"An upscale, beach-adjacent day-drinking wildlife wine-tour operation known for its giraffe Stanley has faced widespread complaints after taking payment for wine-tasting and wildlife packages that were never delivered during the pandemic and failing to issue refunds. Local reporting found dozens of customers who purchased tours while the grounds were closed; one customer who spent $900 on a September bachelorette outing says she was only offered a voucher for a hike or bike tour and cannot obtain a refund, and numerous Yelp reviews show similar March 2020 bookings left unresolved. The business, run by the Semler family and associated with Saddlerock Ranch, is also under scrutiny after the California Department of Fish and Wildlife seized Stanley amid allegations the operation lacked required county permits to run a business with wild animals; Stanley is being held “in place” due to logistical transport challenges." - Mona Holmes
