South Reno’s refined option for pristine sashimi, carpaccio, and Japanese plates in a serene setting. Noted in Edible Reno‑Tahoe’s sushi guide, Miyabi draws fans who want technique and restraint rather than AYCE excess.

Pick very quiet and chic japanese restaurant in the area! It's in a pretty nice plaza full with parking, so thats pretty easy. They do take reservations and it's probably very helpful especially if they are busy but when we arrive wait time isn't too long. The rib eye plate that I had had a lot of flavor and I appreciate it. The gyoza and salad with and the rice with it too. I also ordered a tempura which was also a very nice option considering the fact they have different stuff such as carrots and asparagus tempura! They have very somewhat slow surface but they are all friendly!

Disappointing Dining Experience!! I was really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing from start to finish. When we arrived, the server told us that someone would be with us shortly but we waited for what felt like over 10 minutes, and no one came. Another group walked in after us, and the hostess seated them right away without even acknowledging that we were still waiting. When we were finally seated (in the same area where the original server was working), he checked on every other table around us but continued to skip ours. Our food arrived incomplete — the miso soup was missing, and we had to flag him down after we’d already finished our main course just to get it. Throughout the meal, he never once asked if we needed refills or how our food was. We also had to flag him down again just to get the check. The only positive part of the visit was the salmon, which was really good. Unfortunately, the poor service overshadowed everything else. I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon.

Google
Really an incredible experience. I wish I had taken photos of the rest of the sushi, but I didn’t want to be “that girl taking photos of her food.” Exceptional sushi - so glad we went!

Came in for dinner on a Friday night around 7pm and was seated right away! We had Trey as our server and he was great! Was very professional and attentive all throughout dinner! We had the Salmon Kama, Hamachi Kama, Udon, and the Crab and Avocado Salad. The Crab and Avocado salad is a MUST TRY!

Josh P.

Google
The sushi staff was very friendly, he was very attentive even though we were sitting at the bar and weren't eating sushi. The gyoza and teriyaki chicken were quite good. I would have liked a bit more rice. My wife had the spicy miso ramen which was a bit lacking in flavor other than the spice. We'll be back to try a couple of the other dishes.

Google
Staff is very friendly and attentive, the place is nice and never gets too crowded, plus the fish is super fresh and delicious. Definitely my favorite sushi restaurant by far! Only downside is it's not all you can eat, but it's well worth the price!

Google
Well guess with their expansion, the quality went wayyyy down. Not ever returning. Spider roll used to be delicious and it should be for that price! But the past few times, the batter on the crab or something about it tasted like old grease. However, yesterday was the finale! The crab was like shells only. Could not chew it. I swallowed a small bit and it scratched my throat. It was cut thin and thick. There were little if any of the tiny orange balls. No big claw that makes it cute and a "spider" roll . Server was terrible, acting like it's normal. NO IT IS NOT. Spent so much here over the years, dining there 2-4 times per months at least. Ate that hundred times. Bye forever miyabi. Wish I hadn't sent so many folks there. This previous inconsistent but good review below is no longer existent of this place. Love this place for the most part. If you want quality sushi where it's not a bunch of sauce and a mess of all you can eat, but want flavor and quality COME HERE. Best in Reno. Something to note though, one thing is there is one sushi maker that makes the rainbow roll different and not tasty. I don't think there should be avocado on the top wrapped like the fish. Boo, too much avocado. It's a rainbow roll, not vegan nor avocado roll. And he also used pieces that have the shiny silver type skin so it's hard to chew and tastes different. To go food is also usually delicious and beautiful as well except someone puts mega sauce on the mt rose. It's gross and takes away from the other delicate flavors. One dot is perfect like dining in! Consistency is missing a wee bit I highly recommend going here. Cute, classy, clean and modern place.

Google
So cute! Small and cozy like the description. Service was prompt and everyone was so nice. I highly recommend the Mt. Rose Roll. Prices are pretty typical, but portions are good size if not bigger🤩

Yelp
We stopped here as we were on our way to Trader Joe's. We decided that we were hungry. The restaurant wasn't especially inviting, it was pretty dark in side, but the service and food were very good. Couldn't tell you what we had, but. It was very good Sushi and the pieces were pretty large. All I all, it was a good stop. We will keep it in mind for a future visit.

