with tape. Not exactly what I’d expect to find in a nice lunch spot. Our advice, consider someplace else if you want a hardy sandwich.

I had dinner here this week and was thrilled to discover that they make a terrific Carrot Cake. The sandwich and cheesecake were very good as well. The last behind the counter was helpful and answered all my questions about their deserts. I will be back for more carrot cake.

Mother/Daughter lunch day was amazing thanks to this place. We've never been before. The food...so fresh and delicious! The coffee was just as good, along with the service...Very friendly! We got some deserts to take home, and those were equally awesome! Can't wait to go back! *Would love to see each dessert with a tag saying what it is.

Awesome sandwiches, delectable, decadent desserts, great service, and friendly, helpful staff! You can't go wrong! Make sure you try the Lemon Gooey Butter dessert, which is a unique upgrade to that classic St. Louis invention. Unusual and delicious!

The folks working were so helpful and kind. I had the Southwest wrap. It was delicious. Personally, I could have used more of the spicy mayo or some sour cream to go with, but it was good. The pastries and sweets looked fantastic, I can't wait to return soon and try some of their sandwiches. I have now tried the Turkey Melt, Grilled Roast Beef, and Cuban. All were super tasty.

Russell's has the best chicken Caesar wrap! Big enough for two meals - so I can save room for a slice of cake! Delicious every time - consume locally!

Place is kind of nice to sit and enjoy food. The food did take a bit to get to use though. It took over an hour to get our food. Our server was quite slow as well coming to our table. He was nice though. The food is average. However, their portions are very good. I like Bowood by niche much better. If you want some good food and more chill place, I’d go there.

My husband and I stopped in for a lunch date and were not disappointed. He ordered the Russell's Club and I ordered the Grilled Roast Beef and Sharp Cheddar sandwich. We ended up splitting the two and couldn't decide which was better! I love when local spots have billy goat chips, and they made the perfect side to some delicious sandwiches. Obviously you can't go to Russell's and not get dessert, so we shared a turtle cupcake. It was rich and decadent and absolutely delicious. They always have lots of options in their case to satisfy any sweet tooth!

We got here just in time after the craft fair at Rockwood. After we ordered and got seated, the order area filled up. Lots of sandwiches both hot and cold and I opted for a 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad. I would have totally gotten the soup of the day, but they were out. I had total regret we didn't get there earlier to have some. Sausage and white bean sounded so good. For my combo, I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Club and the B.L.A.T. Salad. The portion size for half of each was huge. I was able to cut it in half again and take the rest home. The flavor on each item was a little bland. with so many ingredients with bold flavor I wouldn't have thought that was possible. I will say, I skipped the cheese on both as I always do but maybe that was where the flavor was. Staff was nice and they were efficient but not overly friendly. This lunch was fine, with large portions.

Russell's is SO GOOD! Get here early as there's always a line! The interior of the cafe is super cute, it's counter serve with a chalkboard menu and tons of fresh pastries. I got a vanilla cappuccino - one of the best I've ever had! We shared a giant cinnamon roll for the table - it was delicious and HUGE! They have great breakfast and lunch options, everyone was lovely and it was great service for how busy they were!

You may recognize the name As their goey butter, cakes Are available@your fav grocer. Since my 1st visit, Russell's is one of my fav places to grab a latte. I feel like the food choices are healthier than a lot of my other choices. Lots of options. Salads. Sandwiches. Soup. Seasonal items. Some of their desserts are my favs.

I love that they have outside seating and a huge bakery display that you just have to come back twice for! Breakfast was amazing even though it's mostly sandwiches we were just fine with that. They have a big drink selection, food selection, and atmosphere. It's definitely worth checking out.

Russell's cafe easily lives up to the recommendations we have heard about it. We had a great breakfast here today. The food portions were large while the price was very reasonable. We had the sunrise on sourdough breakfast sandwich that came with a nice bowl of fruit. The Bakery items all look top notch, we're looking forward to the next excuse to stop by to try them or bring back something for the family. We even talked about the menu being that sweet spot between not too much, not too little, and nearly the perfect selection of cafe items, ex: the roast beef sandwich perfectly comes with horseradish like I like it :) The staff was all very friendly, helpful and working hard. The cafe was clean and has a friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed eating outside under the covered patio while it rained. Thanks for a great meal! Looking forward to coming back again.

