All the Food and bakery items are Delicious my favorite place to buy. The cost of item's are very affordable and is only cash no credit cards or checks. Been going here for year's, and I drive 35 minutes just for the Food. Yummy

Jacobo's might be the perfect, South Omaha, large-scale Bodega. It has a wide variety of products and a reasonable supply on-hand of each. The piñatas and Mexican imports definitely lend it a certain Latin authenticity, but it's the deli at the back that is the cherry on this fried ice cream sundae. We were on the hunt for some variety packs of bottled soda, but the steady stream of patrons for the quart-sized salsa containers told us we will need to make return trip!

This was my first time going to Jacobos and might be my last. They have a decent selection of Mexican goods, but that's probably the only reason I'd return. If you aren't a Spanish speaker, the deli counter is a bit intimidating. I heard many good things about their salsa, but it's just okay in my opinion. It also looked like they had four varieties behind the counter, but there were only two choices on the menu they have posted. I didn't receive what I thought I was ordering. There were some communication issues between me and the person helping me, who was also very softspoken, so it was confusing for me to order, even after asking for clarification. There is also the added pressure that so many people are in line, so I didn't want to take up too much time ordering. I was very disappointed in the pork as well. I took it straight home to refrigerate for later, still all wrapped up. When I opened it (same day), most of the pieces are completely dry with no flavor! For $8.99/lb, I couldn't believe the lack of quality. It seems as though lack of quality are what some others have posted in their reviews in the last year as well. I'm going to have to throw it away because I'm not sure it can be salvaged. I also purchased a bag of their tortilla chips, but they are stale. The package states they are packaged at Jacobos, but there are no dates, so not sure how fresh they are. I don't know if I just went on an off day or something, but I probably won't go here again aside from getting some of the Mexican candies/drinks. They have a huge selection of Jarritos and a nice (decently priced) selection of Mexican candies. They also have a good sized parking lot, so that was nice. The employees were friendly. As others stated, the store is cash only. At the time of writing, they have an ATM in store.

Busy place. Many options. Good food to go. Tamales are ok. There's more masa (dough) than meat. I realize that it takes a lot of work to make them but for $25 a dozen I think there could be more meat and less masa in them.

It was my first time there and it had such delicious tamales and salsa etc...I am from California so finding a good tamale place was becoming a challenge. The Pan is so good.

The place was packed. Long lines. That only confirms what I believe, the food and groceries are and of good quality. But with quality comes price and at Jacobo's there's no exception to that. Bring your pocketbooks and your appetite.

Jacobo's has been a staple for me for many many years. A great grocery store, but their burritos and in house tortilla chips have always kept me coming back.

I LOVE this place so much! Can we just say "authentic"??? Their tamales, their beans, rice, fresh bread, fresh tortillas, fresh cheese, and OMG their amazing chips and hot, mild and green salsa...DELICIOUS....it had to be day TODAY..for the Huskers Game...parking is great...right on a corner!

Still stands - best salsa (mild flavor) and chips. Will even wait for 15 minutes in line to get it If you get the hot salsa, be ready for some heat

First...CASH ONLY. ATM inside but if you're hungry or in a hurry, bring cash. Fresh Salsa, Fresh Chips. It will change your life...I mean maybe not everything will be fixed but it's delicious and you won't be hungry anymore. Rice is good. Tamales are good. Nice community and local stop. Fun waiting in line with people, with the same spirit in mind.

Great enchiladas excellent salsa chips are home made it's all so good it's my favorite place to go and bring them home for my kids when they are coming into town

I love this grocery star. Enchiladas, sauce, chips and tamales never disappoint. I go early in the day, it gets pretty crowded. Thru also have baked goods.

Actually lived up to its billing. $2.50 for a legit burrito is impossible to beat. Everything here is so authentic and obviously made fresh.

Seriously good tamales, salsa and hot food bar. Bring cash or be prepared to use their in store atm as it's a cash only establishment. Frozen tamales available in the freezer section too. Nice authentic Mexican food with out the usual Midwest taint that you find at other "Mexican" restaurants around town.

