The Children’s Museum of Manhattan is a wonderful place for kids to explore, learn, and burn some energy in a creative way. There are plenty of hands-on activities, colorful exhibits, and interactive stations that really capture children’s attention. It’s the kind of place where they can touch, play, climb, and discover — which is exactly what a children’s museum should be. My child had a great time moving from one exhibit to another, and it definitely kept her entertained. The staff was friendly and seemed genuinely invested in making sure kids had a positive experience. The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because the museum can get crowded, and during busy times the noise level and limited space make it a bit overwhelming. Some areas could also use a refresh or better organization. Overall, it’s a fun and enriching stop for families in NYC — a great way to spend a few hours letting kids learn and play! 🎨🧸✨

Fun for Kids, But Could Use Some Updates My son had a great time at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan—he really enjoyed every floor, and it’s a great place for kids to explore and play freely. It’s definitely a fun, safe space where little ones can burn off energy and learn through play. That said, I’m giving it 4 stars because I feel like some of the toys and exhibits need updating. I get it—it’s a busy place with a lot of wild kids (including mine!), but some areas felt a little worn out. Also, there are only three floors, and once you’ve explored each section, there’s not much else to do. Still, it’s a solid place to visit, especially if you’re looking for something kid-friendly indoors. Worth the trip for sure!

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan is a nice, well-organized museum, especially suitable for younger children. In my opinion, it is ideal for kids up to around four years old. While older children can still enjoy some parts, the activities and exhibits are clearly designed with toddlers and preschoolers in mind. One practical aspect I really appreciated is that coats and strollers can be left at the entrance, which makes moving around the museum much easier and more comfortable, especially if you’re visiting with little ones. The space feels safe and manageable, and everything is set up to encourage hands-on play and exploration. There are also shows running at different times, which adds variety to the visit and gives children a chance to sit down and focus on something more structured for a while. This is a nice break from continuous free play. The toilets are fine and adequate for families, which is always an important detail when visiting with young children. Overall, it’s a pleasant experience and a good option if you’re looking for an indoor activity in Manhattan with small kids, particularly on cold or rainy days.

Saw a lot of 3-4 stars even though everyone agrees this place is old and could use a lot of updates. My daughter did NOT have fun, she was extremely bored right away which is very unlike her. It was very loud and crowded when we went so that could be part of it but it was also just so old and dirty I didn't want her to touch anything. A children's museums but no children sized things??? Why isn't there a kids sized potty and kid level sinks? Bathrooms were so nasty. Tickets for adults and kids are the same. So it adds up. I wouldn't mind paying if it was worthwhile but it was so small and old and dirty, we had an absolutely awful 30 minutes there seeing every floor.

Many different activities for kids! Very engaging and fun! However it was somewhat crowded but I also expected that on a Saturday afternoon.

Its a fun spot for the kids. It has 4 levels of play for them. Its not very big and I look forward to their new location in a few years.

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan is an amazing place for winter indoor activities! My son and daughter had an absolute blast — we spent over 3 hours there, and they still didn’t want to leave. The exhibits are fun, interactive, and perfect for keeping kids engaged and active. A wonderful spot for families, especially on cold days. Highly recommended!

A good place to visit with children. It is not as big as other children's museum i have been to. We ran out of things to do quickly. But staffs are friendly. Fun things to do for kids. Worthwhile to visit once.

Great place for children to explore on a hot day. My granddaughter loved it! Got crowded as the day went on, but still wasn't unpleasant.

