Rusty Pot Cafe - Review - Inglewood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"A greasy spoon diner in downtown Inglewood, Rusty Pot serves breakfast sandwiches we’d eat any time of day. The Overload Breakfast Sandwich comes piled with bacon, avocado, tomato, eggs, and aioli, all over sourdough, and is exactly what we want when we’re hungover. The catfish po’boy is another great bet - it comes out looking like a burger, with tomato, lettuce, and pickles under a huge hunk of crispy fried catfish. It’s our favorite thing when we’re here for lunch. The space itself is a bit dark, so we like to sit at one of their tables out on Market Street." - Brett Keating

"The only eatery on Market Street with outdoor seating allows you to enjoy great food and sunshine in one setting. The Rusty Pot Chicken Sandwich is our favorite, but you can't go wrong with their chicken and waffles either." - Aero Collective

The Best Breakfast Sandwiches in Los Angeles, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"Inglewood’s laid-back Rusty Pot Cafe is a simple, satisfying stop for anyone in the area. It’s comfortable and peaceful inside while the line cooks fly Southern-inspired dishes from the kitchen. Some folks have been coming for decades because Rusty Pot’s menu leans into big flavors and great value, like the overloaded breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon, and avocado. It’s served with a side of potatoes, and always arrives with hot sauce." - Mona Holmes

Where to Eat Before the Game in L.A. | Eater

"Only a mile from the game (including the walk through the stadium’s massive parking lots), Rusty Pot’s take on southern home-style cooking is a staple of Market Street. The sandwiches here make great game day food, especially for people who don’t plan to buy snacks during the game. The overload breakfast sandwich piles bacon, avocado, eggs, and potatoes onto sourdough bread for a full platter likely to destroy even the thought of hunger, and the chatter box, made up of a dozen fried chicken wings, can make for a great tailgate potluck contribution." - Vox Creative

The atmosphere felt warm and inviting from the moment I stepped inside. A friendly smile greeted me at the entrance, setting a positive tone for the entire visit. The service was attentive without being intrusive, creating a comfortable dining experience. Every request was handled with efficiency and a genuine desire to please. It's clear that customer satisfaction is a top priority at this establishment. The staff's dedication to providing exceptional service truly enhanced my visit. I left feeling valued and appreciated as a customer. This level of service deserves recognition and praise.

Google
Food was delicious. Planning to go back and try the catfish... Had the Pot's Denver omelet & grits was so delicious that I didn't take a before because I wanted to dig in. 👍🏽 It sure was good. Side note we were looking for a breakfast spot to have breakfast in honor on my grandmother's Birthday. We visited her after @ Inglewood cemetery.

Google
My friends and I get together on the last Sunday of the month for breakfast and I chose this spot. Let me tell you...the food was amazing ! Four in our party got the catfish and grits and our other friend got the waffles. Those cheesy grits though...perfect! The customer care was impeccable, the atmosphere was cozy to us and we will be coming through again! Thank you for loving your clientele by giving home cooking! 😘

Google
Tried this place for the first time today and it was absolutely delicious. Best waffles and chicken wings in LA and I have tried other places. The chicken wings and fries were tasty too. The servers were extremely nice, will definitely go back when in the area. Seating is limited but we got there at a good time and got a table.

Google
I absolutely loved The Rusty Pot! The service was A1 from start to finish—everyone was so kind and welcoming. My phone died during my visit, and one of the gentlemen, I believe his name was Miguel, kindly let me use his charger. That was excellent customer service and truly appreciated! Now let’s talk about the food—it was amazing! I had the fried fish, cheese grits, and cheesy eggs. Everything was seasoned just right and cooked to perfection. My babe had a burger, and he loved it too! We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for such a great experience!

Google
I was trying to find a decent place for my friends and I to have breakfast/lunch. I was visiting from Florida. I came across the Rusty Pot Cafe. SOOOO HAPPY I found this place. The food is AMAZING!!!! I had the fried chicken and waffle. When I tell you that waffle was hands down, the best waffle I've ever eaten. The chicken was seasoned perfectly! My friends ordered the fish, grits, and toast. They, too, said it was delicious! The food was so good that I made it my business to grab takeout again before I headed back to Florida. The service was great! Staff is super friendly, and they check on you to see if you are in need of anything else. I will ALWAYS return to the Rusty Pot Cafe EVERY TIME I'm visiting LA! GREAT FRESH FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, AND A GREAT ATMOSPHERE!!! I HIGHLY SUGGEST EATING HERE!!!