Russell's is a great place to meet friends for breakfast or lunch. They have wonderful sandwiches. I have three favorites. Their desserts are heavenly. Their chocolate dip peanut butter cookie is the best. Definitely worth a try. The cookie is so big you can treat yourself a few times.

First time trying and it was amazing!!! Definitely recommend if you're in the Fenton area! Russell's had a big selection of sandwiches, I tried the chicken and smoked gouda which was a popular choice. They also had so many cakes and other bakes goods, I plan on trying more in the near future:) As far as service goes, the cashier was very friendly and answered all our questions kindly. Also, our server was very quick to point out something that was wrong with our order and immediately offered a refund and replaced the incorrect item!:) 10/10!!

The food here is just amazing, over the top!!! Headed there now again to see what cakes are available.

First time to Russell's after reading good reviews. Ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and 2 coffees. $35 plus the kiosk where you pay asks for tip with 15,20 or 25% as easy options. I went to custom and gave $3 since I had to get my coffee and everything else I needed on my own. The coffee tank "Russell's blend" was empty so I asked for new jug and they brought one out. The creamer was also empty. I sat down and noticed no one had cleaned the table and looked around and saw other tables that also hadn't been wiped off. I looked at my receipt and the time was 10:41 when I ordered and a food runner delivered my food at 11:07 (26 minutes). I noticed the food runner was also responsible for cleaning tables ( they just take your plates no wipe off ( 4 workers behind counter not busy but I guess wiping tables not their job)I saw people sitting in unwiped tables so I guess they are used to it. Our food was great by the way. Too bad the service wasn't. I wish I could get my tip back.....

Oh no, last meal was great this not so good. Wife's scrambled eggs were cold, edible but not good. My French toast not good at all, no flavor to the toast unless you added the lemon curd, the problem was that the center was tasteless, like bread pudding you need more time to let the egg mixture soak into the toast, or I drown it with my fork a few times, thus my center was white (see picture), thus providing little flavor to the toast. The cappuccino and turtle cappuccino were excellent so 2.5 stars.

We were hiking at Castlewood and wanted a quick lunch. This was an easy choice as I love Russel's on Macklind. The sandwiches and salads were good. The selecting for our kids wasn't great, but they ate fruit and peanut butter and honey sandwiches. The real standouts are the baked goods. We got a giant iced cookie to go they devoured it.

Yum. Tried today for the first time and my waistline is glad it's a 25 min drive away. I went with the pork tenderloin (warm, with thin sliced pork tenderloin, Brie, apricot marmalade). Can speak to the ambience/service as my husband picked up. 5 stars for size of sandwich, ingredient qualit, and flavor combo. 3 starts for low meat quantity and sloppy assembly. Will be back to try more, and hopefully have the chance to dine in!

Today was my birthday and I decided to bring my sons here. I used to go here a lot when I had a job and enjoyed it. The ambience is much larger in setting areas. The menu is written on a chalk board above the order site. The food was the same as before and there is a wide variety of choices. The only issue is that the Chicken Sink Salad had too many Craisins. We also got a small vanilla cupcake and a gooey butter cake. We all thought the cupcake was better than the cake because the purple icing. The cake's bottom was a little hard. The service was fast for the food and took about 15 minutes for the food. All the waiters were nice to us and welcoming.

This place is AMAZING! I can't believe I grew up so close to it and didn't discover it until this past year! I seriously haven't had a single thing here that I didn't like. My favorites are the turtle latte, chicken salad sandwich with chips, and the gooey butter chocolate chip squares. Last time I got an entire gooey butter cake to take home because it's the best one we've ever had! The restaurant itself is very cute and cozy, and everyone is friendly. I like that they drop the food off at your table.

The in-law side of the family brought me here during our visit to St Louis. It's one of those places where you think being in a strip mall it could either be really good or really bad. It was definitely on the really really good side! It was very busy at lunch time on a weekday and you can tell this was very popular with the locals. Just an overall great place I had a lot of good baked goods and also served a really good lunch. After paying, you go to sit down and wait for them to bring you your order. I had a half sandwich and half salad. I don't remember the name of the salad but it had all the good ingredients in it and for a half salad, it was definitely filling! The sandwich too was just stellar and just full of good and fresh ingredients. This is definitely a place for a good meal with local foods from local people! Definitely would return in a heartbeat!