Our first time visiting here thanks to my public library Culture Pass for my son (4.yo), husband and myself. We decided for better ease of transport for our very first visit into the city with our son, to opt for the icon parking garage that is directly across the street from the museum. For $45 for 10 hours, it was well worth it since we didn't know how long we would stay at the museum for. We were greeted upon arrival and decided to allow my son to roam. There's actually only 3 floors to explore, with the 4th floor for office spaces. The staff running the museum are young individuals that don't seem to have too much experience working with high energy children. The overall perception was that this museum feels more like a tourist trap than a worth-while museum. The "Dora the Explorer" exhibit that's there for a limited time, looked pretty worn and battered. My son had little to no interest, so we were barely there for 10 minutes. I didn't realize that the water play section was a seasonal exhibit, so it was tough trying to explain to my son as to why it was closed. The one thing that kinda disturbed my husband and I was there was a visiting indigenous artist was hosting a crafting session. I was approached by a staff member for us to participate, even though the age requirement was for 5 years and older. I warned that my son is high sensory and will more than likely not sit down for the activity, but we did try. The introduction was wayyyy too long to grasp the attention of most children, and needless to say we walked out well before the crafting started. The information that was shared during this introduction was not only inaccurate, but also was impressing on children the incomplete picture of our country's vast and deep history of how it has come to be. If we spend less time altering what history should be instead of talking about what it is, our children won't learn. Again, too heavy of a introduction to a simple paper craft. This would be much more suitable for a pre-teen or even teenager that would understand persecution; my 4 year old not so much. The top winners were the sand section and the play fire truck that you could dress up and sit down in. These two sections filled up instantly. The gift shop is right by the entrance/ exit, so it was a mission to get my son out and away from this total cash grab, rip off of a highly priced toy shop. We won't be coming back, unless I get another Culture Pass.

Have been there a few times. I recently went again last month because I was gifted two tickets. They charge everyone ages 1+ the same price. I find it to be a little expensive compared to other children museum's that have more attractions. This museum is good for kids 5 and younger. They have fun things to do, but for the price you might be out of there within 1-1.5 hrs.

I have 3 kids ages 4,7 and 9. My younger is on the spectrum and these people hate kids. Everything he touches, everything he does even if he's just running around while I'm checking in the stroller it's a problem. Stop hiring young people with no families who are fake nice and condescending to parents. I was a member and when it expired I will never spent another penny here. I full on hate this place. They also tell you you can't order uber eats. Like you can order uber eats anywhere on this planet why not here? Can't eat inside also. Literally a prison with people who look for any small thing to make it a big deal. The museum may be cheap but the staff makes it so stressful and ridiculous that I don't ever want to step foot in there. Shame on you! You never changed a diaper in your life but have so many opinions on raising kids. CMOM staff, all of you are a bad joke

The museum initially wanted to charge me $33 for my daughter and I but luckily I showed my city ID and they discounted it down to one ticket, which was $16.75. I still had to pay for my daughter which was ridiculous since she was so little. I wish they waived the whole fee together. Anyways, the museum was pretty small and different than the Brooklyn Children's Museum that I attended first. This place doesn't allow strollers or any carts in so if you have small children or babies then prepare to carry or let them walk. This place has a couple of exhibits that gear towards 2 years and older and didn't think carefully and took my 1 year old who didn't really understand anything except the Superpowered Metropolis, which got her hooked and excited. There were 2 water stations of towns where you can play with the flowing water, stacking blocks, fish, star, and boat toys. They provide raincoats and stools for short kids to reach the water station. The following are the exhibits: Lower Level (outdoor) - Superpower Metropolis exhibit 1st floor - Inside Art: Create, Climb, Collaborate Exhibit 1st floor - Dynamic H2O exhibit 2nd floor - Adventures with Dora and Diego exhibit 3rd floor - PlayWorks exhibit

Make sure to keep in mind the age group for visitors, which is for 2-6 year old children. Any younger and your child won't be able to get much out of it (and will probably be intimidated by the older kids). Any older and it may be boring. My daughter was 5 1/2 when we went and quite frankly she was too old for it. I was a little underwhelmed. The entrance fee ain't cheap, but I saw dated exhibitions and old equipment. The staff barely interact with children, other than yelling at them when they do something wrong. They place the materials and just tell kids to do stuff on their own. Restrooms could be kept cleaner. Honestly, I have no reason to go back, and not just bc of the fact that my daughter is past this age. This place needs some serious tlc and newer more exciting exhibitions.

The exhibits that they have are fairly limited, although fine. The space is tiny for a children's museum, so there isn't a lot they can do.