Yelp
Hi, it's really sad how Miyabe planned and handled its expansion. Now it's a high volume restaurant that has lost most of its charm and the service has really gone downhill. This used to be the best sushi place in all of Reno and it was well done when it was smaller. My suggestion to the restaurant would be to very carefully write down a table's orders and double and triple check everything when delivering food to the table. The restaurant now even forgets to deliver wasabi and ginger and makes many mistakes. They always apologize in a very friendly and sincere way but such mistakes shouldn't happen. The restaurant needs to remember what gave it its charm when it was a smaller restaurant and try to bring that back! I'd like to give the restaurant more time to decorate better and try to bring back its original charm. It was a good place.

Yelp
We had been here some time ago but decided to give it another go with friends. The restaurant is now over double the size it was and has nice dark, moody atmosphere. Going for an early dinner, I was suprised how quickly the restaurant was filling up. I ordered the Hiro Sashmimi. The menu says nine pieces but it was more like 11 or 12. It was served in a beautiful arrangement. The fish was delicate and fresh, always good when having sashimi. There was a minor mix up with my order as I requested no "mackeral" or shiny fish. The waitress quickly remedied the situation by bringing me 3 slices of salmon. Nicely done. My wife ordered the house salad and their version of the dragon roll. The salad looked nice. A good size for a dinner salad but nothing overly remarkable. I tried a piece of the Dragon Roll. It is a large roll, with a healthy serving of treats. The tempura shrimp was light, crispy and delicious. The Unagi and Unagi Sauce brought a nice texture and flavor to the roll. A quality Dragon Roll. We need to come back to try more of the menu but on this visit, the food was beautifully presented and more importantly, was absolutely delicious. Well done.

Yelp
Yummy food great service and nice location. Love the lunch special. Kind of reminds me of the old Sid sushi place I used to go to in sfo.

Yelp
New favorite Japanese cuisine meal unlocked... Whenever I go to Miyabi, I always struggle with whether or not to order sushi. See their sushi is great and they definitely use premium fish and know what they're doing with it but it's such a challenge on the value side knowing what can be had at one of Reno's more traditional, all you can eat places. That said, sushi here is always a good idea, and we always end up with at least one or two of their platters on the table. Those are for my wife and children who really enjoy their Nigiri and roles but for me, I'm always left looking for something a little bit more so on the last few visits, I've tried to scope out more of the menu and when we were in recently, I ordered something new to me and I think it might be my go to for the future. Trust me when I say you need to order the Hamachi Kama with a side order of their tempura. The Kama is grilled to perfection. Super succulent nicely glazed, and exceptionally meaty, the collar of the hamachi is a meal unto itself. Don't share it because as soon as you let somebody try to bite, they're gonna ask you for the rest of it. It is a little work to eat, but it is well worth the effort and don't skip the skin because it is perfectly crispy crunchy and just like a potato chip. The tempura here is pretty good and I really like the variety of veggies they include in the set. That said, Tempura is an art form in Japan and it's not done to the same level in the states. In Japan, you can expect wispy and light battering that gives way to perfectly cooked and tender vegetables or seafood, and though it's clear they're at a different level than you'd find in most places, and while their version is good, the batter is a bit heavier and crunchier than I was hoping and the shrimp was the most disappointing, surrounded by a lot of batter. But this combo together is nothing short of perfection and I am already craving a return visit for this exact thing again.

Yelp
Time for an update. Quality/Quantity - Today we got the following: California Roll - Just okay, even my guest did not eat too many of this and it is her favorite. Crunchy Shrimp Roll - Good. Fire Ocean Roll - My favorite of the 3 rolls. A nice slight "kick." Unagi Don - Way smaller than expected. My wife, who is a light eater, was almost still hungry after eating this... Overall the dish was okay. She still got at least one eel "bone" in her dish. Specials are also available, see website. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Well they doubled in size 4.5 months ago. Congrats!! Table seating, both indoor and outdoor seating. Sushi bar seating. And many counter bar seating in the front entrance. Clean organized unisex bathrooms, see previous picture. Open 6 days a week from 11:30am to 8:30pm, closed Monday. Service - 4 stars. Sadly, today's visit service was below average. Had to wait a while before ordering, then never saw our waiter again... We had to ask the sushi chefs to get us our check.... Price - $73 + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since May of 2021; we are still regular customers!

