I had a calzone and margherita pizza, both were very good! I recommend trying this place for your pizza needs!

Josh Perkins

Google
Pretty average pizza. Alright attempt at NY style. Not by any means terrible, it’s good, but for the price and quality I would not likely go back. Service was good.

Gary Cooper

Google
Usually love this spot, but they missed the mark with this most recent to go order. Hard pass on the Killer Cheese Dip. Pizza was decent.

Abigail Hludzinski

Google
If you are going for New York style pizza, this ain’t it. 0% flop👎 pizza was average with crunchy crust and no cheese pull. Sauce was a little too sweet for my liking. We got a plain 12” and garlic sticks. The garlic sticks were thin, I would probably get the ones with mozzarella if I go again, although I don’t think I will. Kinda disappointing bc the place had a fun chill vibe, just not the best food for the price.

Google
For as tiny a place as this is, they are excellent at managing crowds! The wait is always minimal and the service impeccable! They have amazing food - hence why it's always packed. I'm a regular - last time I was there I was introducing the place to someone new again. I usually get their calzones - it's what they're famous for. I like their vegetarian option(even though I'm not vegetarian) and their loaded option. They are a fantastic place!

Google
I came here specifically for their veggie calzone, and it was delicious! The veggies were fresh and the texture of the cheese and the crust were amazing. Makes me want to try the pizza. Also the ambience of the restaurant was cute and felt very homey! Definitely a gem in SLC.

Google
The calzones from this place are always perfect. Cooked to order, fast and always fresh. The pizza and wings are the same. This crew cares about quality, customer service and great tasting food. Call ahead for dine in. Always one of my favorite

Rebecca Cunha

Google
Just found out about this local gem. Love the margarita pizza! Good prices, easy ordering, quick pick up, good hours. Small restaurant so would recommend picking up and taking to go. But if you do dine in, there is a cute bar you can sit up at to eat and some booths. Note: they do not deliver. If you are in the area or passing through, call ahead and order, it’s worth it!!! Have also had their calzones (buffalo and the combo) which are great fresh and as leftovers (if there are any).

Yelp
The pizza here is a standard American but hey do something different to give the dough a lighter crisp. Watching them cook it seems to maybe bake it at 2 temps. The dough also seems to have a higher hydration. The cheese dip was great as well! Nice hipster feel.

Cooper K.

Yelp
I like the ambience and look also the food smells and looks amazing and the server is very nice

Yelp
Traveling from out of town and Yelp lead my family to Rusted Sun. Definitely the best pizza experience I've had in recent memory! The pizza was awesome. The restaurant is throwback chill. The staff were attentive and felt like old friends. Did I mention the pizza was awesome?!? We'll likely stop in again before we head home.

Yelp
Always go here when in from out of state. Excellent food & excellent service! The folks here really care about their customers. Thanks for another great dinner!

Yelp
Give me a slice lunch special all day. With a fresh Salad and a drink, for less than $10. In this economy?! Well done. Friendly people. Nice space to sit.

James B.

Yelp
Read all the glowing reviews and decided to give it a try. Best I can say is it was edible but I have had better from Digiorno. We won't be back.
google avatar

Ernie A.

Yelp
I would give it 6 stars if I could! There is no exaggeration here. It is one of my favorite pizzas of all time! It is so fresh, with plenty of cheese, a sweet yet flavorful sauce, and lots of toppings. The service was attentive, even intuitive, to my high soda consumption. I love the local artwork on the walls, showing how they are in tune with the community.

Yelp
25 dollar pizzas that are actually worth it! Delicious and well made. Best of Salt Lake City imho...
google avatar

Yelp
Cute spot for pizza or a calzone. This place is very family friendly and the staff are kind and quick to get your order going. I went with the Caprese calzone. I'm not sure what mozzarella they use but wow, it was so good. I'd recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Chill, mixed tunes. EXCELLENT service (Michelle). BOMB fresh food. Housemade dough, tender chicken, buttery roasted garlic, scrupmtious artichoke hearts, savory mushrooms... Calzone is the way to go...mmmmmmm Cheesecake is just meh, tho.

Yelp
I can't wait to get back to SLC and get another pizza. My favorite pizza place ever. Great ambiace with great art work.
google avatar

Yelp
Very unassuming and charming spot for pizza and calzones. We ordered two of their calzones and were wowed by the size -- one calzone is definitely plenty of food for one person. They have many interesting standard options available plus a build you own option (for both calzones and pizzas). Excited to go back and try their pizzas too as they looked great!
google avatar

Adam F.