I visited New York with my mom and my four-year-old son a couple weeks ago, and when I looked up things to do with small kids in the city, the Children's Museum of Manhattan was one of the first things that popped up. I was excited to find it, and immediately bought tickets for the least scheduled day of our trip. We went on a Thursday, for about an hour total, and while it wasn't a total bust, it wasn't really worth going to, either. I spent almost $40 on tickets--$16.75 each for me and my son, and $13.75 for my mother. I didn't do my research, obviously, and I figured this would be our activity for the day, and we could eat while we were there. As it turns out, the Children's Museum doesn't offer any kind of food, and you're not even allowed to bring your own lunch or snacks into the building. This puts a pretty short limit on how much time you can spend here with a small child. On the plus side, I can't imagine wanting to be here for more than a couple of hours. It took us maybe 20 minutes to see every exhibit on the main floor, and while these were cool, a collection of interactive art projects geared towards children, they were also both too complicated and too boring for my kid to enjoy. I'm honestly not sure who the museum is for, unless the answer is parents on Instagram. Any kid old enough to appreciate the art as art is likely too old to enjoy the meager entertainment it provides as play equipment. My son did enjoy attaching soft shapes to a velcro wall. Otherwise, he did maybe one lap around the floor and the only other thing that caught his attention was a box of Magna-Tiles, which we have at home. We never made it past the first floor, but it looks like there are more traditional indoor playground areas on the upper levels. I've been to enough of these in Los Angeles that I didn't feel the need to see them in New York, and anyway, we were all hungry. We hit the store on our way out and bought a few New York subway magnets. My son loves New York, and the subway is by far his favorite attraction. If I lived in the area, I might make good use of the Children's Museum of Manhattan. But if you're just in town for a short trip, there are plenty of better, cheaper things to do with your kids.

My five year old was okay with this place but didn't love it. It is a bit small but if you only need to kill 1-1.5hr you might be able to do it here. Just don't expect to spend more time than that in the museum. We've been to children's museums in other cities that offered a bit more than what was here. My seven year old might have been bored had she been with us, so I do think kindergarten / 5 years old is the max age for enjoying the space.

Located in beautiful neighborhood of upper west side, this museum is more about activities then museum stuffs Kids can easily spend 3-4 hours here. Tickets are priced considerably cheaper, about $17 for adults. They allow same day re-entering to the museum, so guest can easily step out for food or other things and come back. There are four levels, each level focusing on different aspect of kids physical and cognitive development skills.

I brought my 1 year old niece here and it was ok. It's a great place for younger kids to have some fun, but it seems a bit dated. My niece did enjoy the toddler area and she loved the trains as well. She's still at that age where she wants to taste everything and I didn't want her to put everything in her mouth. Luckily it was free because her parents have a museum membership.

Fun place to bring your little kid or kids when it is hot, rainy or cold outside if you are in the upper west side. They have four floor (basement, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor) for you to explore. In the summer, they have an H2O exhibit to explore. The admission price is average for the area. They allow same day admission, so you can go in the morning, go outside to grab lunch and come back for the afternoon. As of September 9, the admission prices are as follows: General admission is $16.75, Senior is $13.75 and for Infant (under 1), it is free.

Good way to spend rainy afternoon. Was very busy on Sunday. Impressed either way coat check operation which was very efficient. Museum on four floors. Expensive for tickets. More like an activity center than museum.

We had a great time with our Little at CMOM. We were able to get tickets for a weekend visit and they had it set up by entrance times. Parking was not terrible. It was a Sunday and we lucked out down the block. Upon entry, our tickets were scanned and I love that they have a coat check. We probably could have left our stroller in the car. My kid was almost 4 so she could have walked the entire time we were there. It would have also made getting around that much easier. The first room was pretty busy so we saved that one for last. It was interactive. We were able to make a DIY arts and craft satellite. Babes was able to play pretend president and learn about important women in history (loved that art wall). There was lots to see and do and the layout was very easy to follow. The signage helped. Superpowered Metropolis was a great floor to visit on the lower level but there were lost of families kind of just lingering and trying to get some time to try things out was difficult. There's really no concept of, "everybody gets a turn". You almost have to shame people into letting your kid have a look. It's crazy, even with timed entry. Adventures with Dora and Diego was fun and exciting for out Little but again, kids are pushy and some parents don't teach boundaries. We basically just took our time walking through so that our daughter would be able to experience as many things as possible. The Playworks floor was cool. Alphie, the alphabet dragon sits in the center of the room and tells the kids a letter if they placed the corresponding letter in the mouth. It was pretty cool there are books to read as well. It would be great if they had staff that monitored the floors and made sure that families don't hog the exhibits. Regardless, though, our had a blast and did not realize people were being greedy. We spent a couple of hours and were able to grab a bite right around the corner at Maison Pickle. There are plenty of places to eat in the area so you can definitely make a day of it. Had it been warmer, we could have walked the two blocks over to Central Park and really balled out.

