A friend told me about his experience at Our Paladar and thought that I would love it. I’m so glad I took him up on that recommendation. I wasn’t able to make it here for a dinner service, so we came for brunch. We made reservations to make sure that we could get a table And the weather was fairly chilly so we sat indoors, but their patio was pretty adorable. I’m pretty certain the building is an old train depot located right next to the tracks and it has plenty of character. It has Cuban vibes to the space and downstairs there is even a cocktail lounge that I would love to try next time! I would say it was an upscale dining experience, but wasn’t pretentious. The food was great, but not overly expensive. The staff was pretty great and I definitely was torn on what to order. I can’t wait to come back for a dinner service. If you’re in Rochester, Minnesota, check it out!

I’ve had several things off the menu and I can confidently say, there wasn't a single thing that hasn’t been superb. My favorite so far is the steak frites, it was so good I nearly flipped my table over! The tuna tartare is another favorite, as well as the burrata. Don’t get me started on the wedge salad, if you don’t know what you want, I can promise you, the wedge salad will be phenomenal every single time. As for pasta, the bucatini is another favorite of mine. If you haven’t visited this place yet, please do! The chefs are brilliant and the staff is so warm and welcoming. Great addition to the Rochester area.

Google
Tricia was perfectly charming and helpful, the cocktail menus is creative and interesting, I thoroughly enjoyed an “Old Cubano”, the blackened chicken wings were served piping hot with a nicely seasoned buttermilk dressing, carrot and celery sticks. The Arctic Char entree that I selected was served almost perfectly cooked with incredibly crispy skin on a tasty bed of wild rice and a subtly spicy tomato sauce. The only negative thought that I had was that the portion of fish was smaller than the asking price. Overall a very nice experience and worthy of future consideration for another visit.

We’ve always loved this location for its great patio, and were excited to try Paladar after hearing some good things — it did not disappoint! We were recommended the gnudi, and it was a highlight — perfect portions and a beautifully cooked steak. The dumplings had nice flavor, though the wrapper was a bit thick for our taste. We also tried an appetizer with focaccia and olives — fun, bold flavors, though the bread itself was a bit tough. The fresh lemonade was delicious and refreshing, and we really enjoyed the bar top and overall ambiance — it’s got a warm, welcoming vibe. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

Unfortunately now that the chef who started the restaurant has left, everything is declining. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Rochester. My last meal was terrible though. Calamari drenching in butter/oil. Medium rare steaks served Blue style cold on the inside. Tartare overpowered with spices so you can’t taste the meat. The rice balls got worse. The menu went from balanced dishes to soul food style dishes with way too much sauce and bacon on everything. Sadly I will have to take this place out of my rotation. My bet is that it will close in a year.

Google
We ordered steak frites, bucatini, and oysters. All were phenomenal. This was by far one of the better dinners we’ve had in Rochester, and we will gladly be going back. This was quite a bit more spendy with our drinks, but it was well worth it.

We've been privileged to be a small scale provider of some local produce to this restaurant, so we thought we'd like to experience the food. We ate once downstairs in the bar, and tonight upstairs in the main restaurant. In both cases, the food and service were supurb. The food is easily as good or better than anything else in Rochester, and our service was fast, friendly, informative and helpful. Thank you Kifer, Clint, and Kurt for a great experience!

Google
This place has been so special to us and has been a great place to enjoy celebrations together as a couple. The food is some of the best you can find in Rochester, the drinks are delicious, and the service is surprisingly thoughtful and personal (shout out to our most recent server, Zoey!). There are several dishes we’ve had here that we think about often and crave (looking at you, Gnudi and Yuca Fries…) until we can get back again. If you haven’t been and you are looking for somewhere special where the food and drinks are hand crafted with high-quality, fresh ingredients, this is it.

Yelp
We are frequently in Rochester over the last 3 years for my son's medical treatment and have eaten at pretty much every restaurant multiple times. This is my new favorite place! Everything was delicious. We had the arancini, oysters, parpadelle, and rigatoni for appts and main courses. All were perfect! We tried the tres leches and budino for dessert and those were also amazing. They don't have a kids menu, but they made him bucatini with butter and he loved it along with the vanilla ice cream with olive oil for dessert. The guava margarita was delicious and refreshing. Just what this mom needed after a long week of medical appts. Thank you!

