Awesome food for a great price! The one thing I thought was the upgrade to lo mein instead of fried rice wasn't worth it. The rice was awesome and the noodles just weren't as good. Also, some portions vary somewhat. Both of our meals tasted great though! The robot was so cute too!

I picked up lunch twice from here while in town for SmallSat. It is very convenient to the Salt Palace Convention Center. The staff was very friendly and helpful for my takeout order. The food is not 100% authentic but is much closer than what you typically find. I found the ability to make dishes spicy on a scale very nice as it allows you to tailor things to your tolerance nicely. I ended up getting an egg roll each time which was very tasty as well. One thing I’ll say is that it is very reasonably priced especially for being in downtown. Overall value is excellent and would grab lunch here again when in town for the conference.

Super yummy. Great prices for the lunch special. I really liked the mandarin chicken. The fried rice was super yummy.

We have been eating at J wongs 1-2 times a year for the past 5 years. This will be the last time. The portion sizes are literally half of what they used to be. We came with a large group and ordered more family style thinking the portions were the same as they have always been. Boy were we surprised when tiny portions were brought out. We had to order more food to feed everyone. The prices however have stayed the same. I am not paying premium prices for poor quality food. I paid extra for “lo mein” side, but the noodles were soggy and hardly had any veggies in them. There was more breading than meat in all the meals. I feel like they thought we wouldn’t notice the lesser quality, but it is very noticeable. The service was awkward at best, the NYK waiter asked us to pass the menus down instead of handing them out one at a time. He also did this with our waters. Our waitress was nice. We spent over $200 on this meal and it was an awful experience. Panda Express would have been a better choice.

I hadn't been in 20 years, but the food is still as good. I ordered candied walnut shrimp and it was so good! We also ordered several appetizers and entrees for our whole party. We went at 4 pm on a Saturday. There were very few people, which we liked, but was also indicative that it wasn't as popular as it use to be. There are robot dumb waiters and real waiters who are attentive and helpful. The interior is looking worn. The carpet is very old and worn and several of the bench seats are cracked. But the food, bith presentation and taste, were fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend if you like sweet and sour, Mongolian beef, sticky mango rice, and sesame chicken. So much good food.

We waited then just sat down at a table. On my way to the bathroom at the back, one girl curled up in the last booth, playing with her phone, and one girl talking on the phone in the bathroom. Dirty plates. I used the paper towel from the bathroom, wet with water to clean it. We’ve Mongolian pork: good, except needs more cutting of the meat and fat green onion/scallion. Black pepper tofu: very good. The onion and bell pepper make the dish bit too sweet for me, either one with celery will taste less sweet.

Favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City and here's why: Everything we ate was fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. A dinner for 2 (hungry) people was $62 and included 3 appetizers, a soup, an entree, a side of noodles and a dessert. Also, they have a cat robot that helps your server to bring the food from the kitchen!

I come here all the time and recommend it constantly. We love that it’s a calm, serene atmosphere and how consistent they are with the food’s quality. Sure, sometimes the service isn’t that of a 5 star restaurant but it’s actually one of the reasons we like it! We’re not here to talk to a server about their day— we’re here to talk to one another and enjoy our food and the atmosphere. I love J Wongs, never want it to leave SLC, which is happening with so many eateries downtown these days. The Peking Duck here is phenomenal as is the General Tao Tofu. I like the simplicity of their Fresh Rolls with Peanut Sauce— wish they had mint in them, but no biggie! Their salmon with the bok choy leaves— so good. Tom Yum Soup and Tom Kha Gai is always great.

A colleague recommended J. Wong, so we walked to the restaurant. It is a nice, safe walk from our hotel near the Delta Arena. The restaurant was quiet. One hardworking staff member seated us and helped us with our order. A robot assisted her in bringing the food. The egg rolls had bacon, delicious! I ordered an old favorite dish, Singapore Rice Noodle. The taste reminded me of a restaurant where I used to order this dish in Oakland, California, back in the late '80s.

