Went for anniversary. Our table was ready upon arrival. Devin was our server and she was fantastic. She gave great suggestions and was very tentative. Food came out in course. Generous portions and great taste for everything, I would suggest a light sweater because it was cool in side sitting near the windows. The outdoor area is beautiful and well maintained. Would love to return!

Ate here for my parents anniversary. Our server was so sweet and personable. The food was incredible. I would highly recommend the French onion soup. The bread is amazing as well. But my favorite part was the creme brûlée and they even wrote happy anniversary on my mom and dads! So cute! 🥰

Phenomenal date night location. Jessica's service was top notch. We came here base off a list of most beautiful restaurants in NC and while the view was nice it wasn't quite as good as advertised. The wagu tartar was exquisite, and over all the steaks were above par. However, if you're looking for a fine dining/haute experience you might want to look somewhere else.

The experience was amazing, one of the only places that can actually make a beautiful blue steak without making it rare instead. Wonderful lobster tail and a she-crab soup to die for. Its atmosphere is calming yet inviting. Autumn was an excellent server giving me and my girlfriend great service and being so attentive throughout the entire meal.

This is our second time at Ryans, and I wish it was much more. As always, the food was delicious, the service was great, and wr dat on the deck, which was perfect . Our salads were delightful, and the porterhouse was absolutely fantastic esp with the peppercorn sauce!

For a special occasion, event, anniversary, or friendly gathering this is your place. The overall atmosphere is for those who wish to have a nice dining experience accompanied by the elegant wait staff that is more than accommodating with your needs. The food is prepared to your liking and not how the restaurant sees fit with the chef. The additions to your meal were very good and flavourful. We did not participate in the alcohol portion but the water tasted very clean and very filtered. Parking is not a problem unless it's a very busy evening but should accompany most parties attending. Recommend making reservations for a week or two out if you have a specific day. Recommend for a special evening or splurge days but not the everyday due to the cost. But like I said it's well worth it.

Google
The place is awesome. This is my first time here. My wife took me here for my 50th birthday. I am a very picky steak person. When I say rare, I mean rare. The chef did not fail to impress. The food quality is worth the price. Only con I can say. Out dated, very uncomfortable hard wood, low back chairs.

We went for out anniversary. From the time we walked in to the time we walked out - truly an amazing experience. Relaxing, peaceful, gracious, delicious. Everything was 5 star. We had 4 courses and all were high quality and some the most delicious food I’ve ever had - and I’ve eaten at 5 star restaurants across the country. Good job Ryan’s. This is our new go-to Restaurant for special occasions!

