Food was pretty good but not amazing. We enjoyed the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Kale Salad, Fish & Chips and Lobster Roll. We finished off with their Bread Pudding, which was delicious! Our waiter was very friendly and welcoming. He’s originally from the UK and had a fabulous sense of humor. We enjoyed him very much.

Experiencing the rustic kitchen in LA for the first time was an absolute delight, leaving an indelible mark on my taste buds and culinary memories. From the moment I stepped inside, the cozy and inviting ambiance set the perfect stage for a remarkable dining experience. The menu boasted an array of delectable dishes, each prepared with a touch of rustic charm and an emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients. In conclusion, my first encounter with the rustic kitchen in LA was an extraordinary adventure for my palate. It's an experience that has left me eager to return and explore even more of their culinary wonders. If you ever get the chance, don't miss the opportunity to indulge in this culinary gem.

We were there for a wine dinner with a Winery from Paso Robles. The chef prepared a menu to pair with the 6 wines served. The pairing was excellent and the food delicious! I think they have wine dinners frequently. The normal menu also looked good.

Google
SO GOOD!!! I LOVED this place! We had a buy one get one burger deal so we checked it out. Two burgers and a wine flight. Wine was good. Food was great. But the service was impeccable. Owner is so sweet! Fun woman. Great Covid compliance. Took our temps, recorded we were there and contact info in case they found out about an exposure, seated us outside away from other tables, everything was clean. No, you will not be spammed. I haven’t got a text or email. Dessert counter is beautiful! We took a fruit tart, chocolate cake, and vanilla ice cream home. All were delectable, and the vanilla ice cream was the real stuff, the good stuff with beans/vanilla powder. I would 100% go again and am glad we live so close by!

Google
This place is absolutely lovely. I went there for the first time yesterday for a wine and food pairing… It’s family owned and the atmosphere was warm and inviting… it was a real change of pace from the standard fussy LA wine bar. … Go here. You will not be disappointed. And that’s a wine snob guarantee 🫡

Google
Amazing food, friendly service and large wine and beer selection. There is a small patio along sidewalk and I think they added some tables in the parking lot but I either order to go during busy times or go when their not as busy. Very relaxed atmosphere. Lobster roll is delicious and melts in your mouth. Kung Pow Brussle sprouts are not too spicy but tender and yummy. Fried cauliflower is nice and crispy and comes with great chipotle dipping sauce which WAS pretty spicy. They have great happy hour specials starting around 3 including food specials. Fish taco is giant battered and fried filet of cod on corn tortillas with mango salsa and dressing. Fried green tomato slider is SOOO good and light with big slice of avocado on brioche bun. My favorite was Vietnamese pork lettuce wrap. Big helping of spicy pork with dressing. Yum! There's so much more I still want to try including the bacon jalapeno mac n cheese, salmon Caesar salad, garlic parmesan fries and big burgers!

Google
Honestly a really lovely place, great vibes, a local spot. This might’ve been more of a personal problem, and maybe I’m misremembering but I don’t feel like there was much on the menu that I could eat for a good price (I’m a pescatarian so I might just be making things hard for myself). I got the tuna sliders and it was ok but I felt like it was missing something!! Or needed some sort of side (or maybe the sliders are SUPPOSED to be the side and I’m being silly). I’ll probably be back, because the dessert case looked so so good, and their small plates we shared were lovely. My friend got the chicken katsu salad I believe and it looked really tasty and like a bang for your buck with how much you get in it!

Google
I was excited to try this place but was sadly disappointed. The Baja fish tacos were bland. Good tacos don't rely on just toppings..season your fish!! I had to add salt, pepper and hot sauce just to help it out bc I was hungry. My friend had the breakfast burrito. That was also bland. The place was also kind of empty. That's never a good sign on a Sunday around brunch/lunch time. The skinny fries were good because they had seasoning so that's the only saving grace here. Servers were nice but overall I don't recommend and won't be returning.

Yelp
Colin was our server and did a fantastic job. We ordered the pickle appetizer and it was delicious. From there we tried the Fried Chicken Salad and the Steak! Both were done to perfection and seasoned perfectly. We closed the meal with flourless chocolate cake with a scoop of McConnell's vanilla ice cream. WE WILL BE BACK!!

