The 38 Essential Toronto Restaurants

"Wine should always be easygoing and approachable, at least according to Grape Witches owners Nicole Campbell and Krysta Oben, who opened their bottle shop and bar (including a seasonal patio) in the west end of the city. They offer parties and workshops with an aim to stimulate conversation and educate palates in the process, aided by their quirky yet handy “Badge” guide, a litmus test to determine how “wild” you want to go outside your usual tasting comfort zone (based on variables like acidity, minerality, savoriness, bitterness, sweetness, and more). And although full meals aren’t the thing here, Campbell and Oben have curated a high-quality assortment of crudites, cheese plates, and tinned seafood to enjoy between glasses." - Tiffany Leigh

"Toronto’s notoriously rigid licensing laws were relaxed at the beginning of the pandemic to allow shuttered restaurants, bars and retailers to become bottle shops, selling takeaway alcohol in order to bolster their businesses. A slew of fine new vintners have since opened their doors, including Grape Glass, launched by Nicole Campbell and Krysta Oben in June, which specialises in natural wine."

Wanted to try the place after so long, and it was kinda a dissapointment. The wine selection was decent, and the glasses we ordered came out great as well, live up to the natural wine name. Although the service could have been better. We ordered 3 snackes, one of which was a crudités, and it took roughly over 20 minutes to come out. I understand the kitchen could be busy, but to be honest, the picture can show you, to arrange some veggie on a plate, it shouldn’t take you that long regardless. When I asked a staff (a host I believe) about it, her tone was nothing but condescending about it. Not sure if there was a misundertanding or miscommunication, but enough for us not wanting to go back a 2nd time. Our waitor was lovely though, nothing to complain about them. Overall, a below average experience, you could have a better time and quality elsewhere.

We absolutely loved our experience with Drew at Grape Witches! They are so fun, knowledgeable, and welcoming – their energy really made the whole visit feel special. We left not only with amazing wine but also with such a good vibe from the way they guided us through everything. We honestly had such a great time that we’d love to have them at our wedding in Australia! Thank you, Drew, for making our day so memorable.

wow. thanks for single-handedly carrying the Ontario natural wine importing game. found my favorite elusive wine producer here by a stroke of luck (I was just visiting Toronto) and I could’ve cried! the patio is beautiful but the flights left something to crave. it was ok, i think i just had a weird day (as a big natural wine person!). truly some spectacular selection, great vibes, the food looked nice for snacks - and i especially appreciated the grape fountain. thx for existing!

Google
What a delicious natural wine bar. So many options and a diverse price range offers in new comers to natural wine for questions which are happily answered by staff. Upbeat and happy is everyone who is working there, and the front outdoor patio is lovely. Sign their petition on their site so they can open their back one!

Great ambiance for selecting the perfect wines. So many unique choices and an easy system to understand. I was recommended this place by a wine maker friend and I finally got to go and visit and it was totally worth every minute. There are chilled wine options and 'last chance' options as well. They sell fresh bread and really good chocolate as well.

A wonderful assortment of natural wines, gorgeous back patio and we especially really loved the spicy canned mussels as a little snack with our flights. Would love to see more options of Moscato both on the menu and in-store for purchase, but the bottle I ended up buying (Moscato D’asti) was spectacular.

Love the back patio and their wine selection. My girlfriend is not a wine fanatic but loves their sparkling & cider selection that is always a bit funky.