Yelp
Our Memorable Visit to Ryan's This past weekend, we celebrated my wife's birthday with something a little special. She had asked me to take her somewhere really nice -- a local spot we'd never tried before. She chose Ryan's and made a reservation on OpenTable. Truthfully, I'm not the planner in the relationship (she knows this), but I absolutely love her and trust her judgment. She knows me well. We showed up Saturday at 4:30 p.m. -- right when the doors opened. We're at that age where early dinners feel just right. As we approached the door, we noticed the sign which included: "Collared shirts for men." Here's where I started to feel like I had already blown it. I was wearing my best Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt -- fresh from a nearby recent concert, a gift from a friend, and I wore it proudly. But clearly, I was not dressed to code. We walked in with optimism anyway and spoke with the hosts. When we mentioned our reservation, they kindly reminded us about the collared shirt policy, which, as it turns out, is supposedly noted during the booking process, something my wife does not recall seeing. At that moment, I felt terrible -- not for being underdressed, but because my wife had made this plan, picked the place, and even picked my shirt. She was excited, and I wanted it to be perfect for her. After we insisted we did not see the expectation, they said we could still be seated which is a testament to their customer service mentality. I am not sure if this was intentional but we were seated in a far corner of the lowest dining area. As we walked to our table, we were amazed how many other tables were seated. It was literally their opening time when we arrived which means the others were seated before they officially opened. Megan arrived shortly after we were seated. We shared our experience and how we felt. She assured us, it did not matter to her and we were totally good. We actually felt we bonded a bit with Megan. In the end, though, we handled it with humor and love -- just like we handle most things after years together. We ordered drinks and were provided the complimentary bread. We both really enjoyed the warm bread and butter as we perused the menu. I ordered a local IPA and my wife ordered the Pink Old Fashioned cocktail which Megan assured her was delicious. When Megan returned, we placed our orders and my wife took the first sip of her cocktail which she assured me tasted incredible, in fact, she ordered a second one later during our meal, she enjoyed it so much. For appetizers, we ordered the Waldorf salad with honey balsamic dressing and the meatballs. For our entrees, my wife ordered the Halibut Key West with citrus-basil basmati, broccoli and tomato caper beurre blanc while I ordered the Iceberg wedge salad with grilled chicken and a side of macaroni and cheese. We enjoyed each and every bite and my wife decided to order birthday dessert. She narrowed down the selections and asked Megan for her input, She quickly decided the peanut butter pie not only sounded delicious but Megan also highly recommended. While Ryan's might not have been our usual scene, the memory we made -- even just at the front door -- is priceless. This is not a place we will likely return to on a regular frequency but for us it is a great option for a special occasion. Megan was amazing and took great care of us! This was an experience to remember!

Yelp
We went here for the first time to celebrate a special occasion. Pros: The service was absolutely incredible from the moment we sat down. Our reservation was a little later at 8pm on a Saturday, but it was still so busy. But that did not keep the waiter's attention away from us. He was very patient with us and let us take our time in ordering. Food was incredible and we were too stuffed for dessert afterwards, but their dessert menu also sounded amazing. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The dimly-lit ambiance with a candle on the table also added to the fine-dining experience. Cons: I wish I could come here all the time, but this is definitely a special-occasion restaurant due to $$. Would I come back? Definitely!!!

Yelp
My friend took me to Ryan's for my birthday, and it did not disappoint! They take reservations--which I definitely recommend--as it was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday evening at 6. It's tucked away in a little cabin in the woods vibe with a waterfall entry and large windows overlooking the land. Very relaxing atmosphere with dim lighting. We started with the mussels and the burrata. The mussels were absolutely divine--I could've sipped the sauce straight from the bowl. The chilled plates for the Caprese arrived right on time, like the server was keeping an eye on our pace, which I appreciated. They also brought out a nice assortment of fresh bread: pretzel rolls, regular rolls, butter, and a tasty cheddar spread. For entrees, we ordered the seabass and swordfish. The seabass was cooked to perfection--moist, flavorful, and flaky. The swordfish was a touch dry but still had good flavor. Since we mentioned we were sharing, our server thoughtfully brought out extra plates without us even asking. My friend noted we were celebrating my birthday when making the reservation, so they surprised me with a slice of chocolate cake and a candle to cap off the night--such a sweet touch! I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu.

Yelp
Ryan's is our fave for celebrating special occasions, but never without a reservation. Celebrating my grandsons birthday we started with French onion soup (delicious!)she crab soup (the best!) & Caesar salad (a little dry). For entrees we ordered the Chilean sea bass, crab cakes & filet special. All were exceptional! Note: ordering 2 crab cakes in entree is not necessary as they are full of crab & 1 was sufficient- we had a surprise birthday dessert - other than dinner being a bit slow for a Monday night it was a great meal

Yelp
Last night my wife and I visited your steakhouse and were so disappointed. We had the ribeye and the NY strip. Supposed to be prime beef. First it was overcooked, tough as shoe leather and full of gristle, not what you would expect from prime beef. In fact that was the most I have ever spent on a Terrible steak. dean

Yelp
Service was amazing as you would expect. The decor and ambiance was gorgeous as well, especially sitting by the window! Food gets kind of hard to justify for the price. The apps were hands down amazing. I got both soups (she crab and French onion) (5/5), Oyster Rockefeller (4.5/5), and tuna tartare (4/5). Steak wasn't bad, but for the price, I'd rather go elsewhere. It was good don't get me wrong, and apparently I was told I should have gotten the filet, but it's hard for me to justify paying more for a lot less haha. Overall, this place is an experience. I hope you'll go and enjoy it!

