Tried the Pecan Crusted Salmon and the chef did an amazing job. The presentation was awesome. The sauce was savory and the fish was cooked perfectly. Thumbs up on the sprouts also. Service was excellent!

20 out 10. I mean top tear service to start. The food was hand crafted and phenomenal!I had the hangover burger and substituted the pretzel roll for a biscuit. When I say best burger i have ever hand i swear by it. HOPCAT THANK YOU!

Awesome bar! Great convenient location. Really fills a need for a true bar setting. Good cocktail menu, plentiful beer menu. Great staff, very friendly. I loved this place and had a great time. The Porter I ordered was meh, but that’s not a ding against HopCat.

This place is freaking amazing. We visited for my husband's birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. LEGITIMATELY the best burgers we've had in a very long time and the truffle parm fried we're just right. One of the kids had lobster Mac and cheese and Dad and I had a bite... We'll now have to go back for our own! 😂 The atmosphere is fun and they have an amazing mural created from bottle caps which is a necessity to see.

This place has got great vibes and a great atmosphere. Theres so much to look at inside and the decor all just melds so well with each other. The burger was well made and the fries were top notch as well. All washed down with a local brew, made this fella one happy customer.

Amanda and the girls are great could have asked for anyone better to serve me.... I will say very classy and reserved with a upscale hipster vibe..food was awesome I had the Hangover Helper a 2 patty burger with a fried egg and hash cake and garlic aioli....

Update: Chloe the AGM reached out directly via phone and left me a very genuine and sincere voicemail once I reached out via email. It was within hours of me sending the email that I received the call. They are remedying the situation and going above and beyond to make me want to continue my business with them. Again Chloe has been absolutely amazing!! Will update food review once I am able to get back down there which will be soon!! Love this bar and love the vibes. However I ordered from Uber Eats and there were bits of plastic in my Dirty Martini Burger as well as me ordering Killer Cosmic Fries and I received Mac n Cheese instead. I’m hoping that there can be some form of remedy.

Great downtown place for lunch. Love the atmosphere and friendly service. Food was really good and unique! Kitchen was a little slow that day but in their defense, it got pretty busy with a couple of large groups walking in. We’ll be back!

Amazing service! The staff is super friendly and the beer is great. If there's a long line order a beer at the bar while you wait for your table. The atmosphere is separated well and beautifully done.

Absolute garbage. I was actually really excited to try this place, but the Nashville hot chicken sandwich is what happens when people that dont know what they're doing try making fried chicken. It was a brick of carbon with no flavor, no sauce, completely disgusting. There's no pride in the work here. The managers didn't seem to care.

Went in for lunch before our concert and got seated quickly. Super helpful waitress getting kids special Christmas drinks for the season. All of our food was really good and the fries too. We had plenty to eat for sure. They are always accommodating and friendly service.

Get on the waitlist before you arrive here our wait was shorter than expected (told 50min, probably waited about a 1/2 hour) I ordered the burger (which came with their special fries) and it hit the spot. Only thing I wished was that it could've been rare - BUT I know that's basically impossible with 2 thin double patties. The bun was great (wasn't crumbly but was squishy enough you could fit a bite in your mouth. Don't get me started in the fries I kept trying to figure out all the ingredients in the mix they put on, because it's definitely one you want to try and replicate at home. My friend ordered the fish and chips and had no complaints there either. Given how busy they were, we didn't wait overly long for the food to come out. Our server was great; she checked in on us just the right amount and was friendly. The desserts - usually we'll split something...but we couldn't agree on 1 My friend got the crème brûlée cheesecake, and said it was very sweet. I got the Reese's chocolate pie (more like mouse/flourless chocolate cake texture) and holy heck was it good! Very rich, but that pb/chocolate combo was spot on. We went to the downtown GR location and I really liked it. There's a decent number of tv's playing games etc but not to an overstimulating point. The playlist they had going was great. And you should take the time to check out the art on the walls...

