The 25 Best Restaurants In San Sebastián - San Sebastián - The Infatuation

"If there were an MVP of pintxo bars in San Sebastián, it’d be Antonio Bar. This three-table spot in the Centro shopping district has everything you want in a pintxo spot: a perfect Spanish omelet, a chalkboard menu of hot dishes, and a bar of cured seafood and mayo-y salads. Antonio stays pleasantly busy at all hours, with locals passing through for a quick coffee or a pintxo before lunch or dinner. But the ideal time to visit is around 12:30 or 1pm for a slice of the 28-egg tortilla de patatas. Don’t miss the ravioli, and order a plate of whatever fresh produce you see displayed on the bar, whether it’s slim green guindilla peppers or dirt-flecked porcinis." - marti buckley

The Best Pintxos in San Sebastián

"While famed for a gorgeous tortilla, this take on the Gilda uses premium anchovies and grilled green peppers, generously doused in olive oil and mounted on a slice of bread, offering a richly savory, slightly smoky variation on the classic." - Olivia McDowell

Google
Antonio Restaurant is a true local gem and absolutely lives up to its reputation. Known for their famous tortilla, this spot draws a steady crowd every morning — and for good reason. They make multiple tortillas fresh each morning, and they’re only served from opening until noon, so plan accordingly. Yes, there’s almost always a line, but trust me — it’s 100% worth the wait. The tortillas come out piping hot, with that perfect soft yet slightly runny texture that makes them so delicious and satisfying. You can tell they’re made with care and experience. Even with the constant rush of people, the staff handles the busy mornings effortlessly — friendly, efficient, and clearly used to the crowd. If you’re in town, this is one of those must-visit breakfast spots that truly captures the local spirit. Just get there early, bring a little patience, and you’ll be rewarded with one of the best tortillas you’ll ever have.

Google
Place is an institution and packed like a can of sardines. If you can't handle the heat then don't come. They serve their famous tortilla and be aware the main menu is after 1230 afternoon. Guys are hustling behind the bar so be ready to order. As Arnold said. . . I'll be back! I'm back - 2 days later. My friend Manuel took care of us again. Delicious food and great wine..tataki, scallops, prawn ravioli, crispy oxtail. Stay alert n grab a table!

Google
Everything we ordered was just incredible! This was the best pinxo bar we went to throughout all our stay in San Sebastián, it was recommended by a local friend of mine. I would definitely recommend #1 ravioli de langostino #2 vieiras (scallops) and #3 the solomillo (tenderloin). The tortilla is only served from 9 am til noon, so we went again the next day. It was totally worth it.

Came here for a tortilla in the morning. It was so, so yummy and worth the wait. All the seats were taken, so we had to eat at the standing counter. A tortilla and an espresso made the perfect start to the day.

Google
Everything we ordered was good! The server was great - took your orders, was quick with the service, and even greeted and did small talk to most people. The buzz for this restaurant is well deserved.

Google
An absolute must visit. Not just for its signature tortilla de patatas — a three-inch-thick omelette unlike any we’ve ever tried, with a lightly toasted crust and scrumptious layers of potato and caramelized onion, all held softly together by egg. And not just for what I think are its Michelin-worthy pintxos either — “Arzak-style” creations like scallops a la plancha with truffle purée, oxtail crisps, and the mind-blowingly good prawn ravioli in Martini sauce. But mostly, for the warm, lively atmosphere in this tiny Donostia bar even on a rainy evening — plates of tortilla flying off the counter, the cerveza tap flowing nonstop, and the two waiters casually chatting with guests from all over the world. Everyone squeezed in shoulder to shoulder, sharing some of the best food San Sebastián has to offer. If you ever find yourself in this corner of northern Spain, don’t miss Bar Antonio. Grab a seat at the bar, order as many pintxos as you can, and strike up a conversation with the fellow travelers next to you. This isn’t just a meal, this is one of those travel moments that stay with you.

Google
This taberna is a local gem and they’re famous for the tortilla which really lives up to its reputation! Never had something like that before and it is simply amazing! Coming back for more delicious food!

Google
Antonio Bar manages to be both traditional and inventive. The highlights were unforgettable: the ravioli de gambas with Martini sauce is a small masterpiece, delicate yet bursting with flavor, while the crujiente de rabo (oxtail) was rich, crispy, and deeply satisfying. Their tortilla is beautifully made, perfectly soft inside, and the best I tasted in Donostia. Not everything hit the same heights and I must say the scallops and the pistachio cheesecake were very good but not as delicious as the rest. Service is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere lively without being overwhelming. If you’re pintxo-hopping in San Sebastián, Antonio Bar is a must-stop on the route.