Uber eats order that was still warm. I had the tangerine and it was perfectly fried and crispy. Lightly fried and the crunch tasted like air was between it. The chicken coconut soup was delish!!! It was smooth, balanced and chunky white chicken filled the bowl. Yum!! Thai iced tea tasted like power mix. Granulated sugar crystals undissolved. And the fortune cookies were hard and stale. I also had the sticky mango pudding and the mangos were crunchy like apples. I have to give them a 3. They would get a 3.5 if possible. Tangerine was great. It's like a sweet generals Tso. Not spicy at all. Tom Goa soup was delicious. They lose points with the other 3 items and they have no points for the bottled ginger beer. That was delish yet bottled outsourced. All in all I'd go back if ever in SLC I'd get one of their chicken dishes, and def the soup.

Decor is good and comfortable. Service was not the best - not very enthusiastic or friendly. A little slow. The robot assistant for the server didn't impress me. Food was OK. I had the salt and pepper chicken wing appetizer. Lots peppers but not very spicy. Chicken fried rice was swimming in sweet sauce. All other dishes - pad Thai, drunken noodles, beef fried rice and shrimp fried rice, were acceptable but nothing special. For a Saturday night, the place was very slow, considering that the streets in the area were full of people.

Excellent food and service in this small cafe / takeout. Had the clear soup (fantastic) and their shrimp tempura!

We ended up eating here because we were running late. We had checked in at the Hyatt Regency across the street for a "staycation" and had tickets to the symphony. We were running 30 minutes behind and thus didn't have time to drive to the place we had planned to go for dinner. I honestly hadn't even considered this place, but since it was basically across the street, and I verified that they don't use MSG, we decided to go. Now that we have eaten there, I'm not sure I should write this review. I mean, I want them to do well, but I love that we didn't have to wait 45 minutes for a table on a Friday night. If I tell everyone how fabulous it is, it'll get more crowded, right? Serious dilemma here. Ok, so we walked in and immediately noticed the lovely, upscale decor. Beautiful artwork on the walls. Oriental lanterns with dim lighting hanging from the ceiling. And several "Best of State" awards near the cashier's desk. Our waitress was absolutely darling. I wish Incould remember her name, but I am so terrible with that. Anyway, she took such good care of us. I have an allergy to red food coloring and she went to the kitchen to find out which dishes would contain it so I could avoid them. I was super impressed when the owner came out to discuss the dye situation with us as well. Talk about caring for your customers! We only had to avoid the sweet & sour. We ordered egg rolls, the house fried rice, General Tao with beef, Kung pao pork, and Kao Soi with shrimp. A lot of the time when you get egg rolls, the cabbage inside is soft and mushy, or the outer shell is really greasy. These were light and crunchy and the vegetables inside were cooked but still had the perfect amount of crunch. The house fried rice was perfectly Salty and I love that it wasn't overwhelmed by frozen peas and carrots. I'd never had General Tao with beef before but it was amazing. It wasn't covered in batter like at other restaurants. It had a thin crispy breading which gave the perfect amount of crunch that allowed for the ability to still taste the beef and the sauce but still get a crunch. The star of the show was the Kao Soi. It's noodles in a red curry broth. It had a small amount of crispy noodles and lime wedges on top. I could have eaten an entire bowl of it by myself (except that everything else was so good). There were a LOT of shrimp in the bowl and they were pretty good size. They were nicely browned, which added a depth of flavor to the creamiest of the coconut and spiciness of the res curry in the broth. The squirt of lime added just the right tang to it. My only critique (if you can even call it that) would be to add a few more peanuts to the Kung pao, but then I tend to like a lot of peanuts. We got an order of mango sticky rice at the end. It was a VERY generous portion of mango, lots of rice, and it was really good. I will say that the portions are smaller than some of the other restaurants around, especially if you dine at Asian restaurants OUTSIDE of the downtown area. But I will also say that I prefer quality over quantity and I would hands down come here again in a heartbeat because the food, ambiance, and staff are hands down the BEST! P. S. One cool thing is that they have serving robots. Ok, so maybe I'm a dork, but I was super excited to see a serving robot in person. Their little faces are adorable and they wink, too. It makes it so the servers can mostly stay out front with the customers.

Went to Utah for Sanderson's Convention, and this was our first trip off the plane :) beef fried rice hit the spot! Noodles and Thai tea were solid Thank you to NELLY for the excellent service!