Yelp
Wonderful experience here at Miyabi, I couldn't recommend this place enough! The fish was delightful, fresh, flavorful, and overall wonderful quality. I opted for a sashimi platter with a hamachi roll and I also got to try the blue fin roll and sea urchin roll. It came with a side salad and a miso soup, great deal! My husband opted for the wagyu steak which he enjoyed tremendously, and that comes with gyoza dumplings and a miso soup with a side of rice. Overall the restaurant has been fully renovated and it looks wonderful. The vibes are immaculate and it feels more upscale. The service also was so attentive and the owner was welcoming and equally as attentive. We will be coming back again!

Yelp
First dine-in restaurant on the way back from The Burn. Omg feels like heaven. Spacious, cute little dividers between tables and well air conditioned. Their offerings are more on the simple side but i usually don't mind as long as the food is good and fish is fresh. It was a bit of a let down for us. The salad and miso soup came out first, enjoyed the salad and miso dressing. The miso soup decent as well tho not sure the little fried pieces floating. My combo Miyabi came with one traditional roll and 2 nigiri, got recommendation from waitress for the hamachi and i wanted the fatty tuna Negitori for the other. The traditional rolls r very big. Decent salmon roll. The hamachi was okay and the negitori i dunno why but it was a greyish color that didnt look appetizing to me. Ate one piece and left the rest. I packed most of mine to -go. Friend got the spicy edamame and it is more sweet and sour and not very good. Also his spicy tuna roll he didnt think tasted fresh as well. Sadly i dont think i'd be back here but still a nice ambience.

Yelp
A true upscale fine dining sushi experience in Reno is simply impossible. Miyabi has the style and ambience to give it an upscale feel, but make no mistake this is the same fish you get at the local AYCE sushi spot on the corner. Reno is not big enough to get the freshest and best quality fish flown in daily- like you would get in Las Vegas, Austin, or NYC where the fish is flown in daily and the quality is top tier. So don't waste your money and spend premium dollars on a meal that you can get for half the price at another sushi spot. This was a waste of a trip to South Reno and I will stick to our usual spot, JJ's in Sparks.

Yelp
This was my second time dining here The first was several years ago. MUST TRY THE PREMIUM OTORO. Melts in your mouth! The restaurant just re-opened after a short term closure to redesign the interior and expand into the old Ike's sandwich shop next door. First, this is probably the highest quality sushi and Japanese's cuisine in the entire Northern Nevada region. They just do things right here. Not only do they do them right, they serve dishes similar to what I would expect when sitting at a table in Tokyo or Osaka. They are legit. You won't find the silly option of AYCE sushi like most of the other "Japanese" restaurants in the Reno area. Miyabi has much more class than that. We ordered a myriad of items from rolls to nigiri. The tempura was perfectly cooked. (I find this as a sign to test whether a Japanese restaurant knows what they are doing or not) The presentations were amazing. I highly recommend the Hamachi carpaccio. And, they often have Yellowtail collars (limited) that I have heard are amazing If you want a true taste of what Japan has to offer, a taste of real sushi, noodles or katsu, consider this gem in South Reno and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
5/4/2025- Perfect location after seeing great movie next door.. Love the new expansion... Almost doubles the previous capacity-.. Miso soup served piping hot- (watch the video).. Miso soup has great flavor, and the textures of the tofu- the tempura crumbs- also known as tenkatsu- seaweed also known as wakame-..green onion.. Went with the lunch plates of teriyaki chicken.. Presentation and love the cabbage salad.. Always will be one of our top Japanese restaurants in town..

Yelp
Food was just okay. Service was good. Very different vibes from other sushi restaurants in town. I think for being the only place in Reno that doesn't offer all you can eat, I was expecting larger rolls and higher quality since you're paying SO much more. It also was not very busy which was about the only plus.

Yelp
Such a bummer to come back here and find that our order was kind of a mess. The restaurant layout has changed, which it's nice to have more space but I think since the layout changed, so did the quality of the food and the menu. Today I ordered the spicy miso ramen. I love spicy food - need it - but this was actually not edible. I asked for something to change and they brought it back with just less broth in it. It looked and tasted the same. My daughter ordered tempura udon and the tempura shrimp had so much batter, you couldn't see the shrimp. Did order a kazo salmon nigiri which was delicious but $12 for two pieces of sushi. Overall, I was disappointed.