Yelp
We checked out Our Paladar in Rochester, MN, and the vibe inside is really cool. It's dark, moody, and has a great atmosphere. I started with the Smoke and Spice cocktail, which was fine but nothing special. For food, we tried the beef tartare since it was recommended, but it ended up being pretty disappointing. It didn't have much flavor even though it had a lot of ingredients mixed in. The mains were a mixed bag. The Bucatini was okay, but the short rib risotto was super delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. We shared a couple of desserts, and both were good. Overall, it was a nice spot to try, but I'm not in a rush to go back. I might stop in again sometime just to check out their jerk chicken wings.

Yelp
Tricia!! Goodness. Super 5 star treatment. I couldn't decide on wine I love a great red Zinfandel. Tricia offered a sample of a red she enjoys. Very cool place. Waiting on our food- stay tuned- appetizers satisfying. Entrees next

Yelp
Interesting experience for me. I'm not sure how to describe the food and vibes but I can tell there is some Cuban and Italian influence. The service was amazing! The hostess and servers were so friendly and answered any questions we had regarding the menu. I ordered the steak frites and it was delicious. Also, they have mocktails for those who do not drink alcoholic beverages. I ordered El Floridita and it was good, sweet and spicy. Perfect for a date night, a night out with friends or with family. They have a bar downstairs where the restrooms are. It's a very laid back environment and I would like to check it out.

Yelp
Yet another surprise find in Rochester! Here with a couple of friends to celebrate my partner's birthday and this was a great decision. We were seated quickly on arrival, and greeted by very friendly, and knowledgeable staff. The menu was an interesting mix of Cuban and Italian food. I will admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but what do I know?! I've been around a lot of Cuban food so I had high expectations for the Cubano...I was not disappointed! Everything we ordered was good. The pictures tell some of the story...the phone could not eat first! The drinks were also good! We had the pleasure of trying the bartender's new concoction and it was pretty good! Overall, this was a good experience. I can hear the yuca fries and plantains calling me back.

Yelp
I had a fantastic meal and look forward to coming back! There's a mix of Cuban and Italian food, you'll be able to find something for everyone. Everything we ordered was delicious and I'd recommend: Focaccia and compound butter (mint and chive) Cacio e Pepe arancini Jerk chicken wings Mafalde Gnudi Caesar Service was great, we were provided helpful tips, food was paced well, and we were checked on throughout the meal. It was a perfect dinner out on the patio!

Yelp
I remember going to this location when it was a different restaurant. Our paladar is a welcome addition to the place!! We had an amazing meal on a late Sunday afternoon. I was staying at the kahler and it wasn't a bad walk from the hotel to the restaurant. I love the decor and the Cuban Italian cuisine Our Paladar offers. Our server was super knowledgeable about the menu and had awesome recommendations which is always a great touch to the experience! I noticed how much attention they paid to the details of both the food and the dining experience even offering new plates and silverware in between the dishes. I was with a group of 3 and we got a few different dishes and shared. The cacio e Pepe Arancini had a great peppery bite and perfect crunch topped with a generous amount of Parmesan, the smoke and spice drink was delicious, also loved the patatas brava and the steak frites with the yuca which was also fried to perfection crunch but not greasy at all. The food was all so beautiful I was very impressed by this restaurant and would definitely come back again next time I'm in Rochester.

Yelp
Outstanding service. Interesting food selection. As expected high-end, small serving, creative plates.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dining experience at Our Paladar. Interesting selection of cocktails, generous Caesar salad, flavorful chicken wings (which my husband looks forward to having again!) and absolutely memorable bucatini with crab . Seated quickly in their warmly lit space and best of all --the service was wonderful. Our server, Brittany, made thoughtful suggestions for cocktails and meals. We have another reservation to go back this week during our long stay in Rochester. After trying 8 restaurants so far, Our Paladar is our favorite spot in town.