Google
The food is good, service 8/10 but that's only because he didn't tell me about the special so I ended up paying more money. Went back the next had the chicken and waffles. Chicken seasoned good and the waffle was on point. Grits were done right. Owner is a sweet lady and she comes out great and talks to you and she's doing the cooking. The server was nice always smiling and attentive.

Google
The service was exceptional, it was not crowded and the food tastes great. I had the chicken and grits which were flavorful and more than warm. Eating outside has its own difficulties dealing with flies. There is no outdoor cover to reduce the flies and would improve the comfort of eating outside. The indoor is small with 4 tables, but was clean and bright. I applaud the effort it takes to have great food in a small area. Try it, you will like it.

Yelp
Great food and community. I left my wallet and they delivered it to me. I'll be back

Yelp
Do not sleep on this hole in the wall! It's right near LAX in Inglewood. The food was delicious! The service was amazing! We had a great time! I always recommend this place when someone I know is traveling to LAX! It's a winner!

Yelp
The Rusty Pot Cafe on the south end of Market St in Inglewood is a nice cafe. The food is good, the cafe is clean, the service is wonderful. I had the Golden Waffle with Turkey Sausage Patty. Very delicious. I will definitely go back.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant... Food and service are outstanding. Had the Catfish & Grits and my husband had Chicken & Waffle, both were simply delicious . Served hot and fresh which is a standard for me and I'm sooooo happy they met it. Can't wait to go back and explore the menu !

Yelp
I have not eaten here but my grandma went yesterday for her birthday! I WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THE OWNER OR guy I spoke with on the phone!! That helped me on the phone yesterday around 11am. My grandma wanted to wanted to eat here for her birthday & I live in WASHINGTON!! I called ahead so that I could pay for my grandma's meal on her birthday as a surprise. He set everything up so that I could do that. This is what great customer service is!! I appreciate you, for making the process so easy & simple so that I could do something special for her. She really enjoyed her meal!! It's her new favorite place to eat.

Yelp
Beautiful day for Great service and great breakfast in Inglewood! Rusty Pot Cafe is my new breakfast spot!

Yelp
Rusty Pot is so delicious!! I get the overload breakfast sandwich without bacon, you do not miss it at all! They toast the bread on both sides, the chipotle aioli is super flavorful, and it's just the perfect bite with the avocado it's literally so good Waffle is perfect, chicken is delicious, Roscoe's who is what my sister said when she had the combo The grits are super creamy, so so creamy. Butter, salt, and pepper omg Service is hit or miss, only because they're typically busy and often have only two servers there but the food is ready quickly, comes out hot, and it's all so tasty. It's a small space in terms of seating (maybe a dozen tables) so expect a wait if you come at a busy time but they allow takeout orders. Love Rusty Pot! Even had them cater a Christmas Eve breakfast a few years ago lol big recommendation for this spot

Yelp
Takeout is so easy. I ordered through DoorDash a breakfast sandwich and a catfish breakfast. Unfortunately, and I missed the call to let me know they we're out of catfish and if I want to place another order. The sandwich was enough to share. Services is good with takeout. They make sure its packaged well for traveling so it's still pretty warm when it arrives. The sandwich had buttery and soft bread, along with apple smoked bacon & the perfect egg. Also loved the potatoes w/ bell peppers which was a good compliment. The perfect mid morning breakfast in bed and I added my homemade mimosas to drink.

Yelp
This is a great place to eat. Their food is great and their customer service is excellent. I like to take my wife and kids here to eat at least a couple of times a month we live nearby and by far this is our favorite place to have breakfast. I definitely recommend going there.