It's yummy, albeit not the healthiest, food that you can stuff yourself with. Big portions. Their Mac and cheese was good, their cheese curds were great, their fries with the beer dippy dip were awesome. Nice folks.

This is by far my favorite location due to it being downtown, but also the vibes inside! I love the bar and the beautiful ceilings. There's always cool art in there as well. In terms of food, it's always solid. The menu (I'm pretty sure) is the same or mostly the same as the other locations. The service is always wonderful as well. Due to its location, though, parking can be difficult as it's all just downtown street or ramp parking. But Hopcat is always a great place to go for a good dinner, snacks or drinks!

I was hankering for their cosmik fries and fish sandwich, last Friday. Lots of changes from the old days, but still a fun experience. always lively, and a great time of socializing at the bar. Servers still give you free samples, though the options are less. Ordered a sour beer, and fish and chips. Enjoyed.

Eclectic spot w/ good food & drinks in Grand Rapids! My husband and I came here for dinner while visiting the area. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather, though the interior is also super cool and worth sitting in to enjoy! Our waitress was super quick and friendly. She served us immediately, getting us drinks - I got the Heyy Margarajito which was really refreshing, and my husband got a beer. For food, my husband got the Chicken Melt sandwich (delish!) and I got the Crunchy Buddha Bowl (yum!). Overall good experience at HopCat!

We enjoyed a very nice dinner at Hopcat. It was a Friday night and the Griffins were playing at the Van Andel so it was very busy. Luckily we had a reservation through OpenTable. We were seated as soon as we arrived. I had the dirty Shirley drink and I didn't care for it as much. It was good, but nothing over the top. For an appetizer we had the elote queso dip. It was outstanding. For my main entree I had the Buffalo Mac and cheese, which was also incredible. I really liked the big noodles. The sauce was so creamy and thick. Of course I had to have some cosmik French fries while we were there too. Those never disappoint and were rated the top 10 best French fries in the USA! They really are that good. My boyfriend had the hangover helper burger and ate it all so fast I didn't get a picture in time. Our waitress was very kind and attentive to our party of 6. She was patient and timely. The restaurant has nice bathrooms and their drink menu is extensive. You do have to pay for parking in the city of GR. We parked at the parking garage attached the the van andel and that was a quick walk to Hopcat. Overall we had a pleasant visit and will be back!

Good/large portion. Grilled cheese was sweet from the apple slices in it; I could have gone without. Served with tomato soup which isn't like your typical kind, but I enjoyed. Known for their "cosmic fries" which has some type of seasoning I could do with or without, but most importantly their fries are crispy. Service was nice, not as attentive, but sufficient.

Food was good and great beer selection. Would definitely come back. The steak frites were delicious.

Came in town for a concert and this place was around the corner from the venue!! They did not disappoint at all!!! Pricing for the menu was amazing!! It was late in the evening but it didn't stop the amazing service and the hot food!! The quesadilla were crispy and delicious I could have had more but it was late and I needed rest

This is a typical modern restaurant which is very Politics forward. The food was good The service was almost good I can do with a lot less political messaging at my dinner table.

I have not been to HopCat in several years. I should not wait so long to come back again! I had a Strawberry Basil Meowgarita and the boneless wings with Cosmik Fries. My drink was very tasty and packed a good punch. The food was delicious! Our server was attentive, especially considering we were there with a large party. We were up in the loft, and it was a little noisy but still had a nice atmosphere. Like many restaurants downtown they don't have private parking, but there are many meters and paid lots nearby. Great local business!

Stopped in and had a great lunch. Our service was good, and the place has nice decor and a great atmosphere. Great place to meet friends for a night out. Our food was really good. We started with the Elote Queso, and it was delicious! I ordered the cowboy burger and it was really good. I love the fries! Will definitely come back and highly recommend!

