Food was amazing! Fried rice, crab Rangoon, crispy egg rolls were yummy. Our 2 sushi rolls were amazing. Able to sit outside, and Grand is such an inviting vibe.

The sushi was the best I've had in a long time! Edamame was a great beginning to a memorable dining experience. Sat outside.. Had some great hot tea and tried to devour all the sushi.. but ended up taking some home! I plan on going back soon .. Absolutely delicious and GREAT service!!

All of the food is good but the cheesecake stands alone as being amazing. Staff are super friendly especially the waiter Jay (I think I got his name right).

Google
We love how spacious this place is! There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces! Their sushi is bigger than most restaurants which was a pleasant surprise considering the price. So delish! We got the miso soup, scallop roll and Fuji roll. The Fuji roll was our favorite! A must try!

Google
The sushi was super fresh! Crab rangoons were sooooo good and so fresh! Quite yummy sushi rolls but a bit pricey

I went to try their happy hour. Spoiler, they didn’t have one. I was told they don’t monitor that so it’s not updated. My service was good. My server didn’t come by a million times interrupting. He and the busser came the right amount of times for me. My sushi was good and wine was cold. I sat outside where a bee kept trying to assault me🤣. It was a nice afternoon. I’m pretty sure I will go back again. I was starving so forgot to take pictures.

My partner and I walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. The staff was so kind and even joked with us since my partner had never used chopsticks before. Excellent food and variety as well! Overall had an amazing time, thank you staff for making our 1 year anniversary so special.❤️

Google
We've loved Cafe Mochi for years! The Volcano Roll and gyoza are absolute must-haves, as are the Vietnamese iced coffees. I think we prefer the vegetable crispy spring rolls over the pork, but I'm glad we tried the pork! Another awesome experience as always.

Yelp
We were in town for vacation and wanted a really good sushi spot. This was one of the top recommendations we got from the locals. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a private party going on, but we gladly sat outside because it was absolutely the perfect time of day. We were given our drinks and some time to look at the menu. There wasn't as much of a selection as I wanted, but husband and I both found a roll we wanted to try, plus we always get a Philly anywhere we go. I got the Fuji, and my husband got the Godzilla. The rolls were okay. I thought my roll was mostly going to be raw, but it was hot, like it had been cooked. My husband did get a cooked roll, and it was good. The Philly was perfect. We were checked on multiple times, and overall, it was a good experience, I just wish the sushi would have been a little better.

Yelp
Cafe Mochi is a vibrant sushi restaurant on South Grand in St. Louis, known for catering to a wide spectrum of sushi enthusiasts, from novices to experts. The interior walls are adorned in shades of pink and purple, creating a unique vibe. As we indulged in their sushi, the 2000s good tunes are taking over. I tried the lemon drop roll with salmon, crab, cream cheese avocado, lemon zest, trout roe & topped with white fish, honey wasabi mayo, scallions, tempura crumbs and a crab stick. Protip: add jalapeño for some spice. Peep my yelp chopsticks!

Yelp
Been here a few times & my favorite is the Hawaiian! It's like a dessert in a roll. Seriously. There's a dip that taste like fruit dip with a pineapple topping. Good service. My waiter was nervous about my cough so he brought me a lemon tea to help soothe & I think it did actually help! I love that you can choose inside or patio seating. Would definitely be awesome for patio szn. Try out Cafe Mochi on S. Grand!

Yelp
Used to live on south grand and this place was my go to sushi place. They have the cutest location even tho the parking situation was ideal and I was always afraid that someone will give me a ticket. They have many items on the menu their pho noodle was surprisingly not bad, the sushi was definitely fresh and tasty! Will come back again if I'm in the area!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This sushi place never disappoints and it's open on a Tuesday! Tried a new roll to me called the Volcano Roll. Wowza! So yummy and what a presentation. We also had the tempura which is always good! We had a great server who made sure we were well taken care of. We sat upstairs and it was clean and inviting.

