Inside Pujol’s 25th Anniversary Party

"A handsome Spanish cantina in Roma Norte, it features a dining room as large as a high school cafeteria, and a disco ball that descends from the ceiling helps set the mood." - The MICHELIN Guide

2 Days in Mexico City

"With no music, overly bright lights, and many of Roma Norte’s coolest chattering to a loud buzz, this classic cantina offers an old‑school setting that’s very much alive." - The MICHELIN Guide

"By day, the Covadonga's denizens are generally old Spanish guys playing dominoes and eating traditional Asturian delicacies like tortilla espanola, but by night it's a whole different demographic that flocks here. Young local hipsters arrive around 7pm to begin their night out with a few beers—and shots—among friends. It's an old cantina—a traditional drinking den—and the futbol is always on TV, the aging waiters wear prim black vests over starchy white shirts, and the interiors haven't had a makeover in what feels like 50 years. It's comforting to know, though, that even in the Roma, one of the hippest parts of town, some places never change."

20 Best Bars in Mexico City | Condé Nast Traveler

"This ancient salon is a great at accommodating large groups, whether it's your extended family or the whole neighborhood watching the World Cup. Though there's a full bar and a food menu chock full of Spanish classics, you're here for the ambience more than anything else, so keep it simple. Order a tequila, rum and Coke, or a carajillo, and if you get hungry, stick with a plate of French fries." - Scarlett Lindeman

I loved my shrimps in garlic sauce, the fish was very big and tasty, however my friends weren't as happy with their dishes, not in a way that it wasn't good, but it was just ok. The waiters were very nice and the service was great. The acoustic in the restaurant is terrible and you can barely hear what the guy next to you is saying.

Really loud, 100+ people in open space and everyone talking at once. Food: 2 dishes were ok and 1 was straight up inedible, and to top it off I had food poisoning right after.

Google
Classic old bar and restaurant in Mexico City, Spanish style food, all very tasty, waiters are very professional taking care of guests. You can see a lot of old people that I can guess are all life customers, some playing dominoes. Paella is very good.

Yelp
Food- excellent classic Spanish restaurant. Cesar salad is a must as is the Atuna Empeñada. Desserts were all amazing! Service - excellent veteran staff that as a team all night. Ambiance- very nice, just got really loud in the main dining room when the restaurant filled up.

Yelp
As part of my tour of CDMX traditional restaurants I stopped for late lunch at la Covadonga. The restaurant is a large room amenable for all sorts of groups, from a single person small table to very large settings for 10+ groups/families. Noisy of course, but fun! After a long wait and need to stand up to get the menu. I ordered a mix of cold meats, from jamón serrano to different types of sausages/chorizos. I asked for and advice of what wine will be good to pair and the waiter could not describe their house wine. He just said, "it is a cheap wine", but "if you want an expensive wine...". He was obviously very tired distracted with some sort of an argument with a family that was paying their bill and asking questions. Back to the food, sorry, below average. Will give it a try again, assuming that I just got a very tired and somehow not that gentle waiter and the wrong dish for the place.

Yelp
Nice local classic cantina. Good inexpensive mexican and spanish food and cocktails. Good service. Local feel.
