"Even the most particular matcha drinker in your life will be happy at Asha. Their matcha lattes are limitlessly customizable—add boba or grass jelly, swirl in seasonal fruit purées, tweak the sweetness and ice levels, and, unlike many spots on this list, upgrade to a larger size. All the options make getting a latte here fun, but we love this Union Square spot for their regular matcha latte with 25% of the standard sweetness." - julia chen 1, patrick wong
"There are a lot of decisions to make at Asha near Union Square. Many of their drinks come with a list of follow-ups—sweetness and ice level preferences, milk choice, and even add-ons for seasonal fruit purees like mango, blueberry, and mango. All that customization means a drink that you’ll more than likely be happy with, but it might end up taking a bit of time to make. To keep things easy, we suggest a classic matcha latte—they do lean a bit sweet, so ask to go a tad lighter. While you’re waiting, there’s a handful of small tables and a small bar that usually has at least a couple of seats available between coworkers escaping the office. And if you’re hungry, there are pastries from The French Spot." - Patrick Wong
"When you need to change up your everyday coffee routine, head over to Asha Tea House for a fresh cup of hot (or iced) matcha latte. Entering into the shop will make you feel like you have walked into a zen tea room, decorated with stone ceramic teapots and pine wood trimmings. This downtown outpost has a small menu, but you really can’t go wrong with anything that’s on there. Every drink consists of high quality ingredients and made fresh to order — you can even watch the baristas hand-whisk your drink right in front of you while you wait eagerly with anticipation. You can customize your drink order with the varying levels of sweetness, ice, and even throwing in some boba pearls. Aside from having the best matcha lattes in downtown SF, switch it up and try their hoji-cha lattes or quench your thirst with a fruit infused iced tea instead. Pair your beverage with their Asian-inspired pastries such as sesame mochi muffins and assam spiced tea cookies" - outlier

"Management at Asha Tea House on Grand Avenue confirmed the location is closed after a tipster found the space dark and all the furniture gone." - Lauren Saria
