Best tomahawk I ever had. Came for my fiancé's birthday and Ruth Chris did not disappoint. Her ribeye was amazing. The sides? Top notch. Drinks? Divine. Dessert? Stupendous. We were helped by Garrett and he went above and beyond to make our first time feel extra special. We will be back. Can’t recommend coming here enough.

You can reserve your table online and 6th street is open so it’s easier to take an uber or drive up to the restaurant for parking. The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious. Perfect spot for intimate birthdays.

We celebrated my mother's birthday at Ruth's Chris in Downtown Austin. Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked just as we requested. We will definitely be going back!

She walked us through the different steak cuts with confidence and clarity, even recommending the best knives to use and explaining why. Once she found out we were celebrating our anniversary, she offered us a complimentary glass of champagne—such a thoughtful touch. We ordered the porterhouse, a filet, mushrooms, and the lobster mac. Everything was spot-on. The food was served on warm plates to keep it hot throughout the meal, and the sides were both delicious and shareable. We even had enough to take home. The atmosphere was clean, welcoming, and elegant. A special shout-out to the valet attendant who was working hard solo—he was hustling and still had a great attitude. The GM, Michael, stood out as well. He wasn’t just managing from the sidelines—he was on the floor, carrying food, water, and checking in on tables. That kind of leadership shows. I was honestly nervous after reading all the glowing reviews, but now I get it—they’re legit. I think I’ve found my new go-to spot.

We came in with a group of 10 people, both Josh and Shelby made sure we had all the accommodations we needed. Their energy and expertise helped complete the dining experience we were looking for. I highly recommend you request either of them if you are in the area and looking for a great meal.

If you’re lucky enough to be at the bar when Faith is bartending, your night is already a win ! She’s got an amazing mix of professionalism, charm, skill, and intuition that makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time. Her drinks are top tier, and the way she connects with people is effortless, like catching up with a friend who just happens to make the perfect cocktail :) Faith makes connections that people remember long after they close out ! She knows what people need before they do, handles the bar like a pro, and always adds a little extra magic to the night <3 It’s obvious she loves what she does, and it makes the whole experience better for everyone. 10/10 she’s the kind of bartender that makes you want to be a regular at whatever bar she’s behind !

One of the Orginal Steak houses un Austin...Same older Building with a remodeled interior blending originality and upscale dining. Still cooking up great dishes, Lemon drop and old fashioned Cocktails are amazingly great... Good old genuine conversations are still a thing in this great place. Staff is on point A+

Service was amazing, Shelby was super amazing. Very fast and knowledgeable about the menu. The manager was very nice also. This was my first time here and the food was to die for. I usually go to Perry's, but I may have a new favorite spot now.

We dined here on Valentine's Day 2025. We opted for Valet parking from the restaurant. It was $15 which is not abnormal for valet parking in Austin. The ambiance was fantastic - quiet enough to have a conversation but not so quiet that you felt like you're in a library. The service from our waiter was outstanding. He recommended a few side dishes and appetizers that were perfect for both of us. He also was kind and packed up our leftovers for us. The food itself was very good. Both steaks were cooked to perfection, calamari was crispy but not oily, sides were very indulgent and delicious. Pricey, but very worth it.

LOCATION + Very close walking distance to Hilton, where we stayed. SERVICE -was good, but could have been better as for as making recommendations. I wish my server would have asked us if we were celebrating any special event so we could have taken a cute photo for our 22nd anniversary. FOOD +was just as delicious as I remember from my first visit at the SATX location. Very generous portions, 3 of us shared a side of potatoes and broccoli, and had leftovers. VALET +service was great! Casual attire is ok since it is located in a popular social downtown area.

Faith was our server, she was so friendly and considerate. We originally scheduled our dinner for 615pm and ended up getting into downtown sooner than expected, they sat us right away, an hour early! Everyone loved the bread, even requested seconds and one to take home. The lobster tail was to die for, shrimp was also tasty, all sides are definitely shareable and delicious. Everyone loved their main dishes. We also ordered crab stuffed mushrooms and calamari, was not able to snag a photo but definitely recommend. Above all the atmosphere was calm, we went out as a family but would recommend for a date night occasion as well.