Yelp
The experience was incredible. Amazing service right from the start. Seated right away and offered the specials of the day. The ambiance was exceptional. Low tone music played in the background made it easy to have a conversation. Outside seating is available. Servers were very helpful in describing menu options. The food was cooked to perfection as requested. I absolutely had a great time. Just a very Relaxing experience overall. Perfect for a romantic evening with your loved ones.

Yelp
Another galentines meal in the books and it was just as good as it always is. Their duck is still one of my favorite dishes although I went with the crab cake this time. I love that it doesn't have a ton of breading and it tastes so fresh. They have incredible apps and these meatballs were to die for. The service and staff are always top tier.

Yelp
Another fantastic dinner at Ryan's. Definitely still lives goto the hype and is a classic mainstay in Winston. Our server James was amazing and fun. Every bye we had was delicious. We had the Wagu meatballs which were so nice and moist and the sauce rich and lots of cheese. The truffle fries of course do not fail. The pan seared scallops with asparagus so rich and buttery. Cooked just right. The red wine we had also blended perfectly. Great bread service with nice spreads to go with. The pretzel rolls were my favorite. The dessert special was the layered chocolate raspberry cake. OMG. Yes every bite was inhaled. This was a fantastic end to a great meal the raspberry sauce tasted fresh and the cake was moist and just rich enough. They had the place decked out for the holidays . Lots of traditional decor and lights. My only complaint if I had one would be that it's cold in there! Not sure if it's everywhere or just the room we are in . Always guaranteed to be great meal.

Yelp
This restaurant is great for the occasional celebration when you're ready to splurge a little. The ambiance is very intimate with low, dim lighting and a candle on the table. Decor hasn't changed much over the years. The window seats are great, looking down into the woods with some beautiful lights. This place is all ambiance but in my opinion you can get very similar food at a cheaper price at one of my favorite steakhouse restaurants in Kernersville. The food was good, don't get me wrong! I enjoyed a crab cake that was served on a bed of whipped potatoes with a squash medley. I would have preferred the two to be separated. My husband enjoyed the prime filet with whipped potatoes. We also were served rolls and pretzel bread prior to our entree which was nice. Our waitress was great! Kept our water filled and checked on us frequently. It was an overall good experience, and a perfect getaway date night.

Yelp
I made a reservation for a Wednesday at 7pm about 3 weeks early. We ended up arriving about 15 minutes early and they were still able to sit us. I had made a note on my reservation that we were there to celebrate a birthday and the hostess noticed and wished my husband a happy birthday. When we sat down, we noticed there was a good number of people there, but not crazy busy. Our waiter was sweet and also noticed it was my husband's birthday and wished him a happy birthday. We ordered the bread basket which did not cost extra based on our receipt. The bread was great and we liked the cheese that came with it was the best part. I ordered 8oz filet with the scallop potatoes. It was cooked to perfect and it tasted wonderful. My husband got the Beef special, Wagyu Fillet, and it came with the buttermilk whipped potatoes and he enjoyed it! We also ordered a Blanton and a Pink Old Fashioned. The Pink Old Fashioned was strong but tasted great. We got the Crème Brulée for free as a present for it being my husband's birthday and it was delectable. Overall we had a positive experience and would be back here again for a special occasion.

