Ujin Haejangguk

Went here twice on my 7 day trip in Jeju. Expect an hour to 1.5 hour wait. Only 4 items in the menu. 1 is a thick soup with heavy emphasis on the deep rich flavor of pork. 2 has a lighter soup with plenty of seaweed flavor. Both are equally good but 1 has more pork meat, 2 has a ton of tasty seaweed.

A very famous bracken and pork soup. When we arrived to take a number, there were already over 100 groups ahead of us, so we waited for about two hours—quite a long time. The number calling is only in Korean, which isn’t very foreigner-friendly. However, the bracken and pork soup was truly impressive: thick, comforting, and warming, with hardly any pork taste—almost entirely dominated by the flavor of bracken.

Our first meal after landing in Jeju was at Ujin Haejangguk, a spot known for its hangover soups. We had gosari haejangguk (bracken soup) and momguk (gulfweed soup). Both were super comforting but I preferred the momguk as the gosari got a bit jelak after a while. We also had a crispy mung bean pancake that was incredibly yummy and satisfying. Overall 7.5/10

Queued for 45mins. Tried the pork bone soup and hang over soup. The restaurants had almost 10k reviews. Taste was unique, but not to my liking personally. Very local Korean dish.

Ujin Haejangguk is an absolute must-try restaurant! I was incredibly fortunate to avoid the long wait times that are typically associated with this place (1.5-2 hours!). The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the spicy beef congee, which was an absolute delight, especially on a rainy day. The flavors were on point, and the tender beef slices added a fantastic touch. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service, while the cozy ambiance enhanced the overall experience. If you're looking for an unforgettable culinary adventure, Ujin Haejangguk should be at the top of your list!

Service: 4/5 Efficiency: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Environment: 4/5 Taste: 5/5 Came towards the end of the day, around 8pm. even though it wasn’t very crowded, the staff was quick, efficient and friendly. I couldn’t speak korean, however they still were very patient and polite toward me. i bought the Spicy Beef Soup (10K Won) as well as the Pancake (15K Won). Though the pancake was slightly pricey, it was worth it. Recommend!!!

Expect to wait to get a seat. The line can often take two hours. I recommend estimating they seat 60 teams an hour so if your ticket is 120 teams in front of you then you can comfortably expect to come back within two hours and be there in time for when your number is called. Visually the food doesn’t look great but it did definitely taste good and I recommend trying it.

Queued for 1.5hrs (even we arrived around 2:48pm after lunchtime). There’s an AC room for waiting. They will show you the picture menu if you can’t understand the Korean on the boards. The radish kimchi was amazing. I think the food was tasted good but you will feel so thirsty after the meals (maybe because of MSG??)