Yelp
I was looking for a place for lunch this Saturday and a local foodie recommended Cafe Mochi . Suddenly, I was craving sushi. The parking around this place is lacking but I was able to secure a spot not too far away and this is one of my favorite parts of St Louis so I wasn't too upset. We had a little wait time but nothing too bad. I did not realize that this place had a whole other section in the back. Our waiter was nice enough. Where we were sitting they did not have the lights on, and I'm assuming this is because there's a lot of sunlight that comes in so that's why you see Shadows on the pictures. My eyes were way bigger than my stomach and I ordered too much food. But it was all delicious. The rice is enough to share with a friend and the sushi rolls were a decent size. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite spots over the years!! Amazing staff, cute spot, and the best crab Rangoon! I love how proportionate the filling to wonton ration is. I highly recommend the coconut curry pho, the plum wine, pink giesha (like a pink drink from Starbucks but a cocktail), and the mochi Rangoon!!
google avatar

Jaz M.

Yelp
I came in to place a to go order so I didn't get the full experience but it was still nice while I simply waited inside. They have a small parking lot right next door and lots of street parking. I ordered the lemon drop roll and some kind of shrimp tempura one. They were both, REALLY good. I loved the lemon zest on the roll and the tempura was nice and crunchy. I will definitely be back to dine in. I want to try the hibachi shrimp dinner next time. ;) Give it a taste!

Yelp
Staple place for sushi in St. Louis. We came to them when they first open and I keep coming back for years and years and years. Love this place always fresh always nice and the owner is very cool too.

Yelp
Oh my goodness...... so many choices and when we were finally able to decide, we were thrilled with our choices. Everything was great, from the location of our table, to our fabulous waitress and the amazing rolls we shared. The Edamame was so good, Miso soup, spot on, and the 5 various rolls filled the 4 of us up. I love the cozy feeling Cafe Mochi has. It's very welcoming.

Yelp
After wandering down Grand and hovering around Cafe Mochi, a young lady walking by casually said to my friend and I to go ahead inside and order a Lemon Drop Sushi Roll. It piqued my interest wondering how it would taste. So we go inside. We were seated right away upstairs and judging by the smell (also shortly affirmed later) by the restroom. I try to tune out the pee smell and carry on with dinner since so many others have boasted about this place. I have a very sensitive sense of smell. It had very low lighting so I felt like I needed a tiki torch to see the menu and to see my thoughts on what I would decide to eat. I decided to order some crab rangoon, a ginger salad and a chicken teriyaki roll. My friend ordered tempura fried veggies and the Godzilla roll. The veggies really didn't have much flavor on the veggie itself nor its batter however the batter was very light and crispy. The ginger salad was nice and cold and the crab rangoon was built differently, but in a good way. It was more like a wonton/mini empanada. The dipping sauce it came with was amazing too. My chicken teriyaki roll was like rolling up a chicken teriyaki wrap in just rice intead of a tortilla. It was very filling and the chicken had a smokey taste to it. That wasabi will clear your sinuses out for the next 3-5 business years. Maybe I'm a little sensitive! The Godzilla roll was pretty good. It was a tempura roll so more fried stuff! Although some of the food lacked the flavor I was hoping to get, it was still overall okay.

Yelp
Stopped by to have some sushi for lunch the other day. The service was good and we were able to be seated outside quickly. We ordered one regular roll (spicy tuna), one speciality roll (red dragon), yaki soba-chicken, and crab rangoon for our appetizer. The only one I particularly liked was the spicy tuna roll. The other roll wasn't bad but pretty average tasting. Most of the rolls on the menu seem to be more tempura based which isn't my preference but would probably be perfect for someone who is new to sushi and hesitant about trying raw fish. The yaki soba was pretty standard, not super flavorful. The crab rangoon was my least favorite item. The inside of it was way too liquid/soupy. The price however was decent for the amount of food we ordered so no complaints there.
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
I took my aunt for lunch on her birthday and we both enjoyed our food. The volcano roll was top tier. The presentation alone has my attention. I would come back specifically for that. I'll pass on the crab rangoons. They were folded over like an empanada and the flavor just wasn't there.
google avatar

Layne D.