Yelp
Mother's Day at Ryan's. It has become A tradition with my daughter and me. Always delicious. Cocktails, apps and lunch. Pictures prove it all

Yelp
This is a fine dining experience. The decor is super old school with plush carpets and original wood. Cloth napkins and tablecloths. Great wine selection, and the food is incredible. Also the servers are very knowledgable and helpful. I got the chicken breast with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The chicken and mashed potatoes were out of this world. Broccoli was a little plain. I also got a gin cocktail that had lavender syrup that was so refreshing.

Yelp
Ryan's is what I would consider a true old school steakhouse in the BEST way. It's dark, cozy and hidden so the ambiance has some fun romanticism to it. Their menu has so many options and you can't go wrong with any of them. Their seafood is fresh (check out the scallops on special), their chops and steaks are tender and flavorful and always cooked just to your liking. If you're looking for a classic meal I'd recommend the wedge, steak tartare and steak au poivre. I promise you won't be disappointed. If you're stopping by on the weeknight, sit at the bar and enjoy a dirty martini and burger - YUM.

Yelp
The food and appetizers were amazing! I seriously enjoyed the Wagyu meatballs as the appetizer and I just had a French onion soup and a side of mashed potatoes! Hubby had the Jumno Lump crabcakes!
google avatar

Brendon N.

Yelp
I have heard a lot about Ryan's being one of if not the best steakhouse in Winston-Salem and tonight I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. I got their 14 Oz ribeye cooked Medium Rare, for the most part it was cooked evenly throughout with a few spots being on the medium-well to well done side. It was well seasoned and had a nice flavor. However, for a $50 steak I did expect for there to be significantly less sinew which made it quite the hassle to cut through and chew. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes, they were silky smooth and had a nice tang from the buttermilk. The highlight of my meal was the Creme Brûlée. The top was just the right thickness and the custard had a great vanilla flavor. For me, they were a classic steak house with everything you would expect to find at one, but nothing that would necessarily have me jonesing to come back.

Mark W. S.

Yelp
I still love the dining atmosphere here. Had a window table which is just awesome. Our server was very accommodating and pleasant. Our drinks, a G&T and Apple Martini, were really good. A near perfect mix. The bacon wrapped scallops were delicious and may be my favorite appetizer anyway. Next the salads, the Caesar and Wedge were very good. The blue cheese on the wedge almost made me bite my tongue. We both got filet mignon and they were cooked perfectly. This is still one of my favorite restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
Once again our experience on our most recent visit to Ryan's rated 5 stars. Fans of She Crab Soup, we have sampled some good presentations in a couple of other spots, we are always blown away by the outstanding version at Ryan's. We also shared the Colossal Jumbo Lump Crabmeat. It was sweet and succulent and obviously top quality crab. Over past years we have sampled various dishes here and I can honestly say at no time have we been disappointed. This visit, I had the Pan Seared Scallops which were cooked to perfection and my husband had the Duck Confit which met the expectations we have for this place. The server was excellent, friendly and professional. The atmostphere is warm and understated elegance. Do not hestate to dine here. The experiece you will have is well deserving of the prices.

Yelp
A very nice old school steakhouse. Food and service were fantastic. The only reason I have it 4-stars was because of the noise factor. The tables are right on top of one another with not so great acoustics, and our party of 7 struggled to hear each other quite a bit around a big round table. Other than that, top notch in every way!
google avatar

Yelp
Great first dining experience at Ryan's last night for my husband's birthday. Cannot believe we've lived here so long and have never been. We started with the wagyu meatballs, yum! The cheese on top was Devine! For entrees I ordered the 6oz filet and husband with an 8oz filet- only regret he said was he didn't order a bigger steak it was that good. Waitress was super attentive and helped us with some questions we had on the menu. We ordered berries and whip cream for me and chocolate peanut butter pie for him for dessert. Needless to say we were overly full. Love the atmosphere here and warm staff. Will return for our next occasion.