Ordered 2 appetizers, and 3 entrees. The bacon wrapped shrimp were very small, but they were very good. They were all delicious. Had to take some home in a to go box. Food came quickly and our server took great care of us. Highly recommend!

The food was delicious but service was lacking. Restaurant was empty, yet waitress took forever to approach our table and take our order. Then she stays talking to the table next door, and our service felt dismissive. The vibe was dead, it's a pretty place but there was no music, or anything.

Places like this are making the answer to "where's the best X place" more difficult. There are so many wonderful options, and this is one of them. This is not a hole-in-the wall dive, but rather a more upscale and modern restaurant that still serves delicious, authentic food. It's a more quiet ambience with a touch of class, so come prepared for a nice night. Service is subdued but attentive. And I love the little robot that delivers food to the table. These little guys are popping up and make me smile. I ordered the Mongolian Beef, which was super tasty. My only complaint was that there could have been a little more beef in comparison to the green onions. But otherwise, it was phenomenal!

Great food, better service, , good ambiance, and a good price. I dont know how long its been since I've had a true 5/5 meal but this has reset my clock! I ordered the thai spicy cashew and it was delicious! They even brought out the spice rack and offered chopsticks without me having to ask for them. Its my first time here but it feels like I've been here for weeks. My partner also enjoyed his thai basil, and a thai tea I would become a regular if I lived in SLC.

This place gonna be crowded or almost empty either way they're consistently fast and friendly with their Service and their food is always fresh!

Dined here for dinner last night since it was nearby from our hotel. We ordered fresh spring rolls, drunken noodles and sweet and sour chicken. Food was alright. Wasn't what we thought it'd be. We did takeout and ate at the hotel. Food was hot and fresh but flavors definitely not authentic. Prices are pretty fair considering this is downtown. Service was good and restaurant itself is very nice.

Been here a few times now. Consistent food and service. Not very busy and food came out quick. Server did what was expected and kept the drinks full. Cool little robot bussers.

The food was good, the service was good, the robot cracked us up. It was quiet and peaceful inside. We both ordered the Drunken Noodle entree. I wish it came with half the noodles and three time the veggies. We both liked the flavor and quality of our dinners.

The food was as good as the reviews I had read. I started out with the curry puffs and those were really fresh. The Panang curry was amazing and so flavorful! It did come with the side of rice options or lo mein. I got the lo mein but could have skipped it because I ordered a side of broccoli. I dipped my broccoli in the curry - sooo good! Service w/ a robot & a human assistant. This was exciting and I do see the ease and efficiency of this. I think I counted 3 different robots. The host/busser was very friendly and charismatic. My server Nic was nice but lacked some personality that I look for in servers. Thankfully he was there to give me my food rather than the robot, however. The restaurant was really large and seemed semi busy. It was till a beautiful environment; not too loud and very soft lighting. This would be a great first date location to give a try!

Stopped in for an early dinner before going back to work across the street at the Hyatt Regency. There was only one other table occupied at 6pm. We were seated immediately but it did take a bit to get service. In fact we had to flag our server down repeatedly for things like plates, chopsticks, extra napkins. They have a little robot that brings out to go orders and that the servers fill up with dirty dishes but it's not advanced enough to swing by and take our order. It was still cute to watch though. It has a little electronic kitty face. The prices are reasonable for 2023 ($14/dish) for dinner and the food was fresh and flavorful! The two of us were able to share a drunken noodles and soup for $13.50 including tip each.

Absolutely delicious, got uber eats of general Tso's and some lo mein. We also got the pad Thai which was great. Have to go in person next time and see how the restaurant is. Only got a picture of the pad Thai after I ate my delicious meal!

A pleasant surprise! Great service and very tasty food. It's nice to have a good high quality Chinese restaurant in downtown SLC.

Really good stop for great Thai. Drunken noodles with pork were good and spice level had my nose dripping from the first bite. Pad Thai was solid too. Wontons were a little over done in my opinion. We were only ones in the restaurant so that was a little odd to see but it was a little early. I'd eat there again.

