This is an amazing museum with the best collection of architecture and artifacts from Louisiana that I’ve ever seen. We used the pre-recorded walking tour, which was excellent and we learned a lot of history of the area and what life was like for people over the centuries. The section on both slavery and slaveowners in the museum was thoughtful, respectful and honest, clearly representing what it was like to live in this area at the time. The museum’s commitment to preserving the past is commendable and a great example to others. I was very impressed and would recommend this to anyone interested in the history of Louisiana.

Begin at the beautifully decorated museum then enter the garden. Great place to take your family. Many seating placed along the light trail for those needing a rest, Christmas Music, lots of displays to take photos. Hot cocoa and smores area once you reach the lake with a beautiful Christmas ambiance. Tickets purchased online.

Great museum and informative exhibits inside side and outdoors. The old homes and cabins displayed in true era we found fun to tour. This place takes you back 100 to 150 years in the South and how families lived. I highly encourage a visit. Front ticket area staff was very helpful.

If you haven't gone for Louisiana Lights you should buy your tickets now!! 🎄 We went on Barks & Bright Night and it was fabulous. There are stations along the way with snacks and drinks. Fun stuff for kids at one stop. New stuff was added this year. It's totally worth it!!

Nice collection of items from 150 to 209 year ago. The motorcars and Hearst were impressive. Outdoor area are dusty and unkempt. I was expecting something along the line of Vermilionville in Lafayette, where each buildings are well restored and preserved.

20/10. 100% recommend. And please at least you need 2 to 3 hrs if you want to see all the amazing things they have. Basically, it's a small fee to get there. But worthed

Just absolutely incredible. They have so much here about slavery & life as a slave. My most favorite section was their outdoor section- they have around 20 buildings from that time, furnished, some you can walk inside, that just really captures the feeling of how life was back then. The buildings are as close as they can be, but it's still a decent amount of walking. But unless you're chronically ill or disabled, I *highly* recommend seeing everything to show your respects to the enslaved, even if it's more walking than you normally do (I am obese, my legs were a bit strained, but I could still absolutely do it)

This is absolutely a must-see Museum and grounds for anyone interested in history. Large indoor space displaying an enormous amount of items regarding rural life in Louisiana. Many large displays of carriages and hearses. The outer grounds are acres Aurora buildings barns outhouses homes that were brought onto this museum's property to display a real life example of what rural life living was like. As a senior, the entry fee was $11. Worth every penny. Unfortunately, a simple map layout is all you are given, some sort of guided tour pamphlet or if we wanted to hit the ball out of the park, an audio tour for the areas that you go through. There is no reason that these items should not be available in a museum of this stature.