Yelp
Planned this as a special date night for me and my husband. Overall, this is a good spot but we were definitely let down for the price point. My husband got New York strip and I got the filet mignon. Both were good but we've had way better for a cheaper price! I ordered medium rare and it was overcooked closer to medium well. The mashed potatoes were good that we both got and we opted for bread service which was delicious. My lemon martini was good as well. I made a reservation early on in the week but we were seated pretty close to the front entrance and the ambiance wasn't what I was expecting. Our table wobbled and was very close to other tables. I was expecting a bit more quiet and romantic. Additionally the server was present but not as involved as I expected (most higher end steak places want you to cut into steaks to see if they are cooked to your liking and this was not offered). Overall, we won't be going back to this location as we've had a better experience at places much less expensive.

Yelp
Our Galentines dinner at Ryan's was nothing short of exceptional, I'm so ready to go back with my husband! They were prompt to seat us right at our 6 o'clock reservation. Our waiter was simply the best - he made sure our apps came out before the entrees and was very accommodating when we requested condiments and more drinks! The food - man oh man. We started with a round of appetizers - bacon and bleu cheese Brussel Sprouts, the special of wagyu tartare, spinach artichoke and crab dip, heirloom caprese salad, a traditional wedge salad, bread service, and an array of martinis. A few of the standouts from our appetizer round are the wagyu tartare being vinegary watch I LOVED, the cheese spread for the bread, and the pesto on the caprese. But that's not to discount the other apps as they were all amazing! I shared the ribeye with scalloped potatoes with a friend as she got the scallops with asparagus and couscous. The ribeye was cooked to the perfect temp and was seasoned immaculately. The Ryan's butter made it even more luscious. I'll admit I'm not a huge potato person - I'd much rather have a pasta or rice as a side but I could bathe in these scalloped potatoes. They were so creamy and good! The scallops were like biting into butter, just pure perfection. The couscous was tart which added the pop of acidity the dish needed. For my taste I thought the asparagus needed to be cooked a little longer but still had a great amount of seasoning. The only thing I will say about the ambiance is that you could hear a pin drop when we sat at our table. I felt like we had to whisper LOL. And when we didn't, I felt like we were disruptive. A bit of background music in the restaurant could definitely take care of this! To say I'm excited to come back and have another meal at Ryan's is an understatement. Definitely added to the list of favorite places in Winston!

Yelp
Decided to stop in Wake Forest after a ski trip and came across this restaurant based on their positive reviews. We made a reservation for 8 PM, but arrived early (~715) and was still seated promptly. Ordered the bacon crab dip that was very good with lots of crab. Main courses were an 8oz sirloin and 12 oz New York strip. SO GOOD! The flavor was perfect. Paired that with a loaded baked potato and Gouda Mac.

Meleia W.

Yelp
Our waiter was amazing, nice and so super attentive. We were not rushed and enjoyed our meal sooooo much. The dining room lighting is ambient and candles and fresh flowers on each table. Our meal was nothing less than . Steaks perfectly cooked and sides amazing. I could have bathed in the she crab soup!

Yelp
Would try out again, it's a 10/10, they have great service here, and all the staff were nice, the food was so good, I got the macaroni and salmon.

Yelp
RYAN' S Restaurant Review2025.05.24 Party of five, total bill over $700.00 Reservations at 2000hrs Seated promptly... rather slow service Drinks delivered, but during meal a repeat beverage requested, did not arrive. Food: Appetizers delivered, one with inadequate toast points, one only warm not hot. Bread, very tasty, but refill never offered. Main coarse: My filet was excellent but baked potato while tasty was only warm, not hot. One $69 steak ordered med-rare, delivered med- well however as customer made no comment no action taken. French fries tasty but delivered only marginally warm certainly not hot. Lobster was marginal at best. The main coarse seemed to be slow in coming out, my conclusion is it sat out after preparation thus the lack of fresh temperature. Also, food delivered with no cutlery. Only when server notified was cutlery delivered. Desert: One without charge for birthday girl, nice. Both deserts were excellent in all respects. Take home boxes and bags delivered and appreciated. Of note, during most of the meal an extremely loud party of about 12 made conversation difficult. Virw outside through window was attractive. Ratings: Ambiance: 2.5/5 Service: 2/5 Food: 2.5/5 Overall rating for five people at $700: 2/5 Would I ever eat at Ryan's again: No Would I recommend Ryan's to anyone: No