Subjective: Nostalgia (and a craving for crack fries, which have been rebranded?) and proximity brought us back to HopCat wondering if things were as we remembered. Unfortunately, the rose colored glasses broke and we left feeling disappointed. Service was slow and scattered, though we did appreciate the host that remembered to give us a booster seat (which wasn't available until about halfway through our stay). Both our burger patties were dry and the fries, while a good texture, tasted over seasoned. Plan: Would return if circumstances led to it, but it wouldn't be my first choice given there's plenty of places to eat downtown. Perhaps the next time we get to go out for a beer we'll give it another shot.

Such a great stop! Loved the beer selection! I opted for a cider and my mom had a glass of wine. We asked the server for recommendations and he recommended the grill cheese and the bikini bottom salad. We ordered both. The recommendations were spot on! We loved both dishes! The Salad was so good! If was packed full of fresh ingredients. We also split the grilled cheese. So so so so good! We were seated in a cozy booth and the service was so great! Great stop!

I really wanted to try this place bc of all the great reviews but to be honest, I left with a different feeling! The service was sub par, at check in they seemed disorganized with to go orders and seating people. The restaurant was busy but not overly packed. Our server wasn't anything to brag about and forgot our drink! The atmosphere was spot on for a bar scene. What did we order: -Nashville chicken Sandwhich (very spicy, we like spicy but this was very spicy) - Fish & Chips (great, relish based tarter sauce) - Light beer (good) - the fries were what everyone was raving about, they were good French fries but didn't understand the hype. I would try elsewhere next time

I've been to several Hop Cats but have never taken the time to review. Love the business model of only having that states beer on draft. For an absolute beer nerd like me who ONLY drinks local no matter where I travel this is spot-on. Great food as well from apps to burgers and great soups and salads. Really cannot go wrong with a Hop Cat!

The food, service, and atmosphere is amazing. Samantha was our server, and she was fabulous. She definitely knows how to make customers feel special! She made some menu recommendations, and they were very tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Thank you, Sam, for the great service.

Excellent beer selection, available as 6oz pours, with solid food options. Got a combo of an IPA, cider and sour and all were great.

Ate here for a friends birthday and i was NOT PLEASED!! Waiter was cranky and lazy 3 out of the 5 dishes we ordered had LONG hairs in them that were most likely from the Server who then got upset that we found HER hair in OUR food... The GM apologized and assured us they were remaking the food that then took 15 more minutes for the burgers and almost 30 minutes for them to bring me 8 Chicken Wings T when i ordered 10 not to mention the wings were COLD...that was it not even a discount on the food nothing.. Will not be coming back here

I stop in time to time and am always great with a hello. Amanda at the bar does a great job seeing how I am and waiting on me. They have vegetarian options, so if you go regularly you can try something new. My go two is the crunchy Buddha bowl but if you like grilled cheese the mad cap grilled cheese is tasty.

I do not expect low quality bagged salad and chicken from the cold cut section when I pay $15.00 for a BBQ Chicken Cobb Salad. Never again.

Have you ever ate a grilled cheese and in between each bite you have to stop and say "omg this is so dang good" to whomever is near to hear? Whelp, that was me. The grilled cheese and the side of tomato soup is a classic. Simple. Good. To the point. HopCat flipped this classic into an epic explosion of heavenly flavor. There were freaking apples in the grilled cheese! Apples!!! Don't knock it til you try it. The restaurant was a total vibe on top of great food. And the beer selection was a mile long. Highly recommend.

Service was a little slow because it was crowded. Excellent beer selection. I did not get the 2 staff members names, but I wanted to call out the excellent way they interacted with someone that was experiencing mental health issues. Was that person bothering other guests, yes. However, the compassion the staff had for this person was amazing. They calmly spoke to him. They listened to what he was saying. The person then left the area. I'm not sure if the guy is always around so they knew him, but I was very impressed. Ok, so this really doesn't talk about the restaurant, but they have some great caring people that work here.

