The 37 Best Restaurants in St. Louis, Missouri | Eater

"The Classic breakfast sandwich at Songbird is composed of aged white cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, a sunny fried farm egg, and a mizzle of local honey. The sandwich is finished with sea salt on the exterior, which gets caught in the crags of griddled sourdough, creating distinct flavors of salty on the outside and sweet on the inside, rather than allowing them to emulsify together. This may seem like a superfluous nuance for a breakfast sandwich, but it’s the difference between tasty and out-of-this-world delicious, and the kind of mindful detail that Chris Meyer and Mike Miller figured out after serving thousands of breakfast sandwiches for years at the Tower Grove Farmers market before opening their permanent breakfast and lunch spot. The rest of Songbird’s menu is equally thoughtful, especially the sprouted-grain English muffins and bialys that baker Bryan Russo makes in-house." - Holly Fann

Made a stop here on our road trip and I’m so glad we did! Even though there was a little bit of a wait (10 min) we enjoyed a quick walk around the neighborhood before being seated on the patio! The server Blaine (good I spelled it right) and staff are extremely friendly and attentive to your dining experience. We ordered the Lox and The Combination Breakfast Sandwich with a side of cheddar grits. Our drinks were the Songbird Latte and Beet It, which both exceeded our expectations! So good that my boyfriend went for a second! What makes this place special is their food is all locally sourced and it is seasonal. I like knowing what I am consuming is healthier and makes me appreciate this spot more. It’ll definitely be on my radar next time we are back in St Louis! Highly recommend 9/10! (Docket point only because the lox is a little fishy, but other ingredients mask it well)

Phenomenal! I had the spinach mushroom frittata and honey lavender latte. The frittata was the best I have ever had and big portion. The greens that came with it were so fresh and loved the light dressing. Also the latte had only a hint of sweetness which I loved because I don’t like drinks being too sweet. Staff are also very friendly. And I liked the outdoor seating. Simple and tasteful. Highly recommend.

Google
Enjoyed this meal thoroughly! Juice was delicious, and the waitress brought us an extra juice to try. She was such a great server! I ordered the Combo (breakfast sandwich they are known for) and my wife ordered the Farm Toast. Mine was the best breakfast sandwich I've ever tasted. Egg over easy, applewood bacon cooked to perfection, melted aged white cheddar, a little bit of local honey, on thick, grilled sourdough bread, lightly toasted and dusted lightly with salt flakes. My wife's was unbelievably gluten free. The toast was dusted with cornmeal. And the texture was like non-crumbly cornbread. It was smothered in apple puree, a malted whip cream and a little syrup. Delicious! I highly recommend this place. They take reservations; we didn't have any, but we only waited less than 10 minutes. Just go. Same owners of Kounter Kulture. Both are moving to a new building together very soon. Hopefully the move will provide better parking (parking at Songbird is street parking, and they are pretty busy, so you may have to walk a bit).

Google
Amazing breakfast! We went here early on a weekday and we were not disappointed! While they do take reservations, we had no issue getting a spot early. They have a large indoor seating area, as well as outdoor seating. I would recommend a reservation as this place does fill up quick, especially on the weekends. We got two breakfast sandwiches, and I would highly recommend adding the tomato. It was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. Amazing flavor and fresh. We also had two mocktails…and we were shocked the beet juice one was our favorite. Super fresh and tasty. The best part was the attentive service, where they make you feel like Home. Multiple people checked on us and took care of us. We can’t wait to come back.

Google
Absolutely the best breakfast experience i have ever had! My girlfriend and I visited here while in town for a Cardinals Game! The breakfast was delicious, they gave us an olive oil cake as a happy for the table (also amazingly delicious), and gave us complimentary drinks to enjoy "on our travels" when they found out we were visiting! Definitely a must if you want a good breakfast experience!!!

Google
Yum! Great food, great service, such a friendly atmosphere. Showed up early on a Monday and it filled up early so make a reservation if you can. We got the kale frittata and the breakfast tamale and both were excellent. Lots of different aged kids around so they're very tolerant of loud noises. Great coffee too! Highly recommended!