Yelp
Nothing says Winston Salem dining like the iconic Ryan's Steakhouse. If you grew up in Winston it is guaranteed to be enmeshed in some tradition, holiday or special occasion. If you're lucky enough, it's just a place you go for a beautiful meal with top notch service, others save it for that extra special night out. It's always a must for me during the month of December because the old school vintage steakhouse feel is elevated by holiday decorations and a celebratory vibe. And as a bonus, their prime rib which is normally only available on Friday and Saturdays, is available during the week as well. We started with the oysters Rockefeller (a classic) and a bottle of Prosecco, followed by the she-crab soup (so rich and lovely) and bread service which is served with butter and cheese spread. Entrees on this visit were the Blackened Mahi with popcorn grits and asparagus special, prime rib with Brussels and collards and the filet and lobster tail with scalloped potatoes. We finished the meal with coffee and creme brûlée and the coconut cake, which was a featured dessert. Go anytime you want a perfectly cooked steak and an unhurried dinner with wonderful service. Then you can say you've been to Winston Salem!

Yelp
We enjoyed a holiday dinner at Ryan's. Reservation at 7 and sat promptly at 7:15 post enjoying a cocktail in bar area. Slightly surprised they don't have a sommelier but we brought our own bottle and our waiter offered to decant immediately. 100% try the tomato/ chive butter spread served with bread - delish!! Two in our party got the wagyu filet special - and I got the mocha encrusted ribeye - all cooked perfectly to requested temp and flavored well. Sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Finished with classic cheesecake and espresso martinis. Great service and food. Would have preferred a true red wine glass given the vintage we enjoyed - all tables had a universal glass. Otherwise wonderful experience.

Yelp
Ryan's is our go to spot for very special dinners. in fact, we are going there for Mothers Day this year. we have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Great atmosphere as well. Very relaxing.

Yelp
My husband and I were in the Winston-Salem area for my birthday and chose to try Ryan's since it was recommended by a friend who grew up in the area. I was glad I made a reservation in advance since it was a Friday night during prom and graduation season. Our server, Tucker, was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. We started with a cup of their she crab soup and split a wedge salad. The soup was beyond delicious! I can see why it is a must try. The wedge was full of blue cheese crumbles! Bread service included super soft rolls and pretzel bread served with a cheese spread along with butter. For dinner we chose to split a ribeye and truffle fries. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and tasted so tender! I really like creamy horseradish with my steak and Ryan's makes a fantastic one. I was treated to a birthday dessert to go. I chose the crème brûlée. It was delicious even to go. Highly recommend this local steak and seafood restaurant. I can see why it is a WS must go!

Yelp
Please make a reservation for this place, you will not regret it. You can tell that Ryan's has been around for a while when you walk in but it gave me a nostalgic feeling; there's a lot of wooden walls with brick accents but I loved it. Our server Devin was great, paced our meal perfectly and even gave us some candles with our dessert for celebrating our late birthdays! The Melontini martini and bread basket to start were great, that sun-dried tomato cheese butter should be sold in containers! The martini reminded me of a jolly rancher but in the best way possible because I ordered two. We shared a jumbo shrimp cocktail and jumbo they were. I had the she-crab soup and I immediately committed myself to coming back at this point in my meal. The soup was creamy, lightly sweetened from the crab, just amazing. The wedge salad was good too, who doesn't love a wedge salad!? I vowed to myself that the next time I saw duck on a menu that I was ordering it. What a wonderful decision. I was allowed to switch the citrus basil basmati for mashed potatoes. Really wonderful full flavored dish, perfect amount of fat rendered to make this dish moist and overall delicious. Crème brûlée to finish the meal was only right. I didn't notice there was no salt or pepper on the table until our meal was over, I never needed it. Ryan's will definitely be at the top of my list when fine dining in a Winston Salem again.