Yelp
We were so excited to visit Our Paladar after hearing great recommendations. While the food was good, our experience was disappointing due to a billing issue that could have been easily resolved with better communication. We ordered Yuka Fries, the crab pasta, and oysters. The oysters were fresh and tasty. The crab pasta arrived, but the sauce was too heavy for my daughter to eat. I requested an order of pasta with butter and fully expected to pay for both. I also asked for the Yuka Fries to be remade without any sauce. To my surprise, I was charged for the Yuka Fries twice, totaling $28 for fries. When I spoke with the owner, he explained the second charge was because he had comped the pasta. However, upon reviewing the bill, the pasta was not comped. I want to note that I fully expected to pay for the additional buttered pasta, as I ate the original crab pasta dish, but being charged $28 for Yuka Fries seemed unreasonable, especially as the original toppings--sauce and lemon--were overpowering. Instead of taking a moment to review the bill and address the issue, the owner walked away without further discussion, which I found unprofessional. It's such a shame he escalated the situation rather than recovering it. This misunderstanding could have been resolved quickly with better communication. While the food was enjoyable, the attitude toward addressing the issue left us certain we wouldn't be returning. They must be doing very well to treat their customers this way. I hope this feedback helps future customers. Be aware that they are not very accommodating and will charge you for adjustments.

Yelp
I had the Smoke and Spice cocktail with my dinner which was delicious! I shared the hummus and entree with my friend since the portions were big and pricey. The entree wasn't memorable but the hummus paired well with my cocktail. The main floor seating was a little bit too crowded for my liking as I could hear both tables conversations around me. Next time I plan on bar seating and enjoying the cocktails and appetizers.

Yelp
Acquaint little building very cute. My dinner was a Kobe steak delicious also tried the old-fashioned very very nice and I had a couple of appetizers. I'm in Rochester only one or twice a year, but I will be back. The staff is very knowledgeable about what comes out of the kitchen, so I ask them for some ideas

Yelp
One of three best restaurants in Rochester, MN. Cuban and Italian influenced food. The Pappardelle pasta dish was my favorite.

Yelp
What a treat! Everything about this place is warm and welcoming -- located right on the river by the old railroad tracks, it's both in the middle of downtown Rochester and somehow in its own little oasis. The dining room is warm and inviting with a high ceiling and big vintage windows overlooking the porch -- I'm a little jealous of the folks at the tables out there, but I love this dining room. Even the music inside is welcoming -- enjoyable but entirely unobtrusive. I'd like to come back on a Thursday when they have live music on the porch outside (apparently a folk singer with his acoustic guitar). Anyway -- loved the food too. The scallops, the burrata, the homemade pasta and the great desserts (bread pudding!). My favorite restaurant in Rochester ... and an unexpected treat.

Yelp
Great service. Nice ambiance, clean , decent food fun for something different, needs variety if you eat a couple times a month

Yelp
Wow- This place is fantastic. It is in the building that used to be The Porch. We were with a group, so we quite literally sampled the entire menu (except a couple of appetizers). Our service was fast and friendly, and everything arrived relatively quickly after we ordered. We were thinking that a new restaurant may have some glitches, but the entire experience was perfect. To start we had the oysters and the croquettes. The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the croquettes were wonderful - crunchy on the outside and savory in the center. And don't forget the cocktails, we tried each of the six that were featured. All of them were special and surprising with unique flavors and ingredients. You cannot go wrong with any of the main entrées or the pasta. I suppose they had to have fried chicken as an homage to The Porch, and it did not disappoint. Very crispy with a little bit of tang. The swordfish was excellent, cooked perfectly and fork-tender. I ordered the strip steak which was cooked exactly to medium rare topped with chimichurri, but could have had a little bit more spice (but then again I am from Texas). In my opinion, the best thing on the menu is the pork chop. It was truly outstanding and served with a delicious tomato jam on top that paired with it exceptionally well. All three of the pastas were delicious but the Bucatini and the Gnudi were amazing. Do not be afraid of the word "anchovy" with the bucatini, as it is incorporated into the dish - much like in a Caesar salad dressing - and adds a tremendous amount of awesome flavor. The gnudi is stuffed with ricotta and served with small squares of pancetta and is truly something special to enjoy. It will be a requirement every time we visit. There are three desserts and a number of Amaro's to sip after dinner. We got the two with ice cream and they were tasty. It sounds simple, but the vanilla ice cream with olive oil and sea salt was the crowd favorite. Simple and oh so good. For a brand new restaurant, Our Paladar knocked it out of the park. We cannot wait to return.

