I went on a late Saturday evening. This place gets popular during the weekends for dinner, so I was only able to make a reservation using Resy at 8:30pm. When I arrived, the atmosphere looked upscale and inviting with a person playing some light rock and jazz music. It did take a minute or two to get acknowledged, but I did get seated immediately afterwards at a nice small table. My server came afterwards and I asked for a suggested drink. She mentioned the name of the drink, but I forgot. She told me it was an old fashioned that tasted like banana fosters (13 dollars), which had me sold. When it arrived, it did taste sweeter than an old fashioned, but I didn't recall tasting any banana flavor. I also noticed that there was cinnamon instead of a torched banana that I was expecting. When I mentioned it, she apologized as they ran out, but she said she would check again. A minute later, she came with one, but then I found it was actually a plantain. It was still a very good and sweet drink, and I did feel buzzed afterwards. For my entree, I wanted to try the catch of the day BLT (18 dollars). The fish was kind of a snapper, and I was told it would be moist. When it came, it was indeed a moist and flavorful fish, which I believe was baked. There was a nice portion that some did fall off when eating. There were also 2 nice strips of bacon, lettuce, and tomato. The lemon caper aioli sauce was just the right amount to provide a nice zesty flavor. The bread was soft and many were falling apart, so I enjoyed this with a knife and fork. A very nice sandwich indeed. The broccolini that I requested was my included side was nicely charred and had a right amount of garlic kick it a small kick. For dessert, I was happy to find out that the coquito bread pudding (13 dollars), didn't have any raisins. It was supposed to come with ice cream and caramel, but I withheld them. The bread pudding was moist, but I guess it did need the caramel to add flavor, and the ice cream to ease the temperature. However, the rum (which I believe was the coquito) sauce helped make it stay moist and add a bit of flavor. There was plenty, so I took the remainder home in a small container.
My server was very sweet and helped a lot with the menu. She immediately resolved any requests or comments I had. The atmosphere looked a bit upscale, but a bit small. There was a bar that was quite crowded, and the dining area was mostly filled too. There was outdoor seating in the front, but I didn't see anyone there. The musician was playing and singing with piano til about 9, then the piped rock music kicked in afterwards. The conversation can get a bit lively, which I enjoyed.
Rusteak is a great neighborhood restaurant in the ocoee area. They moved just a mile or two away from their old location to an area close to a gated neighborhood. Parking was quite easy as I parked in front. I think they improved as the service has gotten friendlier and more prompted, the food tastier, and the atmosphere more upbeat. It does get quite pricey as I paid about 55 dollars after tips for the drink, sandwich, and bread pudding. However, it was worth the splurge and a great restaurant for the upscale Ocoee area.