Yelp
In the mood for sushi and teriyaki, we decided to give this place a shot while in town visiting. We tried the Mochi Rangoons, Philly Roll, Unakyu Roll and the Chicken Teriyaki Dinner (chicken teriyaki, salad, rice, veggies). The rolls were fine, nothing special but they satisfied my craving. The chicken teriyaki wasn't a huge portion but was decent. The salad dressing was pretty solid. Overall nothing really stood out but if you're in the mood for sushi, it will do!
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
We sat in the outside patio area for dinner and I wish there were a bit more lighting as the sun set. There's street parking and small parking lot. I had the Alaska Roll and Red Dragon Roll and nothing to complain about. Nothing too fancy but satisfied the sushi craving. The service was a little slow but the staff were friendly. Overall, a decent spot if you're in the area and want a quick fix.
google avatar

Paige C.

Yelp
Cafe Mochi is great as take-away or when dining in. The staff was friendly and efficient either way. They seem to be pros with DoorDash/Uber Eats and/or pickup orders, they keep the line and orders moving. The dining room is spacious and wait staff were on it start to finish.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Food was great but it angels a little funny in the restaurant, thankfully they have outside seating!!! Order the volcano roll is delicious!!!
google avatar

Brianna N.

Yelp
My go to sushi take out spot! My husband & crave it allll the time. The sushi is fresh, the apps are warm & delish, even after the car ride. Our favorite rolls are the volcano, rainbow, and spicy tuna (basic, but sooo good). I swear they have the BEST crab rangoon in the city- the dough is lighter & crispy, and they're filled to the brim with perfect crab filling. My husband is not a crab Rangoon fan, but he insists we order these every time. The gyoza are also fire!
google avatar

Selena S.

Yelp
The sashimi appetizer was pretty good, the gyoza was packed with flavors. The pink geisha I believe it was called tasted like a strawberry milkshake it was delicious! Service was wonderful they were all very attentive and kind. Food came right on time as well. Parking is only street parking. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice modern style.
google avatar

Katrina M.

Yelp
The best Crab Rangoon ever. Light, airy and crispy. I've been eating here for years, and I will continue to do so.
google avatar

Haleh M.

Yelp
I would recommend Cafe Mochi! It was my first time there and I went for the full sushi experience. The sashimi appetizer was delicious and tasted fresh. The sushi was yummy although I wish the specialty rolls weren't so pricey. I loved the amount of ginger they gave us. The service was great! Our server was personable and fun and gave us good recommendations on how much food to actually order for two people. We were seated upstairs where they have both booth and chair seating. Dining area was clean but the bathrooms could have been a little cleaner. Good casual dining spot for a lunch date :)

Yelp
Been coming here for 10 years nothing has ever disappointed me and service is always good. Def a gem in Saint Louis.

Yelp
Pretty big fan of this place. There is a nice patio for outdoor seating and spots inside as well. I personally prefer the patio, but I haven't seen the upstairs interior yet. The sushi is definitely one of the better options for STL. My friend and I came here and absolutely destroyed some rolls. The prices were pretty standard. Service was pretty quick, and there was street parking available.

Alondra L.

Yelp
Loved the food server was so sweet! Definitely underrated spot in Saint Louis. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Shelby C.