I have always loved the children's museum for the simple fact that kids can be entertained for hours. The museum has art and craft activities at certain times. When we went on Saturday there was a pizza making craft activity that my daughter enjoyed. The staff is super friendly. My favorite exhibit is the water works. My daughter loves water play! I also like the new art exhibit on the first floor. The sensory tiles are my fave and there's a mural you can color with markers. I do think that over the age of 7 it might get kinda boring .

What a delightful spot for kids! Our visit with my 4-year-old son was fantastic. The place offers abundant opportunities for exploration and play--a vast playground resembling a giant kids play house with sensory experiences. Although the museum was smaller than anticipated, we happily spent hours there. After four hours, my son grew tired and dashed towards the exit. The staff were all incredibly kind and accommodating. Each floor presents new and exciting things for children to discover, and I especially enjoyed the arts and crafts area with its enormous coloring wall. I highly recommend this spot to all parents. Pro tip: The museum extends free admission to Blue Star Families, EBT/SNAP Card holders, and participants in the Cool Culture Family Program.

My kids are 1, 5 and 7. All of them enjoyed it very much. I will say my 7 year old may grow out of the excitement of the newness after a couple visits. But for my 5 and 1 year old I could see myself getting a membership. I could come here everyday with my one year old and he would LOVE it. You can check in strollers and coats at the door for free which was really nice too.

We had a fun time here. We booked tickets for their opening at 10am. It was good to arrive at this time because it wasn't very busy. Families starting trickling in as the time went on. After you check in at the front, you make your way to the first floor's activities. There's a giant house for the kids to play in. It seems more like an art installation that's relevant for the kids. Next to it are a few tables to do crafts. They have lots of supplies. From this first floor you can either make your way down to the lower level or up to floors two and three. We started at three. On the third floor they have a lot of fun things to do. There's a fire truck and bus that the kids can drive. There's a small super market space with plastic fruits and veggies. There's an alligator that "eats" letters and says which ones they are. There's a small fort/structure area along with some DIY rollercoasters for little balls. On the second floor had a Dora and Diego theme. There's a small spot with some musical instruments. There's a little station to play with stuffs animals and perform medical checkups. There's another structure with a small slide. The lower level seems more up to date than anything else. They have a train set, and other fun activities that stimulate the kid's senses. Overall it's a fun spot. We live down the street and this is our first visit. A lot of the activities are older but they seem to be in pretty good shape. Things were clean when we went. The place seems popular as it does get quite busy.

what a disappointment. very expensive. just a glorified indoor playground. we were kicked out at 4.30 instead of 5 on top of everything. would not recommend.

My kid just turned 6. He still enjoyed his morning here but I think this museum is more for kids 1.5-5. For 15$ per person you can spend the whole day here. There are in and out privileges (like If you need to leave to eat lunch) as long as you get a stamp on your hand before you leave. The favorite floor is floor 3 so you might as well go there first. We spent almost 2 hours on this floor. I can see that this museum is beginning to run down and some things would soon need to be updated or replaced. But at this moment, I guess it's still ok.

Nice place to take the kids i use to go here when i was a kid if you have a baby - toddler it's best to go during the week while the bigger kids are in school they host lots of fun events and art projects for the little ones a nyc staple

Cute place for kids to escape the rush of the city. I would recommend fir children 5 and under. There were 3-4 levels were the children can explore, learn, and create. They have arts and crafts for children of various ages. There aren't many children entrainment options on NY especially when the Broadway shows are cancelled and its cold outside. We were grateful to find somewhere for our child to enjoy for hour

This place is very nice for kids, especially toddlers. There are four floors of fun activities for them. It gets really busy. My toddler has so much fun that she ends up exhausted every time we go there.