Yelp
I am wavering between 4.5 and five stars for this place, but a 4.5 gives ya something to shoot for. When we showed up, it took quite a long time to even be acknowledged, probably 10 minutes. And when we were acknowledged, we were asked to sit at the bar, which we agreed to, though we weren't super happy about it. The ambiance is definitely bustling and busy. Once we finally did get service, it was good and attentive. The owner himself comes out and schmoozes with everyone including us. I told him that the starter of poke nachos was good, but that they could use to lose the tarot chips because they were just soggy and not crunchy at all. Otherwise, it was delicious. As far as our entrees, they were delicious! We both ordered the sliders (beef short rib for Boyfriend and fried chicken for me). Overall, good vibes and good food!!

Yelp
A HUGE 5/5 for Rustic Kitchen! Best restaurant I have been to in some time. A nice, quaint wine bar in the beautiful neighborhood of Mar Vista where I work, Rustic Kitchen is off of two busy streets with plenty of neighborhood parking. The wine bar is a great ambiance with hundreds of wines to choose from by the glass, as well as a great selection of bottles. We decided to go with a 2014 vintage Tempranillo which was light and crisp, but full-bodied enough to hold nice with the amazing food we got, which ranged from the stuffed squash, to the steak frites, to the black cherry glazed pork chop! It's safe to say that the black cherry glazed pork chop was nothing short of phenomenal, and I would get that every time if I returned. Last but not least: John, the owner and sommelier! What an amazing guy we were able to have several conversations with throughout the night as he exuded passion for being a small business owner with great food (from his wife) as well as a fantastic selection of wines. It's safe to say this place has not seen the last of me! Please do yourself a favor and go here.

Yelp
I absolutely adore Rustic Kitchen! Came here with a friend for dinner. Due to its proximity in my neighborhood, I couldn't wait to try this gem of a place. When you walk in, the restaurant has a very intimate vibe. Our waitress was super kind and open to answering all questions that we had. The food was so delicious! I ordered the salmon and mashed potatoes with a side of broccolini while my friend ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was cooked to perfection. While I didn't get to try their wines, it's on my list now to come back just for that! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
I brought my mom for brunch after finding this lovely little place on Yelp (of course). It was a warm sunny day so we sat on the patio. We ordered the bottomless mimosas because, why not? What is brunch without them? The OJ was delicious and freshly squeezed and the champagne was good quality. Our server was very attentive and helpful with menu questions - and made some recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious. We even enjoyed dessert - which was fabulously chocolate. We enjoyed it so much that my mom has been asking to go back!

Yelp
I've been to rustic kitchen once before during the pandemic but most recently last week This wine bar nestled in Mar Vista is a hidden gem and has a table ready plates for all specific dietary needs The owner and staff are super sweet and accommodating an offer a great ambience/vibe to dine in The ingredients are fresh. The food is delicious and the wine menu offers a large selection to pair with your meal. Overall a 10/10 experience

Yelp
I popped in since I was getting my hair done next door and grabbed a latte to go. The service was super friendly and the ambiance looked so good I will have to come back and enjoy their happy hour menu! The latte was delicious! Super smooth and creamy. Great ambiance and vibe. I have yet to try out the food and do another review but today was a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
If you're like me, you've driven past Rustic Kitchen Restaurant & Wine Bar on Centinela in Mar Vista without knowing what a gem it really is. If you love high-quality food and wine, you need to add Rustic Kitchen to the top of your list. There is plenty of free street parking out front, and they have ample seating inside, at the bar, and outdoors. For wine, the servers can help guide you if they're in house sommelier isn't available. As I default to wines from Central California, I went with a glass of Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles, 2021 vintage, and it was delicious. For the food pairing, the menu seems to regularly change, but if you're a carnivore and they have it available, I recommend the Black Cherry BBQ Glazed 14oz Bone in Pork Chop with roasted broccolini. The cherry glaze was uniquely tart and sweet, and it paired so perfectly with the savory pork chop. Our server was hilarious and definitely made me want to return soon. Strong recommend this place for the service, laid back atmosphere, wine offerings, and cuisine.

Yelp
The dinner came out very quickly even before we got our drinks. One entree (the branzino) never came until we finally asked for it. The one appetizer that we ordered was never served. The Brussel sprouts were undercooked. The short ribs w/polenta and branzino were flavorless and underwhelming. We've been to the restaurant a few times and always enjoyed the meals. This time was a real miss!!! I sure hope this was an off night for the restaurant. Not sure we'll be back. John F - our visit to your restaurant was on Friday (11/22) at 6:30pm. Our waiter was the shorter gentleman with a buzz cut. To be more specific, the short ribs were dry and there was no blue cheese essence to the polenta. The branzino was over cooked and dry. The Brussels sprouts were undercooked and hard. Very disappointed!