Google
I ordered The Platter, scrambled eggs, bacon and sourdough toast and a matcha latte. We sat at a cute counter in the middle of the kitchen. Our food came out piping hot. My eggs were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I like my bacon crunchy and not burnt. The cook aced the bacon. I like sourdough toast. Excellent flavor. I enjoyed the matcha latte down to the last sip. Great service from our waiter. Lots of street parking available.

Google
Cute and fun little spot for Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch. Freshly sourced ingredients bring the charm into each bite. Atmosphere is artsy means cafe. The staff are friendly and attentive which makes for a great dining experience.

Yelp
Songbird cafe is a colorful and cozy spot great for coffee, breakfast or brunch. We enjoyed The Combo Breakfast Sandwich. TRUST THE MENU and keep the honey! The white cheddar and honey just work with the sandwich. The service was quick and friendly. The dining area is relatively small so I wouldn't recommend attending either groups larger than 7. Plan on making reservations during peak hours or on the weekends. We were able to get in without at noon on a weekday.

Yelp
As a visitor to STL that day, I was looking for a good breakfast spot for my trip. Luckily, we found Songbird on a list as a top place to eat in the Midwest so that was the obvious choice. I ordered just an iced tea. They had a hibiscus berry flavor on the menu and figured that sounded good to try. It was delicious. As someone who doesn't drink coffee, sometimes it's a struggle at breakfast spots but not here. The tea was flavorful, but not overly sweet. I was able to have a few glasses while we were there. I also ordered the combo breakfast sandwich. It had cheese melted on sourdough toast with bacon, egg, and honey. It lived up to the hype that our server said it would. It was phenomenal. Simple concept and creation but it had so much to love and all of the flavors compliment each other perfectly with every bite. Honey is not my top choice for a sandwich topping but it worked here. Our server was great and kept the coffee and tea refilled and our table clean. They were doing construction that day so we sat inside. It was cozy and had a really good vibe but next time, I am going to sit outside and see how it is. Whenever I go back to STL, I will be going here for breakfast.

Yelp
Ordered 2 coffees and the combo sandwich. The sandwich is simple in its ingredients, but it tastes phenomenal. I cannot stress enough how you need to get the honey on the sandwich. The host was also extremely friendly. Excellent service.

Lillian L.

Yelp
This is a cute little cafe/restaurant that has a pretty simple menu, but quality ingredients. Our waitress was friendly & patient. The combo breakfast sandwich (which they are famous for) was straight and to the point, but super delicious. There's honey on it that adds just the right amount of sweetness to combat the salty bacon. I enjoyed how the bacon shined through in the sandwich without being too thick/tough. We also got the lox bialy (bagel), which was filling and had plenty of salmon lox on top. The bread wasn't tough at all and I love anything with sesame seeds on it! Overall, this is a great place to visit if you want some elevated classics! I recommend trying their coffee too! The vietnamese coffee was strong and had great flavor. If you are going on the weekend, I encourage a reservation as the place is a bit smaller.
google avatar

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect with Songbird, but it reminds me of a cozy diner concept. Especially once you try the combo breakfast sandwich, which is honey, egg, bacon, and cheese between two perfectly toasted slices of bread. Pros: The customer service is nice and I received my sandwich really fast. Cons: Parking was difficult for 10am on a Wednesday. The surrounding streets have parking signage for residential permits only, so you'll need to plan for that.

Yelp
I had such high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, they were not met. I do want to say that the staff were very kind and trying their best to accommodate the volume of people. We came on a Saturday, when they don't take reservations, so I expected to wait. However, we were told - 30 min wait, but it was closer to an hr, not including the 30 + additional minutes to receive our food. We expected great things from such a wait, but we're sadly disappointed. Farm platter (English muffin, eggs, meat)- Nay. The muffin was underwhelming, eggs were standard, and the bacon wasn't anything special. Cheddar grits- yay. They're good, but texturally interesting. Patty Melt- YAY!!! I wish I would've gotten three of these! I think it would've been super tasty with sourdough. Sprouted Grain EM- yay...Pretty good! The turkey sausage was nice, but I wasn't a big fan of the English muffin, which I thought would be the star of the show. Sour cream coffee cake- Nay! I was so excited for this, and it was very dry. *they did comp us two glasses of bubbles, after realizing how long our wait was, which was very kind!* TO NOTE: space is cute and colorful, bathroom was nice but there was only one, and it was always a long wait.
google avatar

Isra T.