I have been coming to this place for years because I live right next-door. I am never disappointed with this food!! Always hits the spot. The owner is so kind, and awesome to work with. They do an amazing job

Okay so the ambiance is great, but the food and service seriously lacked. The server robots seriously slow down the service, no idea who our server really was. We waited 10 minutes for someone to bring water and take our order. It was Friday night, i understand. But $17 for 5 pieces of chicken and a cup of rice is astronomical in my opinion. Especially considering that I can get larger portions of even hotter yummier food at other places. We ordered pork lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, and cream cheese wontons. Not worth it for us and overall a disappointment. Although our kid loved the robots I don't want to pay a ton for mediocre small portions of food because of them.

We had a wonderful dining experience here. The food, the staff, it was all amazing. The restaurant is beautifully laid out and comfortable. We started with the pot stickers and chicken satay, both were some of the best we've had. Any restaurant we visit we always get pot stickers if they are on the menu, and my boys said these were the best they've ever had! We ordered the Pad Thai, again some of the best we've had, flavors were perfect. Kai Soi with chicken, this was our favorite, so rich, so much depth of flavor, get this! Wonton noodle soup, this was the only thing we didn't care for, it just didn't have much flavor, a little bland. We got the house fried rice, it was delicious, and The honey glazed shrimp, it was so yummy! We will definitely be back to try more items!

I was in Salt Lake City for a conference, staying at a hotel near J Wong's. I ordered the chicken Tom Kha Gai soup, spring rolls, and mango sticky rice as takeout. They went out of their way to provide wonderful service. They were out of the mango sticky rice, but let me choose another dessert (toffee cake), and gave me free cheese wontons. They even delivered the replacement dessert to my hotel lobby. I appreciated the effort to go above and beyond to deliver good service. Not to mention the food was fresh and flavorful. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in Salt Lake City to try more items!

The potstickers came complimentary with a yelp check in. They were very good. I had the Mongolian beef, spicy. The spice was perfect (not Thai spicy) but the rice was dry. Service was great and it's fun to see the robot servers. We had a pretty big group and the food came out promptly. I had been wanting good Chinese and J Wongs hit the spot!

We were a party of 5. All of our meals were delicious. All 5 meals arrived at the same time. And the serving size was ample. This is definitely a place to go when visiting Salt Lake City.

Add this restaurant to your high priority bucket list. Blessedly subdued, a varied Asian menu, fantastic sauces, and an excellent wait staff make it a great choice. I made a meal of appetizers because I couldn't choose.

A small local restaurant with great service, food, and overall experience! Definitely a go-to place for Asian food when you are in downtown SLC. I ordered the Singapore Noodles and House Fried Rice, half expecting to only like one, but I was thoroughly surprised that both dishes were very flavorful. Good portions at good prices.

I went to dinner here with some colleagues from work, while visiting Salt Lake City for a conference. Nice atmosphere, a little dark, but clean. Al, our waiter was very friendly and great with recommendations. We settled on General Tao chicken, yellow curry (Thai dish) wonton appetizers, and drinks. I've never seen robots delivering food or sitting idly by at a table that needed to be cleaned. So, that itself was a treat. The food was excellent and really enjoyed the meal. I will definitely go back.

This seems like it was mainly a take out restaurant, but it's so beautiful inside I don't know why more people don't come for a date night here! We started with the thai chicken lettuce cups that were build-your-own style and they were great. Their peanut sauce was very good we got a few extra sides of it. The spring rolls were hot and freshly made. We all tried the shrimp curry, chicken lo mein and sesame tofu. The sesame tofu was my favorite of the 3 meals we tried, but all of them were delicious. It was super crispy and sweet. I would love to come back here again or maybe try their take out.

We were here for a celebration dinner! The food was a buffet. Everything was delicious! Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad see yu, Satay Chicken, with peanut sauce, eggplant and mixed vegetables, fried tofu with broccoli, both white rice and brown rice! Service was good, drinks were kept filled. Desserts were served also. A very enjoyable meal!