This was the second time I had been there twice in 2 weeks. I had a BLAT. The avocado tasted the way Avacado should. All the salads were very good. The house macaroni salad is excellent. I wish the chicken salad sandwiches had more aioli mayo on it. It was a bit dry. I had cookies for dessert. One of the house special desserts was chocolate with port infused. I thought it was a tad dry. The cookies are excellent. I had oatmeal but there. Are other flavors. There are also many other desserts. I have heard that when you are an adult you can eat what you want for meals. I don't live close I would be there twice a day. It is going to take me a while to make through the menu x. My friends that i took to Russell s liked it greatly. I look forward to the Fall Menu.

The day I went here the espresso machine was down. I was a little bummed because I was looking forward to an iced latte. The barista recommended I take a cup with ice and the turtle syrup, pour some drip coffee in with a splash of half & half. I took her up on that and I'm so glad I did because that honestly was probably better than the iced latte would have been! I also got a breakfast sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything I had was delicious and the employees there were so incredibly sweet! There was plenty of seating, I was able to tuck into a corner table and get a lot of work done. There's also a lot of outdoor seating, which is perfect if the weather is nice! This is one of my favorite places in the area!

LOVE THIS PLACE!! Incredible sandwiches and desserts. I'm here all the time. Great service, atmosphere, and fairly priced. highly recommend.

The Baker is on point from cakes to pastries! Lunch was power flavors in the mouth!! I would highly recommend breakfast and lunch!!

My initial visit to Russell's was a delightful experience! The place exudes a wonderful ambiance, is impeccably clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Their display of delectable baked goods had me spoiled for choice. I opted for the bear claw, which was a true treat. I also indulged in their grilled Gouda chicken sandwich, which was served with a side of delicious chips; although I had the option of pasta salad, I went with the chips. The temptation to take home some of their delectable offerings was too much to resist, so I ended up with two boxes filled with a variety of delectable items, including six different types of cookies. My experience at Russell's has left me with a strong desire to return, especially to sample their tantalizing cakes. It's a place I'm definitely looking forward to revisiting.

The only thing wrong with this place is the location. I hope the people of Fenton LOVE Russell's because I would love it if they would me closer to me. This was my second visit and I loved everything both times. I did not indulge in any of the sweet treats, but I really wanted to. I did order a 1/2 and 1/2, the market salad was the perfect toppings to lettuce ratio, and they have a ton of salad options if that is what you are in the mood for. I also ordered a grilled wild mushroom sandwich, the cheese was melty and delightful and exactly what I needed it to be. The thing about their menu is, you have so many options! A ton of salads, then a bunch of sandwiches and even several grilled sandwiches. An excellent lunch option!

Always great food, good coffee, and a cozy environment. Their bacon is so good (no skimping)! Their service is top notch too. I've been here a dozen times and have never felt rushed which used to be no big deal, but is a HUGE PLUS nowadays. Russel's Cafe is one of our favorites by far.

Wonderful staff. Great food. Fantastic cherry turnover! I enjoyed a lunch here today... WOW - so good! You can order half and half of anything on the menu. A coworker enjoyed half n half: - pear and bleu cheese salad - roasted chicken and Gouda grilled sandwich I enjoyed half n half: - farmer's stand salad - Asian chicken wrap Really good... I eat salads but don't seek them out AND I would get the farmer's stand again... it's that good. And I'll try the full menu of sandwiches on future visits... all look so good. And the pastries... one of each, please... they all lol and smell so good... and... will power... one per visit ;) and You can always order a few to take home! I'll be back! And we also split a cherry turnover with crumbles on top - something I have not had before and WILL have again... cherries just right (not connected with any cheese!) and flaky crust and crumbles with a tough of cinnamon and sugar... WOW