Always a lovely experience at Ruth Chris! Their staff is top notch on customer service. This visit we started with Goat Cheese & Artichoke Dip and Crab Stuff Mushrooms. Both were divine, but the Dip.....WOW I need to learn how to make this at home. Absolutely my favorite of the whole meal! For salad I had a Caesar Salad. That was fresh and delicious. The main course I had the Chilean Sea Bass, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus. The potatoes were my fav they were velvety smooth and packed with flavor. The Sea Bass was a bit on the drier side. I probably will not order this item again. Decent flavor, but just not for me. I was trying to stay away from red meat this evening. The dessert of Chocolate Sin Cake was decadent and I could only eat half. A must for dense chocolate lovers.

Business dinner with set menu. There were a lot of us. The food was good and my well done filet was perfectly cooked and tender. The family style sides were chosen for us but everything was good. Service was very prompt and polite.

As always everything was amazing. The portions, the service etc etc etc. always top notch food, service and atmosphere.

Decided to spontaneously come here with my parents on a Friday night, and was able to get a reservation an hour from our spontaneous decision. The restaurant itself is nice, decorated and on par with other steak houses. I ordered the "Ruth's Classic- Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail." I chose Lobster Bisque for the Soup, and was pretty disappointed with how the soup tasted. I'm a huge fan of Lobster Bisque and had it from many places. This specific serving was very subpar. The steak, lobster tail, and mashed potatoes were very delicious. It saved my poor experience from the Lobster Bisque. Although the main entree itself was good, I rate this restaurant 3/5 because of the Lobster Bisque and how I found hair/ crumbs on our table.

Beautiful location and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Our server accidentally spilled drinks on two of our guests, and mistakes happen. They took care of it immediately, assisted the spilled upon parties in the bathroom, and the manager came out to help and give us his info for the dry cleaning bill. Despite that hiccup, our server was still amazing as we ordered and had dinner. The steaks are as flavorful, perfectly cooked, and tender as we have always remembered and expect from Ruth's Chris brand. The crab cakes continue to be a family favorite, and the chocolate sin cake was divine. We will be back, definitely!

We were visiting from out of town and chose Ruth's Chris to celebrate our Anniversary as the food is always delicious when we dine there in our home state (Hawaii). The food was great as always. The service was excellent from the moment we were greeted as we walked in and our server, Katie, was exceptional. The team made our Anniversary celebration even more memorable. We will be back next time we are in town again.

Our host, Nomerica, went above and beyond expectations! It was my son's Graduation from UT-Austin and we had 10 guest. Ruth Chris, Josh ( our waiter ) and Nomerica left no stone unturned. They went over the top to make sure we were accommodated. Service was exceptional, atmosphere was fantastic and the food was delicious! Thank you

Love Ruth Chris BUT the one on 6th st, Austin it Was just OK. Nothing to write home about. Definitely NOT commanding $300.00+ for 3 adults. Steak was just OK. Cattlemen steakhouse was better. And that's a chain restaurant. Service was Great. Steak house maybe another Steak restaurant would be better in Austin.

The best move is coming to Ruth Chris for happy hour and sitting at the bar watching tv. You really can't go wrong with their happy hour prices and selection. I got the filet and shrimp on happy hour, it wasn't the best filet but for the price it was fine. We split the fried zucchini fries and Caesar salad. My boyfriend ordered the steak sandwich. He said it was alright - next time he wants to get the burger. Staff was nice. My only complaint was the other guests dining at the bar were extremely loud and annoying which is surprising for behaving like that in a steakhouse right next to the dining room where others can hear. Otherwise, we will be back for another happy hour.

9/10. No left overs. We ate everything. Wedge salad... perfect Creamed spinach.. delish Potatoes au gratin .. good but some seemed a little undercooked/hard Steaks. Really good. Sad that I didn't order a bigger steak. Sometimes they can cook unevenly if they are small. I had the oz filet but tmit looked a little smaller oz. Next time I'll get the 11 oz. Service was great. Although it was 30 minutes of standing in heels on mother's day despite reservations. All around a great mother's day meal.