Yelp
We went to lunch at Miyabi Japanese Cuisine last Saturday; when our 5-person party walked in, the restaurant had a handful of patrons but the hostess/server was able to quickly put a table together for us; so we were seated with a minimal amount of wait. After our server/hostess speedily distributed menu, we placed and received drinks orders. After the drinks were delivered; she proceeded to get out food orders: for our starters we chose to order the gyoza, fried oysters and tempura appetizers. Then for our main courses we ordered the ribeye teriyaki hot plate, chicken Katsu hot plate, two orders of the unagi don (hold the avocado) and the Miyabi sushi option (1 traditional long roll and 2 sets of nigiri). The restaurant also offered complimentary miso soup and house salad with our meals. One by one each of the entrees arrived at our table; the plating was a visual feast for the eyes; it was evident every item was meticulously prepared. Everyone enjoyed their meals; we savored each every bite. I have to admit though, my ribeye was a tad bit on the chewy side, but other than that the food was pretty good. The service was the best part of our meal; the staff were courteous, efficient and hospitable; overall, our initial dining experience at Miyabi was fairly pleasant.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dining experience here last night. The new addition is complete and the restaurant has a fresh and trendy vibe. Although I love the AYCE experience at other restaurants, sometimes you just want to order rolls à la carte, which is how they do it at Miyabe. Well, I was blown away with not just the presentation, but the quality of the rolls I ordered. The balance of flavors, textures and melt in your mouth Sushi left me so satisfied, I already want to go back. I also had the Green Tea Roll Cake. I liked it because it was light and moderately sweet, which was the perfect finish. The service was also excellent!! Ashley was our server and she was fantastic. Just an all around good time.

Yelp
Heard nothing but great things about this place, needed to give it a try :) parking is plentiful at the Summit Mall. Got seated (we did make reservations, it is a Saturday night) quickly. Place is clean and spacious. Host, who sat us down, was really nice and helpful. Our server was super nice and attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. Got a couple of appetizers -- the salmon one was amazing! Fried -- light and crispy, in a bed of fresh salad. The dipping sauce was amazing, citrusy and yummilicious! The crab one, I think it's called Kapa, was really good too! Very flavorful!

Yelp
We love miyabi so so much! The rolls are always so fresh and high quality. This time I tried a couple of different items like the chirashi bowl- loaded with sashimi and beautifully presented. There was a weird translucent type of anemone in the bowl that I didn't like, but the salmon and tuna was so melt in your mouth decadent that it made up for the odd filler. It also came with miso soup and a side salad. Super filling. As always the dragon roll is my absolute favorite dragon roll in town and the mt rose was also great. I tried a new appetizer the salmon kama (salmon collar) which is silky, fatty salmon grilled to perfection. For $16 I do wish there was more to the collar though, I ate every little fine piece off the collarbone. Always a good dinner and consistently high quality at miyabi!

Yelp
Miyabi provides excellent and refreshing service while also providing delicious, unique and gourmet sushi. Speaking on the sushi even though Reno famously is known for its all you can eat every once in a while it is nice to go to an a la carte restaurant. Every roll feels meticulously prepared and even though it is pricey you receive a healthy amount of servings that will make you full. We were stuffed after four of the rolls. The star of these dishes for me personally was the lobster roll and steak roll, the steaks were seared to perfection and the lobster tasted rich. The restaurant is simple and elegant, the layout is aesthetically pleasing and definitely nice for formal evening. Overall a pleasant experience, if you're looking for delicious sushi but want something that seems to have more forethought into the dishes miyabi is the place to be.
google avatar

Thomas A.

Yelp
Kind staff always friendly that greet you with a smile. Always packed because it is thee Best sushi in south Reno. We recommend the tempura which is a plate full of veggies deep fried so it has the satisfying "crunch". Worthy of going to pre or post cinema show.

Tina I.

Yelp
The new expansion really improves the ambience. Food is still great. Sake selection has also expanded. Very nice. For non-sushi, katsu is very good option.