Yelp
This was a great brunch experience! My sprouted grain English muffin was delicious, the ingredients were sourced locally and the sandwich was very flavorful. I also enjoyed my Vietnamese iced coffee. The ambiance was 10/10, very cute. Service was very fast and also very welcoming. Be aware that this is a popular brunch location so wait times can be long but it's so worth it! 5

Yelp
Fantastic little breakfast cafe! The cafe is small but the light and bright decor give it an open airy feeling and there is a good use of space. Lots of drink options ranging from seasonal options like mulled cider to teas, kombucha, coffee drinks, beer, and cocktails. Our server brought out some complimentary mini scones that were nice and flaky. For our meal, we had the breakfast sandwich and lox on a bialy. Both were delicious and super filling (of course that could have been because we devoured the scones first!). I didn't catch our server's name, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention how outstanding he was, super prompt and friendly!

Yelp
Food, service and ambience all wonderful! My server paid close attention to me and anticipated my needs.

Yelp
Songbird was a delightful experience from start to finish. I ordered their breakfast sandwich, which was absolutely amazing--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying. To accompany it, I tried the Vietnamese coffee, which had just the right balance of boldness and sweetness. My friends ordered the frittata, and after tasting it, I can honestly say it was the best one I've ever had. The flavors were well-balanced, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. The atmosphere at Songbird is cozy, with a relaxed vibe that wasn't too loud--perfect for catching up with friends over a great meal. The service was also top-notch. The staff was attentive, friendly, and even went the extra mile to recommend an incredible Italian restaurant for dinner. If you're looking for a spot that offers delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and excellent service, Songbird is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Finally made it to Songbird in Forest Park Southeast after so many people have told me great things! And they were right! What I got: Iced Honey lavender latte Breakfast Tamale with avocado Both were amazing and I highly recommend. I can't wait to go back. The cutest little place with wonderful & friendly service. Listed as #5 on the top 100 places to eat in the Midwest by Yelp. Pop in to see them soon! They are very busy and the place is not the largest, so be prepared. They do have some outside seating if there is nice weather. Open every day but Tuesday, 8a-2p.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot in St. Louis, but make sure to make reservations as there was a long line for us. The coffee and fresh toast here were amazing! But, I wasn't a big fan of the sandwiches. I am vegetarian so my options were limited and they had run out of the Tamales for the today so maybe my rating would be higher if I had tried those, but the sandwiches were not for me! I still recommend going to try out the French Toast as it's unique and one of the best I've had.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the most fantastic brunches I've ever had and in STL of all places. The turmeric ginger latte was the perfect start to a gloomy December day & I ate every single bite of my entree (fantastic mole like bean sauce & packed with protein). All at a reasonable price point! You know it's worth any wait when it's raining & 30 degrees & people are lining up out the door for a seat.
google avatar

Yelp
My mom brought me here for brunch on my Birthday, we didn't know my boyfriend had a reservation the next day for brunch. So I was lucky to eat at Songbird two days in a row! The food is exceptional. Everything is local and fresh. I've tried the Tamale, the frittata, the grits and the combo breakfast sandwich. My sister has been raving about the sandwich back when you could only get it at the farmers market. It didn't disappoint; however, the tamale was my favorite. The cheesy grits were disappointing. They were cold and needed salt. The place is very busy. The first day we came about 30 mins before they closed. I'd recommend getting a reservation since it is an option. It is very small but cute, clean and bright. Service was great the first day and ok the second day. Overall I highly recommend!

