"There are a lot of so-called New York cheesecakes, but since 1960, there’s only been one S&S Cheesecake. And they might make the very best of them. Still made from the original recipe, this smooth, dense cheesecake is only lightly sweet, with a subtle tang, and a soft, delicately browned crust. The flavors available at S&S include strawberry, pineapple, and chocolate, but we’re not sure it’s possible to improve upon the purity and the simplicity of the classic plain. This small cafe is a family business and supplies various local shops and restaurants, including Peter Luger, but their brick-and-mortar bakery is in the Bronx, in Kingsbridge. Open 8:30am-3:30pm weekdays, S&S is a place where the line between decor and storage blurs: a camera tripod here, a podium there, and even a massive antique mixer by the door. It’s all a little chaotic, but that only adds to the charm. photo credit: Molly Fitzpatrick" - Molly Fitzpatrick

I'm one of the original customers. Yes, I am old. Ages ago, S &S was a well kept secret in the catering world. I truly believe they set the standard. My Father was in the food business, and he would bring home the GIANT cheesecakes for parties and family events. It was a special treat. As an adult, I lived with my wife in Riverdale. It was great to be able to get a cake from the Bodega or Candy store on their block. Until recently, I had never seen S & S's gate open, because they worked through the night. I went there 2 days ago and it was a happy sight to see it open, on a very busy street. We also lived in downtown Brooklyn, and I felt that Junior's was all about hype. The obvious difference is quality, and a touristy establishment versus an artist who has always been consistent. The newly self annointed FOODIE experts continuely show their ignorance. But they are loud. I have learned that people who are loud, are usually wrong. Thank you S & S for being a memorable part of my life. Thank you for always being the example of how a quality food business should be run. BIG STANDING OVATION!!!!

I haven’t been there in years, I remember how great it was when you walked in and they were baking cheesecakes and the line was out the door. Bought three cheesecakes today worth $87 and they are horrible! Definitely not the same taste or size as in the past. As someone above stated the crust was raw in the the one that was given to me was probably sitting there for days! My pictures will show! Zagat rated maybe once upon a time but as my wife said I’d rather of eaten a Costco cheesecake. Don’t know if it’s new owbers but I saw a response that they’ve been in business for 60 years, but that doesn’t mean that they are serving quality stuff in 2023, maybe in 1963 till 2021 but definitely not now! The worst, horrible!

4 stars because customer service was great, but the cheesecake itself it’s a 4 out of 10. For a place that’s known for good cheesecake I was very disappointed, the cheesecake lacks in both flavor and texture.

The coffee here was very good but the cheesecake was alright. For a place that pride's itself for it's cheesecake they can do better. The crust was lackluster and the cake itself is not as rich as it can be. It's a 6.5 out of 10 compared to be the best that NYC has to offer. If I was in the neighborhood I would swing by maybe but I am not going out of my way to grab a slice. I do like the owner, the people here and the calm friendly environment. Hence the 4 out of 5 stars.

We ordered two cheesecakes (original and chocolate) from Goldbelly and they were HORRIBLE. The cheesecake tasted like flour and the crust was this weird flakey dough. We brought it to a family dinner and everyone agreed it was bad. I do not recommend.