Yelp
As a frequent customer, I was disappointed coming here during a weekday for lunch. I ordered a bunch of nigiri sushi and some of them tasted fishy. To top it off, I ordered their special roll with snow crab and it was extremely fishy, so I told my waitress. I was quite surprised to hear them tell me "It was supposed to be like that. Snow crab is fishy." Anyhow they refused to take it off the bill when I only tried half a bite. My son always orders the nigiri here but ended up eating my bowl of udon because he didn't enjoy the sushi that day. It must have been an off day, and perhaps because of the new remodeling and how they closed up for a month for construction they needed to make up on costs by serving old sushi.. whatever it was, I'm not so sure I'll be back.

Yelp
I got a chance to try Miyabi and was happy to be able to enjoy a solid, modern Japanese meal. The food is fresh, executed well and was great quality. We enjoyed the yellowtail carpaccio (best dish of the night) a hamachi kama that was fried to perfection, a couple of rolls (The Crunchy Fried, The Fire Ocean and Negi Toro) as well as a bowl of udon, which was pretty standard. The other dishes though were delicious. I'd go back just for the rolls, and I usually prefer nigiri when I go out for sushi. The server was attending to the whole restaurant and handling it like a G. I did like the decorations in the place and the use of shades, it definitely felt like a nicer spot. Some of the Japanese restaurants in town could use some influence on this place for how to decorate. The only reason for 4 stars is because for the price we paid, we still could have just gotten AYCE at our preferred sushi spot. I still see myself coming back for the specific flavors Miyabi brought to the table though, and will be forever dipping everything they serve in the Hamachi Carpaccio ponzu sauce.

Tom B.

Yelp
Lots of staff running around. Seemed like organized chaos. Instead of orders being taken at the counter, wait staff comes around to take orders. Food is taken from the counters to the kitchen window and from there back to those of us seated at the counter? With all the help, service was very slow. We started with the hamachi carpaccio, which we have ordered many times in the past. The pieces this time were small and very, very thin. We ordered the crunchy shrimp and the crunchy fried rolls. They were both good as we hadn't tried them before. We were surprised when or Mt Rose showed up, much much smaller than any time in the past. Even the crab mix on top was as 90% noodles and a few tiny pieces of crab. With the extremely slow service, it really didn't set well when the check showed up as we were taking our last bites. Just bad service tonight. This was such a difference from before, I asked if ownership had changed. Nope, same owner, but something happened and this is no longer our go to for sushi.

Yelp
I saw this place had great reviews and am always looking for new places to try, so we came by on a weeknight for dinner! We made a reservation and were seated promptly. Service was average, nothing special that made it memorable. This could be a nice date night spot, it's dimly lit and fairly quiet on the inside. I got the Miyabi Platter for $23 which is actually a great deal--it comes with a long roll, two sets of nigiri, miso soup, and salad. What more could you ask for? I got the crunchy shrimp long roll and my nigiri were the hamachi and sake. I thought all of our food was really good! Sushi was pretty good, not the best I've had but still high quality. The hamachi nigiri was probably my favorite! Fresh fish and good fish-to-rice ratio for all the sushi. They have so many different things on their menu, there's something for everyone. I was pleased with my meal and am glad we came to try this place for our first time!

Yelp
Great food, great new addition to the restaurant space. This is our go-to for good reasonably priced hot food and sushi. This is the first time coming since they expanded. Service was very good as well. I was a little surprised that a dog was allowed in but they are coming in everywhere, right?

Yelp
After a Saturday of (rental) house hunting in Reno, this place hit the spot! Great ambiance, cozy and Japanese. I had the Miyabi platter that comes with Mido soup (excellent) and a yummy fresh salad with fun dressing. The platter had a toll of your choice and 4 sashimi pieces and the smoked eel and tuna were delicious. I had the flight of Sake with it and had the restaurant's top service waitress pick the 4 choices. I am happy to say that this South Reno Sushi place should satisfy even a critical food snob and could be smack dab in San Francisco! What a great fun dinner I had!

