"The East Village location of Big Gay Ice Cream has the same flavors and combinations as the West Village one, but it’s right near Tompkins Square Park. Our note about tourists and napkins still stands. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

"Big Gay Ice Cream hardly needs an introduction. This beloved soft-serve joint started off as a seasonal truck in 2009, quickly amassing a loyal fan base in NYC. Their first permanent shop was opened in the East Village in 2011, followed by a shop in the West Village the next year. "

Really good ice cream dessert. Very big but very much worth it. Long line when it's nice out so be ready to wait a bit. Lots of different special options. Worth visiting and trying

Ice cream is good any time of the year, even in winter! I've had the Bea Arthur and Salty Pimp and both were delicious! It's soft serve ice cream so don't except anything fancy. They also have drinks!

So can I say it's pretty regular. I figure the rating is high because of the tech savvy residents. But boy oh boy they don't know ice cream. Just a plain vanilla is okay but for the price any other store brand beats it except for cold stone(they only do toppings right). For there oddly named, fantastical custom cones, cups and shakes I would say if I hadn't tasted other soft serves from around the nation I would be mildly impressed, by the names but shocking names don't do it for me. I need flavor and deep rich textures. This falls flat for the big gay ice cream place. Still the employees are stellar but over rated is the new name for this place.

When I finally made it to the Big Gay Ice Cram shop I think I anticipated way to much. It is delicious but then ice cream itself is 2 choices chocolate and vanilla soft served with qui1rky (like Cheetos)or more main stream (Nutella) . It is creamy and smooth, but sweet I mean sweeeet ,a bit overwhelming.

Went to try the Cheetos soft serve before it ended. Interesting flavor, it's not bad but not for me. I prefer my ice cream more sweet than salty but had to give it a try. Everyone here is super nice and helpful. There are a lot of choices to pick from.

This ice cream shop is adorable and the ice cream is delicious too. There may be a line but it goes quickly. Friendly service and they are helpful with helping you make a choice. I love the swing such a cute quirky touch. The rocky road was yummy. They put a twist on the ice cream flavors which makes the experience even better.

This place is clean and adobrable with all the silly toys and posters they have decorated with. The staff was super friendly and patient while we had to read over the whole menu to try and figure out what we wanted. The burbon butterscotch topping is to die for! And the even have pints of their signature flavors that you can get to go.

Very good ice cream at very decent prices in this famous ice cream parlor. The ice creams were very smooth and they also serve cones with a bottom cap to prevent it from dripping on to your hand. They also sell milkshakes and other beverages as well as accessories like T shirts.