Yelp
Close to the office, the only people that know how to cook a calzone right. This is now my go to place.
google avatar

Lib M.

Yelp
This is a top pizza spot for me in SLC. I ordered the combo pizza with no olives or mushrooms. There was no issue customizing my order and the staff was helpful (and didn't get grief about my somewhat picky order). The location is on State street and I don't think they have parking so I parked about a block down off the main road. It's a quiet and small location but was seated right away. You can tell they use quality ingredients. The food tasted fresh and not heavy at all.

Yelp
I don't live too far from here, but hadn't stopped by before. My group wanted to try a few different menu items, so we got calzones so we could try each. I think the best from our group was the chicken pesto. For each of them, I probably should have ordered extra sauce, but that may just be my person preference for the ratio. I generally hold a high standard for pizza and think that these are a reasonable option for the valley. Their menu wasn't too diverse, but they do cover the basics. The shop itself was really small, and if you plan on dining in, there could be a wait. It's definitely worth a try.

Miguel A. M.

Yelp
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the friendly employees. The food was very delicious.

Yelp
Based on a recommendation from friends, we finally visited. We ordered 2 custom calzones to go and were very happy with our choices. The sauce was spot on, the portions were perfect and the taste was exactly what we wanted. The staff was friendly and attentive while we waited. We are both excited to return to try more Rusted Sun items.

Bruce J.

Yelp
Just went for the first time after driving by it for 20 years. I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't overwhelmed either. Good food. Adequate parking. I feel like Price is a little high for a business that should own their building for being there that long. I'll be back before another 20 years passes but maybe for the lunch special. To be fair, I'm a very cheap person.
google avatar

Holly K.

Yelp
We've been here too many times to count over the last 20 years. Best pizza and calzones in Salt Lake. It's been a staple in our life and now our young and adult children love it, too. Anyone from out of town we bring here and they always love it. It's always the small establishment restaurants that are the hidden gems. Thank you, Rusted Sun, for all the dinners through the years!

Sarah Z.

Yelp
I wish I can give 0 star. They told me wait 45 minutes for to go. They totally forgot my order I wait 70 minutes for a pizza. The worst service I have ever had
google avatar

Clint M.

Yelp
Great spot! We'll above average pizza, very friendly staff! Definitely worth making a part of the routine

Sara B.

Yelp
Best pizza place in SLC. I come here after school when I have time and they're always so nice to me and they'll bring balsamic without having to ask. Such a cute place also very welcoming!!
google avatar

Felicia K.

Yelp
Nostalgic, Delicious, Consistent! Great beer selection--something for everyone at home with stellar apps, salads & desserts in addition to the killing list of signature pizzas. For the slc punks who miss the warmth of an establishment that remembers your name & stays the same--Support local, dine in or pick up, you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
Great pizza and good service create an awesome experience! The place is small and easy to overlook, but it's worth it.

G S D.

Yelp
One of the best pizza joints in Utah! I got a cheese and a pepperoni and it changed my life.

Yelp
Hands down one of my favorite pizza places ever! I am absolutely obsessed with this place! It's located right on State Street and is so unassuming. They don't have any flashy signage - and actually just recently re-did their signage, and they also don't have a huge online/social media presence, so they are somewhat of a hidden gem! I was craving pizza this weekend after working on a house project, and realized I hadn't ordered from Rusted Sun in so long! I got their margherita pizza which never disappoints - fresh basil, tomatoes, cheese, and a garlicky crust. Their margherita pizza tastes almost like a cheesy garlic bread. This is one of those pizzas that you savor in its entirety, even the crust! There's never any leftovers when I get Rusted Sun, I always have to eat it all in one sitting. My dad lives out of state and this is one of the first places we come every time he comes to visit! He loves it so much he even got one of their t-shirts that he proudly wears.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite standard American-style pizza place in Salt Lake. It's a solid pie, no frills, no complaints. It's a great take-out pizza (you can order by the slice too - accomodating!), but dining in is an even better experience, hence the five stars. The staff are super friendly, and the inside feels like an old-school pizza diner that you'd see in a 90's commercial. This place must be preserved for the ages.
google avatar

Whitney D.

Yelp
Amazing wood fired pizza. We live not too far from here and decided to check it out a few weeks ago and have already been back! Great service, timely and cozy. We haven't dined in yet but plan to come back to try the calzones! The cheese bread is perfect, I recommend adding the parmesan! BBQ chicken is one of the best I have had in the area
google avatar

Jake M.