To me, it's all about how you're treated. We made reservations for my birthday and arrived a little bit early, other people were milling around the bar area. I was told there would be at least a one-hour wait. Why do people make reservations or receive reservations if the establishment will honor them? Going on 2 hours wait, management suggested to all the people waiting that the tables in front of the bar were available for use, but nothing in the dining area could be used at this time, So They wanted to make their place seem full for all new arrivals by only seating people with reservations in the window area? The food was ok, the server was excellent and tried to be understanding under the circumstances. Management never shown his face again, Ill never go back,

Went with my 89 YO Gammy how wanted to treat me to a very nice "memorable" dinner. There are several very disappointing miss steps throughout our meal. For starters, I requested the salad with dressing on the side. The salad arrived dress. The Romaine was anything but crisp. A soggy mess could not even taste the lettuce. I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye. By definition the Cowboy is a thicker cut than a regular Ribeye and is French cut exposing a longer bone. The steak was practically drowning in almost a stick of butter, vs. a dollop. Could not even taste the flavor of the steak it just tasted like butter. The final problem was Gammy's Filet was undercooked. She had loaded her plate with multiple sides, when she requested it be cooked a little more. Upon her steak returning to the table her sides were missing. Their quality has certainly gone down many rungs from my last experience there several years back. Super Disappointment, but it was memorable!

We first got there and sat at the bar had several waitresses walk by for the first half Hour or so then we had to stop one to ask if we could get a water. The food was ok nothing to write home about. But serv Ce was worst I have had in a restaurant

The overall experience was great! The Chef's special is a must, steak was cooked to perfection and the butter sauce made it taste great. The service was good and the ambiance was nice. I would definitely recommend.

Met friends here after work and took advantage of happy hour specials. It was early evening on Tuesday, so there were plenty of seats at the bar. The bartender, Chance provided excellent service! As soon as we took our seats, he was there delivering glasses of water, asking for our drink orders. He answered questions and offered options. When he returned with our drinks and a loaf of bread, we placed our food order. The happy hour menu includes appetizers and sandwiches at a reasonable price. It didn't take long before our delicious shrimp appetizer arrived, followed by our sandwiches. The steak sandwich was great and the fries were phenomenal. The setting made for a nice early dinner with friends, allowing us to unwind and catch up. We were all amazed at how reasonable our delicious meals were, and we plan to return soon for another happy hour experience.

Everything was outstanding from the greeting at the front door through paying the bill and dessert! The Austin location still does it Ruth's way!

My medium rare steak came out raw. The service was terrible. Bad experience. Will not be back.

I've always heard great things about Ruth Chris- so we decide to go while in town and celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was really nice, and clean. The staff were super helpful, and kind. You're paying for the experience and I feel like it was overall a great dining experience. The food it self was yummy- my steak was cooked a little more done then I would have liked (it was medium instead of Medium Rare) and the side dishes were a little cold (creamed spinach, garlic mashed potatoes). But overall it was yummy.

Another fantastic experience, wonderful wait staff and team. Food was great as usual, classy interior.

The food was great and a real treat, but the service led by our waiter Bobby was top notch. I never found myself looking for my water topped off and everything was delivered efficiently without too many interruptions to great conversations.

Anniversary dinner on a Sunday evening. Pleasantly surprised with an anniversary card and rose petals on our table. The ambiance was pleasant and as expected in a moderately high end steak restaurant. I was somewhat disappointed the after the maitre'd told us to wait as our table was prepared and yet when we arrived at the table it was still set for four persons. Why? We both ordered adult beverages off the menu, a Pomegranate Martini ($15) for my wife and an Old Fashioned ($15) for me. The drinks were prompt and well balanced. Nice start. We then ordered the Sizzling Blue Crab Cake appetizer ($28). The appetizer was well prepared and hot although a bit on the small size. I wouldn't say it was a mouthwatering start but underwhelming and kind of bland but hey it was hot when it arrived. We both order the filet, medium rare. I got the 11oz ($62) and my wife the 8oz ($52) and loaded baked potatoes for us both ($13 each). The steaks were presented on an extremely hot plate with the potato as a side dish. The steaks were cooked a perfect medium rare. Maybe it is me but I enjoy a hint of flavoring on my steak in the form of some garlic or something and there was not a hint of that on these. If you just want "meat" then I guess it was perfect. Just not for me. The potatoes were HUGE, at least one pounders which is what the menu indicated. They were appropriately apportioned with condiments although I did ask for a little more butter. Of course they served bread with butter. The butter was room temperature so easily spread on the bread. The bread itself may have been baked in their kitchen but didn't stand out. Just bread. All in all a pleasant evening with an OK meal. I don't mind spending over $200 for a meal a couple of times per year but have started to figure out even when you spend that kind of money you really are not getting anything extraordinary. The food was good, the service was attentive, and it was a pleasant anniversary dinner. 3 stars for meeting and not exceeding expectations.

