Why Tucson's Desert Food Scene Is Unlike Anywhere Else in America | Bon Appétit

"A dedicated mezcal bar I visit to learn as much as to drink, it shares space with celebrated coffee shop Exo Roast Co. in a small adobe building in Barrio Viejo; the room doubles as a music venue and serves bar snacks like tamales prepared by a local abuela. Cultural anthropologist Doug Smith offers courses and monthly tastings here, and one evening with him took me from a Sonoran bacanora to a Puebla mezcal made with bovine fermentation to an Oaxacan pechuga, underscoring how no two bottles—even from the same distiller—are exactly the same and how these spirits are meant to be enjoyed and shared to the last drop." - ByVon Diaz

Daytime coffee roastery turns nighttime mezcalería with guided agave tastings and borderlands spirits. Celebrated by national drinks writers and local critics; often involved in the Agave Heritage Festival. Educational, convivial, and distinctly Tucson.

This location is my favorite! Indoor and Outdoor seating with shade. The interior is clever and chic. Great seating to read, relax, and work if you too! Their paclage coffee is fabulous!!! Orange Cardamom Latee=👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 DELICUOUS!!!

We stopped in for a morning coffee and were blown away! The chiltepin cold brew was delicious—The notes of chocolate with a pleasant hint of chili was great. We also tried the orange cardamom latte (a bit out of the norm for us since we’re usually black coffee drinkers who go for a light roast pour-over), but it was such a fun treat! Both drinks were fantastic—balanced, unique, and expertly made. We’d definitely come back and order again!

One of the best matcha lattes I’ve had (extra dark), and the cold brew was excellent as well. The interior was both cozy and very cool.

Chiltepin is my favorite spice for Mexican cooking. Thanks to Google maps, I found out this coffee shop uses chiltepin! The cold brew blends the spice with chocolate for a refreshing yet invigorating experience. The savory croissant complimented my coffee. 😋

The vibe is everything. It feels so comfortable like you're just hanging out at your cool friends house. 😆 I ordered the most simple coffee, an Americano, and it was amazing. I was here during a giving Tuesday event they hosted. The little patio was perfect for a small vendor event. They also had a social hour going on in one of their rooms for people learning Spanish and people learning English, to chat and practice speaking. Even with all this going on it still felt cozy, calm and comfortable.

Incredible low key coffee spot in a historic neighborhood. It feels like you’re being welcomed into someone’s home, warm and inviting. Great patio and wonderful options as far as different rooms and seating inside. Perfect for a sit down with a friend or a bigger meeting with several. Cappuccinos we’re perfect.

Blown away by this quaint coffee shop! The vibes here are just superb. Great spot to get work done or just relax. I’d recommend it to anyone who is wanting a cute place to read a book, take pics and enjoy a nice cup of coffee!

Just loved this very cozy cafe! I loved spending time drinking my matcha latte and looking at the different areas of this coffee shop. I ordered a matcha latte with vanilla and it was wonderful. However, it seems like this is more of a cafe to talk with friends or read a good book than one to work on your computer because of a lack of wifi, which was a bummer, and very surprised they did not offer wifi. I visited in the summer and it was a bit hot inside the cafe but still enjoyed the space of this cute Tucson cafe.