Yelp
Went to this place to catch up with a few old friends. This place reminds me of a neighborhood cafe/bistro in upper west side of NYC. Wish there's a place like this in the South Bay. Food was good, vibe was very chill, service was great, and the price was very reasonable. I had steak frites and it was pretty good for a place like this. Obviously not prime or wagyu good but that's not what this place is supposed to be. Would love to try the salmon and chicken under a brick the next time I'm there, and there will definitely be a next time. Lobster Mac and cheese also look good as well.

Yelp
If you are a wine enthusiast that loves trying new wines (read, lots of wine by the glass choices), keep reading! It's been a minute since I've written a review, but I felt compelled to come out of retirement to leave this one. This place is a hidden gem that I always felt was missing in Los Angeles. I'm surprised that I've never tried this place and it will be one of my go tos from now on. John has created a wino heaven of which you can only really experience something similar to in Europe (for me France) where they have dozens (literally he has 60) wines by the glass. He hand picks each of them, and uses the Coravin so he can serve so many without worrying about consuming the whole bottle. His knowledge of wine is fantastic. His wife is the head chef and her cooking is on point. We had black squid ink pasta with scallops, which were so tasty. And I must say, their squash blossoms were better than the ones at a famous Italian restaurant in Marina Del Rey. The service was great, and being able to chat about wine and do a flight tailored to your palate was so much fun. I'm definitely going back and have been telling all my friends about it. Check it out people, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I like it! Finally came by here although I've lived in the neighborhood for years. Was so happily to discover free parking in the back. Walked in to a really lovely wine bar ambiance. Extensive menu and a happy hour. We only ordered a couple things and a couple glasses of wine, but it was all good. Groundwork's coffee and McConnell's being sold in the take home section. I'm already planning a return trip with my friend who came with me the first time and also loved it. Also, they are supporting our local elementary school so come out and join me on November 15th and tell them Richland sent you. Thanks Rustic for the local community support!

Yelp
Small hole in the wall place near Playa Vista & Venice. The food is amazing & very varied. Service is above & beyond & all staff bend over backwards to make u feel comfortable & content. It is near LMU where my grandson is going so we will return many times in the future. Parking may b problematic.

Yelp
I've gotten food from here via delivery and it's good. I've tried salad, avocado toast, etc. I should eat here sometime if they have outdoor dining. They have a varied extensive menu which is great. Something for everyone.

Yelp
Super cool ambiance with gentle music and friendly staff. Food was prepared exquisite and was totally delicious! Fantastic wine options bottle or by the glass. A must if you need a nice quaint evening out. They go the distance in their menu options and seasonal specials. The cherry glazed pork chop was to die for!!! The lobster brioche roll was equally fantastic. I highly recommend. A close place for locals and if you happen to want to find that next hidden gem.

Yelp
Great service. The chicken pot pie is excellent. I love the atmosphere. I feel very comfortable just having coffee and a pastry or bringing the family for dinner

Yelp
Amazing services from our server Zack! With amazing food and drinks ! So so so happy I finally tried this place. I have been wanting to come here for a while and finally did and will definitely be back! Excited to try more items and other wines. Amazing menu.

Yelp
Rustic kitchen continues to impress. Great food, good prices, excellent service. They also have wine dinners which we haven't tried yet but look fantastic.
google avatar

Carolyn K.

Yelp
Really think they continue to up their game - this time I had the chicken teriyaki burger with brioche bun and beer battered spicy pickle, paired with Lambrusco wine from Italy. It was so good!!!

Abigail M.

Yelp
The place was slow and we asked to sit in a bigger table. We were told to only sit in a two top. We asked again nicely that we would feel more comfortable on the higher 4 topper. The server said no again even though there were two ladies eating on a 4 topper as well. If we were told we couldn't I think that should apply to everyone not just a selected few.

Yelp
Rustin Kitchen Market & Cafe has potential, but it could use some work with kinks in service. We were seated at a table for two that did not have room for the plates that they use with beverages - next time, we would sit at the bar for sure. Early on, it was hard to get any service, but it eased up. We started with the split pea soup, which was hearty but a bit underwhelming as to seasoning and had a lot of potato filler. I would skip this. For our entree, we shared the short ribs, which were pretty good. They were rich and tender, albeit a bit dry, and served over creamy polenta (which made up for the dryness). The best dishes were the broccolini and kung pao Brussels sprouts with the broccolini being the hands down winner as they were crisp and well prepared. The real highlight of coming here is the HUGE selection of wine and all of the wine geeks. Our fave was the Adelaida Zinfandel on tap. So good! I look forward to coming again and exploring more vegetables on the menu and some of the great wine. Be sure to be prepared for limited staffing, which impacts service, and I encourage you to avoid the small 2-tops in favor of the bar.