Phyllis O.

Yelp
Food was great. Ambience is always lovely. Service was terrific. It is one of the few dining places in Winston-Salem that you can say you were really dining. It is rather pricey, but so worth it for the experience.

Yelp
Ryan's restaurant offers fantastic service, a classy atmosphere, and delicious food. Prices are reasonable, but my medium-well steak was slightly overcooked. Nonetheless, the artichoke spinach dip was exceptional. Worth a visit for sure!

Keith G.

Yelp
This is a outstanding restaurant in Winston-Salem, NC. They have always kept a great staff and line of food to choose from. The setting is not what you would expect because it's out in the woods behind another building and you need to know where you are going to get there. I would highly recommend you visit them if you're in Winston-Salem.

Yelp
Ok where do I began. All the time I've lived here. Or all the many times I've seen this place mentioned we have never came for one reason or another. We were so happy with our entire experience. Our waitress Victoria was awesome. The appetizers wagu meatballs was out of this world good. Also spinach artichoke and crab dip was great. Then our entrees. The wagyu steak and potatoes and the gravy almost out stagged it all. Lol. But the steak was cooked perfect. Tender full of flavor. Also we had the halibut fish with red pepper cream sauce and lobster chunks. Food was top notch delicious. And the menu had about 6 other things I want to try. My first visit was great. There will be many more to come. Ryans yall won me over. I shouldve listened a long time ago.

Yelp
Ryan's is a classic that is consistently good. The food was absolutely delicious. The she crab soup is the best in North Carolina. Only soup that is better is in Charleston. Ribeye was aged and cooked perfectly. Always an exquisite dining experience

Yelp
We go to Ryan's Steak and Chops often. Been going since early 80's. We have always had great experience at Ryan's no matter what appetizers, salad, sides, or entree we have chosen. Yes it is old school but that is why we love it. The service is exceptional.

Arrived 25min early for our reservation and got seated immediately. Very helpful and patient server. Perfectly sized portions of high quality food. The greens reminded my date of how her grandmother made them. The requested window table was available with a good view of the surrounding woods.

Yelp
Every year my husband and I eat at Ryan's for our anniversary. They never disappoint. Our waiter was on point. The food is always amazing, the restaurant is so beautiful and cozy. I request a table by the window and near a fireplace. I can't compliment this place enough. Everything is amazing.

Yelp
Food was good as usual, service was terrible. Waitress obviously knew the folks next us and gave them preferential treatment. Also, they are def not enforcing a dress code.

Yelp
Ryan's is a classy steak and chop house with an old style ambiance. It exudes elegance with white tablecloths & an upscale feel. It almost reminds me of a ski lodge? Maybe that's just me lol. Highly recommend reservations here! We were in for a Galentine's Day outing during the week and it was still fairly crowded. They had a great seasonal special on a Valentine's Day martini cocktail that had a cute presentation and was super tasty. All of us ordered an appetizer to share. My favorite was definitely one of the appetizer specials which was a wagyu beef tartare. Their take on a Caprese salad was also completely noteworthy. I loved the heirloom tomatoes and the delicious fresh pesto, with the addition of burrata... divine! The Brussels sprouts were great too. It's hard to choose between steak and scallops... so why not get both? My friend and I decided to split these two and I'm so glad we did. The scallops were wonderfully seared and I was appreciative that there was SIX fairly large scallops in the portion. I loved the couscous that came with it. For our steak option we got a ribeye with steak butter and just wow. The char on that baby was just right and the melty steak butter sent it to the next level. The au gratin potatoes were cheesy and creamy and the just right accompaniment. Also enjoyed was the steak au poivre and the Mahi Mahi special. Our service was awesome and our server had a lot of personality. We really had a great time and I can't wait to return. This is perfect for special occasions!