The tamales were soo good 9/10 would recommend. Get the tamales and a salsa! Trust. Yessirrr lol and the sauce will taste amazing

Their salsa from the deli is the best I've ever had. People from all parts of Omaha go there to get it fresh. I drive up from Papillion every few weeks. You might have to wait in line 10-15 minutes to get the salsa, but well worth the wait. They don't accept debit or credit cards. Bring cash or use their ATM. Their ground beef enchiladas from the deli are very good as well.

Best chips and salsa I've ever had. Every-time I'm in town, I buy the medium red salsa, the green.very hot and the hot red which is my favorite. Great little grocery store with tamales, beans, rice etc. Always a line from the front door so bring your patience and cash only.

OMG the chips and salsa are as good as you'll find. I've gone twice within a few weeks and found the salsa heat to be variable, which I didn't mind since it's from scratch. Just make sure you plan to wait in line a bit

Jacobo's is one of the best groceries in town for authentic Mexican fare. The chips and salsa are the amazing - we recently had a party and I probably had 10 people tell me Jacobo's tortilla chips were the best they ever had. I don't love that you have to wait in the deli line for the salsa - it seems like it might be a bit more efficient to have that in a refrigerated section where you can grab on go, but nonetheless, make sure you plan to wait in line as there is always a high demand. Definitely worth going out of your way for!

If you love authentic Mexican food, go here, walk to the back of the store, stand in line (since there is always one) and order the salsa... It is the most flavorful, colorful, most fresh salsa you will have. Trust me. And a container of it is like... four bucks. Oh, and pick up the homemade chips to serve with it! TRUST ME. While you're there, make sure to pick up some tamales, enchiladas, any other meat or produce. Everything is fantastic and you will love every bite! Also, don't forget to bring cash. They don't accept cards, so either be prepared to pay the ATM fee or just bring about $20 for a few things and you'll be good.

Amazing Mexican grocery store down on 24th with an incredible hot counter! 24th st has quickly become my fav area of Omaha, with so many great stores and restaurants. Jacobo's is no exception! Jacobo's is a small grocery store that has every type of Mexican grocery product you can find, and of course the amazing hot counter with delicious prepared Mexican food. The prices are so low and fair-we got a dozen pork tamales, 4 enchiladas, a large rice, large beans, and red cilantro salsa and fresh chips for under $40! And this fed 5 adults with leftovers. So good. The line was all the way out the door too, so we we pretty excited as we waited because we knew it would be good. And it def was! You can also find a lot of speciality Mexican grocery items here way cheaper than you would find at a major grocery chain-we got a huge chunk of cojita for less than $3. We showed up at 5pm on a Friday, so they had run out of a few items (burritos and flautas) so I would suggest showing up earlier to avoid situations like that. They also only accept cash but so have a First National branded ATM at the front. Def suggest this place.

My favorite Mexican grocery in town. Very good selection of authentic prepared foods in the back of the store. Tamales, frijoles and rice, salsas and roasted pork. They also have fresh baked goods too. And fresh corn tortillas. Fruits and veggies are well-stocked. Make sure you bring cash. They do have an ATM, but at the register, you'll need cash.

Been coming here for two years and guess what? STILL LOVE IT! I have now tried just about everything they have in the deli and I haven't found a thing I didn't like. The prices are still the same as they were when I first went there, which to me is insane. It's not uncommon for me to take the bus to Jacobo's and get a burrito ($1.75) for lunch with beans ($1.10 small) and rice ($1.10 small) with some salsa ($3.75 large) for later. My husband loves the grande chicharrons ( $6.99/lb pork rinds basically) so of course I have to buy some for him too. In addition to all that they also have a pastry area which you can find desserts (although go to the International Bakery down the street I think they're better), fresh meat counter, cheese and a few lunch meats by the pound. They have tamales, freshly made masa dough, carnitas by the pound, roasted chickens, and several types of hot sauce. Seriously the list goes on and that's only the freshly made stuff. They also have some grocery items and the produce is usually good quality. In the two years I've come here, only had an issue with language barrier TWICE, but if you don't know how to speak Spanish feel free to point and grunt. that's all for me folks, I'm off to eat my burrito now!