Yelp
Antonio bar was on a YouTube blogger we came across and featured their tortilla de patatas. We showed up shortly after 9am and the bar was full inside, outside counter with customers and there was a line. The bar doesn't like people waiting in the hallway so the line wraps onto the sidewalk. It didn't take long for a couple chairs to become available at the bar. Ordered a cafe with milk and a couple of tortillas. The tortilla is served just about everywhere- tabernas and restaurants in Spain. Antonio's version is different, a really good different. Made with 35 eggs, caramelized onions and potatoes. The caramelized onions really sets their tortilla apart from the rest. We stopped by twice to eat their tortilla. Pintxos start at 7pm. Get there's early for that. We got seats at the bar around 630 pm and finished our cold pintxos from the case. We still had 20 minutes before we could order the hot Pintxos and felt bad just waiting and was about to cash out when our bartender said if you leave it will be hard to get seats later. Ordered another round of drinks and waited it out. Enjoyed the scallops, oxtail won ton, shrimp won ton and foie gras. Food came out quick and as soon as we were done, our seats were quickly occupied. The same servers were there in the morning, there at night. They hustle and it shows. You must go here!

Yelp
This was our first experience and most favorite spot for Pintxos. We came here on our first night in San Sebastián. It was late, we were tired and hungry. There was a line and we were told 30 minute wait. We considered leaving, but realize that we probably would also have a wait anywhere else. And we were happy we did. The pintxos were all fantastic. The foie gras was the highlight of our entire trip. And the price is very reasonable. We came back the next morning for their famous tortilla and found out why it sells out within two hours. It held up to the expectation. I would recommend putting António Bar on your list when in San Sebastián. We can't wait to come back.

Yelp
While taking a walk in San Sebastián Old Town, we stumbled on this eatery. It was crowded inside and we decided to give it a little wait. There was no line at the time, so after about 5 minutes we were seated at a community table. We were seated with two ladies from Argentina and we had a pleasant conversation over a glass of wine as we perused the menu. The menu is on a QR code and can be translated into English. Turns out this was a tapas or pinxto bar. Full bar and lots of food coming out of the kitchen. We had a couple of glasses of sangria and a pinxto of their Spanish tortilla, which was delicious. The onions were heavily carmelized, which gave this tortilla a nice smoky flavor. We also enjoyed the anchovy tapas, which was a sliced baguette with olive oil, green peppers in oil and the anchovy on top. Very tasty. As a finisher, we were given a flan-like dessert with cinnamon ice cream. All in all, even though by the time we left the line was down the block, still a fun place to meet new people, have good wine and very good tapas. Servers were very nice and atmosphere was electric!

Yelp
Came back here early to get their tortilla de patatas and it is so good, we had to order 4 orders of it. It's flavorful and full of umami. It is the only potato omelette I have tried so far, but I've been to many pixtos bars, and a lot of the foods they serve is delicious and full of flavor. Coming back for more!

Yelp
Bar Antonio Review - If you are a single sober well presented male don't bother. I ordered a glass of wine and was standing at the bar at 8.45pm. Not busy. A couple left and I sat down. The barman (1 of 4) angrily told me to move as he had a group coming in. They did (4) 10 minutes later and stood. The message was clear FO. I paid for my drink and left. Not offered any snacks and not requested. I had a better evening in the old quarter. A truly very poor experience. NOT RECOMMENDED

Yelp
Amazing, favorite pintxos we had on our recent trip. first was the iberico - the best we had in San sebastian. delicious. next up was the fried beef wonton which was insanely good, as well as the langoustine ravioli. then the burrata and tomato salad with anchovies - super refreshing and delicious, very well balanced. And finally the tuna tataki which was the least favorite but still tasty. We returned in the morning to try their mini sandwiches (jamon, jamon with pepper, pastrami and mustard) which were delicious, and of course the tortilla - this one is huge and very messy/wet inside, really tasty with lots of onions and peppers inside.

Yelp
The tortilla is absolutely amazing, available starting at 9am every day. It absolutely draws a line on weekends, and as each one comes out they sell out quickly. It gets absolutely packed all the time though, even going in at 9:45am on a weekday by myself I had to jockey for a space.

Yelp
QUICKIE REVIEW By far the best, and richest, tortilla you will have. FOOD This is what I tried: Tortilla Rich and savory, two best words to describe what it tastes like. The onions...goodness. This is truly a breakfast treat but I could see where some people would prefer it for brunch or lunch. To have it first thing in the morning might be a bit much. PARKING NA SERVICE Order at counter, pick up at counter. PRICE Less than $10 TIP/OTHER THOUGHTS Had to come here twice, first time was in the afternoon. Couldn't get a seat if I tried. Second time was in the morning. They brought out the first tortilla at 0930. Worth the second trip.

Yelp
Friendly service, clean and nice design, good coffee and wine, and most importantly very good pintxos. The cold and hot ones were great and the tortilla was the best so far.

Yelp
This is the perfect place to grab breakfast and people watch while enjoying a unique tortilla de patata and savory cup of cafe con leche. My wife and I had been in Donostia, or San Sebastian, for nearly a month when we stopped by Bar Antonio after our morning walk. So we had tried tortillas de patata, or Basque omelets, at several places. This one was different! Cooked with the eggs soft, as in some other establishments, this tortilla also included carmelized onions, green peppers and had a crusty top--all of which made for an interesting texture and savory taste. It came with warm bread, and the cafe con leche was frothy and brewed from good coffee! We enjoyed this treat as we sat at the window counter on the street, giving us a view inside the bar and outside as the city came alive on a cloudy but pleasant morning. Truly a worthwhile experience!