Yelp
Christian made our evening SPECTACULAR. The first time we went, we sat at the bar and were introduced to the menu by Christian. We tried the Otosan combo. Two Rolls and 4 sets of nigiri. Then we just had him send out what he recommended. We were very happy with the rolls we were sent out. Then we added a special order of the Blue Fin Tuna as well. Delicious and worth the money. The salmon and the yellowtail were different cuts and the real wasabi was without a doubt a wonderful addition, as was the special ginger ponzu. And the Miso soup was so delicious. It hit the spot right on. The space is like most of the sushi places I have been to. Nothing stands out as unique, but I did really like the screens they had placed about to give a little separation between the customers. Only 4 seats at the bar keeps it not too cramped but probably a little hard to get to sit at. There aren't a ton of tables. The second time we went for just dishes. She got the tonkatu and got the teriyaki salmon plate. The main reason for getting the teriyaki plate was for that delicious looking cabbage salad and it did NOT disappoint, and neither did the salmon. I could eat this every day it was so goo I look forward to coming back for their lunch special very soon.

Yelp
We came here for dinner while visiting Reno. Great service and even better food! We tried the kinoko, deep fried oyster, lobster roll, and fire ocean roll. All items were delicious.

Yelp
Went for a birthday dinner last week. The food is amazing and the sushi fresh and unique - not the typical mayo AYCE situation. They have expanded the interior and it is beautiful inside! Perfect night out.

Yelp
MIYABI offers a different twist on Japanese food and sushi than Reno locals may be used to - and it works! MIYABI is located at the Summit Mall. My husband and I recently visited for dinner and we had a great experience! We ordered one of their platters, which allowed us to choose two sushi rolls, and four sets of nigiri. The nigiri and sushi that was served to us was of the highest quality and I was very impressed. MIYABI doesn't offer all you can eat (that I know of) but the platter was a fun way for us to sample several different menu items and no one left hungry. You will find that their sushi menu is shorter than some other restaurants, but it seems to me that they focus on high-quality ingredients and getting each role they present absolutely perfect. We had quick and friendly service and will be back.
google avatar

Tara T.

Yelp
The best fish in town! This is our go to when we don't want AYCE. My favorite last night was the Rainbow roll. Service was slow and they brought the miso soup out last which by then I wasn't wanting it. We had to ask for wasabi and ginger but happy they got us a seat without having a reservation.
google avatar

Casey K.

Yelp
Awesome sushi! This is a nice little restaurant with only a few tables. I do recommend having a reservation because seating is limited. The service was great! Staff were kind and friendly. I really enjoyed the appetizers. Loved the yellow tail carpaccio and it had a nice spice to it. The crab stuffed mushrooms were amazing. Tons of flavor. Fried on the outside, mushrooms cooked perfectly and crab on the inside. Everyone that likes mushrooms should try one of these. The sashimi is awesome. Perfectly cut, soft, fresh bites of awesome fish. We had salmon, octopus, yellow tail, tuna and loved all of it.

Yelp
Now, keep in mind that I am biased. I had a wonderful two weeks vacation in Japan in 2023, and my wife practically grew up in Japan. We were indeed hoping that Miyabi is capable of scratching that craving for the excellence in food found in the random corners of Japan. Well, unfortunately it did. Now that doesnt mean Miyabi is bad, just that isn't at the level of authentic Japan. We ordered Tonkotsu ramen, tonkatsu and chicken katsu. Good, but not great. Service was prompt. Interior is cozy and clean. We like the restaurant but it is not quite what we are looking for.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
Miyabi recently expanded and renovated, and the space looks much better--modern, spacious, and more comfortable. It definitely improves the dining experience. The sushi was great, with fresh ingredients and well-prepared rolls. Some standouts were the unagi roll, which had a nice balance of sweetness and smokiness, and the Chirashi sushi, which was beautifully presented and very fresh. The amaebi (sweet shrimp) was a nice touch, especially with the crispy fried shrimp head. Enjoyed fresh Uni nigiri as well. Service was efficient and friendly. Overall, a solid experience. Definitely worth visiting if you're looking for good sushi in a nice setting.

Yelp
We had to try all of the things and it lives up to the hype. Plenty of parking at the Summit next door to century theater. Pro tip they don't take reservations online but if you call they'll schedule it for you. Sushi is fabulous my favorite is Mt. Rose followed by the lobster roll. Ramen is good too along with the pork gyoza. Service is great. Very attentive. Sake sampler for $20 and very generous portions if you're not sure which sake is your jam. Beer, wine and sake only. The space is small and they plan to expand but waiting on permits. Looking for good sushi, good service and a nice time out Miyabi is the place.