Our waitress was absolutely amazing tonight. The Vanilla grasshopper was delicious. 10 out of 10 would recommend going to Hopcat. I will be back.

Grabbed a birthday lunch with the wife and sister and father. We love Hopcat for their food and famous cosmic fries (Please please bring back the grand royale sloppy Joe: it comes and goes), ventured to try some new things. This trip was just so - so... it was a gorgeous day and we were hoping to sit outside but they said it was closed: big bummer. If you follow me you know I religiously try and order nachos wherever they are on the menu so was excited to see they had some on the menu, figured with the loaded fries we were in for a treat. It was disappointing, there wasn't much protein or other toppings... hopefully they fix that. Now everything else was delicious and tasty: everyone got a burger (Peyton Thorne , Cowboy and double smash). Aubrey was our server and was accommodating and friendly. We'll still be back at some point.

We were looking for a simple place with good beer, good food and great service and we found it here. Daniel was our server and she was awesome, she was incredibly helpful and she made sure we were taken care of thoroughly. Since this was my first time in Michigan, I wasn't sure about the loc beers so she made sure I was able to taste any of the brews before I got the pour. The food was more that a typical burger joint and the overall flavor was good. The place was real nice and down to earth and not too loud or crowded. If I return to Grand Rapids, I will definitely stop by again for a few cold ones.

Ok....food is seriously low quality. Service was good but food is mediocre. McDonald's qtr pounder tastes better than their signature 2x burger. It's frozen beef low quality and tastes like nothing. Go here for beer ONLY or if you have limited taste buds.

Danny was extraordinary, we felt her attention was spot on. Our lunch yesterday was delicious. My husband had a huge double burger and I had the steak,cheese,mushroom and onion sandwich. We both got the cheese dip for our fries, extra delicious. The old furniture factory is very charming and we were in awe of the gorgeous wood bar, it was the best experience. Thanks Danny and Hopcat.

Dined here last night and was disappointed. Our server was good but our food did not come out hot at all. Everything was lukewarm. The chicken breast in the Nashville hot chicken sandwich was very small and thin. I get bigger chicken filets at chick fil a. All of our fries were room temp. The avocado in my husband's salad was hard and nope ripe. Really need to improve the freshness of their produce.

Service was nice food was overall pretty good . However, the beer the waiter recommended was not really great and it was very loud.

We showed up here because Brick and Porter was packed and the wait....60 minutes plus. We just needed food, ya know...relatively close to our hotel. We found HopCat and put our name in for 9 people, power walked over and got a table upstairs. The food was hot and yummy with good cocktails and a warm and friendly atmosphere. I'd definitely come back when in town again.

My water was never empty, the lobster mac and cheese, parmesian truffle fries, and veggie bowl was all delicious! Our waitress was cheerful and the atmosphere was fun. I was impressed!

Food: they have really good house & loaded fries! and they are not salty:) Burger menus come with og fries so no need to order extra! Drink: lots of options to choose from, but they offer sample tasting so recommend trying first then ordering to your liking! Location: parking is available at a nearby parking-lot, but hard to find open space later in the day. They have nice outdoor seatings, but be careful when sitting on the wooden chair!! last time I found a little caterpillar

Good beer, good service, good food! Came in here for a burger and beer and had a good experience. We really enjoyed the food and it's great for popping in for a bite and drink. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Wow where to start. First of all they lost my order & two other people's orders who were waiting. The host was rude when I asked if my food was ready she kept saying no then went to check & the food was there waiting the whole time. I finally get to eat my food and my burger has nothing on it but a patty & buns..... I asked for a beyond burger with no tomato & no onions but got NOTHING! I decided to eat it because I was so hungry AND A HAIR IN IT!!! Won't ever go back to this location this is the second time they got my order wrong but it's never been this bad. Don't go here. Thankfully I got a refund

Really amazing food! Lots of variety for different tastes! The only down side it is on the pricier side for the amount of food you get.
