Seasonal outdoor market with global street eats & skyline views

"At Smorgasburg, New York’s then two-year-old food festival, Shimamoto debuted the ramen burger in 2013 and it immediately became a phenomenon: despite rain and an imperfect setup over 200 people lined up for just 150 burgers, and subsequent appearances saw 360 sold in three hours and later 1,200–1,500 per appearance. The burger’s visual and textural appeal—Sun Noodle ramen pressed into buns with layers of scallions and arugula and a secret shoyu glaze—created a theatrical moment that helped redefine the festival, turning it into a place where vendors needed a memorable "moment of theater" to stand out and accelerating a broader shift toward Instagram-friendly, viral food spectacles." - Bettina Makalintal

"After a three-week holiday hiatus, Smorgasburg is back Sunday, January 9th from 10am-4pm in the Arts District. The first edition of 2022 will feature five new vendors, including Korean fried chicken sandwiches from Chimmelier, Cali Dumpling, and Philly water ice shop Happy Ice. Entry is free, but no pets are allowed." - brant cox

"Famed outdoor food market Smorgasburg relaunched in mid-July with a takeout-only model called Smorg To Go. For the new model, the market moved across the street from its former flagship location into a smaller outdoor lot that holds ten vendors that rotate out each week. Ordering takes place on a new Smorg To Go website, and while there is no outdoor dining on site, customers are encouraged to take their food to the nearby waterfront Marsha P. Johnson State Park. A second Smorg To Go location has also popped up in Prospect Park this month. Check Smorgasburg’s site for the vendor lineups each week." - Erika Adams, Tanay Warerkar

"At Smorgasburg I encountered globally-inspired bagel flavors like saffron and gochujang with wasabi cream cheese, and Smorgasburg is trying to get a permanent storefront." - Emma Orlow