Yelp
Went in for a quick coffee and some small breakfast. My wife love the cod pintos and I loved the salmon. Service was quick

Yelp
This is a LOCAL gem located in the upscale shopping district of San Sebastián. It is family owned and run by Antonio and his two sons. We went back 3 times on our visit. The STAR of the restaurant is the Spanish tortilla. It is the best we have ever eaten. It is enormous and full of sweet, carmelized onions. There is nothing eggy about it. I have to try to replicate this when we get back.

Yelp
We stopped at Antonio Bar towards the end of our trip and I really loved the vibe here. After stuffing myself to the gills on a bocadillo at Haizea, I wasn't really in the mood to eat more, but I had to find something to try. I opted for shrimp that had been battered and fried, along with two generous glasses of txakoli. More than that though, I really loved the vibe here. Filled with mostly locals but had staff that spoke English, this was a really great pintxo spot that was buzzing on a Saturday night. I would definitely come back here - try to sit by the bar, that seems to be where all the haps are!

Yelp
amazing place. love the mushroom with egg yolk and foie, the tortilla, the ravioli and the anchovie

Yelp
Not worth it. So many little bars and restaurants in Donostia/San Sebastian, we came here on a recommendation. For the taste and quality of the food it wasn't worth over €50 for two glasses of red wine and two orders of pintxos. The food was mediocre and disappointing. We felt like ripped off tourist, actually we were.
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
We went here upon lots of recommendations last night for pinxtos. Started off great. Ordered the egg/mushroom four gras one for which they are famous. Guy said they didn't have that yet cheerfully described a mushroom scrambled egg substitution. We enjoyed to tremendously BUT when we asked for the bill we learned that lil dish was 25 EUROS!! Come on now!!! All the others were 3-4 euros each!!!! This should have been advised BEFORE the order was submitted. over $30usd. Outrageous. Huge bummer start to the evening. Other spots in town were straight-up about prices. Bravo to them, not taking advantage of tourists!!

Yelp
Antonio Bar has been for decades one of the culinary hot spots of San Sebastián whether you visit it for pintxos or the restaurant downstairs. All I can say is that it will likely exceed your expectations, the food is always delicious and the service is awesome too. They are super friendly and detail oriented. The food is a good value for money and the selection of wines is large. Can't praise it enough. This is in my opinion one of the best pintxo bars/restaurants in San Sebastian, and it is located in the center of the city, just a walk away from the beach and the beautiful avenues of San Sebastian. I recommend the anchovies, the "croquetas" and raviolis (the Martini sauce that accompanies the pasta is amazing). Everything you might try is delicious. The highest quality food at fair price. It's definitely worth the visit.

Yelp
Antonio Bar was probably our favorite out of all the pinxtos bars we tried in San Sebastian. It's set in the main city area, away from the hustle and bustle of old town but can still get pretty busy if you go during a prime hour. We went around 10:30pm and managed to 1) grab the attention of the attendant behind the bar pretty quickly and 2) snag a small table outside. Antonio Bar also has a restaurant downstairs but the menu is different so we decided to try the bar food since pinxtos were why we were in San Sebastian. We ordered a racion size of one of their specialties, stewed tripe and pork nose (different and very tasty). We also got a croquette b/c we can't get enough of croquettes and it was the perfect balance of thin crispy outside with a delicious flavorful filling. The star however was definitely the prawn ravioli. We'd read about that before we came and were NOT disappointed. The ravioli is filled with a full-sized prawn vs. a ground up filling like most ravioli and dough and sauce were absolutely delicious. We could have each eaten a whole bowl of that ravioli and are still thinking about it days later. What was also nice about the bar was that they brought you your tapas to your table outside. Vs. all the other places were one person stakes out a table and the other hovers near the bar, passing the food along as they came out. The waiter was incredibly friendly, pretty good English and quite attentive. We also got a glass of the house red and the Rioja was the best house red we'd had across the other pinxtos bars in San Sebastian. All in all, top recommendation out of the 5-6 places we tried during our short trip to San Sebastian and I'll be dreaming of that prawn ravioli for years to come.

Yelp
Great food and social restaurant. They have superb service and a great list of wines.
google avatar

Gary G.

Yelp
They have a Full service restaurant downstairs, that is completely hidden. It's a little bright and was empty when we were there but the food was unbelievably amazing. Service was impeccable, and you can order half portions if you just ask them. The waiter spoke great English and it was an amazing culinary experience. I would avoid the nine euro king prawn. It was good but not worth nine euros in comparison to all the other food. The sticky rice with prawns was a fantastic risotto.

Fer N.

Yelp
Best place in town to eat a real pintxo of "tortilla de patatas" and drink a "zurito".

Jackie L.

Yelp
They sneezed all over all our food and shrugged their shoulders when we asked if they were sick. We did not eat anything after they started sneezing all over but they took nothing off our bill. Just unsanitary and unapologetic. Not worth the risk getting sick on vacation.