Man, could salsa get any fresher and/or better? I think not. That, and a bag of house made tortilla chips and you are good to go. Just north of 24th and L Street, this little grocery store is about as far away from a chain supermarket as you can get (both literally and figuratively!). The salsa is made fresh in house. Don't be surprised if there's a line to get some. It's worth a special trip to purchase some for a party or other significant event. I heard the tamales are excellent as well. They are on my list but haven't tried them yet. Also, this place only accepts cash. There is a First National Bank ATM on site if you didn't bring your dollars with you. I'm not sure how long Jacobo's has been open but I have a feeling it's going to be around for awhile!

Yum! We checked out their eatery in the back - Jacobo's is a grocery store, and they're famously known for their Salsa with Cilantro as well as their handmade Mexican specialties. We got a bag of tortilla chips and a tub of their salsa, a corn tamale, a burrito, as well as a little bit of the savory tender pork. The salsa was fresh and had chunks of tomatoes and pieces of cilantro throughout. The tamale was wonderful, as it contained pulled pork and the corn itself was seasoned perfectly - it was very tasty! The burrito itself was good, too, filled with meat, beans, and cheese, all cellophane-wrapped. The little piece of the pork I got was very tasty - they charge you by the weight, and I should have gotten more - it was very delicious as it was very tender and juicy (I forgot the name of it). Definitely a cool place to check out if you're in the Omaha area! :D +get the savory pork! :D (by weight)

Most beyond amazing place to come to get chips and their kick ass salsa and oh don't get me started on the bread xoxox . I'm like a kid at Christmas every time I w Come here. Gotta check it out !!!!!

Can't believe how many years this has been around and I've been missing out. Since discovering a few weeks ago I've the one hour round trip down there 3 times!!! Today's bounty: 6 flauta's, 4 enchiladas, 2 bags of homemade chips, 1 lb of carnitas, huge containers of rice, beans, two kinds of famous salsa = $40. Enough food for the two of us to make several meals!

Still garbage to this day! EXTREMELY slow service from start to finish. Salsa not blended properly, lazily and hastily made with huge chunks of brown cilantro stems all strewn about. People eat this salsa that is loaded with MSG and think "why does this taste so good?!" it is comical. Who cares about the salsa, any idiot can make that. The tamales have never been good in my opinion. I was just in there the other day and purchased a couple pounds of carnitas, which were fantastic and super fatty, but they charged me an extra $2/lb by mislabeling it as chicharrón and they refused to correct it. Baffling. Cash only - an obvious money laundering front. You people are nuts! I will never set foot in here again

Food as always was great. Prices are creeping up a bit. Went today and spent a half hour in line. Only one person working the deli counter when the place seemed fully staffed. Ran over my lunch hour time......

When I'm in Omaha from Minneapolis I always stop here to pick up a few things. I love there Salsa and Chips. Carnitas. Tamales. I also shop there spices.

Best Mexican you can get in Nebraska... my dad is a linguist (Spanish) so that helps with the language barrier. the tamales are very good!! I always look forward to eating them when my dad brings them home to eat.

After reading the stellar reviews on this place my husband and I made our way to South Omaha to give this place a shot. A couple tips to start: come with a fork and be prepared to dine in your vehicle (if you're looking to eat a meal out). As for the food, unfortunately there were no vegetarian options. But I wasn't surprised in the surplus of meat, nor am I docking stars for that. We sampled the (beef) enchiladas, (pork) tamales, salsa and chips, and rice. The enchiladas were moist, and the meat was pretty good. Each enchilada had a very, very thin layer of cheese on the tortilla. The tamales were delicious. The salsa was very good, but I would rave about it only because it's a fantastic deal. We bought a medium sized container of salsa (I posted a photo) for $1.65. Why would you EVER buy Pace at the grocery store? And the rice was so fresh and moist and pretty darn delicious. Oh, and dessert. From the bakery I picked up a $0.35 sprinkled cookie. What I love about Mexican bakeries are that the sweets are not too sweet. They're light and semi-sweet and hit the spot after a salty Mexican meal. Yes, I'll be returning!