My dad and I took my 5 and 3 year old nieces here this summer and they had a great time. We went on the last Friday in June around noon and we were delighted that the place wasn't crowded. The museum features five floors of hands-on exhibits for children ages 1 to 8. My nieces favorites were: +The Eat, Sleep and Play exhibit where they got to run around and play games, drive a bus, and pretend to sleep. +The PlayWorks exhibit where they got a chance to drive a fire truck and manage a deli. +The Adventures with Dora and Diego exhibit where they got to learn about animals' natural habitats and plan a fiesta with Dora. We spent two hours at the museum before my nieces got bored and were ready to leave. I found the museum to be a fun, informative and worthwhile way to spend the afternoon with children. General admission to this museum costs $15 for each adult and child over the age at 1; however, you can visit for free by taking advantage of one of the following perks: +The Museum offers free admission on the first Friday of each month from 5-7pm. +New York City residents can reserve a culture pass through their local library to gain free admission to this museum for up to 4 people.

More like a play space than a museum. That being said , it should be less money for admission. Should have separate areas for small babies

My daughter enjoyed the shadow puppets and the dragon art project. This children's museum is geared more towards 1-4 year olds. Lots of baby toys and interactive art projects. It does not have a lot of science or animal related exhibits. It has more learning alphabets and art exhibits.

After many years of waiting for a Friday off to dedicate to visiting this museum with my little one for Target First Free Friday's, we finally made it. This was a very underwhelming museum experience for me. The reality is that children will have fun doing anything, including playing in the mud. We've visiting museums through Connecticut, Long Island, and the remainder of the Tri State but for an upper west side museum, this place needs renovation and work! This museum is only ideal for toddlers. We arrived early to grab a spot in line for the 5:00 door opening. Staff was organized and friendly. We checked in and began viewing the new Japanese exhibit. They turn the first floor into a mini version of Japan to educate the children on culture through food, travel and landscape. The karaoke booth, bento box food station and wishing tree were very cute. This was the best floor to me as a fan of Japanese culture. My daughter wrote a wish for a baby sister and hung it on the tree so that the horse whisperer could deliver it to "Kami"to grant it some day soon. Adorable concept. Next we visited the floor with Dora the Explorer's safari, jungle and Pet Doctor station. This was not age appropriate. More for 1-4 year olds. Outdated and boring. We then moved along to the next floor which featured "movers and shakers" very similar to the Long Island children's museum, they offer a little town, wooden cars, fire trucks, fire station and pretend MTA buses for all the kids to squeeze into and use their imagination. This floor also features a small play area with a dinosaur to climb and jungle gym. Underwhelming. We met briefly on this floor with some NYU students that were conducting a study on how children view race and ethnicity. Interesting stuff! We moved on to do some painting in one of the rooms. Nothing special about this. Just paint and white paper. We made a trip downstairs to the basement for some free play on the dance floor. This whole room is dedicated to dance with music playing and lots of old costumes for the children to put on and free play. Very chaotic down there. Very messy. Last we went to the 4th floor where there were magnetic blocks. This was ideal for 1-4 year olds again. If your children are 5 and older find somewhere else to take them. The Museum of Natural History is more worth your while. This place just reminded me of a NYC public school turned into a " museum". Also, there's no vending machine or cafe. Pack lots of food for your kids. The restaurants in this area are terrible and not kid friendly.

SAVE YOUR MONEY this place is TRASH!!! My kid fell asleep in the stroller on the way here and I already paid so came in anyway, was immediately told i could not bring the stroller in and had to sit by the door. OKAY no prob. I sat down two seconds after i sat some obnoxious employee came up and said she had to rope off the place for "all the people coming in" and i had to move - literally i was not blocking ANYTHING (see pics). I said i cant go in i cant sit by the door would you like me to be outside in the rain? I then proceeded to request a refund which i was denied and told i was being "aggressive" lol bc what i asked for my money back? Sis you haven't seen aggressive . I moved their stupid rope and sat down and said I'm not leaving until i get my money back or otherwise im staying here. They then sent the poor security guard to kick out a mother with a sleeping child into the rain, after ten minutes of "arguing" with me he gave up and walked away (he didnt really argue as i was CLEARLY right). Anyway this is the shi* hole this place is. This is how they treat mothers and children so beware of this upper westside nightmare. First and last time for me thats for sure. Im sticking to the Childrens Brooklyn museum where kids are actually welcome.