Fresh and Yummy! Real delicious food, exceptional desserts, friendly & knowledgeable staff, clean and spacious dining areas - a perfect gathering area or date spot! I could not say enough good things about this cute cafe & bakery restaurant! I've spent 2 days here working remotely and the atmosphere was as expected. It gets quite crowded around lunch time (11-2pm) but no one has trouble finding seats and with the nice weather now, outdoor seatings are perfect if you also wants a quieter lunch. Food comes out freshly made and generous portion. I order 1/2 & 1/2 sandwiches and lasted 2 meals! The grilled sandwiches, the breads were a bit too hard for my preference but still very delicious. I've tried Pigs in the Orchard, Cuban Grill, Grilled chicken & smoked Gouda, Russell's club and their broccoli cauliflower soup - all very good. Their gooey butter cakes are also exceptional. my personal favorite is chocolate chip - crunchy top shell, gooey in the middle and a nice crunch crust - goes well with a cup of hot coffee or cold brew! Yum! When dining in, you'd order and pay at the front, self seat, food is brought to your table, and there's always a staff walking around to clean your finished board and take away your plates. The flowers were a nice add to the atmosphere. I'd love to come back and support this small business (ok, their butter cake is the real reason lol) when I'm in the area!

Service was wonderful. Food was wonderful. They are owned by the same Russels in the city, which is always been an incredible experience. My only complaint was that their gooey butter cake that I bought was close to $20 which I thought was crazy high.

The place was packed at 9am on a Saturday but the employees were working hard. I ordered a breakfast sandwich named Sunrise that includes bacon, egg, sharp cheddar, & sourdough. I included a bearclaw and wildberry turnover. I washed it down with a turtle latte. By far an incredible drink.

We ordered sandwiches for carry out on a December Saturday. Outstanding! My husband had the S.S.P. (Smelly, Sticky Pig) which has bacon, blue cheese and honey. He loved it, I had a bite and was jealous. Be warned, that blue cheese is very prominent, so if you were looking for just a hint of it, this is not your sandwich. I really enjoyed my grilled roast beef with caramelized onion and sharp white cheddar. We are only docking a star for the red velvet cupcake my hubby added in for my birthday. It was nice, soft cake, but the tower of frosting on it was hard and completely out of balance/excessively sweet. Otherwise, we love Russell's and encourage you to check it out. Parking and seating can be tight (thus our choice to bring it home), but service comes with a smile.

Finally got to try this place. Food so good and fresh. Love the Chopped Salad.Try It ! My husband loves the sandwiches but also they have a lemon Blueberry Cheeesecake. Awesome!

worst customer service ever trying to order a large bakery order for the holiday The ignorant manager in Fenton just told me " maybe I should go somewhere else" since he can't seem to explain their bakery policy never have I ever been turned away from dropping $400 order somewhere thanks jerk manager- I'm sure another bakery would be happy to help

I enjoyed Russell's! It was a a quick lunch spot and I enjoyed that they had a pick two option! Mac n cheese was pretty good and their veggie wrap was good as well. Definitely a good option for lunch if in the area!

They are quickly and friendly wish fresh coffee and great small bites! Our favorite quick stop for goodies.

I consistently use Russell's when catering corporate meetings and I'm actually embarrassed to say I've never stepped foot inside one of their locations. They used to present their box lunches and nice acrylic boxes but they have gone a little green and now send them in individual brown bags. It's not ideal for a board meeting, because it makes a lot of noise with all the bag rustling and unwrapping of sandwiches. These are things you have to think of one catering. LOL! BoxLunch is also used to include a cookie and now you have to order them separate and you definitely will want to order some because they are giant cookies and very delicious. my favorite Russell's sandwich is the Russell's club followed by the roast beef sandwich and chicken salad sandwich. The farmers market salad is also pretty good. They forgot my Caesar salad with my last order, but luckily I ordered an extra salad and an extra two sandwiches just in case, so it turned out OK. I really want to try their breakfast so I will plan on stopping by location soon. All the breakfast photos on yelp look incredibly good'

Based on the food alone, FIVE star! Buuuuuut, they were out of champagne, so no Mimosa for ME. Then ordered a cold brew with pumpkin flavor, but they were out of pumpkin flavor. Changed the flavor and only got a partial cold brew cause they ran out of cold brew by pouring mine. Fail on the beverage part of the meal! That and the fact that as they walked out of the kitchen with to go orders, they yelled out the person's name, even though we were sitting right there, made for a less pleasant dining experience. The food though was GREAT! That bacon? Is TO DIE FOR!!!