Yelp
Freaking awesome! This place I found while visiting in the area and man they did not disappoint. The service was nice the food was excellent and affordable. The sushi rolls are made with love and the chefs take their time to prepare. Definitely a must try when in the area.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
Cafe Mochi is still my go-to sushi place when I am in a pinch and craving sushi. Nigiri: Scallops - Always a favorite of mine. I requested it be made spicy and it did not disappoint. Sweet shrimp - Nice. Not as sweet as most. I love eating the fried shrimp heads. Interestingly this time, they were on a bed of rice. Rolls: Hurricane - I didn't particularly enjoy this roll last night. Too much cream cheese that it overpowered the flavor of the fish; however, this morning, the roll (leftovers since it was my least favorite of the bunch) was not too bad. Seacrest - I love, love, loved the panko crumbs, which added texture to the roll; however, the roll was cut into odd proportions. Surely the two ends could have been sliced into four additional pieces. They were still delicious even though I had to eat these with my hands. All in all, Mochi is a solid choice for sushi on Grand. I don't have anything particularly negative about flavor or execution of my dinner tonight, albeit, my preference in general is less cream cheese (that's why I do not enjoy the Philly rolls!)
google avatar

Dainielle F.

Yelp
OMG SO GOOD! Ordered uber eats and I am so glad I did! I got the dragon roll and shrimp fried rice. DEVOURED them both over the course of two days. The dragon roll is huge but so tasty... arrived warm and full of flavor. I also really liked my shrimp fried rice because it was huge, not a lot of oil... I just added some red pepper flakes at home and boom- perfection.

Jahmia J.

Yelp
well I hate to say it but I don't think I'll be returning here again. I've been coming here consistently by myself since I moved to the area last year and while I enjoyed the experience it has SIGNIFICANTLY declined. I've notice a change in how I'm treated when I'm alone vs with others and honestly as a former server I'm horrified. In the past staff has always been friendly and attentive yet whenever I bring in a guest I'm met with the following: *No greeting from the waiter, just water and a Quick Look. * 20 minutes wait times just to order drinks/apps. * Forgotten items that are still applied to the bill * up to 20 minutes to wait for the check after asking/ getting it returned Anytime I've gone alone I've never experienced these things and I typically go when it's bustling. So to have the people I love be treated with such disregard is heartbreaking because i absolutely loved this place. Do better.
google avatar

Felion R.

Yelp
They said doordash picked up my order and made me wait an hour and took thier time to prepare my order. That is not professional
google avatar

Len L.

Yelp
STL is opened up for in/out dining so we tried CM and was able to get an outdoor table that had 10% of the table infested with ants which I moved myself to an neighboring table. I ordered a bunch of house special rolls which did take longer to come out but eventually made it to table. Service was decent and seems 80% of all the tables inside was filled. Food was good overall. Parking was plentiful on side residential streets.
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
Came here for bday brunch. Waited for it to open. My son & GF came home all the way from Como, sat outside for 30 mins and no food. They forgot tturn in our order. My kids missed practices cuz of this poor service. What a dissappoinment. How does a server edding forget to turn in an order. Worst part was there was no sign of remorse whatsoever. Sad.
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
The food was delicious but not for the price. If that makes scense. Service was horrible it was very chaotic. They were very overwhelmed to say the least. Will not go back. The place needs a refresh to it.
google avatar

Faye C.

Yelp
Adorable sushi restaurant, less of a bar, is cafe Mochi. I recommend to anyone and everyone because everything always looks on point and tastes so good. Within the realm of what's going on in the world- the service is okay so try to keep that in mind.. don't come in if you're in a rush! Bring a group to keep you entertained while you wait for your delicious food (: Get the volcano roll- it's worth the wait.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
My friend has raved about cafe mochi for a while. Glad I finally go the chance to go with her after all this time. Cute spot. I like that the kitchen is downstairs when you walk in, and the dining area upstairs. The service is absolutely awesome here. Not only attentive, but super friendly people waiting on you. The sushi is good. Highly recommend the caterpillar roll!
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite. They have a nice patio and today was a perfect day to dine outside. I lived in Japan for several years and am pretty picky about Japanese food. Today I enjoyed a spicy tuna roll that was very well made and had a nice crunch from the tempura flakes inside the roll. For my meal I had the shrimp tempura. I liked that the plate was served with a variety of veggies. The rice was nice and was the perfect texture. My server was prompt and attentive. Overall, a good experience.