Yelp
We were down in this part of town and decided to check out this new (to us) sushi place a couple weeks ago. It was a midweek night but the restaurant was more than half full so that was a good sign. We were seated quickly and our server took our appetizer and drink order within ten minutes. I ordered a sake flight and picked all cold sakes (Dassai, Kikusui Funaguch, Hakutsuru and Gekkeikan-Suazku). The sake flight arrived with all four labeled. The Hakutsuru was very clear and had no nose at all (you can probably guess where this is headed). My wife tasted it and suspected that it was water. My older daughter and I tasted it as well and confirmed that it was water. When we told our server, she was quite taken aback and took our glass to the back. She came back out shortly and said she tasted a pour from the bottle and confirmed to us that it was water. So she opened a new bottle and poured us a new tasting glass of the Hakutsuru. For food, we ordered a hamachi carpaccio, a bowl of miso soup, the miso ramen, the hiro sashimi (see photo), negi toro long roll, fire ocean long roll, ikura nigiri, kazo sake nigiri, sake sashimi, hamachi sashimi, and a rainbow hand roll. The menu said the miso soup had unlimited refills. We had to ask our server three times before we got a single refill of soup. The hamachi carpaccio was very good. All in all the quality of the fish was very good and the presentation was excellent, but the photos I saw from this place on Insta and Yelp were very misleading regarding the size of the pieces of nigiri and sashimi (there are photos on Yelp showing fat blocks of sashimi). Ours was just the standard slices. The daikon radishes and red radishes were nicely cut for decoration. The ambiance was good but the service was on the slow side at 2 hr and 15 min. Price was high but that's because this is not ayce. Since this restaurant isn't close to home, we probably won't go back.

Yelp
Amazing food!!! So if you're looking for some pretty good Japanese food in the Reno area, you must come here to Miyabi Japanese Cuisine! This place is small ( for now, as they are planning future expansion) with that being said, you should make a reservation of planning on going during evening dinner hours and weekend days. You can walk in, but be forewarned could be busy. My friend recommended this place for a late lunch and he'd been here before. It was on a Saturday about 3pm. The place was full but we managed to get a spot at the bar seating. Immediately we were warmly greeted and seated. Having gone to many Japanese restaurants I asked Christian ( he works there and was super nice and helpful) what he recommended. He recommended the hamachi jalapeño carpaccio. I decided to try it and it was amazing! It came out in a beautiful presentation and tasted amazing! Fresh thinly sliced pieces of fish, which was fresh and not "fishy" tasting. Flavours were full and jalapeño was just right spice! For my roll, Christian recommended the Fore Ocean roll. Also came out very very pretty and tasted so good! The sauce was just enough where you could still taste the roll itself! Of course we had to accompany the meal with some hot sake! My friend had por ramen soup which was his favourite and looks delicious which he said was amazing and of course came out in a gorgeous presentation. The ambiance was super nice and chill, with interior decor being clean and nice. This place has a large parking lot as it's located in a shopping centre. Price pint was good for the quality of food and amount. This place is very authentic Japanese with delicious foods, presentation of food, great customer service and fun ambiance. A must visit when in the Reno area, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
MIYABI is INSANELY GOOD! Wow. A girlfriend of mine took me here for my birthday because she bragged how fresh their fish are and how big the fish is and sure enough she was right. The appetizer I had which is shown in the picture that are ball form I am currently still obsessing over. I believe it's based off of mushrooms and I'm a lover of that, it was so freaking delicious! I'm a raw sushi kind of gal and their sushi is incredibly fresh and the perfect size that fills you up. I don't remember what my friend ordered but all was good. I've been told that this place taste consistent with their sushi so I will need to go back and see for myself. Though it is not all you can eat, you're paying for the quality so order as much as you want.

Yelp
This is probably the best sushi restaurant in town. They don't do AYCE - and for good reason. Their ingredients are always fresh, the prices and reasonable, and you get good value for what you pay for. A few more notable things: - The salad dressing on the house salad is amazing. Haven't had anything else like it. -The tempura is always on point -While the udon is good, I'm not a huge fan of the texture of the ramen. This is the one item on the menu that I'm not thrilled about. Overall, I can't recommend Miyabi enough!

