Yelp
Ho May has an A rating for their cleanliness despite the rough exterior of the building that it is in. The area it is in is rough, its right across the street from the projects and you'd definitely be met with some hesitation from your sheltered friends if you suggest coming here. I tend to crave fried chicken wings and fried rice quite often, and Ho May Kitchen has some of the best in the NYC area in my humble opinion. The inside is a bit hood, not much seating, and graffiti splattered on some of the walls in there. I tuck my chain when I'm in the area and its night time.
When you walk into the restaurant, it feels like you're in a deserted bank, as you have to give your order through a bulletproof glass wall. The fried chicken is priced at $6-7 and the fried rice will run you a few bucks more if my memory serves me correct.
The fried rice, it looks a bit mushy, but it clumps together and is more dense, which is how I like my fried rice. I put some duck sauce on it, as is tradition. The wings are spectacular, its fried well, super crispy, the flavor just pops off the second you take a bite, and is overall done well. I have no idea what they do to the chicken in Ho May Kitchen, but seriously some of the best chinese take out chicken wings you can have in the NYC area. Stop by during the day time if you're scared, but its definitely worth the try.
On a side note, don't take photos inside of the restaurant in front of the bulletproof glass and such, I've heard the workers and owners don't like that very much in there.