Yelp
Great service, fun atmosphere, delicious food! We went for lunch on Saturday. It's small inside, and there was a bit of a wait, and we enjoyed live music that was going on just outside of the storefront. Lunch was well worth the wait! We ordered the combo breakfast sandwich, chocolate lattes, green tea, and a Caesar salad. All of their ingredients were fresh and are locally sourced, which was a huge draw for us. Everything was really tasty and after we had finished, we were treated to a complimentary yogurt parfait, which was really more like a frozen strawberry yogurt sandwich. So good!! Exceptional service, and it was clear that the employees take a lot of pride in their restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Fair warning!! There is only street parking and sparse indoor dining space. Please book a reservation ahead of time, especially if you want to avoid sitting in the blazing summer heat. The outside wait area is a bit rough, as it is in direct sunlight. It easily gets packed on popular days, like Friday-Sunday. They only take online reservations of 6. You can try calling, but at least on busy times, the staff didn't pick up their phone. Upon arriving, I realized I completely booked the wrong day for my reservation! I explained the situation with the hostess. They were phenomenal in accommodating my large party of 6 and seated us within 15 minutes inside. With a small dining space, the restaurant felt cozy and warm as you listen to the chatter and laughter of other customers around. Our kind waitress Suzanne gave us recommendations and guided us through the menu. I ordered an iced matcha with oat milk (already included some vanilla syrup) and their popular combo breakfast sandwich with an added heirloom tomato (+$1). All of which were recommended by our waitress! For me, the matcha was not strong enough, leaving me with mainly the taste of the oat milk. Maybe the ice melted, diluting the drink? Despite its simplicity, the sandwich was really good. The slight bacon grease, bites of sweet honey, freshness from the heirloom tomato, all tied together by the gooey cheese + egg. No complaints for the sandwich! The menu items are very simple and straight-forward, which I enjoy. The drink prices are pretty good, but the food price, considering the portion, is alright. It is definitely an elevated, farm-to-table restaurant, so keep that in mind! Will come back to try more on the menu!

Yelp
Lives up to the hype! This beautiful little spot was on our list as it recently won a Yelp award as a top place to eat in the midwest. I can attest, it was very very good. First off, their black coffee is Blueprint Coffee which I love, and is the best that this out-of-towner has had in STL. They brewed it perfectly here as well, and I drank probably three cups on our short visit. I got the Sprouted English Muffin breakfast sandwich that has eggs, chicken sausage, brown butter aioli and micro greens. I almost, almost went back the next day just to get this same thing but ultimately had to drive back to KC and beat the rainstorm, sadly. Service was serviceable, and the vibes were nice. I would probably opt to sit outside on a nice day but there was a lot of construction going on around so inside was the better choice. Highly recommend checking this place out!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything about this adorable restaurant is fabulous. From the cozy vibe to the amazing food and service, Songbird is a must visit when in STL. As a vegan traveling through with a non-vegan colleague, I was thrilled to find a spot that had plenty of options for both of us. Items recommended for vegans include the grits (I had the vegan version, and they were amazing), the tamale, and their delicious oat milk latte. My colleague ordered the frittata and said it was the best that she's ever had; she also highly recommended the coffee cake. If you're in the area and looking for an awesome local spot with delicious food to please everyone in your group, I highly recommend checking out Songbird.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
They get busy quick but this is a must try. They're known for their breakfast sandwiches but my personal favorite is the breakfast tamale. Small menu but everything in it is great!
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
This is a great place to order breakfast indoors or carryout. Their breakfast sandwich is awesome. The taste is wonderful a mouth pleasure from the white cheddar cheese farm ,fresh egg, and Applewood smoked bacon on toasted sourdough from la bonne bouchee bakery. They use all local food sources very important to the business and itprovides an opportunity for customers to appreciate what St. Louis has to offer. All food is made with care and you can match that with the service provided by the servers and busses who always have a smile and kind demeanor to work with you. Do not pass this quaint restaurant up you won't regret it.

