A boteco, or neighborhood restaurant that serves beer. Tony met with Eduardo Maya, “self-taught gastronome,” and Luiz Otavio, a beverage tycoon who specializes in cachaça at Cachaça Vale Verde. They had "ox tongue cooked with basil, mint, and pepper" and "feijão tropeiro: beans, manioc flour smoked in cured meats" and fresh eggs.

Exquisite food. Great service and really nice external area. It is a simple place (no fancy chairs, just the ordinary plastic ones) that has one of the best foods of the city. Totally recommend the "Tropeiro"!

Fui especialmente conhecer a casa para degustar o petisco que foi o vencedor da primeira edição do concurso comida de Buteco no ano 2000. O boteco é bem simples, com dois ambientes, sendo uma com mesas na calçada e outro interno, ambos sem conforto térmico adequado. O estacionamento é na rua e com relativa facilidade para encontrar vaga nas proximidades. Os toaletes são bem simples e razoavelmente limpos. O atendimento é protocolar e sinceramente esperava mais acolhimento, por ser turista e eufórico pelo concurso. A bebida é bem gelada. O petisco estava no tamanho certo e muito delicioso. O cardápio não é digital, não tem álcool gel nas mesas, os guardanapos não são envelopados e os talheres não são ensacados. O custo x benefício é bom.

Guys, travelers and adventure seekers, this is the place! Every other review loved the food, but found some "small mind" issue with the waiter or the decore, or just gave 4 stars bc it is not a regular practice to leave 5 stars. I get it, decoration is not there, unless you understand what this place is about. Yeah, not taking CCs is def a WTH nowadays. So got your cash? Then come enjoy the best food in BH. The most kind man runs it, and he's a natural artist at making these dishes leveraging the flavors he grew up surrounded by. Careca, you're like the Morgan Freeman of food. Thank you!!
