Holy Matcha Joins the Mix at East Village’s Park 12 | Eater San Diego

"I've watched Holy Matcha charm North Park since Geraldine Ridaura founded it in 2017; as San Diego’s original matcha café it serves traditional Japanese tea and a host of specialty matcha drinks, and the new East Village outpost at Park 12 will carry its core menu plus handmade beverages exclusive to that location, along with treats like green tea–flavored vegan doughnuts and soft‑serve. The 820‑square‑foot space will move away from the millennial‑pink banquettes and tropical wallpaper of the University Avenue shop in favor of a more minimalist design influenced by Ridaura’s travels to Japan and Paris, and the café could open as soon as the end of the month while the surrounding plaza is slated to be fully finished this spring." - Candice Woo