Yelp
Second visit because.....THAT BELGIAN WAFFLE!!!! I'm going to still give it 3 stars because the decor is lacking, it gives meal after service church dining hall vibes, AND STILL WITH THE AGGRESSIVE FLIES! We moved outside because of the aggressive flies INSIDE, but the outside flies weren't any better, they hid as we walked up giving the illusion that there weren't any. Again a simple fan pointed towards the door would help with the flies going in to begin with. TBH, I would still recommend, maybe just to go. THE FLIES ARE TOO MUCH! Had the chicken n waffle meal . DELICIOSO!! Chicken breast is boneless, juicy, and seasoned to perfection! Again the syrup is perfectly sweet and tops it all off ! So do go, just maybe order it to go, unless you're don't mind fighting flies ‍

Yelp
Stumbled across this black owned business. Looking through yelp tried it for the first time the food was good just need a little bit more seasoning. Customer service was great. I order mines to go I'll be back to try other items on the menu

Yelp
The food was amazing! A real hole in the wall kind of spot but feels like home. Great service thanks to Diana. Kept checking in to see if our party needed anything. They take card and cash. Street parking only, pay at meter. Overall great food, and super incredible service!

Yelp
Great small restaurant in downtown Inglewood. Everything on the menu is good but the chicken and waffles or catfish is my recommendation.

Yelp
Doing my due diligence and updating my review to let you know that this location is not the same Rusty Pot as before. I am putting up pictures of the new menu which is online. They only serve chicken & waffles and breakfast burgers. Such a bummer because I loved their food. I stopped by the other day for breakfast but was surprised when the waitress told us that the menu changed a couple of weeks ago. We decided to leave because they did not have anything that we really wanted. I passed by again today and to my surprise I notice that the Rusty Pot sign is no longer on the building. There is a plastic signage that says Wings in Motion and Eggcellant. I did notice the sign the other day but I didn't notice that the Rusty Pot sign was gone, for some reason the waitress did not tell us it was an entirely different business concept. The waitress is the same waitress that worked there when it was Rusty Pot so I thought it was the same business.

Yelp
I usually love this place but I was so disappointed when I ate here for brunch yesterday. We got this plate that had potato's, eggs, cheese bacon and avocado but like there were very few potatoes under all the eggs so it was basically like an omelette which I don't care for. I feel like it was way over priced at $19 for a mess. I couldn't even eat a quarter of it. My hunny felt bad so he sucked it up as it was my treat and he didn't want me to have paid $50 for food that was not good. The service was cool. Giovanni was our waiter he was very nice. The ambiance was cool, clean and not to many people so it was nice. But I should have stuck with the breakfast sandwich I always get.

Yelp
Had a delightful brunch at Rusty Pot! The chicken and waffles were a crispy dream, the grits were creamy perfection, and Melissa's service added a friendly touch to the experience. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Yesterday afternoon was my first time here. I had the catfish po boy no onions, no tomatoes with bread & butter pickles & fries, and an Arnold Palmer with sweet tea. The food, service & ambiance were great. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture because it looked very tasty and it was. Can't wait to go back earlier in the day to try breakfast with coffee.

Yelp
The food is solid theres parking everywhere, its really the best kept secret in Inglewood.

Nicole A.

Yelp
The food is okay nothing to brag about bland to say the least...who ever cooking in the kitchen has lost their soul‍

Yelp
Walked in and Walked out! Sorry I was expecting a little more. As a USC graduate and seeing how a fellow grad owned the establishment. I was disappointed with the ambiance and other things turned me off.
google avatar

Monica O.

Yelp
My God, an Angel must of have prepared the food!! It was sooooo delicious, best soul food I've ever have had!!! 100% satisfied with the taste, all perfectly cooked! Very friendly staff! They check on your constantly and make sure you are enjoying your meal. Restaurant is clean and smells nice!! Will definitely be back at Rusty Pot!

Yelp
Food was great and delicious! Service was quick and great. Diane was very sweet. We visited on a Thursday morning... And we had a quiet meal and we're able to catch up with old friends.

Yelp
Easy to walk past this place in downtown Inglewood but I'm glad I took the time to find it. The staff is very courteous and the waffle was great. I'll definitely be back soon, especially considering it's centrally located here in downtown Inglewood. The Belgian waffle is cooked to perfection, especially with the butter and syrup. The eggs and bacon had good texture but were a little bland for my taste. Looking forward to trying the catfish and grits next time.

Tameka M.

Yelp
The service and food was simply amazing. Go to Rusty Pot Cafe if you are wanting a home cooked meal. Fresh ingredients and great flavor!

Yelp
My family and I stopped here as we're from out of town and saw this place was nearby, and I am SO glad we did. 10/10 service and food, the catfish po'boy was phenomenal, so juicy, tender and everything was made fresh. Lovely little hole-in-the wall brunch spot. Definitely will be back the next time I'm in LA!