T W.

Yelp
I'm a regular and love this spot. The team changes often so the service is inconsistent at times but they hire good people, that are friendly and engaging. The wine selection is amazing and so is the food. A great local spot.
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Love this place. Very varied menu - and so far it's all been good. I've had the salmon and the short ribs, and my friends have had salads. We were all happy with our food. The desserts look fabulous, although we haven't tried them yet. Great beer and wine selection, and a wonderful neighborhood vibe. Wish it was closer to home.

Yelp
Sometimes, a friend suggests a lunch meet up at a place unfamiliar to you and without hesitation, you go. Well, yesterday I went here with zero expectations. Friendly staff and a lovely vibe. Menu has something for everyone... and they are quite accommodating ( I was asking to have a dish ( crab cake sliders) but it was on dinner manner. Manager was happy to make it so! Delicious... my friend had the fried chicken salad and dessert of mini lemon meringue pie. I definitely wanted their balsamic Brussels Sprouts... next time I will try their burger... oh yes, definitely will be a next time. A little westside gem with plenty of parking. Highly recommend and so excited my friend suggested it!

Yelp
What a gem this place! Came here on a quick "Cesar salad" craving search in yelp and got more thant we bargained for. Ordered the cesar salad, sweet potato fries, grilled cheese and the short rib panini. Cesar salad was incredible, short rib that melted in my mouth. Would 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Called to place an order. Sat on hold for 10 minutes and then they came back and hung the phone up. Food is good but the worst service out of any restaurant.

Yelp
Great neighborhood food and wine bar in west LA. I always go here when I am visiting family. Great wine selection and they have quite a frw vegetarian options.

Yelp
This place was great! John (the owner) was incredibly sweet. He says his wife is the main chef here and comes up with all recipes (which are delish!) Very home-like atmosphere! Very casual, yet everything is served vet elegantly. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Food 3.5 Service and parking 5 stars Been meaning to go here for a while. Got take out with great service. Marilyn is friendly and attentive. I appreciate how she tried to accommodate a garlic allergy for a desired burger by asking the chef if there was beef prepared without it. Braised Short Rib Panini - FYI their paninis are not grilled. Not an issue. Stuffed with meat but disappointedly really dry and under seasoned. Some sauce or jus was needed. The Turkey Panini had turkey chunks that also were extremely overcooked. Not much Brie but bites with it were awesome. I only tasted a hint of cranberry aoli. More would have brightened the sandwich. The same for raw arugula as mine absorbed the walnut pesto. There is a surprising large amount of parking spots behind the building. Outdoor dining also there and on the sidewalk. Seems like this would be a chill neighborhood place for their Happy Hour. They sell bottled wine, packaged deli meats and cheese and other gourmet food. I don't know if very dry meat is the norm or if I came on an off day. Either way, I am willing to return for a weekend brunch.

Yelp
Love this spot! Cute atmosphere and wine bar. Small little market selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Sidewalk patio and outdoor dining. Our server was Michael - ask for him!! He recommended an excellent red wine. We had the crispy cauliflower and sweet potato fries for appetizers. Loved the sauce with both items! For entrees we had the pan salmon and chicken pot pie. I really enjoyed the truffle mashed potatoes with my salmon. For dessert, we had German chocolate cake. It's so rare to see it anywhere in LA! Our table had a great view of the dessert case! Two happy hours. PS: There's a nice little parking lot on the back side of the building

Yelp
My friend and I went here on a Sunday afternoon and honestly could not have been more disappointed. I love supporting small local businesses and was excited from all the positive notes on Yelp, so it is unfortunate that the experience was not better as we do not plan to return. The reason for the one star review is that there was not one positive note to mention. We walked in and were the only party there (I guess that should have been a sign). Upon seating it took a bit of time for our waiter to bring our menus and take our drink order. My friend asked for a Diet Coke and I stuck with water, however upon bringing the beverage, it was not a Diet Coke and instead a non brand of diet cola, which I feel should have been disclosed upon order to ensure we were okay with the substitution. Anyways, we ordered the avocado fries, Caesar salad, steak frites, and lobster Mac and cheese. The Caesar salad had a very bitter taste to it and the dressing did not have much dressing. The lobster Mac was the reason we came as we usually frequent Ruth's Chris and were excited for this place being walking distance, well it was half the size of Ruth's Chris, was very bland, and was more expensive. The steak was absolutely inedible, I am one that doesn't usually send food back, however I could not get the steak down and it ruined my appetite. We asked for it medium and it was more well done and had a very burnt taste to it. We let the waiter know upon him finally returning to check on us and he provided another, however the new steak while cooked medium had absolutely no flavor. Would suggest not wasting your time, not sure where all the 5 star ratings came from.