Stayed at a hotel 5mins away from this place, opened Uber eats and they were the first Chinese option I saw. Plus they had BOGO free chicken fried rice. I ordered the chicken fried rice, the picture on Uber doesn't really show that it has soy sauce mixed on it. Once received, it was literally cooked in soy sauce, it was too much for me Stir fry bokchoy was drowning in sauce, I prefer little sauce and crunchy bokchoy. I also ordered sesame pork & chicken broccoli stir fry, those were yummy!! I'd get it again. The lo mein & white rice side is literally only good for 1 person. The packaging too was superb, appreciated it.

J.Wongs was awesome from start to finish! I had a large group of over 35 people for our company dinner, we were all from out of town. I wanted some authentic Chinese/Thai food and Jordan took care of us. He was responsive via email and helped me pick a menu that would meet everyone's diet needs. We had the private room and booking was a breeze. On our dinner night the staff was so friendly and polite, even able to handle drinks throughout the night without interrupting our speeches. Everyone complimented the food. Highly recommend!

This place was a second choice based on previous reviews.... Glad first choice disappointed first glance. Service was great! Food was all flavors and delicious! Ambiance was on par, and the kids really enjoyed the robot serving thing. Recommended.

Came in for dinner, was treated with very poor customer service. After looking at the reviews, we were excited to try out this place, but the food was disappointing.

Fantastic green curry! I choose the shrimp for my protein and was satisfied with the number and pleasantly surprised with the size.

J Wong's is delicious!! We were looking for some gluten free Chinese food over thing weekend, and this place did not disappoint- it looked so good, we dug in before I was able to take pictures of the food. I only remembered later. The food- we ordered takeout and got the Honey Walnut Shrimp, the Drunken Noodles, and the Fresh Roll. All of these items, and many others can be made gluten free and it's marked clearly in their menu. The shrimp was delicious and I loved the noodles. The fresh roll was a delightful bite of freshness with the heavier food. The real kicker though is that the rice that came with the food was soft and fluffy! That never happens! The ambience- since we got takeout, we didn't stay in the restaurant, but it is really beautiful and clean. The service- everyone was so friendly and understanding of allergies. The person who gave us our food was also masked and gloved!

Best freaking food!!!! The walnut honey shrimp was to die for. Can't wait to go again

The food and service here are beyond excellent. This is one of my top-two restaurants in SLC and definitely one of my all-time favorite Pan Asian restaurants of all time. The atmosphere is welcoming and the menu selection will satisfy just about any palate. Jordan is a fantastic manager; Nyk and Sara are a part of the welcoming and friendly waitstaff. The only issue is all of the construction on 200 S (and hopefully will be coming to an end)! There is a parking garage not too far away around the block on W Pierpont Ave. And wait until you see the kitty robot!

It was our first time here at J Wong's. We were going to go to a different restaurant but they were packed since it was All Star weekend and so we decided to try J Wong's. Their service was really good. They had robots delivering the food and taking the old dishes back. Super cool. Their food was yummy. It was a really big portion. We 1/4 of it and took the 3/4 home for the following day. The atmosphere was super chill and relaxing.

Great food. Perfect location by the convention center. Prices were very affordable and the service was quick!

Came here on a Friday night at 8pm with a party of 10 and it wasn't crowded. This place was solid for Thai food but I wouldn't recommend their Chinese food. Any of their fried chicken (general tso, sesame, orange, etc) is not good, it's tastes like it's been fried in old oil and the sauces don't have any flavor. Their appetizers and Thai food are decent and I have to give them credit for being very reasonable in price.

My mom, aunt and I went here for dinner one night. And it was pretty tasty. I am not a huge fan of Chinese (my aunt is), but I do like Kung Pao tofu. There version was good. My aunt can't stand anything spicy, but the waitress told us they could make any dish non spicy, so my aunt had the non spicy Kung Pao tofu and she liked it as well. We ordered a side of book choi and another of the lo main noodle. The book Choi was really good, but the lo main, was swimming in soy sauce and while the menu said it was supposed to have veggies in it, it did not. I was not a fan of the lo mein and would not get it again. I don't remember what my mom got (I think it was a Thai dish) and she said she liked it as well. We will definitely go back as my aunt is super picky and doesn't like a lot of food, but we all liked this restaurant If I could give the score as 3 1/2 stars I would. .