Yelp
I have heard many good reviews about Cafe Mochi but I have always been skeptical because they offer both Japanese and Vietnamese dishes on their menu and I thought it was an odd combo. Finally, this weekend I decided to try it out when the weather was nice enough for a picnic at Tower Grove park. Their menu offer very standard selections for sushi rolls that you can find in any other restaurants. They do have house special rolls if you want to try out. We ordered 2 rolls, unagi roll and shrimp tempura rolls, an they were pretty good. They did not blow me away for the price I was very much satisfied. The restaurant has an even better deal during the weekday lunch. For $12 you can get a combo of 2 rolls and for $15 you can get a combo of 3 rolls. On the weekend, this deal does not apply but we paid $14 for 2 rolls and were not mad about it. I highly recommend the Cafe Mochi Chirashi bowl because it came with a good variety of sashimi. The price was very reasonable for it as well. The quality of the fish was pretty good for what I paid. Rice was soft and cooked just right. I used to go to Sushi Ai whenever I want to get my sushi craving fixed but I think I found my new favorite now! I will be returning frequently.

Clara M.

Yelp
Ordered to go food. It was ready quickly. The food was exceptionally good! Staff were very friendly
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
Their sushi always tastes fresh and delicious. We tried the hurricane roll, Philly roll, and everything bagel roll. All were delicious. The everything bagel roll tastes mostly just like a fried Philly roll. My boyfriend tried the udon noodles, and wished the flavor packed a little more of a punch. We also had a side of crab rangoon. Their shape was different that I expected - they looked like dumplings. Regardless they were crisp and tasty.

Asa K.

Yelp
Very chaotic as always. No one answered the phone to accept orders, and there was no other way to order takeaway, since the only apps the restaurant is registered with do delivery only. So I walked over to the restaurant to place my order. No one approached me for a LONG time at the place the signage said to stand. When someone finally did, they took my order very efficiently and said "It's going to be a while" but didn't offer to take my phone number to notify me when my order was ready or anything. When I came back to pick up my food, same chaos. Again no one approached me for a LONG time at the place the signage said to stand. Finally the food came out and it was pretty good and my order was accurate. The folks handing me my bag of food were courteous and earnest, but they were clearly uneasy about whether I had already paid. (For the record, I had paid, but there was no way for those folks to have seen that in all the chaos. There is just no system for anything there.) Oh, I forgot to mention the awful dogs that some guest had brought to dinner on the patio. They barked viciously at me as I walked by on the sidewalk. That's a shitty and unappetizing experience. Of course, the restaurant can choose to let any dog on the patio, but there are consequences.

Yelp
Cafe Mochi is such a solid place for sushi in St. Louis!! The location is so perfect, located in the thick of the South Grand business district. Parking can be a bit of a taxing process, but I truly think that the quality of the food at Cafe Mochi more than makes up for it. I recently visited for take out as they are still really only doing dining on their patio. The process is super easy to place and order. They have an extensive menu listed, you make your selection, give them a call and it's ready very quickly. I called to make my order as I was leaving Soulard, and it was packed and ready to go by the time I arrived for pick up. Whenever I go to Cafe Mochi I ALWAYS order a volcano roll. This roll is consistently my favorite. It is smothered in a creamy sauce that is decadent and flavorful. I LOVE the crab and scallops that are on top of the roll too. It can be a little precarious to eat because there are so many toppings. I usually lick up the excess sauce on my plate. I have also become fond of the deep fried spicy tuna roll. The exterior is so crisp and the meat inside packs a huge punch! I love when spicy tuna is ACTUALLY spicy. For the portion sizes you receive, I think that Cafe Mochi is pretty fairly priced. It's a great place for lunch or dinner dates.
google avatar

Kendra B.

Yelp
So, I love sushi. I love drinks x I love my bestie who I went with. The sushi was phenomenal! The drinks are phenomenal. The atmosphere was laid back and chill. I am going back to Cafe Mochi and dragging more of my family & friends with me. If sushi isn't your thing, they have plenty of other food you can order & will love!
google avatar

Midori G.