Soups and sandwiches address on point! Coffee is amazing! Desserts are so delicious! I have been here multiple times and every time it's so good! I have also ordered a cake ahead of time and pick up was smooth and dessert was delicious! Consistently good food and service.

Can I say the word bomb on here? Ima gonna just do it. This place is the bomb! I had the pork tenderloin sandwich (apricot chutney, Brie, and a perfectly made pork tenderloin. Excellent! I also had a piece (shared) of their famous Gooey Butter Cake, a St. Louis fav! I believe I can feel my insulin kicking in... the best GBC I've ever had! The people here are fantastic and very nice and the line moves fast. The cafe atmosphere is cozy and welcoming for all! A great place for lunch and to meet friends!

Great sandwich and soup lunch combo. The roast beef is delicious. Grilled beef was also great. Cherry tart was flakey and the filling was yummy. Friendly service from everyone. Busy at lunchtime but still easy to find seating in the second dining area. Really enjoyed the hospitality from all the staff.

Excellent sandwiches and Devine pastry. The chips are tge best? Super moist carrot cake and premium cinnamon in the cinnamon roll

For my dad's 65th birthday, my family decided to order a cake from Russell's. They have a good selection of custom order cakes to choose from. I have never ordered an entire cake from them before, but since I have had some slices of their other cakes and gooey butter cake (which Russell's is my favorite gooey butter cake in St. Louis) I knew this cake was going to be good. Everyone at the birthday celebration loved it! It was moist and the caramelly, coconut frosting was rich and creamy. Would definitely recommend Russell's for anyone looking for a cake for any special occasion or just a treat from their bakery case.

I love visiting Russell's! Pre-pandemic I used to visit often and I'd meet up with friends for brunch. I would visit with my husband for dinner dates and I'd sometimes just pick up desserts on the weekend. They offer so many delicious sandwich and salad options and I usually choose half and half since I can't make a decision on any 1 item. They have great brunch items and a welcoming environment to hang out in. I remember going here for brunch last year with some work friends and since I have a GF co-worker (and friend), they were even able to provide some GF options for her which is a plus! Typically you would go in, order at the counter, find a seat and then your food would be brought out to you. They have a small-ish kitchen so if it's usy it can take some time for your order, but never longer than 15-20 minutes in a busy night. I especially love ordering desserts (i.e. their coconut cake is the best) and while I am always happy to share with my dining partner(s), I prefer to eat my own and yes, I can eat the whole slice of cake by myself! I do think it's meant to be shared since it is a large slice, but whatever, I am not ashamed when I eat the whole thing. Try their gooey butter cake (they have a lemon flavor now) or try their cookies or brownies; whatever you try, you will enjoy. Most recently, I arrived on a Friday afternoon about 30 minutes prior to closing and ordered at the counter. I explained that I wanted to bring my order home and I didn't want to have the hot sandwiches get soggy. The girl at the counter assured me that they would pack all the sandwich items separately so that we could assemble at home! This was perfect. I ordered half a chicken sandwich and half farmer's salad for me and I ordered their BBQ sandwich for my hubby with a side of the pasta salad (get the pasta salad, it's so good)! I also ordered a slice of the lemon gooey butter cake and a chocolate chip cookie. Once I paid I sat down at a table and waited for the food to be brought over. After about 10 minutes, one of the cooks brought my order over and was so friendly when he handed me the bag. Such great customer service here! If you can't tell, I love this place and I hope you visit and love it too!

such a great cafe!! love all the sweet options because i have a big sweet tooth. the staff was all very nice & service was quick!! plenty of space and lots of tables to accommodate your party's size. i also really liked how the menu was handwritten on a big chalkboard!!

Russell's has the best pastries and desserts! Everyone is always kind and helpful. I have taken cookies, muffins, cheesecake, cupcakes, etc. to multiple events and have gotten "rave" reviews every time.

The service was slow and unfriendly, the order came out wrong and the food was mid at best. The coffee was okay but nothing special and the price was outrageous for the quality and type of food.