My experience was not the best! The website states that they clean and sanitized everything. I went and took my 13 month old daughter. After going to every floor I don't believe it's true! We went really early as soon as they opened. There was so much dirt and dust on the floor. Especially the baby section! It states no shoes and I did as so, but I saw a lot of dirt on the floor for my baby to crawl. I took a wipe and cleaned the area she was crawling. I went to places that kids normally sit, and it was stained. Definitely not worth it! And not coming back! They need to do better and clean and wipe everyday. The bathroom on the third floor is the best it has a baby area to change their diapers. On the 1st floor I needed to put paper towel and sanitize the area to change my babies diaper. Definitely not coming back.

Bleh, this museum sucked lol. I couldn't rush my son out of there fast enough. I've never been disappointed in a children's museum this bad before. There was nothing memorable, exhibits old/outdated, or not working. Think of this place as time to catch your breath while the kids run around. Will kids enjoy it? Yes, 6 and under. This isn't one of those children's museums that will keep an older kid engaged for more than 5 minutes.....bring wine

My 19 month old LOVED exploring and taking part of all the activities available with very limited help from an adult. All the activities were engaging and educational. We will definitely visit again in the near future.

Our kids had fun but boy does this place need help. How embarrassing for a big city. Everything is so old and worn out. The place is tight and small although three stories. No space to eat. Old run down activities. Tiny gift shop. Totally bizarre that a place with tons of money doesn't have something better. Just overall a sad museum but we still made the best of it

Its good for little kids. Mine is 13 months old and he had fun. I also took my ahijado eho is 9 years old and he is too big for the entertainment.

It's a very expensive indoor play area with not so interesting exhibits except for very very young kids 5 and under. The art room had good staff helping kids with arts and crafts but the rest is tired and worn. It looked more like a place for nannies to dump the kids and sit on their phones. Better take the kids to the Egyptian temple at the Met or the Transit Museum in Brooklyn or on one of the ferries around the city.

Ridiculous to have a children's museum without a space for kids to eat snacks. Would give this experience 0 stars if I could.

Ugh. This was a waste of 30 bucks honestly. By selling timed tickets, they made it seem like it would only be so full. It was absolutely crowded (yes, it was a Saturday, but still- timed tickets) imagine parents knocking into one another to stay near their kid. It was a miserable time and the activities were severely lacking.

Pros: -Good place to take my almost 2.5-year-old when it's only 7 degrees out and daycare is closed -3 floors of fun to explore for younger kids and the first floor is geared towards 6 and older -Good amount of educational/interactive toys and games as well as many play areas -Fairly easy to get to by public transportation -You can get your hand stamped for re-entry the same day -Free coat and stroller storage (please tip as they are super sweet and efficient and deserve it!) Cons: -They do not allow food nor do they have a cafe, so if it's a 7-degree day it's not the easiest to leave to eat and come back even if there are restaurants in the area -It can get very crowded in there and it's not supervised so areas do get congested and you have to keep an eye on your LO as age limits are not enforced. My kiddo was unfortunately hurt by a significantly older kid because he wanted to sit where she was sitting and I couldn't get to her in time because there were lots of other kids between us and I wasn't going to trample them -Bathooms are not on every floor and there is only one elevator; however, the stairs are easily accessible if you do not need an elevator (but it seemed lots of parents did) Overall a fun place. I wouldn't personally get a membership, but definitely worth checking out on cold or rainy days instead of getting stuck in the house.

