The Best New Brunches in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Brunch isn’t just a weekend occurrence at all-new Sunny’s, which replaces Le Bon Vivant in Little Burgundy. All week long, the diner-inspired spot is serving eggs Benedict (with braised ham and Emmental cheese), bagels and lox, pancakes topped with whipped mascarpone and strawberry compote, and no-nonsense platters of eggs, potatoes, and choice of breakfast meat. Pair your pick with a cocktail — there are bellinis, mimosas, or the Sunshine, with vodka, orange and pineapple juice, and turmeric." - JP Karwacki

New Montreal Restaurants Openings, July 2022 | Eater Montreal

"I welcomed the rebrand from the Le Bon Vivant team to Sunny’s Dinette, an approachable diner-style spot on Notre-Dame West offering classic sandwiches like grilled cheese, a Cubano, and bánh mì; salads and mains such as hot chicken and steak frites; refreshing boozy drinks; and an all-week brunch of eggs Benedict, pancakes, bagels, and lox." - Valerie Silva

"Griffintown, from Lunch to Late Night Griffintown sits outside the well-beaten tourist path, to the west of the museums and shopping on Sherbrooke (and so even farther west from Old Montreal ). If you make the journey, you'll find a residential neighborhood which is enjoying a renaissance. Much of that translates into new condo projects, but along with them are new boutiques and restaurants, including Le Bon Vivant which opened at the end of August 2014. This restaurant which is open for breakfast until late at night (till 10, Monday to Wednesday, and till 11, Thursday to Sunday) has already attracted a following with crostini, sandwiches and other simple dishes heavy on roast meats and vegetables. All are served in a space that embodies the design trend of the moment, complete with poured concrete floors, a chalkboard wall with the daily specials, and an abundance of Edison bulbs. The menu successfully pulls off a fusion of Québécois and other cuisines from around the world with the kitchen faltering only once—the bread pudding was a dry disappointment."

After I was done with my business matters I decided to visit this place to have some food. I ordered a Falafel Salad and a Halloumi Cheese Sandwich. Both tasted really good and fresh and I liked it! I only would have had a bit more dressing on the salad. The service was friendly and I would come back one day to get something delicious to eat again.

Great brunch spot! Great food, reasonable/average prices, good service... all was great, but a quality of the coffee, unfortunately. I would totally recommend for a breakfast or brunch, this spot, and wouldn't mind to come back

We really enjoyed our brunch at Sunny’s Dinette. The decor is super cozy and cute. Loved the seasonal flowers! The staff was very kind. We ordered the eggs Benedict, the croiwich and one pancake to share. All of it was top notch. Would definitely return!

Google
Its really nice brunch spot. The plates look lovely and beautifully decorated. I really love the casserole. Potates topped with cheese curd, hollandaise, caramelized onion, bacon, fried egg. Yumm. We also order the pancakes and add2$ extra for the fruits. Personally i just love it soak with maple syrup. And the tomato soup just gave me too much sour taste. But the coffee is not reach my liking. I ordered ice latte but i didnt like it.

Sunny’s Dinette is a perfect blend of classic American diner vibes and Montreal’s local charm. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with just the right mix of retro aesthetics and a cozy, modern feel. Whether you’re here for brunch or just a coffee break, it’s a spot that makes you want to linger. Their drinks are excellent. The latte was smooth and well-made, showing they have the right equipment, and the hot chocolate was perfectly comforting—rich, creamy, and just what you need on a chilly day. For food, we ordered the eggs Benedict and the classic plate, and both were fantastic. The eggs Benedict wasn’t just delicious, it was beautifully presented, with a hollandaise that had the perfect balance of richness and tang. The classic plate was simple but well-executed, with fresh, high-quality ingredients. But the real standout? The potatoes. Both dishes came with golden, crispy, and flavorful potatoes that were simply amazing. With high-quality ingredients, generous portions, and fair prices, Sunny’s Dinette is a place I’ll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend!

Took a small trip north of the border and stumbled upon this restaurant. Steak and eggs were amazing. The service was just as amazing! The cook was fairly new and brought us a complimentary pancake as a thank you for our patience. Everyone was so kind. Thank you.

Yelp
A cute and hip little breakfast place with booth seats, high tables and bar seating. In the summer, there are a handful of regular tables right out front but it's very sunny with no shade--perfect if you want a tan :) Since it was a hot day, we sat inside at the booth seats where the AC was blowing from the back wall to keep us cool since the doors and windows were open. It's an open concept kitchen with bar seating looking at the cooks in the kitchen. The menu is pretty straightforward. I ordered the Casserole with the Hollandaise sauce on the side. It was verrrrrryyyy ordinary. Just fried potato cubes, a sprinkle of chives, a few tiny pieces of cheese, almost non existent bacon and an egg on top. It wasn't cheap though at $21. My friend ordered the Bénédicte which in comparison seemed like a better deal as it came with 2 eggs on a toast with cheese and spinach underneath, salad and tons of potatoes for only $20. Service was friendly but standard. It's a well situated diner easily accessible and near the metro Lionel Groulx. They've only been open since September 2022.