Yelp
Overrated! I have been here twice and disappointed both times. While the steak is good, and cooked to the right temp, the rest of the meal is sub-par. My lump crabmeat app was literally two small bites and of average quality, the sides (sauteed onions, truffle fries, button mushrooms) were all tasteless. They couldn't even get the whipped cream on dessert right! (It looked but did not taste like whipped heavy cream - not sure what it was... bleh!) Oh, and the bartender seemed to be having a bad day both times we sat there before dinner for a drink. Skip it.

Yelp
The restaurant itself is incredibly beautiful. Right now it is covered in Christmas decorations that are elegant and make the place glow. I was so excited to finally try Ryan's, especially because they are known for steaks and it was my birthday. My fillet was ordered medium and came out done... The whipped potatoes were great and the sea crab soup was lovely but the one thing they were supposed to be known for.. missed the mark. Our server was attentive, but lacked personality. He was fabulous at fine dining waitstaff etiquette but I found him cold and it felt like he was rushing all our orders. I thought that on a weeknight, it would be less busy and more likely to have a better experience. I will definitely try one more time, but for the prices I hope it improves.

Yelp
It pains me to write a less than glowing review of Ryan's because we have always enjoyed excellent food there. But tonight was the exception. We had looked forward all weekto the prime rib for our daughter's birthday celebration, but were sadly disappointed. There was far more fat than meat in our servings. We managed to cut away what meat there was, and it was very good--but when we finished the plates were piled high with the (very expensive) uneaten fat. We will continue to patronize this restaurant because it is usually the best choice for a special occasion. But we will steer clear of the prime rib in the future!

Yelp
Finally made it to this Winston institution and I have to say, my expectations were met and then some! I was charmed by the warm and cozy interior starting with the fireplace seating area as we waited for our table by the bar. Once seated, our waiter was very attentive without being overwhelming and made great recommendations. I ordered the shrimp and grits and they were just delightful. No room for dessert after that incredible meal, but I did state that Ryan's is my new special occasion place to visit. I would love to try the pork chops next but the shrimp and grits were so creamy and delicious that the pork may have to wait! Everyone else in my party was satisfied with their dishes -- the duck and chicken -- and their drinks.

Yelp
Timeless and delicious. I had the pleasure of eating here for my 27th birthday dinner. I picked it due to nostalgia - my family has been eating here since long before I was born, and all of our major birthdays were celebrated here when I was a little girl. I appreciate so much that the service, decor, and ambience has maintained consistent. The food is worth every penny. The filet was for sure the best I have ever had. Ryan's knows what works for them, and they keep doing it.

Yelp
From the ambiance (impeccably cozy for the holidays with the Christmas decor and fireplaces in each room) to the well-trained staff (put my table manners to shame!) - if you order steak, I suggest to order it blackened... truly a completely different flavor experience :) Mondays are half-off bottles! Perfect time to splurge on a special occasion. Love coming here. Perfect for special occasions or just an elevated dining experience. Almost everything is made in-house and it is apparent. This time we ordered the oysters Rockefeller, crab/spinach dip, and tuna tartare for apps (all great) and we all got steaks with various sides.. also great! Had a wonderful time and highly recommend making a reservation in advance.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere and tasty food. For as up-scale as the restaurant is, the prices are not at all outrageous.

Yelp
I'm going to have to go three stars. This is a nice restaurant. The food was good (we had Mahi, chicken and Halibut entrees). The service was a bit slow and they got our order wrong with some of the sides. I noticed a couple next to us sent BOTH steaks back to the kitchen. The building is nice, but it is quite dark. We were seated near a window, but I felt like we went through a cave to get there. Unfortunately we will not be able to go back because the dim light and stairs make it now impossible for my mother to navigate the restaurant. Why don't people invest a little money in handicap access? Frustrating.