We come here weekly but are a bit disappointed today . Right before leaving, my daughter picked out a magnet and I went to pay for it with cash. The lady at the desk informed me it was card only but I didn't have mine on me so I went to give the magnet back to the lady but instead the lady said that my daughter could have the magnet and that we could pay next time. I thanked her and asked if she was sure but she insisted it was fine and we went to leave. The woman security guard at the door proceeded to question me on whether the magnet my daughter was holding was paid for. I tried to explain it to her but she kept badgering me on whether it was purchased and then the same lady from the desk who had just given it my daughter walked over and took the magnet from my daughter saying next time. Meanwhile, she had just given it to my daughter a minute prior. Then the security guard told the lady that she "would of missed it" as if I tried to purposely walk away without paying for it. It just left a very bad taste in my mouth and was pretty disappointed to be treated this way.

This place is discussing. The clientele on a Sunday was full of people wearing their dirty shoes were the baby's are supposed to crawl while refusing to mask. Place was discussing your dirty.

This place was so much fun for our 2 year old! We visited Presidents Weekend 2020. It was fun, but crowded! I would like to see a little more staff spread throughout the exhibits, as well as more hand sanitizers/ wipes made available. Also, maybe having bins available for babies who put toys in their mouths to be removed from the floor would be helpful. We had a good time! Exhibits are fun and easy to go through.

It's spring break, got a whole week, what should we do? Time to take advantage of our Cool Culture card we got from the school and go places for free! Second spot this week, today we decided on the CMOM. It's Easter Sunday, and they have their annual egg hunt! As the kids were somewhere in the room causing trouble, the adults were more interested in solving the puzzle ourselves, keeping an eye out for hidden eggs instead of our kids (I found myself meeting a few moms and sharing answers). Our favorite exhibit would have to be "Hello from Japan!" it's only here till May 17th, so come before they leave. Everything in there are super cute, I mean... Kawaii! It's a streets-cape setup filled with a restaurant where one can pretend to be a sushi master, a clothing store where the kids can dress up in whacky apparel. We also enjoyed the photo booth that sends the picture to your email, creating your very own mascots, and singing karaoke under a disco light. Make sure you have change in your pockets, there's a wishing well after crawling through a forest. My only thing is that they should replace broken toys and upgrading old ones so it can be a better experience for the kids. Other than that, three floors of fun, check out the schedules for more activities such as arts and crafts.

Great place for 2-9 year olds. Not far from central park. Easy to get to on train.was there with family. Five floors of activities. The best part is the basement where they teach dance and kids can put on costumes. The music and instructors are banging. Had the best time down here. The outside water exploration area was my second favorite place.

It is high time that they need to update toys/ activities. They need to clean the place everyday and repair all the broken stuff. The activities they did here were not logical and seemed senseless. On a Friday I reached 30 mins before they close with my toddler. The receptionist gave us 2 free passes for next time use so that I can later come and spend more time. I went few days later on New Year's, they had a ball drop, dj etc. But all of that for the price of $15 per person is not worth it.

Read carefully! I've been here on several occasions and I can't say enough good things about this museum! Reading some of these reviews leaves me to believe that unsatisfied visitors haven't actually explored all the floors and different areas of this museum. It took me some time and each visit captured more and more fun memories. It's huge and clean! That's a start! Strollers aren't allowed but they do offer a free stroller check in station. Admission is pricey but it's worth it and it's NYC, where most children's Gym/activities are expensive! I came here with my 2 year old autistic son along with my friend and her son and they both love this museum more than any other crowded establishment in NYC. It's completely safe and easy to travel from one side to another. There are elevators on 2 sides of the museum so if one elevator is crowded I go to the other side. What amazes me the most is my friend lost her 2 year old son 20 minutes before closing and they were able to stop traffic from coming in and out of the museum and radioed all the staff to find him immediately. She was so scared, we were scared, but the staff were optimistic that they'd find him and sure enough after a long and dreadful 9 minute search, he was found by another staff and immediately taken to the office on the last floor. My friend was having a panic attack and they offered her water and extra time to sit and calm down. They worked effortlessly to find him and he was safe thanks to the wonderful staff. My 5 star review isn't because of them finding my friends son but rather because each time I've come here, we had a great experience. Parents can interact with their children in the play areas and it's a lot of fun. Crowds are everywhere, even in NYC parks so it's to be expected and If decent size crowds don't bother you, you're in the right place. I love the slides on the second floor, I love the Diego play area on the 3rd floor, I believe. It's so much to do and explore so take your time and plan accordingly. I view this more of an indoor playground for children but there was plenty of signs and reading to go along the way while you're there. So it's informative when you're reading it to your children, otherwise they'll just run around and not pay attention to any of the writings around each exhibit, lol.