Yelp
Songbird is a brunch staple nestled in The Grove Neighborhood, renowned for its exceptional breakfast sandwich. This community-focused restaurant, which began at the Tower Grove Farmers' Market, has flourished into a loved local spot. Their initial venture, Kounter Kulture, set the stage for what would become Songbird. Opening its doors in the Winter of 2020, Songbird quickly became a local favorite. My go-tos include the lox bagel, spinach quiche and breakfast tamale. All excellent! Don't sleep on those cheesy grits either. The menu is a creative using locally and sustainably sourced ingredients, with many of the bread options crafted in-house. Adding to the culinary experience, Songbird has partnered with Sump Coffee to curate a coffee program. I love Sump Coffee!
google avatar

Alex J.

Yelp
Service was good. Food was delicious. We all enjoyed our selections. Tried coffee Palmer for the first time. Nice surprise. Will have to try it at home or look for it now. Sat outside since there was a longer wait for indoor seating, but weather wasn't bad and we had shade. Waiter was super friendly. Inside was cute, so will have to try another time.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Songbird is a small cafe that locally sources their ingredients. In fairness my foodie mother in law would give them ten stars but it just isn't my jam. So take this review with a grain of salt from an unsophisticated palate. I found it small and loud inside. My wife liked the farm toast but i thought it was an off flavor mix. It's basically French toast using corn bread. I had their signature sandwich which i could see being cool if you got it at the farmers market for a couple bucks but was pretty basic and not as tasty as a fast food breakfast sandwich. Judging by the reviews, others love it here and there is something to be said for supporting the local community and knowing where your ingredients come from, I'm just the neanderthal in the corner going, "but is it tasty?"
google avatar

Annie D.

Yelp
Love this little cafe! I have brought friends here before as well. I used to live in St. Louis so when I was back for work I had to stop by for the breakfast sandwich. Probably the best breakfast sandwich ever and the addition of honey has changed my life as I started adding that to my sandwiches at home. I sat at the bar which was lovely and it may be odd but this place has the cutest bathroom in town so check it out if you get the chance. The servers are always nice and friendly and food is quick!
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
Hands-down best breakfast sandwich you can find anywhere. The salt-honey-cheese is the perfect combination of flavors.
google avatar

Jonathan L.

Yelp
Very good. When the cafe centers itself around a cheese toasty, you know you are in for a treat. I had an egg sandwich and it was delicious. The bite from the cheddar, marrying itself to the freshness of the egg, the slight sweetness brought from the honey and finished with the flakes of salt is an incredible breakfast. The charming cafe, on a corner right near The Hill district was easy to get to. Easy street parking. Absolutely charming host who greeted me when I entered. This truly is a must on any visit to St Louis.
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely make a reservation before visiting because this place is BUSY! And for good reason. The food was great, and I loved that it was farm fresh and made from local ingredients. Our service was great and once we were seated we received our drinks quickly. I ordered a cappuccino and a London fog latte. Both were great, but could have been a bit warmer. The mushroom and kale frittata had a good texture and flavor but could have used a bit more salt. My grandma got the breakfast sandwich and really enjoyed the local honey! Note that the restaurant is very gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan friendly! Not to mention it's a very cute space with shops nearby. Definitely a well curated atmosphere
google avatar

Elaine S.

Yelp
Songbird continues to be a stellar breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in STL. The food is just so genuinely good. It's not cheap but it just feels so worthwhile to come here each visit. I was finally able to try their patty melt and omg it was incredibly decadent. Each bite was a flavor bomb. So glad I got the patty melt and I was able to split it with my husband so that I could have half of his combo sandwich - which is always a go-to. We were generously gifted their Caesar salad and we loved it - every cm of their greens were dressed and topped with cheese. It came with pickled onions (or shallots?) that helped cut through the richness of the salad. We're going to bring our 1 year old to the restaurant next visit. While this place is small and doesn't have high chairs, we were seated in between two families with toddlers and I noticed that the staff accommodates to young toddlers quite well!
google avatar

Erin U.