Yelp
We tried to dine at Paladar yesterday but we left before even being served. We had an OpenTable reservation, which usually indicates restaurant quality, but not Paladar's. The music was so loud I couldn't understand the hostess. I asked if we could be seated where there was less volume, but that didn't change anything. She "turned down the volume," but that was barely noticeable. We dine out several times a week and we were looking forward to a different and interesting menu, but not at a cost of not being able to converse in civil tones. Yes, I have a medically diagnosed hearing problem, but not to the level it's ever previously caused us to leave a restaurant due to blaring recorded music. We'll never go to Paladar again.

Shelly H.

Yelp
Had a very pleasant time at the Palmetto Room, the 'speak easy' style bar in the basement of Our Paladar. Classy while still relaxed and casual. Bartenders/waiters were friendly and very knowledgeable on both the rum and the food. We were able to get the famed cauliflower appetizer even tho it wasn't on the bar menu. The cubano sandwich was great. As were the jerk chicken wings. We'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Rutuja S.

Yelp
Nice place with beautiful interior. The staff is very kind and sweet. Honestly hardly any vegetarian options. Apart from focaccia and cauliflower starters nothing that you can have if your a vegetarian. Good thing that their chicken is halal if your looking for one. I tried the focaccia with butter and crispy onion flakes. It was good. My friend tried the Fried chicken with kimchi slaw which was decent. Would hope if they come up with more vegetarian friendly options in future menus.

Yelp
10/10. Food was excellent. Zach, our waiter, was FANTASTIC. When we walked in we transported to a different era. Ambiance is refreshing. And you can tell time and passion went into this menu. We did the petit greens and croquettes as an app. Greens were fresh, nutty, and tangy from the pomegranate seeds. Croquettes were crunchy on the outside and smoky and filling on the inside. Avocado crema was on point. For entrees we did the pork, gnudi, and rigatoni. Pork is MASSIVE with a tomato jam on top to sweeten it up. The rigatoni was delectable. But the star of the show was the gnudi. Little pockets full of rich goodness that melt in your mouth and the pancetta gave it depth and a nice saltiness. We both did the butter me up cocktail. Slight salt in the beginning, rich and smooth, and finishes subtly sweet. Super yum. Very much recommend. Have fun!

Denny Z.

Yelp
My friend and I went there around 7 pm for the reservation and had to wait another 30 minutes to get seated. The service was great but takes a long time to get our food and drinks. Yuca fries were amazing and I would get them again but the risotto was super salty and the short ribs were dry. I don't think it's worth the price. Overall, I'd recommend just getting the yuca fries and not the overpriced risotto.

Yelp
Great ambiance- Fantastic food- always very friendly/personable staff here! Unique and fun experience!

J H.

Yelp
What an amazing dining experience. First off, sit on the veranda..so nice out there. Corey was our server and did a great job of helping us navigate the small but well appointed menu. My buddy and I started with the croquettes. Almost a Spanish rice filling. Then we had the Scallops and the Caesar Salad. Both a unique take on a classic. We had the Risotto with the Braised Short Rib. What an incredible flavor explosion!!! Ended off the evening with the Tres Leches and the chocolate pudding. Cannot give this place enough praise. You owe it to yourself to give it a go!!!!

Joseph C.

Yelp
Overall disappointing. We started with the Octopus appetizer. A modest portion. Enough for one but scant for two. ($24) The truth is it simply wasn't our taste as the sauce was too sweet 3/5. My wife had the boar ragu pappardelle. Overall, the dish was very salty. To add insult to injury, The line cook failed to keep the pasta stirred while it finished cooking so many of the noodles were stuck together, resulting in a pasty blob of pasta 2/5. I tried the short rib with risotto. Unfortunately, the dish arrived cold. It wasn't really bad but it was hard to enjoy it since it wasn't even warm. The two tables on either side of us ordered the same dish -- steam was visible coming off of the short rib. I guess we were just unlucky. So, to be generous 3/5. There are other restaurants in town at this price point that we have enjoyed, so while we may give Paladour another shot, I'd have to say it's over rated.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Our food (appetizers, mains, and desserts) were delicious. I love the location of this restaurant and the outdoor seating. Our server was attentive and helpful in answering our questions about the menu. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Rochester!

Brian C.

Yelp
Having dined there twice , I rate it as one of the two or three best relatively upscale , interesting restaurants in town . Food is uniformly very good , generous portions and a nice wine list . I plan on returning frequently

Anoop S.