Yelp
This place knows how to make pizza and their calzones are in it to win it it has a family feel and the cheese tastes right. The secret is likely also in the sauce. If your pizza place doesn't have salami as an ingredient then you have been missing out for years...Rusted Sun Pizzeria also has the best tasting Canadian bacon I've ever had on a pie (and I usually do not like hamming it up despite what this review purviews)

Yelp
We decided to visit Rusted today, great decision. We came for lunch, the place was full, but we were greeted as soon we came in and they let us know that they were cleaning a table to dine in. We ordered the killer cheese deep as appetizer, wonderful deep cheese, the hubby has the combo pizza and for me the pesto calzone. All food was delicious, the dough on the pizza and calzone really well done. If we could rate 10, we would. Great customer service too.
google avatar

Nate S.

Yelp
Great offering of calzones, place has a lot of charm. Unique flavor compared to the big chains, will be back to try the pizza
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
I find it hard to get a good bbq chicken pizza in salt lake. Rusted Sun finally scratched that itch. Terrific pepperoni pizza as well.

Donald A.

Yelp
Old school excellent NY style pizza. Best in town. Also the garlic bread sticks with sauce are a small garlic mozzarella pizza with their excellent dipping sauce. They're fantastic.
google avatar

Yelp
We love Rusted Sun. We have been getting takeout from there forever! Their pizzas definitely a lot more expensive than other places so it's kind of a treat for us to get it for our family but it's worth it and we really like it.
google avatar

Mikaela M.

Yelp
Tonight was our first experience with Rusted Sun, and my fiancé and I are split on our review! We got a 16 inch combo pizza for a night in. Personally, I'm a huge crust snob and prefer more buttery, crunchy goodness than Rusted Sun offers. Otherwise, I appreciated how generous they were with the toppings and that they offer an option that includes tons of veggies with meat. Often, places seem to offer those separately but not together - the combo was perfect for appeasing the both of us. My fiancé, however, has nothing bad to say about this place and said it was "super tasty". He said the ratio of sauce to cheese to toppings was perfect.

Kris B.

Yelp
Finally a place that doesnt just throw on toppings! these guys actually season their pizzas like real chefs. This is great pizza

Yelp
I've passed by Rusted Sun countless times. It is on State Street in a not-so-great area. It seems to be always busy. Decades later, I finally decided to give it a try and see for myself what this place is all about. It was a Friday night (because nothing goes better together than Friday night and pizza). The reviews mentioned how the restaurant space is limited so I ordered carry-out over the phone just like we used to do it back in the '90s. I stuck to my usual order of pepperoni, mushrooms, and pepperoncini only they didn't have pepperoncini. They kindly offered jalapenos as a substitute, but it's just not the same. We also ordered a Hawaiian with black olives. I was a bit too hungry while ordering which is just as dangerous as grocery shopping on an empty stomach. This time it resulted in a impulse addition of the "Killer Cheese Dip". The gentleman on the phone told me the order would be ready in about 25 mins. We took the first parallel parking spot we could find on State Street noticing the parking lot on the North side of the building during the sort walk to the restaurant. The place was packed, every table in the place was taken and there was a growing line crowding the entry. The man behind the counter acknowledged me almost right away and asked if I had an order to pick up. I arrived a few minutes early, but my order was already done. As I waited to pay, I had a couple minutes to look around. All the pictures online make the place look stuffy, dingy, and dirty. I was surprised to find that to be far from the case. The place was clean. Despite a semi-open kitchen, there was enough circulation to make it not in the least bit stinky or stuffy even with a front house full of breathing customers. One common thing I noticed in the review pictures was a ceiling vent that appeared particularly dingy. It turns out the vent is covered by cellophane which makes it appear a certain way when in reality it is not dusty or dirty at all. Navigating through a crowd that had doubled since I arrived, I made my way to the door with my piping hot boxes. The verdict on the pizza is a solid 9.5/10. The bake was perfect, flop was minimal, and the crust had good crunch. The sauce was great and the toppings were fresh. The Killer Cheese Dip turned out to be an excellent impulse buy. I have thought about it almost nonstop since our order and I'll be back for sure just for that. Two 16" pizzas and an order of Killer Cheese Dip ran us a bill totaling $68 before a generous tip for great, fast carry out service. If you love pizza and have not yet tried the Rusted Sun, I suggest you move it to the top of your list.