Yelp
I love Songbird when I can make it on a weekday when it's not crazy busy. But they're busy for a good reason. Their food is so delicious and fresh and they offer vegetarian and even vegan options. When you can dine in, the service is wonderful. I ordered the vegan tamale and enjoyed every minute of it! My mom got the farm sampler and cleaned her plate.

Yelp
My hubby took me to Songbird for brunch during our first time in St Louis and this brunch place is such a gem! First of all, most brunch places don't take reservations (especially in LA) so kudos to Songbird for taking reservations! We came here on a Thursday at about 1pm and it was a full house. Parking was hard to find but you can park at the College of Health Careers lot off of Taylor and Choteau, there's a blue sign. Our waitress, Taylor, was very friendly and attentive and she did an awesome job recommending things to try on our first visit. For drinks, we got the Flat White with honey lavender, fresh grapefruit juice, and the chicken bone broth. Oh my! Starting off brunch with bone broth was delightful! So soothing and flavorful. My Flat White was also made exactly the way I like -- extra hot with a balance of espresso and steamed milk with a subtle sweetness from their in-house honey lavender syrup. For food, we tried the Combo Breakfast Sandwich, Lox Bagel, Poppyseed Loaf (GF), Farm Toast (with apple), and the Pear salad. The Combo Sandwich was really tasty, my hubby asked for a side of pickled onions and I thought it helped cut through the buttery and richness of the sandwich. The Lox Bagel came on bialy which is basically a bagel without a hole and it was flatter which I enjoyed as it was less dense and more balanced with the rest of the fixins. The smoked salmon was really nice but I thought the hard boiled eggs inside the sandwich was a little crumbly and messy. Farm toast with apple was yummy, a little on the sweet side as was the Poppyseed Loaf and the Pear Salad was nice a refreshing. Overall, it was a delicious and comforting brunch with a sweet and cozy atmosphere that encourages good conversations and catch-ups. The staff were very friendly and helpful through and through -- definitely felt the Midwest hospitality! We would come back the next time we visit St Louis :)

Yelp
This is the first time I have been to Songbird and I will definitely be back! I parked on the street to the west of the building so as I walked up I did not see the entrance sign. The entrance is down a sidewalk on the west side of the building. It wasn't a big deal because there was a server outside so I asked her where the entrance was. I had made a reservation through their website and I ate at the bar. I have a gluten allergy and they have several gluten free items to choose from. The food portion was big! It was a little pricey, but what isn't these days. I had an iced honey lavender latte and the farm toast, which was gluten free, with a fried egg on the side. I also had a sample of the sour cream coffee cake with maple butter which was good too. All of the staff were very nice and inviting and the devote was cute!! I look forward to going back!!

Yelp
When will I ever learn that these cute, trendy coffee shops are not good? ....... My Caesar salad was so salty and wilted that I could barely eat it. I sent my iced chai tea latte back to be removed from my order because it was simply milk over ice. My daughter's patty melt was ok. This was a horrible experience.

Yelp
Don't usually get a chance to eat out for brunch so given the opportunity, Songbird was the first choice! Arrived about 40 minutes before closing time to a still packed restaurant with multiple people still waiting to be sat, to me this is a good sign. We were sat quickly, within 20-25 minutes and our server did not seem to mind in the slightest that we were being sat so close to closing time which understandably can be frustrating for some. Restaurant felt nice, bathrooms were clean, staff were all extremely friendly. Missed a photo of the menu, but all dishes had a sizable description of the items and where a lot of the ingredients were sourced from. Everything tasted absolutely incredible, will be back to try more things here sooner rather than later surely! Pictured: House made English Muffin + Fruit Spread Eggs (local) Chicken Sausage (local) Turkey Sausage (local) Cheddar Cheese Grits (house made/local)

Yelp
It was a cool place to eat! The food was very good, but the lattes and latte art were my favorite. I like that they are allergy friendly and have vegetarian options. It was VERY loud so don't go if you are looking to have a lot of conversation. This is a place I would recommend to people traveling to St. Louis!