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal dinner. The burrata is divine. The short rib is exquisite. The gnudi is incredible. They've done an amazing job with a superior experience across a breadth of dishes and then some within those that go above and beyond. Hard to imagine better dining in Rochester. And the building is also very well done.

Maria C.

Yelp
Ambiance, Service and food were great. It is an upscale restaurant that hand makes most if not all the pasta therefore you are paying more than regular. Would still recommend to experience at least once as the food is unique and very good. The waiter was very friendly and suggested great dishes.

F S D A.

Yelp
Good service and reasonable ambience . There is plenty of salt in the dishes we tried

Ben P.

Yelp
Can't rate this high enough. Food was amazing and the wait staff was incredibly prompt and professional. We had the arancini, burratta, Caesar salad, and rigatoni. Would order them all again.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, been here several times now for happy hour. My what good white wines they always seem to have for happy hour and great price. The croquette's and Pork burger are fantastic. Very quiant atmosphere w wonderful "chill" music yet I found myself and others chair dancing to tunes. Great sevice as well.

M K.

Yelp
What a lovely experience! We had a difficult time deciding what to order because everything on the menu looked so good. We finally decided on the housemade focaccia (great crust and chew, and the compound butter was delicious), pork belly (loved the succotash and sweet corn sugo), burrata (I'm a fan), mafalde with pork ragu (perfect texture and cook on the pasta, and the sauce was really meaty), and tres leches cake (yum). My partner also ordered the oysters and mahi mahi, which I didn't try, but which he really enjoyed. The service was as great as the food (our server, Adrian, was very helpful and friendly). We will definitely return if we find ourselves in Rochester again.

Diane B.

Yelp
We chose the focaccia and Brussels Sprouts as starters. The compound butter was amazing! All four of us had a pasta and argued over which one was better. Best pasta in Rochester! Fresh, innovative, not the same ole, same ole Americanized pasta.
google avatar

Caroline Y.

Yelp
Great addition to the Rochester food scene and perfect for date night! We particularly enjoyed the pineapple cooler, croqueta, and pork chop. As a dessert fiend, I hope to see their dessert options expand but for now it's fairly limited. I'd definitely come back again.

Haley M.

Yelp
The Wife and my favorite Happy Hour in Rochester. Oysters and croquetas are delicious - we'll be back for the pork burger. Solid beer on tap. Great ambiance, no tvs, phenomenal playlist on the house music...Exactly the escape we need after a day of running errands.

Phil B.

Yelp
A most enjoyable anniversary dinner at Our Paladar. We were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. Kory gave us excellent service. Our Paladar and its staff have an air of very polished and friendly professionalism. The ambience is welcoming, warm, and classy with beautiful wood tones all around. The Butter Me Up cocktail was luscious, the oysters and croqueta superb, and the chicken and waffles and the risotto were absolutely delicious. The pavlova had a rum caramel sauce that is out of this world, though the meringue needed a little fine-tuning to achieve that perfect macaron texture that would make this dessert perfect. The Pineault des Charantes was a perfect finish. Magnifique!

Colleen S.

Yelp
A very nice experience. First time dining here, a January Sunday evening. Went w a friend; we shared pomme frites w/truffle salt and the croquettes. Both very good. Then I had the butternut squash gnudi and she had short rib risotto. Both delicious. In addition to the food the atmosphere is just so pleasant, the wait staff professional and attentive. It was a lovely evening.

Jordan R.

Yelp
Our paladar is an absolutely incredible choice if you're looking for a beautiful atmosphere, delicious cocktails, and unparalleled food! The whole staff stuck a perfect balance between friendly and professional. I cannot get enough of the yucca fries and have DREAMS about the gnudi!! I also really love how their menu is constantly being changed and tweaked so that no matter how many times you go back there is something new and yummy to try! This spot is perfect for date night, catching up with friends, or taking out your visiting family! Cannot recommend enough!

raheem j.

Yelp
Very great service, server was very knowledgeable of the menu. The food was very well balance and season perfectly, the server assisted was very welcoming and friendly at the table clearing all plates and filling water. Best restaurant in town with the best outstanding services.

Maribeth V.

Yelp
excellent cocktails, food and service! make reservations because word will get out that this place is the best date night place in Rochester