This has been a favorite of mine for over a decade when it comes to mexican food. The line can be long here often, but that's because the food here is very good and people can see that. Their red rice with vegetables are fantastic, as well as their flavorful tamales. Unfortunately sometimes they're out of stock on certain things because they get snatched really quick so get them while you can, but other than that there is no problems with this place at all.

I hesitate to leave this review, for fear of making the line even longer! However, it has grown in popularity so much as of late- I don't think anyone can stop them! Jacobo's is, in my opinion, the single best salsa in Omaha! It has some significant garlic and cilantro, but that is what makes it amazing. Don't fear the line, it's usual 30 min. or less as these folks work very hard to service everyone fast and efficiently. Do us all a favor, and have your order ready to go before you get to the counter! New to the place, and have an average pallet for spice? As a beginner, I'd suggest a large Red salsa, homemade corn tortilla chips, a few tamales and enchiladas as well as a pound of either carne asada or chicken that you can construct into some amazing dishes at home. While waiting in line most recently, I also discovered they have quite a steal on hot sauce and Tajin. Not only do they have JUMBO bottles of Chohula and Tajin, but cheap too! Grab a liter of Top-o-Chico on your way out, for Ranch Waters while you're at it! I miss the days of this place being a hidden gem, but am super happy for their success!

I first discovered Jacobo's on a high school trip to South Omaha with my Spanish class. Our teacher wanted us to get out of West O for some culture and a shot at practicing Spanish, so we took a big ol yellow school bus down to 24th street and wandered around. I found myself in Jacobo's because the place seemed to be getting a lot of foot traffic, even at a random time in the middle of the afternoon. In the many years that have followed, I've frequented Jacobo's for their great selection of the latin products I can't find elsewhere, and also for the experience of continuing to practicar mi espanol! They've got amazing fresh salsa and these homemade chips that I bring to my office for food days--and they get eaten up so quickly! They have these mini chocolate bars Carlos IV that are perfectly sized and a nice alternative to regular Hershey's. They have a variety of fresh meat products too, that are great for roasting and slicing into tacos. The place is clean and neat, and just feels homey. The owners do a great job of making you feel welcome and comfortable. They have a fairly large parking lot and I've never had trouble finding a spot, which is nice given that 24th street is usually bustling when I'm down there.

My family has been going to Jacobo's for more than 30 years. They have some of the freshest and best Mexican and Latin products in Omaha. I think that their hot Mexican delli is one of the best in the state of Nebraska. Also the store is clean. Once in a while the ladies behind the counter are lacking in customer service but that might be because the weekend lines are usually out the door. Today I ordered Half pound of carnitas (tender pork meat) Half pound of sopa de arroz (mex style rice) Half pound of nopales con cebolla y queso ( sliced cactus pads with mex cheese and onions they taste like green beans) Salsa de jitomate con cilantro the red salsa with cilantro Salsa roja de tomatillo During the week the line usually is minimal so I was in and out today Total cost around $15. Great price for great food. If you are newbie to this place, send me a message and I can send you some gastronomical suggestions E. G. They sell bolios, french rolls, that with with some carnitas and some salsa make awesome sandwiches that you can make sitting in your car of the parking lot. I give this place a 9 1/2 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being a yuk and 10 super great! ¡Buen provecho!

Still the bee's knees. Parking can be a pain....just buck up. $3.25 salsa will make you happy. The enchiladas are great, and so are the tamales. Always a line on the weekends but it moves quickly.