Yelp
Okay wowowowowow. The reviews don't lie. We popped in on a Sunday about an hour before close, and they had plenty of seating. We were a little nervous so we were delighted that we got to try this spot. The menu isn't huge, which is preferred. I hate when there's a million options. But to be honest, I still wanted to try everything. The "farm to table" feel and their totally local and fresh concept is so cool, and a business I can get behind. And the freshness really comes across in their dishes. Both my husband and I got the classic sandwich and they were fantastic. Holy moly. My cousin got the French toast which was unique and SO amazing, and her boyfriend got the tamales which had such a great flavor. I didn't put anything in my mouth that I didn't love and wasn't impressed with. Every bite was perfect and delicious. We will absolutely recommend it and be back. Possibly the best brunch in St. Louis. Clean location, great service, and the best food? Yep.

Yelp
I just had a fantastic experience at Songbird in STL! After being in town for over six months, I finally checked it out, and it's now my go-to brunch spot. The staff is amiable, the outdoor seating area is bustling and pet-friendly, and the food is delicious - I loved every item on their menu. It's a perfect spot for brunch enthusiasts who like to bring their furry friends along. The waitress even got a water bowl for my dog while we waited for our food, and we were given a spacious table just for the two of us. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
This brunch spot is now my go-to spot! The interior is small but cozy with the cutest decorations. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table but it was definitely worth it. The latte was incredible, sweet and flavorful. I loved the chicken sausage sandwich and my friend raved about the breakfast sandwich. The ingredients were super fresh and you can see them preparing everything right in the kitchen. The staff was super friendly despite the busy hours. Definitely recommend making a reservation if you can!

Yelp
Love their salmon bagel and kombucha! Perfect combination. The place is small but super cute, eating outside adds another vibe to it. Service is great people are very friendly. Will come back again!

Yelp
I love this cute little place! They have the best breakfast sandwich in the Grove! Customer service is awesome and whenever I order to go, it's ready to go on time every time!

Yelp
I am visiting St. Louis for the holidays- We decided to pop in here the day after Christmas to grab a few things for carryout. The space is small but welcoming and charming. We let the host know we wanted to order to go so we got a menu and picked a few things out. They were very friendly and after it was placed offered for us to drive our car around out front and someone would bring out our order when it's ready. How nice!!! We ordered The Combo sandwich (cheddar, bacon, egg, salt, honey), Lox on Sesame seed bialy (salmon, cream cheese, capers, micro greens, pickled onions, egg), Sprouted Grain English Muffin (turkey sausage, egg, micro greens, brown butter aioli), and a side of grits. The sandwiches don't come with any sides, so we figured grits was a good option. I really appreciate the local organic fresh ingredients. Their patty melt is also grass fed local beef. Its wonderful when restaurants care about the quality of food they are serving. Everyone loved their sandwiches and the grits had a good peppery cheese flavor. I would come back here! Overall experience 4/5.

Yelp
Songbird is such a cute restaurant. I got their farm toast which had a carrot cake theme when I dined, it was so unique and tasted sweet and fresh. I also got the cheddar grits and I couldn't believe how flavorful and good they were! To end the meal, I had their "parfait" which took all of the ingredients of a yogurt parfait and turned it into a frozen yogurt sandwich, the granola being the outside layers. I loved how creative and delicious it was, I'd recommend it to everyone who is dining at Songbird!

Yelp
Breakfast is the best meal of the day, and Songbird knows how to make an incredible breakfast. There will probably be a wait but the food is so worth sticking it out. Service was amazing. Our food came out quickly and our waiter was the perfect amount of attentive without constantly being at our table. I got the combo breakfast sandwich and it was amazing. I love sweet and salty together, and the touch of honey was the perfect level of sweet to complement the salty fattiness from the bacon. Everything on the menu looks delicious but it will be hard to get anything but the combo because it's that good.