Yelp
Came across this awesome mom and pop breakfast spot! Delicious breakfast and wonderful server. The food was cooked to perfection and food was served quick. There is parking along side the street and in front of the restaurant. We ordered the Bully Omelet with sautéed potatoes and wheat toast. Of course served with some house brewed coffee (:

Michelle G.

Yelp
This place has rebanded the menu and changed the name. It is now called Waffles in Motion and the menu is basically waffles and chicken, shrimp etc. I was very disappointed when I went there with my husband to have our regular breakfast of eggs, grits, chicken wings and toast that they no longer serve along with a lot of other items. This place had become a staple restaurant in Inglewood and now it feels like a trendy spot that will fadeaway. I wish the owners well, but a variety menu is what the community is used to.

Gillermina N.

Yelp
Great place to have breakfast, clean, food is excellent and Diane our service was very friendly. Definitely recommend, will definitely came back.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot. Southern cooking at its best. Clean and quaint. Excellent service. Had fried chicken, waffles, grits and an omelet. Must try if in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Interesting what one discovers as you walk around during a break in a meeting. Excellent waffles chicken and the bacon egg sandwich is to die for Menu limited to egg, fried chicken and waffle items but they do these thing great

Yelp
I really don't like giving bad reviews, but I came to Rusty Pot when they kinda 1st opened up and the food was sooooo unimpressive, along with the owner's NASTY ATTITUDE!!! Firstly, we were out walking, lookin for a veggie food spot that was open and we ran across this new joint called RustyPot. I didn't look vegetarian, but it was clean, so we asked if they had a veggie burger and the woman said "Yes we do. I asked if they had wheat buns (they didnt) so I wanted the wheat bread... and do you know, this woman (the OWNER) argued AT ME about MY bread choices??!! There were about 5 different types SHE HAD to choose from, so I chose wheat. She snapped at me, saying, "WHEAT AIN'T GOOD FOR YOU! IT'S BAD FOR GUT HEALTH!!! YOU NEED WHITE SOURDOUGH!!" I kindly replied, "Well, why do you offer wheat if it's bad for you, ma'am? I dont really eat white bread anyway". She said, "I GIVE Y'ALL CHOICES, BUT THIS WHEAT BREAD IS STILL BAD FOR YOU!!" I'm standing there looking super-confused, as this grown woman is raising her voice, arguing AT me (because I'm wasn't arguing and I actually didn't reply to her anymore) about wheat bread vs white bread!!! I really was tryna give her a chance (even AFTER THE RUDNESS) since it's a Black-owned/WOMAN-owned business and I loove supporting my people. Mind you, there was no one else dining there and I could see why. The atmosphere was bland, too. We went on and reluctantly ordered our veggie burgers, which were okay. Then I kindly pulled sis to the side and quietly told her that "the conversation about the breads made me feel a bit uncomfortable and was kinda rude and shouldn't have even happened." She rudely defended her position on that white sourdough bread and continued to snap her neck and carry on. She even surprisingly told me that she was into health!! I couldn't tell by looking at her, but nevertheless I told her "God bless you" and we never went back there. The Rusty Pot was EXTREEEEEEEMELY DISAPPOINTING. Hopefully, she's improved her customer service skills (and gotten rid of that NASTY, RUSTY ATTITUDE) since then. Ugh!!!

Yelp
It was our first time here. We ordered catfish, bacon, eggs and grits. Everything thing was delicious. Southern style and hospitality plus. We will be back.

Yelp
Me and my husband and our son came down from the Bay Area for a Raider game. We wanted to grab some breakfast before going to the game and let me tell you this place was great. Fast service and the food was great. Very tasty. The perfect amount to get us by. I will post pictures. Highly recommend.

LaChelle S.

Yelp
Came here on a random morning with my kid after their doctor appointment and so so glad I did! Called ahead to see if they had a high chair & thank god I did cause they only had 1! No biggie, strollers exist for a reason. We got the 1. Catfish special - 2 filet catfish (fried to perfection btw) 2 over easy eggs and cheesy grits 2. Fried chicken with 2 scrambled eggs and roasted potatoes Grits were okay, I make them better at home so obvi I wasn't expecting home outdoors lol Chicken and fish were PERFECT. Tasty and crunchy. My kid ate it up!! Each plate came with a choice of toast, we got the sourdough (it already came buttered) that's customer service! Not to mention, the waiter looked like he was handling the tables and the register. He did so with kindness, attentiveness and promptness. I was never waiting for someone to check on us for very long. I love Inglewood and moved away from here a few years ago so it was nice to come back and feel that community feel again Prior to getting the check, a young lady checked on us (we sat outside) and promptly got us our check and some to-go boxes. 10/10 would recommend. Really appreciated the service and quality of food. Next time we're in the area, I'm bringing the hubsters
google avatar

Bella B.