We read the reviews on Yelp and decided to give them a try on a recent trip to Omaha. Not sure what we were expecting but the place is a grocery store with a deli/food counter in the back. They don't have a place to sit and eat the food so it is all takeout. We ordered Carnitas, tamalies, salsa from the deli. We also picked up some flour and corn tortillas and some chips. The corn tortillas were still warm. We got the food to go and sat in the car and ate it. They gave us some forks and napkins and that was all we needed. My wife and I agree that this was some of the best food we have ever had. Everything was fresh and very good. They cook everything in very large batches and was interesting to watch them all working hard in the kitchen behind the deli counter. We sat in the car and watched a lot of people come and go carrying their takeout containers. The price is cheap but they only take cash. I would recommend this place to anyone. You have to be comfortable going into a Mexican grocery store and buying from a counter. We will get more takeout to bring home next time we are in the area.

Jacobo's, you've ruined me... all other salsa is sub-par compared to yours. And now that Hy-Vee no longer carries the salsa I used to get to replace you on short notice, I'm now forced to drive 5 miles and make sure I have cash for my salsa fix. Everything in the deli is amazing, the other reviewers hit it spot-on. Even writing this makes me salivate a little... and it's 9am. Probably should just have some oatmeal instead. But after work tonight I'm going to buy some salsa!

Totally a fabulous place to get Mexican Food. I grew up in Southern California - I can say every time I see the bakery and the deli food counter at Jacobo's I get home sick. The food and bake goods take me back to being a child hanging out with my extended family the Garcia's. My best friend Juanita from Kindergarten - we would make tortillas, refried beans, rice with flank steak when her Papa was due home from him 14 day run on his 18 wheeler. He would walk into the house and say as loud as could be " Hello my wife, my babies where is the best food in the world in the kitchen of my wife who teaches all of you to cook the best Mexican dishes in my world. We made tamales at Christmas dozens of them for others in the family for their table. I love Jacobo's food could eat it everyday...not matter what.

Best salsa ever. Nothing compares to it! We got regular red and a smaller hot salsa. We also got a dozen tamales which were amazing! Now I can't buy salsa anywhere else!

What a great place to get authentic south of the border grocery items. They have a deli counter with a good variety of pre made eats. They also have some absolutely amazing salsa. I like the spicy stuff. Great tamales as well. I wish I lived closer so I could get that salsa more often.

Tamale. Tamale. Salsa. Salsa... their tamales and Salsa are seriously the best in town!! And it was only $13.50 for dozen of tamales and I don't even remember salsa price as it was close to none for that great taste. Highly recommend to stop by and grab some food here.

I typically purchase my salsa and chips here. They have quite a variety of salsa from red to green. The chips are equally as good. Many were ordering the hot prepared food at the back counter. I wish they had more selection of raw carne asada and pollo asada.

People aren't kidding when they talk up Jacobo's! The chips and salsa are super fresh and simply delicious! Not taking cards is a bit of a pain, but if you come prepared, you won't have any problems!

What keeps me coming back here? The salsa. I -need- the salsa. I had been here a time or two before but it was always to late and everything was gone from the deli. This time, I made sure to get there at the butt crack of dawn and stand in line with all the other people who wanted some of the awesome goodness of Jacobo's. They have fresh made carnitas, tamales, enchiladas and burritos as well as an in house bakery (We think they are better than International Bakery). BRING CASH! They only accept cash but there is an ATM on site.

Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to pay our last respects to Tostitos; they had a good run. May they rest in peace. Simply put, this place is love at first whiff. You walk in the door and immediately start to salivate from the scent of cumin, cilantro, peppers, and tortillas lingering in the air. Which is great and also awful since you probably will be standing in line for 20 minutes at the deli. I go to Jacobo's probably 2x a month to replenish and have yet to be disappointed - my best tip is to try going on a weeknight instead of the weekend and dodge some of the worst lines. I've tried a lot of their meat and sides, and they are all awesome... but they stop just short of their salsa. Their regular red salsa is addictive, amazing, and dirt cheap to boot and perfect with a bag of their homemade chips. Bottom line? Go here, and go here immediately, but say goodbye to your tolerance for chips or salsa from anywhere else.

