"The fancy, verdant New American restaurant within the Commodore Perry Estate is beautiful inside and out. The patio and many tables in the dining room overlook the estate’s beautifully manicured grounds. "If you have dinner at Lutie’s, you’ll technically find yourself at the Commodore Perry Estate—a swanky resort in a restored old mansion across the street from one of the most grackle-laden H-E-Bs in Austin. But once you’ve entered the grounds, you’ll feel more like you’re eating in the gardens of Versailles. If there were ever an occasion to wear bright linen and a large floppy hat, this is it. But despite feeling like a proper garden party, Lutie’s doesn’t rely purely on theme as its primary draw—the service is great, and the food is excellent. "When to get it: Wednesdays, 5-10pm Lutie’s garden scenery is pretty Versailles-ish, making this one of Austin’s swankier happy hours. It's advertised as a "'til supplies last" situation, which means you should probably show up on the early side. Lutie’s serves an American-ish menu filled with some of the best pastries in the city courtesy of co-executive chef Susana Querejazu, plus classy drinks, and brunch classics, such as bagels and lox, crepes, and Gulf shrimp-stuffed omelets. From the velvet seats to the greenery hanging from the ceiling, it’s got a strong Alice in Wonderland vibe and decor that’s a true exercise in maximalism.