We went with our almost 1 y/o on a weekend morning. Getting in to the museum and checking our stroller and bag was fairly easy. The 3rd floor PlayWorks was most age appropriate. Our kid enjoyed the area for about 90 minutes, and became sufficiently tired out. It got crowded too as the morning progressed. It would have been nice if there was more to do with the little one. Giving four stars because $30 for two adults and a baby is kind of steep. Also because there's only two bathrooms in the museum available, both on the 3rd floor. If you're looking for something to do with a toddler, this isn't a bad place to go. If you live in the area and visit enough, it might even be worth a membership (you can get in early on Sundays).

I've only been this this museum once which was for the Good Grief! Charlie Brown exhibit in 2000. It's kid friendly and have a lot of ongoing activities of arts and crafts. It's not a large spacious museum but reasonably size. The Good Grief! Charlie Brownexhibit had nearly everything related to the entire Peanuts gang of Charles Schulz's creation. This exhibit brought the characters to life. In addition, to the Good Grief! Charlie Brown exhibit children can imagine themselves to be in professions of mail person, grocery store manager, etc. A little imagination with a big mind can go a long way!

This is such a great place for toddlers! Came here on Christmas Eve. It was a very rainy day so we were glad to find a place to keep our toddler tornado busy. Every room is toddler friendly. Lots of hands on stimulation! My favorite was the FDNY truck. Behind it was a fire simulator and you could "extinguish" it! There were several MTA buses to drive which was also fun. There was a Dora themed section and even a Byzantine section (among others- it's 4 floors of fun)! Just great! We are Members at Boston's children's museum, which is great for toddlers but better for school aged kids (so my son prefers the stairways to the exhibits ha). This had more for our son to do. Lovely place. My only "complaint" is that I wish there was a place for kids to have a snack (like how Boston does). But whatever. We were pleased. Worth the $36 for the 3 of us. Easy to get to on transit.

Multiple floors where kids/babies can explore. No strollers allowed so expect long lines to check strollers. The exhibits/play areas were okay, maybe we came at a busy time (2pm on a Saturday), but there seemed to be millions of people. I'm only giving it a one star because of the following: (1) The play area on 3rd floor are supposed to be age specific, i.e., certain area for kids under 2 yrs old, certain areas for 2-4 etc. But when I was there, I saw enough 5 or 6 yr old running around in those play areas for toddlers and babies. So parents clearly ignore the rules and the staff clearly didn't care. (2) Speaking of the staff, they all seem to congregate at the entrance/exit area, and their sole job is to make sure you stand in the "correct" area. When we first got in, I was holding baby and waiting for my husband to check stroller/clothes. One staff who had nothing better to do came over to ask me to "get in line". Get in line for what? Just because I was not standing by the ticket counter or the check in line, doesn't mean I have to wait in line. Then, when we were leaving, after we got the strollers, I moved away from the check out line so I wouldn't hold people up, because I need to put hats/mittens/clothes on baby. Another staff came over and said, "you can't stand here, this is the ticket line". I mean no kidding, I can read. But I don't see a line at the ticket counter, and I was doing you a favor for moving away from the check out line so people can get out quicker. So you should really thank me. Also, I'm pretty sure their time can be better spent going upstairs to see whether age-appropriate kids are in the proper playground.

Sigh, CMOM. Barely worth it if you have reciprocity through another museum. Definitely not worth it if you don't. Main problem is that CMOM gets overrun pretty quickly (not their fault) which would be fine if it were staffed accordingly, & it's not (totally their fault). Toy sets are wildly incomplete. Exhibits are broken. The downstairs temporary dance exhibit was little more than a dance floor with a few toys, steps, etc. No thanks. I just wish there were more playspaces for kids in Manhattan (again not their fault), but there's little value @ CMOM. Sad. Brooklyn Children's Museum is much better, especially if your child is young enough for the tot spot, and reciprocity is FREE there, not half-off.