Guys - This is THE place to get your hot & fresh tamales. Seriously - my mouth is watering just thinking about it. We like to take turns here in the office and pick up a dozen of tamales on the way to work. And once you're there, you just have to buy some of that famous chips and salsa. The family loves the carnitas on Sundays. We like to chop them up nice and fine - fry with a bit (more haha) oil, and enjoy some of the best tacos ever. They sell fresh bread. Rice & beans. Hispanic products that you might not be able to find elsewhere. The staff is polite and efficient - they know how to get things done. Just don't forget the cash! They don't take cards.

Jacobo's is a small Hispanic grocery store in south Omaha. I come here for their chips and salsa. It is the best! It is not hot and spicy, but is very tasty. I will eat a pint in one setting. Fresh made all the time.

Everything amazing you've heard about this place is true. Besides having all your basic groceries (including beer), Jacobo's has quite an array of tropical produce plus an always-busy meat/bakery counter, which features fresh cuts of your Mexican staples, sweet treats, a hot case with ready-to-eat fare and, of course, their famous chips and salsa. The prices are super reasonable! A bag of house-made tortilla chips (12 oz.) are only $2.39 a bag. Add in a large, 32 oz. container of their house-made salsa for either $3.25 (red) or $6.50 (green). That's a helluva deal for something so delicious. No wonder this place is always busy and so many people drive here from all over town. Planning a party? No problem. I needed chips and salsa for a couple hundred people. So I swung by a day early to see if I needed to place an order in advance. They simply said no and told me to "come back tomorrow." When I did come back, they remembered me and promptly filled my order. Success! Oh, and they also take your groceries out to your car if you need a little help -- you don't get that kind of service very often anymore. For me, the cash only thing is no problem, as they have a First National ATM right there in the store.

They have the absolute best salsa ever. You get a Quart of salsa for less than $4, I put it on and in everything. Just remember, if you come on a Saturday be prepared to stand in line and bring cash, they do not take credit cards.

Leave that jarred salsa and bag of Tostidos on the store shelf! The next time you're invited to a party and need to bring a dish, head to Jacobo's. Seriously. The fresh corn tortillas...the three salsas (get ALL three every time)....the frijoles...the carnitas...the bakery. Whether I'm picking up a few things for dinner with the fam or snacks for a get together, Jacobo's comes through. Just thinking about this little grocery store makes my Mexican food craving kick into high gear.

I had heard about a place in South Omaha that sold salsa that was in high demand from some coworkers. Unfortunately, they had not yet been and didn't know the exact place. Luckily, my wife has a FB friend from Omaha who mentioned Jacobo's and my wife asked if I knew about it. Once I read the reviews on Yelp, I knew it had to be the place about which my coworkers spoke and I knew we had to go. I was prepared for a long long line upon entering at around 10:30 on a Saturday but it was only about 8 or so deep when we arrived. To be honest, I didn't even know for what I was waiting in line! I saw the line, knew it meant something was good at the end, and assumed it was salsa. What I found when it was my turn to order was a literal smorgasbord of Mexican food goodness. Not only salsa but tons of hot foods, like carnitas, roasted chicken, burritos, tamales, and other things that I have yet to, but plan to, identify. We ordered a medium salsa ($1.90), six chicken flautas ($1.50 each), 2 pork tamales ($1.25 each), a half pound of carnitas ($4.99/lb.). The flautas were a huge hit with my wife and boys. They barely made it out of South Omaha. The tamale was so good, a perfect combo of meat and masa. I like my tamales with a thick masa and this fit the bill but still remained moist and flavored well from the pork. The carnitas were stellar. Sometimes when I get carnitas at a restaurant, it comes out in giant chunks and can get a bit dry. These are shredded smaller and were so good. The kids and I made short work of the half pound. The salsa was very good, not amazing, but definitely better than store bought and for the price, a fantastic deal. Woohoo! That's the rating this place gets from me and also the expression I said to myself when I walked into this little gem. I fell in love the minute I walked in and even as I type this review, I am trying to figure out when I get to go back. It's worth the trip and the time. I highly recommend it.
