Julian's Aguachiles

The camarones cabrones were amazing—spicy, salty and delicious. Be prepared for messy fingers after you peel your shrimp. I would definitely eat this again. My husband’s birria was also flavorful and delicious. This is an authentic place.

We tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago and it was delicious. We got the aguachile mix plate and it was perfect. Super fresh shrimp, fish, veggies and home made chips. We also tried the Camarones cabrones, those are a must every time we go now. Went back today and had the ceviche, was just as good as the aguachiles or maybe better. Their guacamole is really good too. If you like mariscos this is definitely the place to go to. We found our new favorite mariscos place 🍻

Their breaded fish tacos were the best I ever had. Breaded fish oftentimes taste too greasy with oil and heavy. Their fish tasted really fresh. My wife had ceviche, and it was excellent. Service was very friendly and prompt. If you're ever in Oxnard area and have a craving for good Mexican food, give this restaurant a try.

We arrived with an Aguachiles craving. We ordered their quesabirria tacos, shrimp tacos and the aguachiles mix plate. Everything was presented so beautifully and it tasted so refreshing for a hot day. I’d definitely recommend this place, they have large Aguachiles platters too! Their aguas frescas are yummy.

After trying the complimentary salsa while waiting, we knew the aguachile was going to be good. The aguachile did not disappoint! Very flavorful, great spice. Whole cucumber, tomato, & avocado slices & plenty of tostadas helped cool down each bite to be able to go back for more. The ceviche pescado that came with the aguachile was also good. It was nice to be able to try both the aguachile & the ceviche for our first time here. My husband also had the Diablo burrito, but decided we would probably skip next time. The shrimp inside of the burrito were large & cooked well, but the burrito was mostly white rice with some carrots & peas & the sauce on top of the burrito was much sweeter than we thought it would be. My husband likened it to a sweet BBQ sauce. The woman who was our server was extremely nice & personable. Small lot right beside the restaurant which I’m not sure belonged to them, but we parked on the street & did not have any issues. We will definitely be back next time we’re craving aguachile!

We took our friends from Vancouver, B.C who visit us 3-4 times a year and a visit is not complete without a lunch or dinner at Julian's. Upon arriving, you're greeted by the most delicious, freshly-made and still warm tortilla chips, along with their sensational salsa. The meals have been consistently wonderful, especially the Camarones Cabrones, 20 perfectly cooked shrimps in a spicy sauce with caramelized onions, the Tacos Gobernador, their first-prize winning Ceviche, their Chicken Taquitos, and of course, the outstanding aguachiles. The portions are very generous and can easily be shared by those at the table. These dishes are so good that we rarely venture into other choices on their extensive menu, but looking around at other tables, we see lots of satisfied customers eating other dishes, like fajitas and burritos. The prices are reasonable and Julian and the staff go out of their way to accommodate their guests, with excellent service, kindness, and sincere appreciation for having chosen to eat there. There is no shortage of Mexican restaurants in Oxnard, but for us, the great food and attention to fresh ingredients and creative recipes set Julian's apart as our favorite place when we want Mexican cuisine. Julian's also does a great take-out business and catering for parties. We highly recommend Julian's; you won't be disappointed!

So good! We had ceviche and fajitas. Nice atmosphere and very delicious food. Good fuel up for after climbing at Point Mugu. Will be coming back!

I wanted to express my sincere condolences to this place. Took my cousins that came out of town to this place and the food was horrible. Food was cold to the touch when served on our table. Also wanted to share that I got food poisoning from this place. Please be careful when eating here. I was home dying of stomach cramps and stuck to a toilet for house upon ours. Never will i return to this traumatic place for the food. Something is terribly wrong here.

Service was great, great people with a smile Ambience ,- small restaurant feel Fonda style Down side is there is no AC Food.- ordered the Aguachile and was surprised with the flavor, had what looked like tomato paste and was not satisfied, the fish tacos on the other hand were bomb Micheladas hit the spot as well, Reason for 3 stars is because of Name. julian Aguachiles and had huge expectations about presentation and flavor

I'm not from the area but I've heard great things about the restaurant! Show up shortly after opening so we were sat immediately. I ordered a michelada with the ceviche toreado with a choice of tostadas, crackers or tortillas made in house. The portion sizes are great, the food was delicious ! Great customer service, food is made to order I will definitely be returning for more in the future!

Service was nice, food not the best. Aguachiles is what we got but they were kinda warm that was not good. Seafood supposed to be cold. The sauce was ok nothing special. Drinks were very watered down the cantarito had no taste to it. Not sure that I will come back.

This time we ordered the Julian's Aguachiles Mix Plate. Absolutely delicious and a great quality of ingredients. Their quesabirria tacos and shrimp tacos were both savory yet had unique flavors. Definitely coming back for more tacos. The service was great, restaurant was clean and food was excellent!