Yelp
Went ordered my food lady Told me 20 minutes. I notice people coming in after me getting there orders. So I notice I was waiting for 45 minutes worker never said let me check your order so I asked her what's going on she stated let me check. I'm guessing my order was lost she came to me to reread my order I asked for a refund she is like no it's coming right out. See I like to try new spots and I order a lot but the food was terrible not good at all and I was sick right after. I was surprised figured it will be good but it wasn't. Eggs had no seasoning but I wouldn't go back not a good experience.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
Sooooooo read great things about this place on Yelp on Social Media. My husband got The Bully Omelette and seems to enjoy it. I'm rating 3 stars for my food and experience. Food wise I ordered The Overload Sandwich and asked for no tomatoes and the aioli on the side....neither of those requests were honored. I'd have sympathy if the place was packed but it there was no one there, no line out the window. And the amount of potatoes I got relative to all the pictures seemed off.... like barely 2 bites worth. Secondly, online it says that they accept credit cards but they're actually cash only, at least for now...they should probably update that online. Overall the food was cool and maybe during normal times the experience would be better?
google avatar

Benita W.

Yelp
We were up in LA for a concert and wanted breakfast. Found this place. Food was excellent, service was awesome. We went back the next day before we went home. Going back in 2 weeks with our family who's coming in from Montana. Shrimp & grits, catfish, waffle were so good!
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the staff are very friendly. I highly recommend the fried catfish
google avatar

Kimmy H.

Yelp
Delicious food and excellent service!! Their chicken and waffles are better than Roscoes sorry but I can't with the greasy feathers on my wings at Roscoes lol The chicken was light crispy very flavorful not greasy, the waffle was tasty, yummy eggs sunny side up, Good Coffee w/ vanilla creamer not pictured. I glad we stumbled across this place... enjoy.
google avatar

EJ J.

Yelp
Delicious, but a little pricey... $25.30 tax included. So if you don't mind paying for what you want, you're good!
google avatar

Aja B.

Yelp
Loved the food but was not expecting the jump in prices. The menus listed on yelp state that the 4 piece wing and waffle dish was only $17 as of 10 months ago. However, their online menu now has this dish at $23. When I asked about the price discrepancy I was told that prices just increased a month ago. A $6.00 increase for chicken is a bit ridiculous. The chicken was freshly cooked and season to perfection and the waffle was very tasty. I would go back, but this will be a once in a while luxury at those prices.

Miguel V.

Yelp
Great food. And the customer service Melissa provided was top tier. I'm from out of town but will be coming back next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

DeAndre G.

Yelp
This spot was right under my nose and I had not heard of it but I'm glad I did because the food was delicious and the service was great. I had one of the breakfast sandwiches and one of the waffles as well and both were wonderful. I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Kyla D.

Yelp
Came here with my mom and brother after picking him up from the airport. I'm so glad we did because that Belgian waffle was phenomenal! I can't wait to go back and try more of their food.
google avatar

Donna A.

Yelp
Best waffles I've ever had! Warm, buttery, fluffy and flavorful. Simple eggs/bacon were also good and the side of breakfast potatoes were seasoned to perfection. Also, the shrimp & grits with garlic toast were very flavorful and scrumptious. Prices are high. Coffee was basic. Tentative and friendly server.
google avatar

Johnte H.

Yelp
This lil hole in the wall spot have some good food. I had crispy fried catfish that was cooked perfectly with Cheesy grits!!!!!

Keisha M.

Yelp
I got the shrimp and grits. It basically tasted like lemon grass with raw chucks of garlic and cheese sprinkled on top (there more garlic than cheese). I personally don't like lemon and will not be ordering this again. Its a good portion size. I got a side of egg, I got 2 eggs for $1.5, that's a good price and the toast is done very well. The service was good as well. My food came out fast (I was the only one in there anyways).