Yelp
I was super excited to try Songbird after seeing all the rave reviews! However, my friend and I did not have the greatest experience. I called ahead the day before to make a reservation and we arrived about 3 minutes after our reservation time (which may have caused some problems? Not sure). There were only the 2 of us in our party and the host said that they only had room for us at the bar. This was fine but not ideal. However, for the duration of our visit, we saw an open table for 2 available across the room that we would have preferred. My friend ordered coffee and, shortly after, we ordered our food. I ordered the Farm Toast which looked delicious in the description. When my food arrived, I was not provided with silverware and had to wait a bit to catch our waiter's eye and ask for silverware. The Farm Toast itself was very dry for my taste and was not very flavorful. Their seasonal fruit to accompany the Farm Toast was an apple spread that just tasted like bland applesauce. I rarely don't clean my plate or take my leftovers to go, but I did not care to finish or take my leftovers with me. Finally, our waiter gave us little ice cream squares to enjoy for dessert. However, my silverware was taken away with my plate. I again had to ask for silverware and my waiter said that it was easier to just eat it with my hands. I proceeded to eat it with my hands, but it was a little off putting to have my request for silverware be denied. Overall, the atmosphere was very cute and homey and I would like to visit again to try to have a better experience. I really wanted to like Songbird so bad!! Sadly, I didn't have a great experience from start to finish.

Yelp
My friend and I arrived around 10:30 am on Sunday. There are many parking spots around. The line was short but the place seemed full. We were seated indoors about 5 minutes after we entered the restaurant. However, they do have a few outdoor seats. Our waitress was super welcoming and friendly. I ordered the Kale Frittata. The portion was good. The dish itself was delicious. I will definitely return and try other items on their menu (I had a hard time deciding this time. They all look amazing).

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Songbird, and it truly is a hidden gem in St. Louis. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, giving off a small cafe vibe that makes you feel right at home. Despite being a small place, it was packed, which speaks volumes about its popularity. The limited menu at Songbird is a testament to their commitment to quality. It's evident that this family-owned establishment focuses on crafting each dish with care and attention. Every bite feels like a labor of love. The service here is warm and personal, adding to the overall charm of the place. If you're looking for a place where freshness and authenticity shine, Songbird is the place to be. It may have a small menu, but it's big on flavor and heart. I'll definitely be returning to savor more of their delicious creations!

Yelp
Lovely staff. Quality and creative food. Small seating area. Get reservations for breakfast and brunch times. Unassuming location worth the visit.

Yelp
Cute little breakfast my husband and I decided to check out while we were in town. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures! My husband got their famous breakfast sandwich which was probably the best one he or I have ever had. And I had their farm toast. For this time of year it was topped with cream cheese, carrot, and raisins. It was very good! The staff was very accommodating even though we had our little baby with us. We will 100% be back. Especially for that breakfast sandwich.

Yelp
Our brunch at Songbird was like a symphony of flavors, and every dish was like a different note that harmonized perfectly. Getting a table here is tough, but it's worth it. It was nice cozy environment. Here's the lowdown on our brunch: Sprouted Grain English Muffin: I think everything here worked well together. The microgreens and pickled onions actually added a kick of acidity to contrast the brown butter aioli, which was probably one of the best things I've put in my mouth in recent years. The sausage itself was decent, but this was one of those times where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. A must try for sure. Songbird Caesar Salad: This is a salad that is done well. There's only so good a salad can be and I think the salad here is close to that peak without straying too far away from what makes a salad a salad. I think the miso vinaigrette is an interesting addition, and blends well together with the overall flavor profile. The croutons were the right balance between crisp and crunchy and added much needed texture to the dish. Grass-fed Beef Patty Melt: If you're in the mood for some hearty brunch satisfaction, the Grass-fed Beef Patty Melt is your jam. It is somehow so flavorful and rich, but won't make you feel like a slob for liking it. It's very creamy and rich and meaty (all of the best words), and a life hack is to always put a few pieces of the kettle chips into the sandwich itself for a great texture bonus. Overall, a great dish. In a nutshell, Songbird's brunch is where brunch dreams come true. Each dish is like a culinary masterpiece, and the flavors are like a delightful melody for your taste buds. Songbird is the place to be when you're looking for a killer brunch place! 5/5 stars.