My wife has never dined at a Ruth Chris restaurant, so we're down town Austin, and made reservations to eat. Greater friendly by host who told me I had to remove my ball cap to dine in. That's not a big deal. We were seated in a booth the bar area, where all we get to hear is a drunk woman yelling the F bomb repeatedly at someone in the bar. She was never told to keep it down or asked to leave!! So unprofessional from an establishment requiring me to remove my hat. I am a member of a country club where no hats are required as a sign of respect. Your establishment should also show respect by not allowing drunk people to yell profanities while others are trying to enjoy a nice meal SHAME ON YOU!!!.

My wife and I ate here two nights in a row. The food and service were great. Assistant manager Eddie made it a point to introduce himself personally. We've been to many Ruth Chris around the world and the Austin was one of the best.

The service at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse was exceptional! My husband and I celebrated our three-year anniversary there last night. I had the best raspberry Cosmo to drink, and their sweet potato casserole was absolutely de-lic-ious! We had a wonderful experience here! It was money well spent. We look forward to coming back.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to our waiter and all of the staff at this Ruth's Chris Steak House location for an amazing dining experience! We are here visiting from California. Nothing is open back there so we were pleasantly surprised that we could dine-in. The restaurant itself is so classy and beautiful and perfectly lit throughout. They did a great job with social distancing and masking as well. The service was 100% on point and the meal was excellent and perfectly cooked. I got the filet mignon with shrimp which was tender and seasoned amazingly. I also ordered the garlic mashed potatoes which tasted like homemade. They checked on our table often to make sure everything was fine and the manager even came out to say hello. I was there with my five-year-old daughter and they made it extra special! I will definitely recommend this location to anyone in the area. After dinner, I also recommend taking a nice stroll up to the Capitol building along the Christmas lights streets.

My husbands & I favorite dinner place. more his than mine. we always get the best waiters! this last time we made a last minute reservation because my husband was craving it so bad. we arrived 10 minutes late because we could not find parking & valet did not help us after we tried parking there (there was a open spot) I got to the front & waited a while until someone I've never seen there told me they were closing & I said "I have a reservation at 9, if you guys cant seat us at 9 why does it let me make a reservation for that time?" He said that we could be seated so im not sure why his first sentence to me was that they are closing soon with out even being greeted. Our server Cameron was the nicest we've had & we've had great service before. Even though the kitchen was closing he was very polite & we hurried to order our food. We really appreciated how nice he was as Im sure it sucks staying late for late reservations so we made sure to tip him well. Thank you Cameron for making our dinner wonderful!! I give it 5 stars because other than this night the service & food are amazing.

Was so delicious. My sister wanted to come here for her birthday. The service was good and so was the food. The location can be kind of stressful, since it's downtown it's hard to find parking. We ordered red wine, salad, soup, steak, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts and lobster Mac n cheese. Everything was pretty much as you would expect of a Ruth Chris's creamy, buttery, delicious. Steak melted in my mouth. The only possible complaint I could have is I remember the lobster Mac n cheese being better in Seattle but, it was so long ago I can't really compare. Would definitely come back for a special occasion, but it would be hard to regularly attend a chain when Austin has so many other unique restaurants to try.

We went in with reservations @ 8 Friday evening. Beautiful ambience. Then it went downhill. Our server was very nice, but for some reason the food took a really long time. First the salads then entree. Really long time & it was not very busy. Salads & cocktails were good. Perfect martini. But the filets were overdone & dry. ( I ordered med rare) the shrimp & lobster good but one lobster tail noticeably tastier than the other. The manager made an obligatory quick stop at our table. We didn't feel like a conversation. At the conclusion of our visit, we received a bill with 2 drinks not ours. Of course they corrected that. We've never had such poor service at a Ruth's ...

Cristyl is the most adorable and attentive server - my steak was cooked perfectly and my martini was extra dirty. This was my first time at Ruth's Chris and I will definitely be back!

There are better options for steak at the same and lower prices. Just not exceptional for the price. Server was good. We prefer Capital Grille though there isn't one in the area.

