"The best boulangerie-breakfast in Santa Fe High-elevation baking might not always (ahem) rise to the occasion...but at Clafoutis, the French family that owns and cooks at this bakery/restaurant has acclimated perfectly to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. While it might be hard to tear yourself away from red-and-geeen- chile -on-everything while in New Mexico , if you do want to take a break from capsaicin for your morning eats, this is the place. Just to the northwest of the city's historic core, Clafoutis is one of Santa Fe 's morning institutions. You can get things to go, but if you wait for a table, you'll be served café au lait in a bowl along with "Bonne Maman" jams to transform perfectly-textured baguettes into "tartines." "Bonjour" greets you as you walk in the door, and your eyes will feast on the piles of pâtisseries beckoning from the counter. My wife and I had one of the best chausson-aux-pommes--in or out of France--that we've ever tasted. And, in a nod to local tastes, they even offered green chile to go with les oeufs... Be forewarned, though--parking is extremely limited, and weekend mornings are formidably popular. Un peu de patience: so worth the wait!"

Watch: The French Pastry Master Serving Santa Fe’s Best Baguettes | Eater

"Widely regarded as offering the best baguettes in Santa Fe, this French bakery and patisserie is run by Anne-Laure Ligier and her husband Felipe, who after operating a bakery in France and an original U.S. outpost in Albuquerque sold those businesses and ultimately took over a former Cuban bakery in Santa Fe. Felipe arrives daily at 2:00 a.m. and personally bakes every baguette, and the shop also serves French classics such as mille-feuille, galettes, and madeleines. Visiting chef Sheldon Simeon noted the absence of green chile on the menu—staff say they will add it if customers ask, a nod to local hospitality." - Eater Video

The epitome of a comfortable and well managed French bistro! Friendly and welcoming staff. The baked goods and quiches are picturesque yet well prepared. Review photos are consistently correct. The galette crust could use more butter as it was on the dry and less flavourful side. The quiche was comparable to spots in France with excellent flavour & texture. Fair prices and delectable coffee! A popular haunt and worth the wait if need be. Convenient large parking lot.

Had an informal business meeting at Clafoutis, the food looked absolutely delicious. Well presented. The service was somewhat slow, the table was not cleared after after our drinks and food was finished. Will definitely go back and give it another try.

A bustling bakery with a huge selection of pastries and treats. It was very busy by the time I got there around 10ish on a Friday. The display cases are packed so it was difficult to choose! The croissants are very flaky and buttery, and I've never had a clafoutis before. It's tasty!

The absolutely best breakfast we've ever had! It was outstanding, every single bite and we finished every single bite. We each had a cappuccino and it was done so beautifully, that it reminded me of when we were in Italy. I got the le special breakfast and my husband got the hash brown breakfast. And both were killer! The croissant and bread that mine came with were just done beautifully and I got poached eggs and they were done perfectly. The yummy French jam that it came with was just delicious and so cute that they came in their own little jars. My husband's hash browns were done perfectly and he devoured them. The bacon was meaty and crispy like we both enjoy. The server was so friendly and kind! We bought a bunch of pastries and desserts to bring home to share with our boys. We met one of the daughters, who was as kind and helpful as can be. Their pricing is very reasonable, especially with how beautifully and wonderfully everything is created. Also it is just a cute and nicely decorated atmosphere. It was a Tuesday at 10 and it was packed, almost every table was full. Plus they have a counter for quick to go service to get your coffee or yummy treats. I also saw yummy quiche, mini and large sandwiches to go. I mean they have everything imaginably and of course fresh baguettes, croissants. If we lived in Santa Fe, we would go weekly. Please go support this extra special place doing it all over the top in all the right ways.

Wow, great food/service and the various quiche dishes are supreme! Hot tip: Their bakery is so treasured that if you come late, the shelves will be empty! I’ll go earlier next time.

Excellent sandwiches and salad. Loved that the food was delicious, but most of all that the process were fair and not too high. I will be back.

Came up in my research for my trip and I'm so glad we were able to make it. We stopped here for breakfast on our last day before we headed back home. The atmosphere was definitely bustling, even for a Wednesday morning. We passed the pastry case on the way to the table and I was very tempted to get something on the way out, but didn't. Prices were very reasonable for the quality, which makes it a place I think we would frequent if we lived here. I ordered the coconut french toast along with a large orange juice and both were excellent! The OJ was fresh squeezed and so good, a perfect start to the morning. The french toast was phenomenal. Moist, lightly caramelized in spots, and topped with seasonal fruit and a generous sprinkle of coconut flakes. I devoured it and loved every bite. I love french toast but I'm usually hesitant to order it because it can turn out too dry or too thick, but this was exactly right. Our server was quick and efficient, and we didn't wait long for our food despite how busy it was. The only drawback for me was the design of the two person tables. The legs were so close together that it was tricky to sit comfortably without bumping into them. Not a dealbreaker, but something I noticed that made it sort of uncomfortable if you're in a slightly bigger body or like to sit closer to the table. Otherwise, the space was very cute. You know it's French style because it's the only place we had been to in town that didn't have a ristra hanging somewhere lol I thought this place was excellent and would love to come back someday!

Great meal for the kids and adults. Highly recommend this shop, we were there right as they opened at 7am and they already had quite a few people waiting.