Yelp
We went in for dinner during the week and were sat right away. The tables are spaced out in accordance to social distancing. What we ordered: the Maui roll was delicious! The fish tasted so fresh and the flavor combo was amazing. The spicy white fish roll was also good! It was served in to go containers which was kind of weird because we did dine-in, but I understand given the circumstances! I haven't been to too many good, casual sushi places in stl so this Cafe Mochi was a joy to discover!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Don't bother. The food is excellent. The service and organization is awful. It ruined a beautiful birthday meal for a party of 6 people. Ordered two apps, they came out 20 minutes apart. Each dinner dish was served no less than ten minutes apart. By the time the last dish came, the first person was finished. When I spoke to the manager there was no apology. None. He said,"We tried our best. You want to see kitchen and tell us how to do it?" Very poor customer service. On top of all that, they had the nerve to charge a 20% gratuity. Won't be back.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Finally made it to Cafe Mochi after hearing my friends rave about it for months and it did not disappoint! I've had the hardest time finding good sushi in the city so I was thrilled about how good this place was. We got the crab Rangoon and the volcano roll and both were incredible. The service wasn't incredibly fast, which was fine since we were in no rush, but our server was very friendly. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Sami B.

Yelp
Been wanting to try here for a while because I've heard amazing things and they did not disappoint! We started out with Drinks, I got a specialty cocktail - Tokyo Sunrise was decently sized delicious and only $7.50! Can't beat that! We started with Gyoza & Rangoons - both were out super quick and were freshly made and steaming hot. They both had amazing flavor. We went with the Seacrust Roll and Volcano Roll. We branched out with the seacrust roll and personally it was not my cup of tea, it had really good flavor it was just too rich for me and didn't realize it didn't have rice so it was all kinds of seafood. It was one of those things where I'm glad I tried but next time I'll stick to what I know! The volcano roll was soo good though and more than enough to share! All the crab and scallops on top were amazing! The service was great and the place has an upstairs and was much bigger than it looked online! Can't wait to come back again
google avatar

Yelp
I visited Cafe Mochi on my lunch break from work during the week. There wasn't a crowd at all and we were immediately seated upstairs. Our waitress was very kind and offered some great suggestions. I trusted her opinion and ordered the Volcano roll. I was not disappointed. The roll was very filling that I couldn't even finish it all. I would definitely come back to try their other rolls. Soooo many options to choose from

Oh my goodness...... so many choices and when we were finally able to decide, we were thrilled with our choices. Everything was great, from the location of our table, to our fabulous waitress and the amazing rolls we shared. Yelp
Thank goodness the food was good because the service was so disappointing. We sat outside. The young lady didn't clean our table off for us to sit down but directed us to the table. When we asked her to remove the previous customers dishes she huffed as if we inconvenienced her and then proceeded to place the dirty dishes on the table right behind us. Not sanitary, not a good deterrent of flies and no cleaning between customers during Covid times. We also had to ask for a straw TWICE, she never cleaned off any tables voluntarily; while we were sitting out there. Another group had to ask her to clear their table from previous customers as well. Then our food came out very sporadically and even though we told her we were sharing while placing the order she still only brought out one pair of utensils and no extra plates. We had to cover our plates from flies as we waited for our last shareable plate to come out. I don't know how busy it was on the inside but there were only three tables occupied on the patio. Again, the food was pretty good!! Crab ragoons yum, shrimp fried rice, delicious. Lastly, the saving grace were the two young men that came out near the end of our visit to bus tables. They were friendly, engaging and what I expected in the beginning. Give Cafe Mochi a try, but if you are in a hurry I'd recommend takeout instead of dine in.

Yelp
Wide variety of items to choose from on the menu & very reasonable prices. Sushi was delicious & fresh tasting. Loved the ginger dressing on the house salad. Vegetable tempura appetizer was also very very good. Great, friendly, fast service. We sat outside on the patio & vibe was very laid-back & enjoyable.