The only down fall to this establishment is that normally you'd have to take out a second mortgage, sell a kidney, and hit at least all the numbers but the power ball to be able to eat here! The food... awesome! The drinks... awesome! The service... superb! The ambiance... decadent! The cost... fall out after receiving the bill high! My wife had gotten me a gift certificate for here a while back and we finally decided to use it. The location is nice... right in the heart of down town. We had a reservation so we walked in gave our name and were seated immediately. Just to give you an idea, when we were looking at the wine list and we found a few that we normally would drink at home... the cost was just a bit more then 5x what we would buy it for in the store. 5X! The steak was of course very good... but even in this supposedly steak masters venue we still could not get my wife's Pittsburgh style steak right on the first try... supposed to be medium rare in the middle and charred on the outside... certainly not blue in the middle. We had to send it back the first time. The true stand out was the Lobster MAC n Cheese. (See pic) it was beyond delicious! A large dish loaded with large chunks of lobster in a creamy butter cheesy sauce cooked to perfection! This easily could of been my meal it was sooooo OooooHHHH My Goddie to HOTTIE!! It has been a while since we ate here and I still dream about this dish! It was AWESOME! Our meal was truly fantastic... but even with the gift certificate the final bill just about sent me into cardiac arrest.... seriously I'm not sure any food is really worth this kind of cost!

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Austin. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience, and Kyle was one of the best waiters I've ever had. The food was fantastic - everything we tasted melted in our mouths--absolutely one of the best meals that we've had in Austin. The Ahi Tuna, Petite Filet, Bread pudding, and Grilled Sea Bass were A+. Highly recommend!

Wonderful dining experience and was taken care of of our waitress Lalla. I love gin and she was able to accommodate me with an off menu gin splash. Loved all our entrees and sides, the sweet potato casserole is like dessert, yum!

Terrible service. I had to get up from my table multiple times to ask for things. They never cleaned off our dirty dishes, unless asked. The food was outstanding, but they need to hire more people. Not worth $700 for our party of six. Disappointed for sure.

I took my friend out to celebrate his birthday recently. We both love a good steak, so deciding that Ruth's Chris would be our destination was a no-brainer! The service was on-point, and the food was nothing short of amazing! Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and gave us some excellent recommendations; he answered all our questions with knowledge and a smile. All throughout the meal he appeared whenever our beverages needed refilling and asked us at appropriate times if he could bring us anything else. On to the food! I ordered the petite filet and my friend ordered a ribeye; we both opted for baked potatoes as well. We started with a lobster bisque soup, they brought out some complimentary bread. The soup was to die for and when our main meal came, our steaks literally melted in our mouths - they were seasoned and cooked to perfection, and done exactly as requested (medium rare). To sum it all up - we enjoyed an exquisite dining experience from the time we arrived until the time we departed. Ruth's Chris hit one out of the park - I have no hesitation about recommending this place to anyone interested in great steaks and/or fine dining :-)

We were served a screw in our food and all we had comped were sides and desserts that we didn't even order. Manager was not really apologetic, made a joke about it lol

My wife and I always loved the Ruth's Chris in Jacksonville and Orlando so when we moved to Austin it was one of the first fine dining restaurants we tried. Honestly, that was 2014 and the experience wasnt that great. Having said that, we've been back a few times and the experience has truly been outstanding. Last nights meal could easily have been the best in 20+ years. Our server, Nikki was gracious and attentive and our order came perfectly. Pros: Ribeye and Filet seasoned and cooked perfectly. Crimini mushrooms the perfect complement. Top notch server and service. Cons: Au Gratin potatoes needed more flavor and were lukewarm. Creme Brulee which is typically heated on top, wasn't. (Although I was offered another but declined) Fabulous time with great food and atmosphere. We'll done (no pun intended)

Without my favorite steakhouse in Austin. I love how they come on a sizzling plate. The au gratin potatoes are some of the best and of course the creamed spinach. They have a wonderful wine selection. The staff are all so knowledgeable and attentive. Patrick was so helpful and made some wonderful suggestions.

I knew Ruth's Chris was expensive, but I was astonished at how expensive they actually are. I understand why their online menu doesn't have pricing. The service was good. The food was good, but other restaurants are just as good for probably a third of the price. We had four entrées, two sides, two glasses of wine and one mixed drink (no appetizers and no deserts) and the bill was in the vicinity of $450 (with tip). They also charged $12 for valet parking. I don't plan to patronize any other Ruth's Chris restaurants.