Yelp
We hardly ever plan ahead, so have missed out on a couple Miyabi experiences and lucked out a couple times more. Make a reservation if you can. So many people get turned away at peak hours. Very small, efficient operation with immaculate food. We snuck in for a light meal before a movie and were reminded of the difference between quality, fresh, beautiful dining as opposed to the Reno AYCE experience. AYCE has its place, but not at Miyabi.

Yelp
I used to LOVE this place, but lately it's gone downhill. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and they gave two bites of chicken and rice and charged me $20+ dollars. The chicken was dry and burnt and the rice was mushy. I'm so disappointed. You're better off going to Panda Express and getting twice the amount of food for HALF the price. Also, the last time I ordered take out from here I asked for no avocado on my sushi roll because I'm allergic and they put avocado on it and I didn't notice until I got all the way home. Do better. Most likely will not be back. This was the final straw for me. They're playing in our faces at this point. #recessionindicator

Yelp
I have tried so many Sushi spots in the Reno Area since moving here almost a year ago and I just couldn't find a place close to my favorite place in the Bay Area until now! My Mom, best friend, and I decided to eat at this quaint little place before going to a movie, and I am so glad we did, because the Sushi was AMAZING, the fish was so fresh it melted like butter in your mouth!! My Mom and Bestie had the Ramon Lunch Special andand loved it as well. The staff was awesome and very attentive, always made sure we didn't need anything! After paying our bill and in our way out the staff thanked us from coming in and to come back soon! If you love Sushi and/or Ramen this place is for you, i promise you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Very good sushi! Fast service! Staff were extremely friendly! Japanese style atmosphere. It's not all you can eat like a lot of places in Reno/Sparks, but I didn't care because of the quality of food! I will be back!

Yelp
Even on a weekday, this place is busy during dinner time - And after dining here for the first time, I can see why! My boyfriend and I came here for dinner one night and each table was filled. Luckily we were able to get a seat at the bar right away since a party was finishing up. Our host was extremely friendly and our server was attentive throughout the visit. I grew up doing AYCE with my friends and family but this place gave me a different perspective on sushi dining that was not AYCE. The quality of the fish was excellent and the presentation of each roll was exquisite. I was so excited to try their Uni but they unfortunately didn't have it when we came for dinner - I'll have to try next time! I was very impressed by their Wagyu and was dreaming for another. My favorite item from our visit was the salmon skin hand roll. Now this might just have to be the best salmon skin hand roll I've ever had. Never had I ever had salmon skin so fresh and crunchy. This is definitely a must get. Ambiance was cozy and intimate. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience and I recommend this place to my fellow sushi lovers!

Yelp
Super quaint, small eatery. Not in a bad way, very quiet and comfortable. Our hostess was friendly and accommodating. Pay attention to the board on the wall. They list their lunch specials there. Miso Soup and Salad appetizer: came out fresh hot and cold respectively. Gyoza: Not pictured, best potsticker sauce I have ever tasted. Nigiri: Octopus was very tender and had the perfect flavor. Salmon was beautiful prepared....ask for extra lemon . Crunchy Shrimp Roll: beautifuly displayed and tasted extremely fresh. Yellowtail Roll: the fish was extremely fresh. I wouldn't have minded if it was cut into smaller pieces though. Miso Ramen: only thing missing was an egg. The pork belly was well cooked and the soup was well prepared in general. We will be back again.

Yelp
Don't expect much from the ambiance, but I'd rather have great sushi than care about decor. The service for drinks could've been better. Had to wave servers down a couple of times for drinks. Service at the bar from sushi chefs was great. Giving 5 stars for quality of food. Super fresh fish. We're very particular about sushi. Mostly do sashimi, not rolls. The premium Toro was buttery. Uni was delicious! Chirasu platter (variety of sashimi with rice at the very bottom) was fantastic! Comes with yummy salad & miso. Our new sushi spot. We live in Incline and we haven't found anything great there.

Yelp
I grew up in a world before AYCE sushi in Reno. The trend has created some exciting and sometimes bizarre offerings to sate the cravings a broad spectrum of sushi lovers. Milano however takes things back to tradition in both form and flavors. While the prices might be intimidating to those used to gorging themselves, I strongly recommend expanding your horizons of Japanese cuisine. While we only dropped in for a quick Sunday lunch, everything was fresh, the service was fast and friendly, and food was beautifully and simply presented.