Yelp
Haven't had a pizza from this establishment in several years and it was very good back then I just ordered a large Mediterranean pizza and it was excellent. Ingredients were fresh delicious just the right amount not too much cheese perfect crust very pleased with their pizza and I know they've been there for quite a while so that says something.
google avatar

Johanna B.

Yelp
This is a gem hiding in plain sight. Great New York style pizza and fast, friendly service. I had no idea this place served pizza--despite driving past it a thousand times over the years. It wasn't until I moved into the neighborhood that I realized what I'd been missing. It's my go-to pizza joint now. Highly recommend the Mediterranean and Combo Pizza. The Hawaiian is solid and tastes great with added jalapeño. Standard Pepperoni Pizza is great too!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm looking for the best calzone in Utah; I think I may have found it here. A tasty soft fresh golden crusted dough surrounds perfectly melted cheese over flavorful pizza meats and veggies. Friendly employees, park next door at the curry in a hurry.

Yelp
OMG! What is not to love here? We've been eating at the Rusted Sun for 20+ yrs. My favorites are the killer cheese dip, buffalo chicken calzones, blue chicken calzone and I love their garden salad with the homemade blue cheese dressing. We've lived on 2 different states in the last 10 yrs and the Rusted Sun is Just a nice place to come home to. The service is always top notch as well.

Yelp
This place is really really great!! I love their pizza so much, that I have gone out of my way on numerous occasions to order takeout and picked it up. When I moved and had friends help me, I was so thankful for their work, it was an absolute joy for me to share my favorite pizzas with them. My ultimate favorite pizza here is the Round Up (bbq sauce, mozzarella, chicken, bacon, red onion, red pepper, drizzled with buffalo sauce). While my bf's fav is the classic Margherita (olive oil, mozzarella, fresh basil, fresh tomato). I love that they have the option to do half and half pizzas (see pictured)! One of the times when we ordered a takeout pizza, the bottom of the crust had quite a bit of burnt breading residue on it, but it was forgivable because the rest of the pizza was still so good we still finished it. I have not had any other issues since. If you're into interesting and exciting pizza with lots of yummy sauce, Rusted Sun Pizzeria has got you covered. Also, every time they give me a time estimate for when my pizza will be ready, they are either on the dot or a little early! I appreciate their ability to consistently be impeccable with their word.

Yelp
Craving pizza one night and decided to try Rusted Sun and it was SO GOOD!!! Ordering: order over the phone and you can pick up at the store. Took around ~15 minutes between ordering and when the pizza was ready. They are super covid compliant. As we approached the store and the staff saw us, we noticed that they first went to wash their hands before getting our pizza from the oven. We got a half combo and half chicken alfredo pizza, with a side of cheesy garlic bread. Please order the garlic bread, it's so cheesy and delicious. I loved every bite of it and I ate almost all of it in one go. It was that good!!! The pizza was delicious!! I recommend trying the chicken alfredo if you like a white pizza. They were filled with toppings, the crust was yummy, and the pizza was flavorful. Definitely stop by if you want some good pizza!!

Yelp
$30 for an overly salty and greasy pie. Not impressed. I really wanted to like this mom and pop shop but will not go back

Jane R.

Yelp
I love everything about this place. Their food is excellent and so tasty, their service is always delightful and the atmosphere is cozy and quaint!

Yelp
Wish we had great pizza like this back in central Florida, can't wait to come back and have more of the pizza !

Yelp
I have reviewed them before but since the Covid 19 take out rules they deserve another mention. We decided we wanted to order Pizza to pick up on a Saturday about noon. I knew we needed it and wouldn't have time to wait so I tried calling them all day Friday to order it. They were so busy that I didn't get through until. 8pm on Friday night an hour before they closed. I told them what I needed they said we don't usually open until 1 pm. I admit I whined a little bit when she put me on hold. She came back and said they would come in early to make my order. I was beyond impressed my order barely came to $50. We arrived Saturday a few minutes past noon. They met us outside and placed our order in the back. They thanked us for our business. So a shout out to Rusted Sun for feeding me and my family at a time that is crazy. It was delicious and hopefully we all get back to normal soon and we will be in to stay awhile and eat your delicious food.

Jason P.

Yelp
Loved this place since o loved around the corner when they opened. Just went back 20 years later and still great

Yelp
This is probably some of the best pizza if not the best pizza in the valley. Sauce has great flavor and the crust is cooked very well. It's not doughy or undercooked and the cheese the sauce portion is great. Service is friendly and the prices are reasonable.