Saw this spot on tik tok, did not disappoint. Best aguachiles ive had in a while, the carne asada plate was also very filling.

The food is so good here! Honestly it's worth the ceviche. We just had a few moments there the fried shrimp when way overcooked and we mentioned it to our server and the apologies but nothing was done about it. This most recent time we went the food is so good however we ordered the Carne Asada and the meat was not edible. It was just so tough. We all asked our server if it was a different cut than usual. They asked the chef and they said it's the same cut. It's probably just a different quality of meat Which we were unable to eat because it was so tough. There wasn't a "let me take that back for you or would you like something else" it was so just an apology again. It was comical because we really love this place. the beans and rice were delicious. Just the main protein was not edible. Give this place a try it's is really good. I just don't think they've trained their servers how to correct mistakes when mistakes happen.

Brought my girlfriend and her family here last night for a birthday. There were 4 of us and we ordered a platter, we couldn't believe how much food was on it lol. Our server was sweet and on top of things, she brought us a serving spoon as necessary and plenty of tostadas. The taste was excellent just like before. Honestly if you love someone and they love seafood, you treat with the aguachiles and/or ceviche here.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and i'm so mad at myself for not coming sooner!! The aguachile was so good, the perfect amount of spice, ceviche tastes so fresh, and the tacos gobernador were life changing! Can't wait to be back for more

The owner is helpful and very kind. He takes a lot of pride in his business. Place is not in the nicest of areas but the food more than makes up for it. If you like shrimp, this is the place for you. The tacos, the aquachilies, the shrimp cocktail, were all fantastic. I will be stopping by here every time I visit Oxnard.

Food is amazing and staff as well! Will def be back. The horchata and peino agua frescas are bomb and is amazing as well as the aguachiles and shrimp tacos.

I loved this restaurant and truly offer delicious and tasty aguachiles! They have great portions for the price. The taco gobernador was my personal favorite though because the tacos were filled with lots of cheese. They offer great service and are always playing soccer games on their TVs. They have lots of seating and have lots of great options!

We stopped by Julian's on our way back from Ojai to LA and are so happy we did. The staff was so kind and the food was amazing. I would stick with the seafood, particularly the aguachile which was sensational. Spicy, citrusy and fresh. Frankly it was addicting.

We had the Aguachiles and camarones a la diabla and both dishes were amazing! Great service and amazing food and cute decor! Must go again!

Me and my family love Julian's Aguachiles. We try and go at least once a week. The aguachiles and ceviche are fresh and delicious but my favorite is the Camarones Cabrones! The shrimp tacos Gobernador and their micheladas are also amazing!

Wow!! That is all I have to say. Great food and great service. You can actually taste the food, normally seafood restaurants just soak their shrimp in lemon.

The service was exceptional! Highly recommended the shrimp tacos!! One of the best I've had! Shrimp and tortillas were sooo fresh! Food came out nice and hot. I'm picking about temperature ;) Super casual place but feels clean.

I never tried aguachiles before but came here with some friends before we saw the Barbie movie. It's a nice small locally owned restaurant with ceviche and aguachiles as their speciality. Everything looked fresh and the reviews caught my eye, so I made it my dinner pick and wasn't disappointed! I'm used to seeing a green colored aguachiles sauce, but Julian has their own house version. It was very fresh and spicy. Portions are very large to share and keep snacking on. A perfect pairing with some cerveza ! I recommend you try this spot if you're feeling aguachiles! I have yet to try their other dishes, but they looked great as well.

First of all, this restaurant is darling. It is decorated in lots of vibrant colors, and there is ample seating, in various configurations. This is a great place to go with a small or large group of friends. Second, the food is excellent. My friends and I all got different things, ranging from ceviche to carne asada to the fish tacos and shrimp tacos that looked so irresistible on their menu. Everyone was happy with what they got, and I was over the moon happy with my fish taco and shrimp taco. The tortillas are homemade, and they are heavenly - everyone commented on it. Service was a little slow and kind of scattered, but that was to be expected because I showed up with a group of 40 friends. That is not their fault, and I would not hold it against them. This is not normal. I will return, and I would highly recommend this spot.

Aguachiles was amazing!! They definitely fill up the plate so the size portion was worth it. Underneath the shrimp and fish, there was a good amount of cucumber slices, tomato slices and avocado slices. It was pretty empty on a Saturday night, but we got there an hour before closing. Not complaining though! Beautiful presentation and flavor. The service was very attentive and friendly. I definitely recommend especially if you love seafood!

I wish I could give it zero stars. The mixed Fajitas were bland with no flavor. The tortillas were not cooked well, it felt like I was eating raw masa. We ordered the aguachiles as an appetizer and they brought after them well after my food. They also brought the ceviche about 20 minutes later than everything else. They apologized and said they were behind but there was only 2 other tables seated besides us. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The owner and his wife made food for us - the ceviche was the best I have ever had! This place is off the beaten path but it's absolutely worth the stop!!!