Yelp
This place has Glogg. This... place ...has Vin Glögg. , ! It is super rare. Hot red wine with mulling spices. Come soon till they offer it. It is seasonal. Outdoors seating area and inside is cozy - great for dates

Yelp
A nice neighborhood restaurant with very polite service. Chicken pot pie is good and the broccoli is good too. The pork chop is thick but not too much flavor. Maybe should try something else next time

Yelp
Amazing food... perfect wine selection paired with a super friendly customer service... The Lobster roll and the Lobster Mac&Cheese are to die for!

Yelp
Went here based on reviews and photos. It was a business dinner and the staff was friendly and professional. Food was on spot, reasonably priced, very good, and portions were large. Atmosphere was perfect. Would highly recommend. Vibes of a neighborhood restaurant. Winner!

Yelp
Great little place for lunch! I didn't know the area at all and chose it from Yelp to have lunch with a client based in Culver City. She had never heard of it and she loved it. They have limited space but they take reservations. Had the Mango-Avocado salad and sliders. We all (4) had salads and enjoyed them. Great service and background (not too loud) rock n roll. You may have to park a bock down the residential street, but that's good for all of us! Try it. You'll like it!

Yelp
Went in happy hour and was pleasantly impressed with the bar tenders, the spicy chicken slider and Cesar salad and skinny fries were perfecto. definitely recommend rustic.

Yelp
If you're looking for one of the best hidden gem local spots in Los Angeles, look no further. This food is absolutely amazing. From breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, everything is epic. It's like a home cooked meal on steroids. Atmosphere, ambiance, food, service, it's all great.

Yelp
Been here a few times so this review is overdue Small cute spot in mar vista in a mostly residential area. Small parking lot behind, but also lots of street parking. Smaller restaurant inside, but cozy with a small outdoor patio outside. Staff is very friendly. Food is good but a bit pricey for smaller portions. Short rib sliders - meat was well cooked and tender, nice combination of flavors but wish there was a bit more of the horseradish (but I LOVE horseradish so probably enough for the average person) Parmesan garlic fries - love these, very strong garlic and Parmesan flavors, plenty to share with at least 4 people VB Burger - solid classic burger, good flavors, the side of fries with it is quite large Cod and fries - nicely cooked fish, came with 2 large pieces, with a nice crispy outer portion and good portion of fries. Homemade tartar sauce is good. Nothing special, but good and solid fish and chips fish. Lobster Mac and cheese - delicious, comes with a lot of lobster, but wish there were more Mac and cheese noodles for the price Overall the food is tasty and good quality, but smaller portions and pricy. For the quality and convenience we will definitely continue to come back.

Yelp
RKobb salad (with curry chicken salad instead of turkey- 4.5 stars Caprese- 3 stars Short rib panini- 2 stars- cheese was not melted and it It was missing something. I think it needed an element of heat or sweet.. Parmesan fries- 4 stars Burger- - 5 stars

Yelp
My wife and I had a great lunch experience at the Rustic Kitchen today. Executive Chef Nöel welcomed us and made sure everything was perfect. We ordered a Grilled Cheese Sandwich with a buttery fontina cheese, sliced pear, grilled onions, and we added bacon. We both really enjoyed it. We also had the Lobster Mac & Cheese. Touched by a truffle oil fairy. Another winner! But, it was the Panko Crusted Cauliflower that both my wife and I thought was the surprise winner, though everything was delicious.

Yelp
Anything on the menu with short rib or lobster is a must. This place rocks. We've been several times now and have tried most of the staples. Very small but food and service are top notch, and they have some outdoor seating. They are on some of the delivery apps, but because the menu changes, and off-menu items are often on the board or in the case - it's worth the trip, even in our crappy LA traffic. I didn't enjoy the delivered food as much, though still good. Take an Uber and check it out in person. Better experience. Costs the same as delivery nowadays anyway.
google avatar

Allie G.

Yelp
We then had to ask the waiter not once, but three times for the rest of our food, WHICH HE DIDN'T EVEN ORDER. I cant have any other reaction but to laugh as this was the worst service I've had on this side of town. Definitely not worth $30 cold food, bad service, and portions so small you think it was off the kids menu. The 1 star is for the sweet host who unfortunately has to work in such a toxic environment.

Yelp
The food here was so amazing! Great wine selection too. Sweet potato fries were delicious...
