Tony met with chef Marcus Samuelsson and his wife Maya. They had beyaynetu, a platter of various stews including goman (sauteed greens), shiro wat (chickpea stew), tikil gomen (sauteed white cabbage); all served with injera bread.

When you come to hear, they have a really beautiful display and they are going to serving a really traditional coffee and they have mushrooms. Also, they have different variety of foods for locals and international. Can you enjoy very much I enjoy very much. I recommended here the place is very quiet. Enjoy with sweet Abel.

Delicious Ethiopian food in a lovely setting. We were treated to dancers who were amazing! If you're new, try the Katagna Special, which is a selection of dishes and easily feeds 4. 💳 Takes credit card

Doro wat a bit hard meat (unexpected) But tasty. Injera was good. Few beer choices. The seat are not comfortable, low and constrain to have loud conversation because it's impossible to get narrower

I went in for a late lunch and was not disappointed. The food was excellent, and it felt amazing to return to this restaurant after six years and find the same great vibe and consistency in quality. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Ethiopian cuisine. The shiro here is my absolute favorite!

Great experience - warm atmosphere and most importantly, delicious food! Had tibs and don’t remember the name of the second order. Maybe wut. Owner was so nice and offered a free macchiato on the house. Thanks, Kategna!

Everyone recommended this place to me. I guess it was a bit higher quality than other places. At least it tries to be. It's definitely more expensive. A nice restaurant. Not sure if it's worth it.

Kategna is an absolute gem of a restaurant and an experience you won't want to miss. We started with the meat firfir, and every bite was an incredible blend of savory spices and tender injera. The siga wot was equally impressive—the meat was so flavorful and cooked to perfection, with a rich, authentic sauce that truly stood out. Beyond the fantastic food, the entire atmosphere of the place is magical. The interior is stunning, filled with beautiful, intricate Ethiopian artifacts and decor that create a warm, inviting, and truly immersive dining environment. It’s clear that so much thought went into every detail. What really sealed the deal for us was the service. The staff was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout our entire meal, making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. It was genuinely a top-class experience from start to finish. I can't recommend Kategna enough; it's the perfect spot for delicious, authentic Ethiopian food and a wonderful evening out.

A specifically came to this restaurant for their doro wat, but what I seem to have been served is a small tiny drumstick of chewy meat in a big bowl of sauce with one egg. I paid a premium price for this. Everything else was fine at the restaurant. But my main dish was minuscule and chewy. I'm definitely not returning to this restaurant.