I had the Camarones Cabrones, Aguachiles, and Tacos Presidenciales -- everything was absolutely delicious! The flavors were bold and authentic, and the presentation was on point. The service was extraordinary -- friendly, fast, and attentive. I'll definitely be coming back!

The camarones cabrones are succulent. I've never had aguachiles iin red sauce and they were so delicious. It's a good place to fill your belly and walk out on a food coma. If you can walk out.

Came here on our way back from LA and have to say it was so good! We ordered an aguachile plate and a ceviche de camarón. Super yummy and would definitely recommend! The owner is down to earth and the service was definitely 10/10. Would come again!

First time here this Past Sunday and the Food was great and the portions were very generous. It was also great value for dollar. All the food shown ran about $40 flat and in today's economy honestly felt great to me. The avocado was only $3 additionally I was satisfied. Very Cozy Interior and the workers were very positive and nice.

Some of the best around town!! Spicy fresh delicious, aguachiles and ceviche are so good and love the tostadas they give w it too, I've gone three times but always get takeout - place is cute and always has live music , family friendly and service is great

This is ABSOLUTELY NOT a 5-star restaurant, but their service is friendly enough that I hate to give it 3 stars just to bring it down to earth, so it gets a true 4. The good: lightly sweet agua frescas; truffle (!) dirty rice; homemade nachos and tortillas; and aguachiles shrimp texture. The less-good: meat is a little tough; not a single sauce is spicy, not the salsa, the habanero, or even the chiles on the side; and the tabasco-adjacent aguachile sauce.

A friend of mine arranged a taco crawl in Oxnard. This was one of the stops. I ordered a fish taco. The tortilla was freshly made and so good. There was a very large piece of fish and crunchy veggies. Really a great taco and I want to return to try more menu items. Highly recommend.

So glad i tried Julian's for the first time today. I ordered the aguachiles and ceviche mix. Really glad I did. Huge flavor and so fresh. The shrimp are juicy and satisfying in the delicious aguachile sauce. The fish ceviche is equally fresh and perfectly prepared. The thinly sliced red onion, tomato, avocado and pepino add to the dish in a wonderful way. Fantastic service and great atmosphere to have a sit down meal with friends and family. It was really a special treat to enjoy, can't wait to go back to Julian's very soon!!

Wine shop I was driving down PCH and look for a Restaurant but I was a little bit doubtful but once I ate here, food is delicious specially spicy and it's really fresh.

Best Mexican seafood ever! We ordered the camarones cabrones and the shrimp cocktail, both amazing! Seafood is cooked to perfection, not chewy like in a lot of places! Great food and service!

It's alriiiiiiight. You know a taco spot/ restaurant is good when they bring out the chips and salsa. Unfortunately the salsa was probably canned, and it lacked seasoning. The horchata is probably store bought as well, which is okay, but it was a little watered down. We tried different types of salsas but they all weren't spicy at all, and only one was actually savory, all the other ones needed a little bit of salt. The ceviche plate was good though. The shrimp tacos needed a bit of salt too. They have yellow bell peppers, so they're supposed to be a bit sweet, perhaps adding them to the mix took away a bit of the savoriness of the taco. This place has potential, but definitely not 5 stars yet. They have a good singer performing though- very entertaining.

Absolutely delicious, great service, excellent selection and fresh seafood but a little pricey

We had dinner here last night. I had a pastor burrito which was super tasty. My husband had asada burrito but unfortunately, the meat was too salty. Their rice is delicious, though. One of tbe best rice I have had but we eat out for the entire experience, not just the cheapest part of the meal. We may give it a second try.

As a LA residents, we have high expectations for good authentic food. This place truly surpassed our expectations. Best aguachile in all of California. The staff was super friendly also. Would highly recommend!

Julian's is as authentic, delicious and reasonably priced food you can get north of the border! Having eaten in Mazatlan & Isla Holbox, the food at Julian's is better and of course, local! The family owned business present with excellent customer service skills and kindness from the owner. Thank you all!

Ok, this is our new favorite place to go for high-end tacos in western Ventura County. We got here by sheer chance, and feel very fortunate. It's a really cute place, a little outside of downtown Oxnard. The house special shrimp tacos are very flavorful with smoky flavors on a slightly fried tortilla. And the birria was wonderfully tender with perfect seasoning, paired with a medium-spicy salsa. The handmade tortillas really brought it all together: a little thicker and more tender than store-bought, but they didn't fall apart while eating the tacos. Perfect. Many other good looking items in the menu that we will definitely have to try in the future! There are plenty of good, cheap tacos in the area, but these are really great tacos, at a mid-range price (plate of three for $10 to $15).

I highly recommend you this place you won't regret it. They have excellent cocktails, and good services!!!!!!! shout out to Julian, my boy !!
