"What did New Orleans do before King Cake Hub? It sets up shop at Zony Mash Beer Project on Broad Street again this year beginning January 6, selling some 70 varieties from the likes Bywater Bakery, Sugar Love, Zuppardo’s, Brennan’s Restaurant (also for sale at Brennan’s), and much more. Note: There is no preorders available, so your best bet is to show up early for walk-in purchase if you have a particular cake in mind. And while the hub won’t be delivering right away in January, shops says its working to find the right partner to re-institute delivery in the future." - Beth D’Addono
"During Carnival I swing by King Cake Connection for king cakes featuring some of the finest offerings from local Black-owned pop-up bakeries." - Beth D’Addono
"Serving as a central hub for many pop-ups and bakers, King Cake Hub is a place to pick up preordered king cakes and find daily offerings—such as Kirby Jones’s La Vie En Rose cakes—and other scheduled baker pop-ups throughout the season." - Clair Lorell
"I noted that King Cake Connection is a pop-up convening king cakes by Black-owned businesses and that it launched two years ago." - Clair Lorell
"Founded five years ago by Will and Jennifer Samuels, I find the seasonal King Cake Hub to be a pop-up that gathers dozens — in fact more than 70 — bakery and restaurant king cake options in one place; it returns this season to Zony Mash Beer Project and is marking the shorter-than-average Carnival with a Jan. 5 countdown party that starts at 9 p.m. and culminates with the cutting of the first king cake at midnight. This is the second Carnival season since Will died of esophageal cancer in September 2021, and the Hub also hosts King’s Day pop-ups (including one at the Historic New Orleans Collection on Royal Street at 9:30 a.m. and another at Bywater Bakery at noon). The Hub opens daily at 8:30 a.m. beginning Friday, Jan. 6 (King’s Day), at 1464 S. Broad Street, selling king cakes until they’re sold out through Lundi Gras on Feb. 20." - Clair Lorell
